Why aren't you playing a kitsune vigilante (night terror) with Innocuous Servant, Companion to the Lonely, a Traveler's Any-Tool, and Rough and Ready who pretends to be a loving maid and fights with mops and brooms?

From the last Thread ill reword what I said, we have a guy in our group that is kinda being a baby when stuff does not go the way he wants it. Last week his character Who is literally Qrow from RWBY died, but we had a res scroll, well it didn't go the way it was ment to and it turned into a reincarnation scroll and he came back as a Tengu, he pitched a fit and said his character was just going to kill himself when he woke up. This week he got over it, but with crit failures, he killed another in our party and ended up dying because he was a retard and decided to attack a random encounter NPC. So the NPC decided to kill him in retaliation after my character calmed them down. now he is acting like a baby about it when we where trying to plan our game next week saying stuff like "you do whatever you want, I wont be there" any advice to get him over it?

>Star Archon
Legitimately the most powerful archon. Only special ability is a self destruct half the power of a Balor's.
Admittedly, the rebirth is okay. But it wouldn't win a fight against any of the other most powerful outsiders with it.

Spell-likes are alright, but it's already a 19th level caster at that point. So it has miracle. Better spells than a Balor, except lack of guaranteed summoning.
Less damaging than a Pit Fiend, quickened fireball is really nice.

300 hp. 34 AC. No holy aura. Regen, though.

Balor: 370HP. 36 AC. Constant unholy aura. No regen.
Pit Fiend: 350 HP. 38 AC. Constant unholy aura. Regen.
Solar: 363 HP. 44 AC. Holy aura prepared, but better SR, AC and resists without it. Better regen than any other as well.

In summary, the only thing Star Archons have going for them is decent spells, but they get outdamaged by Pit Fiend's spells and get out everything'd by Solars. The only one they have an advantage on is Balors, which have a higher CL anyways, and have the resistances, straight up immunity and health to tank the more damaging spells.

Avengers get Mad Rush, but the Agathiel can get pounce from Beast Shape at level 8, with Avenger /OR/ Stalker specialization. If you go with catfolk and dex, you can then do it without a penalty to boot. Admittedly, you could also do a tiefling variant to do a Str build and just wear fullplate, but that's something else entirely.

What about 3pp?

You can't go wrong with Oracle Paladin.

Oracle 2 | Paladin 2
Oracle 3 | Warlord 3
Battle Templar 10 | Oracle/Warlord 10 (your preference)
Oracle 5 | Warlord 5

So for anyone here who has played evil characters, do your characters tend to know they're evil, or are they convinced otherwise? If they're convinced otherwise, how would they react to condemnation from a Paladin?

>>48036701
The main benefit of running both at the same time is that you can make use of both through Battle Templar, rather than be either casting or initiating.

I'm not a fan of just banning options, it's much easier just to suggest that if you're advancing a gish class and one of its main classes at the same time, that advancement is separate. The spell pool or maneuvers are separate as if you were advancing a separate spellcasting or initiating class.

No surprise there.

It's worth noting that the enemy can just close his eyes and swing into your square for a flat 50% miss chance without dealing with mirror images, in case you have Mirror Image active with an ability that grants a 50% miss chance, like Displacement,
>>
>>48036536
Don't bother actually giving this nigger advice, I've seen his threads on reddit, he's been posting this shit for months and responds to every bit of criticism with anger and willful ignorance. When he started on this project he fully ignored the fact that there were two archetypes that did the 20 level arcane archer schtick already. He unironically told others that a class with full BAB and 9-level casting was not OP. This dude is either a troll or a legitimate retard. It's actually kind of sad.
>>
>>48036850
That is, ironically, a better plan than trying to hit more than one mirror image at a time. Higher success rate.

Shame it doesn't last very long.

>>48036788
No it is not. Gestalt doesn't explicitly rule anything on the topic.

"But if it takes up both “class slots” for a gestalt characters, it’s no more powerful than taking a level in the barbarian/wizard gestalt."

it mentions that class combination PrCs should not be allowed out of concerns for complication, but doesn't make a rule on it, just a recommendation. You can always either waive it, at a particularly high level campaign, or spend both gestalt classes to advance in it anyways.
>>
>>48036850
Holy fucking metagaming, shitlord.
>>
>>48036891
To be fair, if someone encounters mirror images enough, they might actually decide to go "fuck it" and just swing wildly with their eyes closed. "It can't be worse than what I'm already dealing with", after all.

It's not ONLY devils that corrupt, it's not ONLY daemons that do bad things with souls; surely demons or devils occasionally go "eh, why not" and nom one outright instead of selling it or making some new magic item out of it.

I told him exactly what the Warder's weaknesses are, including its lack of any real ranged options, plus vulnerability to touch attacks and AoEs, along with its weak Reflex and Will saves, and he still thinks it's too strong.

He doesn't believe in the Martial/Caster Disparity based on anecdotal evidence from his own sessions, he is adamant that Armored Hulk is better than Invulnerable Rager despite that I ran the numbers to show him specifically how much better IR is, and he believes TWF is the best form of melee attacking, with einhander a close third after two-handed.

I've given up on appealing to reason and decided to let actions speak louder than words, and give him some useful anecdotal evidence by playing an Archmage Magaambyan Arcanist in our Mythic campaign as the only casting-focused character in a party that otherwise consists of a Brawler, a Bloodrager, and a Warpriest. So far we've run through several encounters in which I've managed to avoid damage completely with Mirror Dodge and a Fly speed good enough to automatically pass checks to hover and solve encounters in one action with a Mythic Color Spray.

Assume following situation:
- You play as a Sorcerer (Arcane Bloodline, Human), levels 01-10
- All usual "must-have" spells are already covered
- Your other (usual) spells already makes you powerful enough in whatever field you want (blasting, bfc, debuffs, etc)
- You have two "free" spell-known slots per spell-level

Goal is to use that free slots on some thematic spells. To make said sorcerer more interesting to play ("as" and "with"), not just more powerful. On what spells would you use those "free slots"?

No, that response will be only on spells that are offered in every "what spell should I take" thread and every sorcerer\wizard handbook.
I'm looking for something interesting and more rare. Spells that are fun, but you'd avoid them 'cause there is another absolutely needed practical spell we all know about, that you should take instead.
If I'd mention any spell list, it'd be a discussion about something like "X spell is better then Y for a blaster" or "you totally should take debuff X, you don't have enough %savename%-targeting debuffs yet". That's why I left "main" spell list obscured. It's irrelevant. Consider, that you already have all your favored blasts, buffs, bfc, etc.

How do pricing work for adding other ability into weapon/armor?

Lesser Luck Mail is a +1 Chain shirt with +1 luck to all saving throw.

It's 3,750gp. Is it because...

Armor Component: Masterwork Chain Shirt is 250gp

+1 Luck Saving Throw is 2,000

Multiple different abilities = *1.5 on lower cost on Armor bonus (enhancement) = 1000*1.5 = 1500?

Is this the right formula?

Is there an Initiator Aegis archetype?
I'm trying to find a way to advance the initiator level of my Warsoul 2 / Aegis 3
>>
>>48039340
No. Pricing on magic armor and magic weapons works differently from other items. Enchantment bonuses and +x equivalent enchantments work independently from enchantments that have flat gold cost, and even if you have multiple enchantments with gold cost, there's no multiplication involved. So the correct cost would be 250gp for masterwork, 1000gp for +1 enchantment, and 2500gp for +1 luck bonus to saving throws. Do note, though, that if it isn't listed separately, adding the luck bonus to other kind of armor would be a custom magic item and the price would be at GM's discretion.
>>
>>48039340
>>48039428

+1 luck saving throw = 2000 GP
+1 enhancement = 1000 GP
Secondary magic item cost for the above = 500 GP
Masterwork = 250 GP

Hm.

Wow, Signifier Masks defend real fucking good vs visual attacks if you want them to.

There's the +2 that a signifier gets normally while wearing it, and if you have it set as Smoked Goggles, then it's a total of +10. Since the Mask's bonus is Competence and the Smoked Goggles bonus is Circumstance, it stacks.

Pity about that 20% miss chance. Although I suppose Improved Blindfight is a thing.
>>
>>48039407
There is not an initiator archetype for it, however there IS a customization that grants you access to maneuvers, called Initiator's Soul. It's in PoWE.
>>
>>48039407

Path of War: Expanded, page 37:
>Initiator’s Soul: The aegis gains the ability to learn and ready martial maneuvers.

Path of War: Expanded, page 72:
>Practiced Initiator (Combat): Pick an initiating class—your initiator level in that class gains a +2 trait bonus as long as this bonus does not raise your initiator level above your current Hit Dice.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/psionics-unleashed/feats/student-of-the-astral-suit
>Benefit: Treat your class level as four higher to determine your number of customization points and which customizations you can select for your astral suit, to a maximum of your character level.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/psionics-unleashed/feats/fighter-s-blade
>Benefit: Treat your class level as four higher to determine your enhanced mind blade class feature and which blade skills you can select, to a maximum of your character level.

>Forrest, is the table for archetype maneuver progression based on class level or on initiator level?
><Forrest> initiator
><Forrest> sorry it's vague

An aegis 4/soulknife (gifted blade, psychic armory, war soul) 4 with Student of the Astral Suit, Fighter's Blade, and Practiced Initiator has 3rd-level war soul maneuvers, enhanced panoply +3, an 8th-level astral suit for the purpose of customizations and customization points, and 2nd-level maneuvers selectable via Initiator's Soul.

However, you will have to focus on Wisdom and, on your aegis side, avoid any maneuvers and stances that call for your initiation modifier. Alternatively, you can be fully Intelligence-based as a soulknife (gifted blade, living legend) 4/aegis 4, but then you are neither a psychic armory nor a war soul, and gaining 3rd-level maneuvers via Initiator's Soul is not quite as good as it sounds due to maneuver prerequisite speedbumps.

>>
>>48039557
High Psionic setting makes Soulknifes keep both Psychic Strike and Powers. That's up to the DM though.
>>
>>48039557

Psionics Augmented: Soulknives, page 14:
>Soulknives, High Psionics Campaigns, and You: Depending on the type of campaign world you play in, if the GM would call it a ‘high psionics campaign’, it would be within reason to allow soulknives to add the manifesting and power progression of the Gifted Blade archetype to all soulknives by default, for a more ‘psionic’ soulknife. This gives the soulknife more of a competitive edge in a world where manifesting and/or magic is highly dominant without compromising the combat abilities of the class. The Gifted Blade archetype in return adds some additional flexibility as well as in and out of combat versatility to the soulknife that lets it stand as both a combative and psionic equal to classes like the psychic warrior or marksman. In games with higher levels of expertise, powerful classes and abilities, or just generally better toys available to people, it would be considered prudent to add the Gifted Blade archetype’s powers to the soulknife to keep them competitive.

According to ErrantX, this is supposed to be a "non-errata soft fix" for the soulknife:

A soulknife (gifted blade, psychic armory, war soul) wants to take mostly passive blade skills anyway.

It is not much more complex than the alchemist/investigator (polymath), the inquisitor/warpriest (warpath follower), or the psychic warrior (pathwalker), all of which are both half-initiators and have up to 6th-level extracts, spells, or psionic powers.

Nor is this type of soulknife particularly complex compared to a full-initiating, power point-spending, collective-managing zealot.

Nor is such a soulknife that much more complex than a single-classed aegis who makes full use of its psionic power, akashic veil, and martial maneuver options.

Oh my fucking god his reddit history

>Arcane Archers tend to be rarely seen, self-educated, and self-governed. They tend to only work with teams that fulfill there need for magic, nature, and intrigue. Arcane Archers are considered non-materialistic, but not in a way a Paladin or Druid would be. They simply see little need for gold and live only to excite themselves. Male Arcane Archers can be selfish, stubborn, and even evil. Female Arcane Archers tend to live in small pods of two or three others female Elves. Typically with other Arcane Archers, Wizards, Rangers, and Sorceresses. They are far more territorial and reluctant to group with non-Elves. Though they are seen committing less acts of evil and caring more for life and nature than male Arcane Archers. They can be evil. They usually decide rear female Elves themselves and send male children to an adoptive family of their choice. Arcane Archers tend to be monogamous with other Arcane Archers, Wizards, and Sorcerers. Rangers, Bards, Druids, and Clerics are rarely chosen as partner and rarely seen as a long term mate. This is most likely for magical progeny or a hold out from tradition Arcane Schools and Bloodlines. Arcane Archers' life spans tend to be normal for their race and rarely do Arcane Archers strive for Lichdom.

This class has way too many dead levels, have something become available each level else no one would want to bother with this class

What is the point of the do not copy declaration? Even Paizo doesn't do that shit
>>
>>48040719
To be fair, nearly all of his dead levels DO progress some class feature or another, like a lot of Paizo's classes, he just didn't deign to put them on the table like literally everyone else ever.

Esquire, order of the tome.

>>
>>48040744
my only problem with order of the tome is the caster level gimping, doesn't seem to be a way to ungimp it for better spells, and scrolls are expensive.

Order of the Tome is a neat concept but 99% of the time you have a full caster in the party who would make better use of every scroll, let alone just outright having the spells to cast.

I think you are suppose to take this feat?

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/esoteric-linguistics

Since you don't get caster level gimp with normal UMD, and the passive "treat ability score as +x higher" is still apply to you.

With +1/2 level Linguistic bonus, it might be good to take Orator too.

Hey /pfg/. I need help understanding the positive/negative energy distinction. So many undead feed on the living, i.e. drain the positive energy to sustain themselves. Yet, cure/inflict effects operate inversely on undead. Furthermore, the sceaduinar inflict negative energy damage against undead, not healing. But to my knowledge nothing inflicts positive energy damage against the living.

What is the logic behind this? It looks inconsistent to me.
>>
>>48041010
>the sceaduinar inflict negative energy damage against undead
It doesn't.
>>
>>48041010
Positive/negative and the undead have been handled terribly since 3rd ed. Although iirc, the positive energy plane can pump you so full of light you explode.
>>
>>48041010
Some things do inflict positive energy damage to the living.

Positive energy is animation, life. Negative energy is stillness and death. The undead don't FEED on positive energy, they want to DESTROY it, so they aren't destroyed BY it.
>>
honestly Esquire Cavalier is just a bad version of summoner.

Honestly Cavalier is just a bad version of summoner.
>>
>>48041029
>Entropic Touch (Ex) A sceaduinar's natural attacks can strike incorporeal creatures as if they were ghost touch weapons. All of a sceaduinar's natural attacks deal +1d6 points of negative energy damage to the target. This energy does not heal creatures healed by inflict spells.

>>48041043
Don't forget that positive energy cleanses disease and negative energy promotes disease. AD&D invented positive energy undead to explain this before 3e dropped the idea.

Also the positive energy plan heals undead too. Lol!
>>
>>48041079
>This energy does not heal creatures healed by inflict spells.
It doesn't heal them, but doesn't damage them either.
Kinda like a Rishi Manu Manasaputra.
>>
>>48041053
To be fair, if your entire "life" was cold silence, except the occasional ping on your "THIS CREATURE IS INHERENTLY INIMICAL TO YOUR EXISTENCE!"-o-vision, you'd probably want to kill them too.
>>
>>48041010
Negative energy is not just 'undeath energy'. It is also the energy which destroys, essentially consuming things. It can do damage to undead by destroying their existence rather than their substance or their ephemeral negative energies. Positive energy can do damage - there are a few spells which do so, and versus creatures which use positive energy to both heal and damage enemies.

Its strictly in application that either one does or does not do damage or healing.
>>
>>48041079
But negative energy isn't evil, despite 90% of things it does being evil to cause/create! Like undead! All evil except those ones Pisso decides need to be good, because they're powered by the not-evil negative energy, that evil clerics channel instead of positive like good!
>>
some advices for aplayer who s gonna play S&S, i already have to choice the class, and probably if i have the possibility i want to become the captain
>>
>>48041053
That makes things even more nonsensical. So vampires drink blood to destroy the positive energy it contains because it's toxic to them? That's absurd.

>>48041084
It doesn't say that. It says it damages the target and doesn't heal undead, but undead are not immune to the damage. The manasaputra entry is written differently.

>>48041091
But that's a later addition that introduces more logical hoops because the basic idea of the energies is nonsensical.

>>48041108
Paizo is insane. They invented prana ghosts (aka Deathless 2.0).
>>
>>48041153

>>
>>48041157
It doesn't explicitly say it hurts them.
Undead are stated to be damaged by positive energy and healed by negative energy. Negative energy affinity trait works the same way.
That ability only states it removes the healing, it doesn't explicitly say it damages undead, therefore it doesn't damage them.
>>
>>48041157
Vampires drink blood because they're sustained by blood. That has nothing to do with positive or negative energy.

Undead, as a classification, don't consume positive energy. Or are you claiming the bog-standard skeleton eats people now?
>>
Is there any way to gain two regional traits?
>>
>>48041183
That's ridiculous. The implication is it's supposed to harm undead.

It doesn't make sense and Paizo retains it because their fans are autist neckbeards who hate logic and change for the better.

Just drop the distinction and replace all instances of positive/negative damage with radiant/necrotic damage (which hurts everyone equally) from the 5e SRD. Healing either works for everyone equally or only works on the living, at GM discretion.

Not really, E8 just opens the door for a few more feats, and most importantly resurrection and teleportation. 4th level spells in general really.
>>
>>48041547
Could you explain E8, senapi. Pretty please.
>>
>>48041619
E6, E8, etc, are game styles where you stop levelling at the given level. Instead of gaining new levels, you just gain another feat. This keeps the power level from going too far out the window. I actaully ran an E6 campaign for nearly six years, and it was one of my best.
>>
>>48041274
If cooking is important probably being a witch is funny.
>>
>>48037015
e8 lets you get leadership and a few other level dependants, but otherwise is the same abouts as e6. most of it boils down to the fact that feats are 1 3 and 6 in 3.5 and 1 3 5 and 7 in pf. so a lot of 6th level feats are now 7th level in pf. but because e6 is a feat heavy system, theres no reason you couldn't house rule the feats in anyway.

I prefer e8 since it gets you to the cleric capstone though.

honestly though AA and EK doesn't lose you that many BABs and levels, it's not full, but near full BAB and arcane spells is already possible. you miss out on 4-5 arcane spell levels total. that gets you everything but 9th level spells. you miss out on 1-2 bab. I have my guides up, can't grab the link from phone. Long story short, nearly every single veil CAN be useful if you see the situation coming (Viziers have an edge here, both in research and in. Veilshifting). None of the Veils are designed to work alone, and few are good in a vacuum.

Get a decent synergy set together, though? Frost from the Polar Snowshoes does evil things to enemy groups that like morale or insight bonuses (like any Barbarian or Bard, or other Veilweavers). That Guru can be an excellent sneak and grease man, then lay out very respectable damage on the other side by shifting essence around. Vizier is legitimately my favorite class in PF for similar reasons.

They know that giants live there, show them evidence of it. Maybe a clearing of chopped trees where they get their wood supplies? A pack of scavengers (or even people) fighting over the dump site of their table scraps, since it would be a lot to us? Sections of stairs or handholds carved into the mountain, sized and spaced for those Giants? Small game being prolific, since they're beneath the notice of the big guys but their larger natural predators are hunted?

Any or none of these can include combat at your choice.

Positive energy powers people and angels and demons and jyoti, negative energy powers diseases and undead and sceaduinar and dhampir and nightshades. The energies cancel one another out like matter and antimatter but less explosively.

Why would diseases and certains types of undead feed on creatures powered by positive energy? That's like a water elemental moving to the plane of fire or vice versa.

QUESTION: when does a shaman gain access to "True Spirit" abilities?

For example, can a level one shaman who chose the life spirit channel energy as a swift action?

Plox help, I'm dming a group and the shaman posed the question. I doubt it, but I want to know the actual rule. I can't find a stated level anywhere.
>>
Let's say you have natural attacks. But they're *ranged* natural attacks.

Do those provoke?
>>
>>48043879
> At 16th level, the shaman gains the abilities listed for the true version of her selected spirit.

Normal Spirit gets it at 16, Wandering Spirit at 20. Refer to the table at http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/hybrid-classes/shaman
>>
>>48043863
That makes no sense. They don't cancel out only at equilibrium: adding positive energy to negative energy removes that amount and vice versa. A disease should drown in its host's positive energy. A vampire should be burned by its victim's positive energy.

Either positive and negative energy are mutually toxic or negative energy consumes positive energy. You can't have both any more than you can have fire vampires that drink water elementals.

>>
>>48043949
>They don't cancel out only at equilibrium: adding positive energy to negative energy removes that amount and vice versa
That's literally how equilibrium would work in this case. They cancel out completely when equal amounts of positive and negative energy interact.

>A disease should drown in its host's positive energy. A vampire should be burned by its victim's positive energy.
This is under the assumption that the body is surging with or made of positive or negative energy rather than being made of mundane material empowered or harmed upon contact with positive or negative energy.
A disease wouldn't drown in a person's positive energy unless any more than a person would drown in a plant's water. Just because the host is revitalized by positive energy doesn't mean that there is a constant flow of that energy throughout the body.

Positive/negative energy powers their respective creatures like electricity powers technology. It constantly runs through them.

>A disease wouldn't drown in a person's positive energy unless any more than a person would drown in a plant's water. Just because the host is revitalized by positive energy doesn't mean that there is a constant flow of that energy throughout the body.
A person would drown in that water. You're making the assumption that lifeforce and positive energy are different when they're the sane thing.

Healing spells kill disease, not make it flourish. Necromancy spells cause disease to flourish, and certain undead carry disease. Ergo, diseases are powered by negative energy just like dhampirs.

Yeah, not wanting to argue pointlessly over non-issues is totally wrong. I rephrased my statement to elaborate that the bard is good at their shtick, and you still want to argue about it... and are throwing a tantrum because I won't be baited into the argument.

>ducking responsibility
Maybe someday, you'll learn that there's no point in having arguments over chocolate versus vanilla. I don't do belligerent / hostile non-discussions buildposter, deal with it.

Nice ad hominem there pal.

>I don't do belligerent / hostile non-discussions
But you're still sticking around to try and sling mud at me. Nice, congrats.

>deal with it
Already done, just amazed how quickly you turned hypocritical. Is that a bard class feature?
