How can I make a character who uses teleportation in combat without

Can other people use teleportation in combat? If so it's easy, he's just a normal warrior fighting in a normal way. If not, i'm sorry, its too late for you.

I think if you want to make a non-edgy character, we first need to have a set of guidelines as to what makes an edgy character. Both are pretty solid characters. On paper they're edgy as fuck, but in practice much less so.

Use blunt instruments, always go for quick clean deaths/disables if possible (whatever fits your PC's nature better). In and out, strategic removal or disabling of threats.

Limit communication in battles to strictly with your allies. No talky talky or taunting the enemies unless it serves a purpose (you're luring them towards/away from something)

Shunpo and it's Quincy and Espada counterparts are essentially "The art of getting from Point A to Point B in the least number of steps possible." where they are moving at high enough speeds that to those that aren't able to move at a comparable speed see it as teleportation because their kinetic vision isn't able to keep up.

I've had an idea for a character that uses rune based teleportation floating around in my head for a while. Basically he has a collection of coins or chips inscribed with some magic symbol and has a corresponding symbol tattooed somewhere on his body that lets him teleport to the location of any of these chips so long as he can see them. He can also use a different rune to make the process work backwards and can teleport the object to him instead. The idea was he has a huge collection of weapons and stuff somewhere that he can summon at will and just teleports around the battlefield summoning random shit to throw at you.

It's really good, despite being generally a bright and colorful series it can get DARK, especially toward the end. The main cast's pretty well-rounded, and the main antagonists (especially Nox, the villain of the first season) are really good. It's kind of like Avatar in that fights rarely come down to people maiming and/or killing each other, fights usually end with the bad guy of the week being defeated and seeing the error of their ways.

Only real complaints I have with the series are that the English VAs aren't very good and they take 2 or 3 episodes out of both seasons to play not-soccer.

Teleportation isn't "completely edgelord" by itself. Take a look at why *teleports behind you* became such a joke:

1. It's used by "edgy" characters. Characters that don't fit the story tonally or come across as immature to the reader while expected to be taken seriously within the fiction.
2. Teleporting behind a character to suddenly turn the tables is abused to such a degree that the novelty not only wears off, but crosses into "annoyance" territory.

It's a combo that fails because of execution, not concept. Anything can be tryhard and wannabe cool. If you don't usually fall into that trap, chances are you're not going to fall into it here either, so don't worry about it.

I thought the way it was done in the witcher 3 hearts of stone with Olgierd was fairly interesting. Tied to his sword and requires a certain amount of aggressive momentum from attacking to unleash in a teleport forward into a huge strike sort of deal. Prevents it from being used indiscriminately while playing up the mobility and overwhelming nature of fighting someone capable of moving nearly instantaneously.

By using teleportation in ways that will subdue but not kill your enemies. An injury here and there is fine, but killing should be the absolute last resort. If we're talking about a teleporter with jumper-tier abilities then combat can be solved as simply as dropping a guy off on top off in some random spot like Cambodia. It won't necessarily kill him, but he'll have a hell of a time getting back. Alternatively you could try and replace an enemy's weapons with whatever amuses you at the time. Pistols suddenly get swapped for rubberducks, shotguns suddenly get swapped for comically large dildos. Get creative.

As long as your teleportation has limits rather than just freeform teleportation wherever and whenever you want. Like maybe you set up magic circles on the ground ahead of time and can teleport from one to another, or like someone mentioned Tracer, you can only teleport a short distance in whatever direction you're moving in, with limited yet recharging uses.
Basically anything that makes *teleports behind you, stabbing you in the back* difficult to accomplish if at all rather than an at-will action with no drawbacks.

You could always disarm opponents and play a game of keep-away with their weapons of choice.

I can understand why no one does it though... It uses up a potential magic item slot, and the mantra of optimizers is not to invest class levels in things that items can get you.

Incarnum is just really cool and reliable and one of the best resources for making an interesting character.

Besides, you only need two levels of Totemist to get at will dimension door. I was looking at it the other day wondering how best to make a character like pic related.

Hell not even that, Guts has all the traits of an extreme edgelord character, but the story makes it work, because it feels genuine and believable rather than just being trite and dark for the sake of it.
