Imagine having to spend multiple turns setting up delirium, casting it, then finally activating it's ability and only doing a pittance of damage against just one person, assuming it doesn't eat removal. Actually, surprisingly effective. I'm speaking as a guy that's played it before. You've got several free spells (slaughter pact, the other free kill spells, potentially not of this world), several rituals (dark ritual, cabal ritual, a graveyard based ritual), several one mana tutors (vampiric tutor, demonic consultation, spoils of the vault). Combine all that with being able to chain the effects off of something like an oblivion stone (even if tosh dies, he sees the other creatures your opponents control going to the graveyard, and he triggers), and you almost have yawgmoth's will on a general.

Darkness
Sudden Spoiling
Tainted Pact (yeah this seems absurd in EDH, until you fill your deck with so many non basics that the risk of ever hitting two swamps is extremely low. Don't forget to split your basic mana base between snow and non snow to lower it even further)
Doomsday (not an instant, but super fun to play)


I've played toshiro for years, and storm was just one of the ways I played him. He's super fun, and can be very competitive if you want him to be.

Make sure to include some non storm win conditions too.

Tainted Pact will always produce salt (and if you cast it on an opponent's creature, you should get the packs)
Hatred
Exsanguinate.

I did it in mono black colors though by just casting tainted pact on an enemy gisela attacking somebody else after no blockers were declared. It's a cheap combat trick. Plus if you manage to pull it off right. You can get a few +1/+1 counters on your next upkeep and a couple of tokens. Essence flux is amazing though. Surprise indestructible/double strike/trample/lifelink is a beautiful trick to pull especially with the 1/1 generator.

Why do you guys want to play werewolf tribal so badly? Getting them to flip is difficult outside your own turn (and you probably loose a shitton of tempo if you choose not to do anything just to flip them). Flipping them back to humans is piss easy with 3 other people playing. It's super vulnerable to boardwipes and spot removal. Not to mention, it's probably annoying as fuck to take them out of the sleeves all the time when you flip/unflip them.

I have a straight up copy/steal effect decks. runs some counters and a few utility cards to help prevent it get not fucked. But the meat of the deck are all clone and steal effects, it has no win cons outside of building your own set of win cons from your opponents decks. Runs thada adel as commander. It's super fun, does well and never plays the same twice.

EDH doesn't have to be complex. Long as you have something mindful of the difference of scale in the format (deck size, life totals, commander damage) and number of players if you don't opt for duel commander, you'll be fine. Original Kozilek is better. Menace is a non factor most of the time and the unconditional draw 4 is more reliable imo. He's a much better win condition by himself cause of Annihilator. The disrupting shoal effect on Newzilek is unreliable and you cant expect to catch everything with 3 other people playing stuff. The only thing that Newzilek has over OG Kozilek is him not attracting as much hate initially cause people get triggered by Annihilator.

Also, if you plan to play colorless seriously, and not dumb shit like eldrazi tribal, then be prepared to spend a pretty penny on key cards and lands. No, you cant go 40 Wastes.

I'm guessing because the community cried for a legendary version of huntmaster of the fells for years. Whether you like him or not, he is definitely a legendary remix of huntmaster.

Today's commander players are really spoiled. The face cards of commander precon products are hyper-linear and encourage degeneracy.

Geist of saint traft and most of the ravnica legends aren't really linear build-around cards. Most of them aren't great at all compared to Prossh and their ilk. Those cards didn't generate any hatedom, and some are still popular commanders. People forget that some legendary creatures are just decent bodies with a few bonus effects rather than being super obvious engine cards. I'm guessing that MaRo doesn't feel like contributing to the arms race of cards designed for commander. MaRo doesn't have anything to do with the CMD products.

Ulrich is just born in the wrong generation. If he was printed in the first Innistrad, nobody would have a problem with him. If giest of saint traft was printed today after years of asking for a legendary spirit, people would cry about it not being linear enough.

The new legends too. None of them are top tier IIRC. Only a few of them saw standard play, and the majority of them to not encourage a super linear deck.

A sorcery that gives +4/+4 until end of turn, gives you a 4/4, then eventually becomes a 6/6 that deals 6 damage to a creature IS above rate for a five-mana creature. Huntmaster of the fells was criminally underestimated before four copies of it won a pro tour. Ulrich may even see Standard play, despite being weaker than huntmaster.

Hell, huntmaster as legendary would overall be a weaker commander than ulrich. Dealing 4 damage to something and making a 2/2 is lower impact than a +4/+4 and dealing 6. Ulrich actually has a board presence and huntmaster just has less of a board presence in a 40 life format.

Rofellos has a pretty major restriction in that you need a lot of forests. In the standard competitive 3-color 3/3/9 configuration, you're running maybe 6 or seven forests (2 shocks, 2 duals, a few basics). He might be strong in low-power groups where lots of basics are run, but there are a lot of things that low-power groups think are bullshit.

I'm not a huge fan of upheaval because it has no answers unless you're also playing blue, and adds a huge degree of power to a color that already has too much

I prefer the balance and limited resources over MLD because they at least leave some resources on the board, allowing opponents to have answers/additional plays
