looking for good gestalt builds for a group of assassins for npcs. 1party only. high level and have to be one class that gets 6 or 9th lvl spells and one non casting class. all of them will have mythic 1 except the leader who has mythic 10.

any ideas would be appreciated.

Dude, that is a raw deal of raw deals. There is a galaxy of difference between mythic 1 and 10.

As for an assassin, the obvious answer is to go for shadowdancer or red mantis killer, with hexcrafter magus or wizard on the other side. Actually just wizard. Exploiter wizard, if possible, for that ridiculous teleport ability.
>>
>>48202236
You misunderstand the wording and placement of the comma.

It's 'human but' or human but lives long, or human but shadow realm, or human but angels. Just that a great deal of other races are small variations on human, because that's all we can feel sympathy for.

Zootopia Anon here with some storytime!
Today was the intro to things, so it took a lot longer (broke for both lunch and dinner). So, much to my surprise, everyone at the table decided to pick ZPD forces. This led to me having to do some VERY fast rewriting while they fleshed out character names/personalities/etc. For a brief recap (and player brief):

The two adults at the table took the Ibis Wizard (Pidge) and Dog Vitalist (Malinois). Youngest guy at the table, at 8, takes the Rhino Barb (Rhyhorn Don, after his newest catch in GO). Twin girls, age 10, take the Panda UnMonk (Chien Po, she's a Mulan and KFP fan) and the Catfolk Paladin (Felis). Elephant Aegis is taken by the last guy, 12 years old and an Iron Man fan. The rest of this post shall be greentexted and condensed as far as I can.

>Chief Bogo briefs the room about a rash of art thefts, witnesses describe a timber wolf wearing a green shirt accompanied by three accomplices.
-Do note that both adults already got the reference here.
>Team does some really good roleplay, getting into character. Vitalist quickly becomes the team lead, so I start referring to him as Lieutenant. Before getting far, they realize that they'll need info.
>Hit the streets! While gathering info from some street mice, the party the party runs into some Sheep still resentful from the movie plot. Fight ensues.
>Casters hang back, sniping a bit but conserving spells/PP. I figure out fast that ALL FOUR OF THE KIDS GRABBED NETS.
>Some saps, some billy clubs, one crit charge, and four nets later they haul some very unfortunate thugs to the station

Head Pat (Cha)

By extending your arm in a non-threatening manner and flapping your arm and hand in the universal sign of encouragement, consolation and praise you can change the attitude of a creature from hostile, unfriendly and indifferent states to friendly.

Action: Takes 1 minute of solid and continuous headpatting.

Special: If you have the Persuasive feat, you can headpat two heads at once.

(continued storytime)

Before I go further, reminder of some context. Everything magical or supernatural in PF is flavored as tech here. "Wizard" means specialized blaster rounds, "Vitalist" coordinates through earpieces and visors, etc.

>Felis's player really gets into character during interrogation, filing claws casually after having just helped take these guys painfully down. She tried a laser pointer to get them to focus at one point, saying later "Always worked for my Momma"
>Comes out that there is going to be a major underground art show the next evening, and the thieves might try to fence what they stole.
Team works out that they can't all go in full uniform, they'd stand out too much. Panda and Elephant chosen to go in undercover, the former because no weapons needed and the latter because he can freaking summon his. Kity is on overwatch, with the Ibis and Rhino covering the other two exits.
-I can't emphasize how much coordination they put into this, they spent over an hour getting building plans and placements right. I had to write some of the info they gathered on the spot, I didn't expect this much digging.
>Team gets in their places, the two go in. sure enough, wolf in a green shirt, accompanied by a rather attractive fox, a frog with a hat armed with a poorly-concealed pistol, and another fox in robes with a katana openly carried
-Adults facepalm, kids are interested
>Team forgot to account for a couple of things. pandas are rare, and elephants stand out no matter /where/ they are, so the two get spotted and identified by the quarry exceedingly fast. They make for a rear door, exiting right into the Ibis's line of fire.
>COLOR SPRAY, BITCH!
>Vitalist gets everyone on target and Toughens the wizard, Catfolk paladin is in range next round and designates Goemon as target lawbreaker for her Smite Overdrive, then unloads.

(to be completed)
>>
>>48202711
>Rhino and Panda get into the fray just in time for Jigen to snap out of it, with Lupin coming to just as the elephant calls his heavy power armor and pulls out an ENORMOUS billy club.
>Goemon was about to do some terrible things with that katana, but got Stunned by the monk before he could land a potentially-lethal second hit. Paladin uses her autoinjector stim pack (read: Lay On Hands self) and delivers another shot that leaves him bleeding on the ground.
>Don the Rhino apparently Would Hit A Girl, because he crits HARD with his sap and lays out Fujiko
>Lupin and Jigen manage to escape with a well-placed smoke bomb. Everyone knows we'll be seeing them again
>Vitalist stabilizes the two and does some quick patching up the team, while nets are use for restraints to haul the offenders in.

We wrapped up returning to the station, the two captured foxes behind bars. There is some RP during equipment maintenance (one of the adults is military, and he was making the point to the kids).

Alright, I have to go to sleep, but I'll check out feedback on this in the morning. Hope you enjoyed it, next session is planned for next Saturday

>You distort the way others perceive and remember you, making it hard for creatures to recall knowledge of you and your kind. Creatures attempting Knowledge checks to identify you and your traits (such as abilities or weaknesses) suffer a -4 penalty to do so. This does not affect Knowledge checks made to research you or information related to you (such as at a public library) or other forms of information-gathering related to you (such as Sense Motive or Diplomacy checks). Creatures that fail Knowledge checks to identify you and your traits learn false information instead of learning nothing.

>Augment: You may augment this power in the following ways:

>1. For every additional power point you spend, the penalty to Knowledge checks increases by 2.
>2. If you spend 2 additional power points, you may determine the form of misinformation learned by creatures failing their Knowledge checks.

A 8th-level cryptic, dread, or Expanded Knowledge psion with this and Overchannel can spend 3 + 5 + 2 = 10 power points to impose a -14 penalty on Knowledge checks to and dictate the type of disinformation any hapless Knowledge-users receive.

High-Knowledge characters would be deeply fooled by the Knowledge skills they have come to rely on and trust. However, this can also mislead those with mediocre Knowledge. Upon meeting the occulted psionicist, they could be asked to make Knowledge checks to see what they know about said psionicists, and then promptly receive DC 10 "common knowledge" that is truly distorted disinformation.

Outsiders are formed of the raw essence of the outer places, and can breed with just about anything. This could also include elementals.

Hey, /pfg/, I'm a little miffed and I wanted to vent and ask you guys something.

So, my party was heading into the lair of a big bad's lieutenant or whatever. We had knowledge on her and knew she was some half fiend sorcerer who specialized in dominating and charming folks. As you'd expect, part of the preparation for this fight was setting up protection from evil spells.

So, the fight goes pretty well for awhile but she casts Euphoric Tranquility on my Paladin then orders minions to not attack me/be nice to me. I just sit about there, stupid and friendly for some rounds (someone tried to dispel it but it got countered) until the fight's over. I protest and the GM said that Eurphoric Tranquility isn't "dominating or possessing you," which is one of the caveats of Protection from X spells in a Paizo FAQ. Apparently just making me friendly to everyone isn't evil possession.

This eventually led to my Paladin getting left behind as the fight went south and the GM said he's straight dead. They asked him to take off his gear and relax then captured and ritual sacrificed him. I'm expecting next week to maybe get a revive attempt but she's an evil spellcaster so she could just trap the soul or harvest it or whatever, so I assume the character's toast and I'm already making up a new one to awkwardly interject into the party. It really annoyed me because A: Euphoric Tranquility doesn't have a save and B: The only spell I can think of that counters it that I could have was Protection from Evil and the GM denied me that one avenue of defense. Am I being a bitch for feeling bullshitted by this? Does Euphoric Tranquility really skirt around the protection from evil rules?

I know it's just a fake fantasy character but that was I played that Paladin for about a year and blam, killed in a way I felt I had no chance to do anything about.

Second, the subject immediately receives another saving throw (if one was allowed to begin with) against any spells or effects that possess or exercise mental control over the creature (including enchantment [charm] effects and enchantment [compulsion] effects, such as charm person, command, and dominate person).

The 2 ways to read this. One, this is a blanket statement over all enchantment effects, or 2 this is offering suggestions of what could constitute mental dominations and its left up to the DM.

Either way euphoric tranquility is basically 'charm person no save fuck you' because all charm person does is make a person friendly too.
So anyone capable of a diplo check, (which takes 1 minute to perform unless you specialize in this shit, which you might want to point out to your DM) can effectively mind control you because diplo rules are gay as fuck.

Moreover, if someone's going to sac you.

from reading the spell just now, it doesn't have a saving throw because it's a touch attack
you did have a chance to avoid it, it was your touch AC
also it seems that an ally could have attacked you to give you a saving throw, so if the wizard successfully identified the spell as it was being cast, he could have known to do that
you can also still drink potions, maybe a potion of invisibility would have saved you, its a very high level spell, i'm surprised you didn't have any escape items (someway to dispel magic or teleport) but i guess that is just the roguelike player in me

>Euphoric Tranquility
>School enchantment (compulsion) [emotion, mind-affecting]
>compulsion, mind-affecting

>Protection from Evil
>the subject immediately receives another saving throw (if one was allowed to begin with) against any spells or effects that possess or exercise mental control over the creature (including enchantment [charm] effects and enchantment [compulsion] effects, such as charm person, command, and dominate person)
>INCLUDING ENCHANTMENT (COMPULSION) EFFECTS
>if successful, such effects are suppressed for the duration of this spell
>immune to any new attempts to possess or exercise mental control over the target

Euphoric Tranquility is an enchantment effect with the compulsion descriptor. This is very explicitly one of the things that Protection from Evil blocks. Ergo, Euphoric Tranquility does not get around Protection from Evil. If you have Protection from Evil going, then no evil character can, mechanically, subject you to any charm or compulsion effect unless the spell is dispelled FIRST. The only exception to this is a very specific case concerning Nocticula, who as a CR 30 Demon Lord I'm pretty sure you did not encounter.

>Am I being a bitch for feeling bullshitted by this? Does Euphoric Tranquility really skirt around the protection from evil rules?

In conclusion. No you're not being a bitch, yes the GM is fucking you over, and no Euphoric Tranquility does not skirt the rules, it should not have worked.

You're correct in that Euphoric Tranquility does not have a SAVE against it, but that has nothing to do with whether or not it can actually affect you at all, because you are immune to any new attempts to possess or otherwise exercise mental control over you. As an Enchantment effect with the COMPULSION descriptor, this falls under the definition of something Protection from Evil will protect against.

This is the biggest failing of the Enchantment school, incidentally: a level 1 spell defeats 80% of it.

Your gm is retarded, if you do something against your nature you straight up won't, such as, why would you remove your armor, why would you listen to evil beings that aren't the person who cast the spell, sure they get ONE check, but fuck you if they fail.

But anyway no just leave the table, if the gm did that, than its obvious they either A: have no respect for you as a player and just wanted you out as soon as possible, not caring how obvious it was, or B: they have some retarded plan for you, and trust me, it's gonna be dumb.
>>
>>48206842
I'm supposed to treat everyone there like my friend. I don't just chug invisibility potions when I'm surrounded by friends.

I was asking everyone to stop fighting and blah blah. It's basically a sit around and do nothing situation.

I knew what the spell was because I know most spells but no one could counter it because she was greater invisible at the time (had it contingent and we spent the first couple rounds dealing with her mooks before she fucked me over).

>>48206770
Right, so I was fucked no matter what. Great. What a spell.

There wasn't a diplomacy roll or anything. The GM just said "These people are like your closest friends." Then the whole "Now take of your equipment and come relax with us" thing. Which I had to role play as "Well sure, you're my great friends who I trust!" Naked and useless, he gets captured and killed.
>>
>>48206937
The spell itself calls out for diplomacy checks.

And no, your DM was in the wrong either way.
>>
>>48206873
Nah, there's a FAQ that points out stuff like Confusion, which is a compulsion spell, wouldn't be stopped by protection from evil.

That's what he was saying, anyhow. Only compulsions that exercise "direct" control would be stopped.
>>
>>48206876
Euphoric tranquility says you treat everyone as a friend, not just the caster.

My character would take off his gear when surrounded by friends in a "safe" situation when he was going to rest after a day's adventuring. That's a normal part of the routine. I suppose taking off some of the normal magical gear like rings was a bit much but, if your dear, close friend asked you to why wouldn't you? That's the situation I was playing out, atleast.

I just felt kind of off about the whole thing. I get the idea that risk of death is important, even at high levels, this spell in particular just seems kind of stupid. I understand dying in combat but just role playing me killing myself, knowing I was doing it, didn't feel right.

i would blame your team more than the GM, seemed like there were a lot of outs for a spell level where some spells can instakill you

>The latter interpretation is correct: protection from evil only works on charm and compulsion effects where the caster is able to exercise control over the target, such as command, charm person, and dominate person; it doesn't work on sleep or confusion. (Sleep is a border case for this issue, but the designers feel that "this spell overrides your brain's sleep centers" is different enough than "this spell overrides your resistance to commands from others.")

That FAQ?

If Charm Person is close enough, as >>48206770

This honestly sounds like the DM carefully constructed a scenario designed to get your paladin killed for some plot significance; was there anything special about your guy's soul? Did the DM tell you ANYTHING about where the campaign was going after telling you the Paladin was dead?

Please, run the moments after hearing your guy was dead by us, because that can mean the difference between the DM just trying to make the blood flow, or the DM failing to communicate he thinks the character death will lead to something cool. Since it was a ritual sacrifice, part of me tends towards the latter.

Yeah. I mean I guess a Monk wouldn't give a shit since a Sorcerer isn't hitting their Touch AC without wishing for it, but it's really nasty. It probably wouldn't be so bad if my party could've won the fight without me, but I was the most combat capable member and they got overwhelmed after that.

Most any spell that instakills you gets a save. As a high level paladin I rarely fail saves anyhow. The only other spell I can think of that doesn't give a save that fucks you over similarly hard is Maze (which has some hilarious combinations).

>>48207079
I guess I'll try to bring that up but he's the GM and it seems like he picked that spell as her way to get around Protection from Evil (which, admittedly, is a bit powerful for the level of spell and the amount of protection it gives).

Yeah, your character would not be affected by Euphoric Tranquility, confusion exception or not, euphoric tranquility is 100% a move to compel you to alter your views, and protection from evil shuts that shit right down.

Confusion just messes with your head, and isn't an attempt to control you directly. Even if ET doesn't tell you what to do, it directly alters your perception of reality. That is Compulsion/Charm 101.

Talk to your GM, explain what he did is explicitly illegal, and just have the paladin imprisoned instead of frigging executed off screen, so he can be saved later..
>>
>>48207465
I kinda went with a different approach. I made a small world. One valley, world-enforced barriers, maybe ten or more thousand people.

So /pfg/ I mentioned this in a previous thread, but I was hoping for some more input.

I'm playing in a game where we're the first generation of beings, and I may be in the position to directly affect the make-up of the afterlife and cosmology for several future campaigns.

How should I do this? Should I have elemental planes? What aspects of Pathfinder setting should go and stay go?

Keep in mind this is from the perspective of a Lawful Good creator deity who understands evil/good/law/chaos must exist within safe amounts as a cosmic necessity. So I can't create a reality-spanning utopia, but I could make some.

In addition, he probably wouldn't want to be worshipped directly, but would instead empower people with strong moral views, or who stand up in desperate times. Think of it being the being who grants you power for worshipping a good ideal/concept.

honestly, i think the GM was in the right, you shouldn't have gotten a saving throw, you had a chance to avoid being touched, you can complain to the GM if you really can't handle the death of a character but it might just cause more problems
if your party was more creative they would have come up with a solution to get you out with them instead of just leaving you behind
just create a new character, and its still possible the party can revive you after doing whatever the fuck to free your soul
>>
>>48207657
Actually yeah, having read the FAQ in question, that is what J.J. was recommending, it is only consistent, on-going control.

Now that's bloody stupid and I would encourage you all to ignore J.J. as we always do, because even one-time control spells like ET or Sleep are bloody powerful enough as it is.

Essentially a good chunk of the enchantment school is feast or famine. They're either ridiculously good (make a save or die or in this case, don't make a save and die) or with some prep, you're immune to them.

Ignore him and move on, as always.

Sounds like it was the former then, the DM targeted your character to be destroyed and it worked.

The question you need to ask yourself is if this is a campaign you still want to play, now that the character is done - and he is done, no matter how hard the DM might insist the party could potentially revive you (do you want to spend 2 RL months trying to rescue your Paladin's soul, just to get back on the track?) Are there any concepts or backgrounds you want to play in this campaign, now that you know where it is going?

Also see >>48207498, if the DM insists the character is dead than you'll know he wanted the Paladin dead from that encounter, and it sounds like he just wanted the paladin to die for *nothing*.

Another aspect to remember about Protection from Evil being too good is that it's only a first level spell, which means it is easy as hell to dispel first.

Any character of that level can easily dispel that, giving you at least some warning. If the argument is seriously that if you get hit by a touch attack you should die, I think we've lost sight of how to work to balance casters.

Casters shouldn't need to be balanced, magic is inherently better than raw physical skill.

We're talking about a setting where post-human Gods rule large expanses of the world with impunity, and the greatest examples of non-magical martials is a level 12 swashbuckler.

This is not the setting for caster balance, it never has and never will be.

I call complete and utter bullshit, anon.

This is also a setting where sufficient training (ie monks) lets you run up walls or along water. Where you can burst your hands into flame by training how, without every studying explicit magic.

That's why I support Initiating in my campaigns, because it is both the natural extension of training to fight in a magical setting, and how to balance casters and martials.

This isn't a jump, but Pathfinder and D&D have shot themselves in the foot by trying to have Lord of the Rings martials exist side-by-side with world-hopping Dr Strange types. Why aren't career badasses mastering supernatural fighting styles when they already exist in setting?

The hero's rise or becoming a badass is 90% a result of the DM providing good plot development that creates that badassery.

It's that, and gameplay opportunities to showcase that badassery. If all you're doing is fighting a handful of kobolds or bandits at a time, it feels like a grind.

I was playing a theoretically powerful character, but I wasn't feeling it until I wrangled a teleporting adult green dragon in mid-air.

Interesting and dynamic combat encounters are important to keeping a character engaged, rather than just box stone room with some skeletons.

http://www.archivesofnethys.com/TraitDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Wild%20Shadow

So, how the fuck does this work, exactly?

Is this basically just Hide in Plain Sight in a favored-terrain restricted trait? Is it supposed to mean invisible, or unobserved like Stealth normally does?

>>48208593

>>
What are somesome inquisitors archetypes who trade off teamwork feats and solo tactics?
>>
>>48208627
It's NOT Hide in Plain Sight. HIPS lets you hide even while being observed provided you meet the conditions (within 10' of a shadow, in selected terrain). What this lets you do is act as if you had cover you could hide behind even if you don't, provided you're in the appropriate terrain. You can't use it while you're being observed, but if you Bluff to stealth you can hide even if there's nothing for you to hide behind.
>>
>>48208657

Is it theft, though, if they give the money to you? Your time and effort is clearly valuable, you're out to save the world, after all. And without money, how will you afford the equipment and resources needed to protect the people from more dangerous threats?

All you're doing is magically reminding them of the realities of your respective situations.
>>
>>48208515
>>48208574

These posts just triggered a memory I had of a 15 PB campaign I joined where the DM insisted we were badasses when hitting level 3 after fighting nothing but skeletons and goblins through some Necromancer's lair. That's the moment I realized the "low power means any power is special" argument is bullshit.

I didn't feel like a hero. The only time I felt like a hero was with my "high-powered" ZweiSent rending an entire squad apart during a siege in full view of the defenders.

Heroics were always performed by great men and women against multitudes of the mundane, why did it suddenly go from that to "a peasant that found a sword is now a hero?"
>>
>>48208711
If the only reason they're giving money to you is through magical coercion then yes, it's theft.
>>
>>48208647

I'm literally considering a brewmaster or trapper so he can insist the real money, and the safe money at that, is in making alcohol or getting pelts.

Imagine the DM when we insist on going out to hunt foxes and wolves, or the occasional bear.
>>
>>48208724

And expecting you to protect them without any reward or recompense is not?
>>
Defensive Reach means my ZweiSent can attack adjacent squares without a penalty on his spear, right?

Or does that only apply for AoO done on adjacent enemies?
>>
>>48208777
No. It'd only be theft if they said they would pay you to save them, and then they refused. They're heroes not mercenaries.
>>
>>48208746
Make it Brewmaster, that's got some money in it with the Dwarven Magic Ales plus everyone loves a good drink. Trapper's a bit too dangerous with the dire animals and all that, plus the chance of catching something way out of your CR.
>>
>>48208690
But why does it reference invisibility? Invisibility doesn't do anything beyond the +40 to stealth. Surely it had to mean unobserved?
>>
>>48207995
>and the greatest examples of non-magical martials is a level 12 swashbuckler
If you're referring to "greatest non-magical martial" that's not strictly true. I think you mean this thread:

http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2tk4j?Golarion-needs-some-epicmythic-swordsmen-women

Setting aside the hilarity of "being awesome and badass is a job for the PCs" being different if you're a martial versus a spellcaster (lots of 15-20 NPC casters, almost no 15-20 NPC martials), PF lacks swordspeople who are alive in general.

A couple of people in that thread did a breakdown of who might or might not qualify, but it's a dismal list that hasn't been improved in recent times. That thread also had somebody point out that martials don't feature in the ending of APs as final bosses, and the shit that apparently goes on in the PF Tales line just indicates that Paizo don't know about martials anyway. Such is life.
>>
>>48208839
Invisibility counts as concealment, which again allows you to stealth.
>>
>>48208869
Yes, but why does a trait mention invisibility? It's a specific spell, SLA, or really rare SU ability that already bakes in the ability to use stealth. All other references to stealth mention having cover/concealment, and being unobserved.
>>
>>48208891
Because it's mentioning that you can attempt stealth checks as if you were using invisibility or cover without having either of those? I'm not sure why you're getting confused here.
>>
>>48208939
Because it saying that you can do it without cover, but not when observed, makes it worthless. It means that the instant an enemy turns around and sees you tiptoeing around, you're spotted, and then it's ruined.

>after finding some large pylons we dispatch a few tree ents that pop up
>More searching, find some more, non hostile ents, tell us we must find the breath of the God to activate the pylons and enter a portal
>eventually they call down their master, a green dragon, and he explains to our dumb asses what they meant(acid breath)
>activate the pylons, and suddenly the ent turns on us at the portal
Big mistake for him
>Our party samurai, through GM fuckery and Magic, has a Crit range of 10-20( yes I know, but we're just running with it)
>samurai proceeds to RULE OF NATURE it's ass and slices the fuck in half with 175 dmg
Did I mention the 10-20 Crit range?
>The dragon swoshes down, goes "well fuck", and calls his friend, the bronze dragon, to help
>My necromancer casts suffocation(no breathing), and the green dragon gets Crit to death by the Samurai
>The other casts repulsion and the battle last for a while, before, after sad necromancer raised the previous dragon, and another suffocation(last resort) is cast, our antipaladin finished it off while it was unconscious
Needless to say our samurai now had the nickname Raiden, and we now have a pet Frostfallen dragon.

Our party isn't too happy with the God who called us, and I can only imagine what the gm is gonna throw at us next, given how we keep one upping him in, not that we keep meaning to, he's a good guy, just he's still getting used to the combat part of pathfinder, though this was the most difficult battle we've had.

Yes, and you can use Blood Money to produce expensive material components for spells whose products or effects can be sold.

There is also a somewhat cheesy technique where you magic jar into a whale to get upwards of 50 Str so you can cover the cost of a Wish in Str damage.

I need the coolest concept you've got floating around for a depowered god seeking a return to his lofty heights. I've got five domains and a portfolio to make, any suggestions?

I'm seriously considering making a blatant Dark Souls rip-off and create some heavy-metal King of the Storm, Heir to the Sky sort of bullshit... But the question is, would that be a Warlord or a ZweiSent?

Deflected.jpg
41KB, 640x263px
So, here's something I just realized a bit ago that I feel the need to share with everyone here, about an underused feat called Deflect Arrows, and its more advanced form, Snatch Arrows.

You see, Deflect Arrows has several clauses for its use, and they are as follows:
>"You must have at least one hand free (holding nothing) to use this feat."
>"You must be aware of the attack and not flat-footed."
>"Unusually massive ranged weapons (such as boulders or ballista bolts) and ranged attacks generated by natural attacks or spell effects can't be deflected."

This means that the following can be deflected by Deflect Arrows:
>Bullets
>Lasers
>EMP shots
>Death Rays
>Machinegun fire
>Rockets

Furthermore, "deflecting" an attack in Pathfinder is weird. you don't cause it to veer off course, you don't knock it out of the way. You just need a "free hand" and to know it's coming and it does no damage to you; weapon effects still go off, you're just unaffected. this means that the rocket you just deflected? You just put your hand in its way and no-sold the entire fucking explosion - which still occurred, you were just undamaged by it.

But wait, it gets better. Snatch Arrows allows you to grab anything you can deflect out of the air, meaning you can literally catch incoming laser fire. That's some exalted level shit right there.
>>
>>48212228
>>48212322
Okay. For some reason I have this thing in my mind where I can use prestidigitation in a shell game as well as bluffing/sneaking my way into people's homes to steal their stuff
>>
>>48212432
It says just as much on the firearms page of the srd. In addition you block all of the damage and effects associated with the attack roll, so you block both arrows of Manyshot.
>>
>>48211930
>I'm a site veteran though.
Is there any chance of getting in if you're NOT a site veteran?
>>
>>48212432
Deflect Arrows is a very heavy counter to initiators who use ranged strikes.
Honestly, I'm not sure if that's good for the game or not, since it just encourages them to switch back to ranged full attacks.
>>
>>48212432
The 1pp "counters" are more uncommon than the PoW ones and have feat taxes, but usually they're better than PoW ones if for no other reason than you can use them every round.
>>
>>48212566

Probably, only one person's been accepted so far and they don't seem that new to me.

>Swashbuckler
>Not including the most charismatic mundane discipline Fool's Errand
>Not fluffing Lock as wrapping and pulling around enemies with your whip

Recovery method just seems like a strictly worse defensive focus: not that you should aim to equal a full initiator, but it's more the way it doesn't really do anything new.

Initiating Swashbuckler now has access to boosts and counters and so has even more swift action economy problems, so things like Crack of the Whip aren't helping.

As mentioned, I recommend making Get Over Here and Dread Garrote tie into Grasp instead.

I like the melee Tempest Gale ability, fits a whip master a lot. Needs to be worded better, though.
If you go with the Fool's Errand suggestion I'd let them use whips as unarmed strikes for FE maneuvers as well.

I don't see why they get Thrashing Dragon?

>>48212903
>I don't see why they get Thrashing Dragon?

Something to keep in mind about using whips for unarmed strikes:
Their low damage dice and crit range/multiplier is the reason the 'unarmed only' rule is enforced - which means it's fine to replace them with a 1d4 whip, but be very careful about letting it work with anything deadlier from the flail group.
>>
>>48213045
It's a default flavor decision.
Edge Lord harbinger trades a discipline out for Unquiet Grave even though all harbingers could optionally do that by default anyway.

Generally there are a lot of small things it affects, but my point is that it's something that does make a difference.

What sort of Waifus should I include in the smutty online run of Kingmaker that I'm doing (basically punctuating all the boring parts with smut)?

Right now, the player character is a male Kitsune Mystic and Swordlord (pic related, I don't do furries). Current party/harem is a pair of twins devoted to Shelyn - one's a Cleric, the other's an Ordained Defnder - and a slave girl they rescued from bandits in a reimagined version of the first encounter, who is a Hawkguard. They're also about to pick up a Polymath Alchemist who will be taking over the running of the trading post (given that Oleg is dead).

He's an optional NPC that they included in Hell's Rebels 4 because it was book 100. It includes optional NPCs for all the previous APs and notes on where they can fit in.

Are there any 1PP options to get different mystery revelations for an oracle either via item or feat?
>>

Ring of Revelation.

That got FAQ'd to not work.

After being FAQ'd to work.

So most recent word is no.

Going to start a game for the first time, and everyone but one guy are making new chars at level three but one guy wants to use a char he already has

Is that a thing? The DM is allowing it, but I thought characters were one shot for a campaign
>>
>>48214883
It is a thing, but it's kind of a cringe thing to do, for a number of reasons.
If the DM okayed it then there's not much else you can do about it, though.
>>
>>48214883
A lot of people make characters before they would get to use them. Do you mean that he has used the character before or that he just had the build in reserve?
>>
Lets say, hypothetically, I want to play a nine-tailed Kitsune - which means taking Magical Tail eight times. What's the best way to do this and not be terrible?

Further, lets say the nine-Tailed Mystic archetype from Everyman Gaming is available. It's for oracles or sorcerers, replaces all your bloodline/mystery spells with Magical Tail as a bonus feat but leaves everything else intact. What would a good bloodline or mystery choice for that be?

What class and race would you guys consider Aldrich, Devourer of Gods to be?

What would be his domains if I turned him into a god?

Lunar or lore

Thinking of building a Mermaid modeled after Shyarly from One Piece in appearance.

But can't choose between a Master Summoner to fuck with the GM, or an Empyreal Knight Cetaceal.

Which is more fun for this slow as fuck race.
>>
>>48215036
He was canonically human before becoming all oozey.

Domains that make sense are Destruction (Torture, he liked to hear his victims scream), Evil (Cannibalism, self explanatory), Luck (Imagination) or Madness (Nightmare, both appropriate due to his dreams while eating other gods), and maybe Water (Oceans, due to his visions of 'a coming age of the deep sea).

Arcane is foolproof for sorcerers, but Sylvan or Fey are both alright. Literally no reason not to take Arcane though. You can even still be an enchantment sorcerer since your FCB will kick in pretty soon. Hell, you could ask your GM if you could just fluff the spells you get from your bloodline as your extra tails and ignore the feats, because having more spells known is better than the magical tail feats.

For oracles? Fuck if I know, but they have the wrecking mysticism curse from 1pp that does exactly what you want. Lunar and Lore are both pretty good though.

Your kitsune better not be furshit, senpai
>>
>>48215106
Well he won't be a muzzle kitsune, but I do intend to play him as a duplicitous womanizing bastard with luxuriously fluffy tails so I dunno if that counts.
>>
>>48215106

Where is this image from, anyway? The thought of an adorable Kitsune actively supporting both teams in a competition amuses me.

Mostly because it basically fits their modus operandi.
>>
My group is going into Carrion Crown soon. So far it's a brute vigilante, an unchained monk, and a paladin. What class should I go? No third party classes or races allowed, but third party feats allowed on a case by case basis. 25 point buy.
>>
>>48215164
I'd recommend an arcane caster or someone that can fake at being one (like an Alchemist). You'll want a source of AoE damage for the obligatory Pathfinder AP Low-Level Swarmâ„¢, and ranged damage is also good.
>>
>>48215164
9th level caster of your taste

Alternatively - Occultist
>>
/pfg/ what's the best Rogue-like character that isn't actually a Rogue? Looking to be able to stab dudes, sneak around and deal with traps. 3rd party allowed as long as it's on d20pfsrd.
>>
>>48214997
He said he used it in other groups and didn't want to "waste" it because he put a lot of rp work into it

I'm new to pathfinder so I don't know if this is normal or he's being shitty
>>
>>48215164
You need range and some level of buffing support. Alchemist, Eldritch Archer Magus, pretty much any pure Arcane Caster.
>>
>>48215311
I've never seen that before, but I wouldn't say he's being shitty quite yet. I'd reserve judgement until seeing it in action.
>>
>>48215311
Well, there's two options:

1. He's a weirdo who obsesses over his OC donut steel

2. He wrote up a character for another game, the other game crashed and burned, and now he wants to reuse the character so it's not wasted effort

>>48215276
Investigator. You get skills and sneaky stuff out the wazoo plus alchemy to deal with exotic stuff.

Or, stalker from Path of War.

Or, play a hidden blade unchained rogue: http://pathminder.github.io/base-classes/rogue-hidden-blade-unchained/
>>
>>48215360
What he said. Investigator is amazing.
>>
>>48215078
Not sure, I'm not even that knowledgable about One Piece.
However you can mitigate the slow speed with the Strong Tail racial trait

>3rd party allowed as long as it's on d20pfsrd.
What about if an anon were to give you free screencaps (not sure if in Trove or not) for you to share with the DM?

Granted it would be much more geared towards Traps than purely sneaking and stabbing
>>
>>48215360
There are a lot of people who pre plan several characters ahead of time so they can join a campaign on a moments notice.
>>
>>48215406
Probably won't work but I'm listening. What'd you have in mind?

>>48215360
Investigator or Stalker looks good. I'd probably just roll Hidden Blade but I'm not sure how the DM feels about it since no d20pfsrd, I'll ask.
>>
>>48215451
Unchained Rogue is on d20pfsrd, Hidden Blade is in Path of War Expanded and the Hidden Blade maneuvers are in PoW and PoW:E. I think both of those are in the trove in the link in the OP, so you could share the PDFs with the DM.
>>
>>48215406
Do you want trapfinding twice?

Because alchemists can get trapfinding twice.

Three times if you're a kobold.

Four times if you take a Rogue VMC
>>
>>48215486
Pretty sure the DM just wants to be able to lazy reference d20pfsrd (which I get, that shit is nice) and also to slow-roll 3rd party stuff so he doesn't feel overwhelmed (which... I kinda geet, even though it's annoying since it's not like the site updates super quick). I mean, I legit own PoW:E so that's not the problem.
>>
>>48215527
Just send him the PDFs and tell him to not be dumb.
>>
>>48215451
Nevermind, just checked the Trove, and its in there.

>>
>tfw anons are all too lazy to apply to pfsrd and add DSP stuff onto there
>>
>>48215899

I mean, if it's really important to you that it happens, you could always do it.
>>
>>48215899
I've been considering doing it, I don't have any experience in formatting though.
>>
>>48215927
Not even that anon, just thinking that for all the DSP appreciation it's surprising it hasn't gotten done.

>>48215958
It's intuitive enough and with enough guides to figure out easily. For the style to use, just reference other pages.
>>
>>48215899
QANON's adding Spheres I think.
>>
>>48212790
And there's literally nothing you can do about it either. You just... lose. Even on a natural 20, you just lose.

One more reason to stick to nothing but full attacks.

Incidentally, if any of y'all use Github, I would appreciated data contributions for the Pathminder project I've been working on:
https://github.com/pathminder/pathminder-data

Instead of using formatted HTML like d20pfsrd does, I have data files that then get turned into the output. This allows for some magic with automatically generating section 15 notices, making spell indexes automatically, cross-linking sources and so on.

For example:
https://github.com/pathminder/pathminder-data/blob/master/data/maneuvers/ancient-lich-parry.cson

This is also open for anyone else to use as a data source for their own projects.

Does Black Seraph make a good discipline for enemy boss fights? Villain who's getting it is a Zweihander Sentinel.
>>
>>48216161
A lot of maneuvers from the discipline involve self-harm, so if you aren't worried about letting it end too quickly, then sure.
>>
>>48215991
Well, here's hoping they don't have mythic deflect arrows, then.

>>48216161
It can be tricky, as it's likely to crush your paladins/misc good heroes if you're not careful.

Vampiric Aura will sap 2d6 from each party member per round and heal it for the damage done.

I'm a personal fan of Unquiet Grave as a boss discipline, as bleed damage can be intimidating without party cooperation, you can make them more resistant to your average mind-affect single enemy shut down spells and if they are undead/have undead goons, they can heal them, but stereotypical undead boss is stereotypical.

Dude's an Orc, vaguely Saracen, campaign is Path of War Only. Well, actually, no, blatantly saracen, as the campaign is basically "Hot Nordic Vikings in Various States of Undress Repel Saracen Invaders", with basically all the good-guys being Sami, Nordic, and Japanese/Mongolian in terms of appearance (like, the first clan the PCs encounter and eventually join with is lead by a non-furfag Kitsune exiled from the "Land of the Dawn" to the "Land of the Midnight Sun", as his people call them).

Basically a "Westsploitation" campaign.

The Code Names for each planned segment are even based off of metal songs.
>>
>>48216351
non-furfag kitsune

I don't understand

Which of warder, stalker, or warlord is better to get Bushi with if we want to go full RULES OF NATURE?

So a JoJo campaign?

>>48216381
Kitsune come in two flavors: furfag and weeaboo
>>
>>48216381
You know how Pathfinder Kitsune are fucking furries, basically foxes walking on two legs?

Fuck that furfaggotry. Dude looks like a half-elf with fox tails. An old half-elf, because he's old as fuck and wants to unite the barbarian clans under his banner.

>>48216401
More Conan than Jojo, to be honest.

The players start with nothing but a set of prison rags and a knife. By the end of things, they'll be kings (at least, that's the intent). Meanwhile, the fur bikini and loincloth appear to be in vogue, even though they're both impractical for the weather.
>>
>>48216382
Warlord.

Warders are your area-denial anime types, where they have a bubble they cut anytime anything enters it.

Stalkers are your ninjas. Your Strider Hiryus. While Raiden is a 'cyborg ninja', he really doesn't act like one.

He fucking blows down the front door because he's so far past sneaking as a concept, it's more efficient to go as the crow flies, which is directly through your chest.

Yeah, mythic deflect arrows means complete immunity to ranged attacks. The end.

Two feats and a mythic. Total immunity.
