So hand flamer on my sergeant (the one with the power sword) and storm bolter on my Captain (lightning claw)? I'm (obviously) very new to the hobby but when I was trying to ask what would be an ideal loadout for my units it kind of irritated people. It was suggested I play more first before bothering with asking a lot of questions but since I'm not magnetizing units yet and generally have no idea what the fuck I'm doing I just went with what seemed cool.
>>
>>47826192
Nigga are you outfitting your DC for ranged fighting

Also if you want more models the half of Deathstorm Box should still be preatty cheap on Ebay and a decent way to get a Termie-Captain, More terminators and DC and a DC dread
>>
>>47826252
I kept getting suggestions that said throw bolters on my DC squad, after I glued the first one together it suddenly turned in to "chainswords and bolt pistols you fool". I'm probably just going to buy another squad after I get some more money to spend. How much is this mystical box and what's the other army included?
>>
>>47826201
Hmmm.... That's a tough one.

I think I'll have to go with Khârn, as I'm not familiar enough with most characters of 40k, as I'm more into 30k myself. That, and Typhon/Typhus is just a dick.

Honestly keep your Sergeants cheep and cheerful with either Combi-X or Bolt Pistol/Power Weapon Sergeants you should kit out to be a CC beast so give him Lightning Claw Powerfist for a tried and true strategy

>>47826284
Death Company should ALWAYS be assault based the only reason I can think of to give them Bolters is Relentless, they jump in and fuck up a unit with power weapons and die horribly by a Russ

Deathstorm was a Nids V BA box set that came with a bunch of models a rule book Which you need you should be able to find it on ebay

This may take a few posts.
>‘WE ARE CURIOUS,’ came a mighty, anguished thought which itself transcended time.
>‘WE HAVE FOLLOWED YOUR INTRUSION INTO OUR SANCTUARY, OUR ANTRUM AND ADYTUM.’
‘My lord.’ Jaq sank to his knees. ‘I beg to report to you before I am destroyed. I may have uncovered a major conspiracy—’
>‘THEN WE WILL STRIP YOUR SOUL BARE. RELAX, MORTAL MAN, OR YOU WILL SURELY DIE IN SUCH PAIN AS WE ALWAYS ENDURE.’
Jaq breathed deeply, slowly, stilling the panic that fluttered under his ribs like a trapped bird. He surrendered himself. A hurricane roared through his mind.
If the story that he had thought to relate were a tangled forest – and if each event in that story were a tree – then within moments all the leaves were stripped away from all of the trees, denuding them to bare wintry twigs, to a raw basic life without the foliage of memories.
He was drained of his story; that was sucked from him in a trice, all of those leaves whirling into the mind-maw of the Master. Jaq gagged. Jaq drooled.
He was an imbecile, less than an imbecile.
He was less than a new-born baby.
He neither knew where he was, nor who he was – nor what it even meant to be a someone.
The inquisitor sprawled. All that was known to his body was distress, the gurglings of the guts, breath and light. Light from afar.

ABRUPTLY, ALL MEMORY flooded back. On that instant, each leaf sprouted anew to recloak the forest of his life.
>‘WE HAVE PUT BACK WHAT WE TOOK AND TASTED, INQUISITOR’
Trembling, Jaq regained his kneeling posture and wiped his lips and chin. The previous moments were a hideous limbo, unknowable, immeasurable. He was Jaq Draco again.
>‘WE ARE MANY, INQUISITOR.’ The voice boomed in his mind almost gently – if gently was how an avalanche would sweep away a doomed village, if gently was how a scalpel might strip a life to the bare aching bones.

>‘AS WELL AS WINNOW THE WARP—’
>‘HOW ELSE?’
The Emperor’s mind-voice, if that truly was what it was, had dissociated into several voices, as if his great undying soul co-existed in fragments that barely hung together.
>‘SO DOES THE HYDRA THREATEN US?’
>‘IMPERILLING OUR GREAT AND AWFUL PLAN TO STEER HUMANITY?’
>‘DID WE OURSELVES DEVISE THE HYDRA?’
>‘PERHAPS IN A PART OF US, SINCE THIS HYDRA PROMISES A PATH?’
>‘SURELY A MALEVOLENT PATH; FOR HOW COULD HUMANITY EVER FREE ITSELF?’
>‘THEN WE MUST BE MALEVOLENT TOO. FOR WE HAVE EXPELLED OUR SENTIMENTALITY LONG AGO. HOW ELSE COULD WE HAVE ENDURED? HOW ELSE COULD WE HAVE IMPOSED OUR RULE?’
>‘YET BY VIRTUE OF THAT WE ARE PURE AND UNCONTAMINATED BY WEAKNESS. WE ARE GRIM SALVATION.
>>
>>47826372
na, give everyone bolters but then give a few fists then put the fists at the back so they die last.

Daemons only care about the quantity of your attacks so DC should rip them easily, just what out for any larger daemons as they're most likely packing ap2, instant death.

Don't even bother Converting them, just run them as DA allies, it looks better and you already have enough in the box to do it.

> kind of wanted my Sergeant to be nifty looking and have some powerful stuff so I guess I'll swap out the storm bolter for a pistol before I paint him
If you want your guns to look more powerful try a greenstuff cape or a fancier base

>For my Captain are you suggesting powerfist and lightning claw? Cuz I don't think I have access to a right arm fist with what I have.

There are websites that resell individual bits you should be able to get a powerfist from there the one I use is Bitzbox but if you search around you could probably get one for cheaper

Also for the love of god just get another DV rulebook of Ebay for a couple of quid
>>
>>47826407
I was the one who suggested bolters. i see them as better than the bolt pistols as you can lay down enough rapid fire shots to pretty much make the 4 s4 hits per model worth it on the charge.
>>47826372
i personally reccomend for every 5 DC give at least one of them Power fist. Also give the guy with a powerfist a bolter instead of a pistol as the PF is a specialist weapon and can not get additional attacks from 2 melee weapons.i also personally like to give atleast another guy a PS and a bolt pistol just for some good AP2 at initiative 5 (if your using Baal Strike force that is)

Tempestus Scions...

Do I really want to start this army? It would be as an allied force.

I currently play GK, BA, and SW.

Stormtroopers look awesome but this Tempestus book is only really half a book.

One troop choice, no elites, no fast attack, no relics, no heavy support.

How is this force supposed to be used?!
>>
>>47826657
Oh my god...
>>
>>47826668
They just look cool, theyre too absurdly expensive to be a good choice no matter what the circumstances.
I will say their new formation is probably the best way to run them though. Run 4 squads, when they die just deep strike them back in. Super gimmicky and near worthless, but thats how bad Scions are.
>>
>>47826668
They're drop pod commandos that don't have to pay for or paint a drop pod. Take two special weapons (four in a command squad) and hope they don't scatter too poorly. Choose your weapons to complement the rest of the army (though you'll probably be taking plasma or melta most of the time)

>no fast attack
technically speaking you can buy taroxes and valkyries as fast attack chocies

I supose it's just different tactics, I run mine with a Fist and 2 Swords It normally lets them munch through a Rhino then charge the Tac's inside
>>
>>47826284
No, you got your info from 1d4chan, which is the only place that mentions it.

DC are designed for melee. The entire BA codex is not that great for range. Even +1S on charge isn't great. It's neat for mulching GEQ's, that's about it. Since you'll never get S10.

How do you fancy kicking your enemies’ teef right in, boss? How about a turn-two charge featuring over thirty Ork Boys getting right up in your opponent’s dismayed face before they have time to react? Sounds pretty good to us. With this bundle, unless your dice are afflicted by a terrible curse, you’ll be able to close in on pretty much anything on a gameboard. It’s fast, it’s dirty and it’s gleeful – pure Ork goodness.

This bundle contains 3 Deff Roller Battlewagons and 3 sets of Ork Boyz, designed to tear across the table as fast as possible and smash faces. You’ll have a lot of fun with it...

I need to put magnets on the bases of my minis for storage, because I'm being informed it's the best way to transport them.
Does anyone have a recomendation of size? I'm an ork player so lots of vehicles and infantry. I've got the citadel bases and some resin ones that don't have that dip, and I want to put the magnets on the minis because ammo cans are rad as hell.

In his life he found himself sorrounded by dogmas, sacred traditions, by work considered perfect and insuperable, and he say: "Fuck it, I'm going to work on it and make it better".

Having used it a few times (in for fun games only, always with my opponents permission first, because I'm not a dick), it's really not that great. Sure the weapon is awesome, but the unit it's in is almost always the first one to go. It gets a fuck ton of firepower in it's direction.
It's a very good distraction carnifex though.

Because knights are fucking awesome?
In fact I just got through playing a 500 point game for the current narrative campaign my group is doing, my obsidian knight (though I just fielded him as a regular knight paladin) veruses my opponents heretical skitarii.
It was a fuck ton of fun, even if I did get tabled. Though he did only have one model left at the end, and I technically won it in terms of the campaign, since I killed more points than he did. But seriously, as long as your opponent is aware and ok that your fielding knights, then they are amazingly fun to play.

Christianity is underpinned by the concept of Original Sin - that because Adam fell, all humans are tainted by sin and therefore cannot enter the presence of God. To be cleansed from sin, an atoning Savior is needed to pay the price of judgment in the sinner's place.

Christ's gospel does teach people to be good, and that men are capable of good, but it also presupposes that all men are inherently tainted by sin and require saving, which is only granted through subservience to Christ.

Know that I'm not anti-Christian, I'm just trying to be fair regarding their doctrine.

Come on anon, how is anything about DoW3 looking good? It's cover system has been destroyed because it's "too complicated" for new players. The dev's have said DoW3 will be an 'introduction to 40k lore' for new players. Which, to the best of my knowledge, isn't what fans of DoW1+2 want. They said they want it to be the 'most accessible DoW3 yet', which would be fine, but it's ended up going 'fuck the lore' despite trying to introduce people TO the lore. They said they want to make it more 'colourful' and 'less gritty', despite releasing a trailer of the opposite. They don't want it to be 'grimdark'. Finally, they can't even get the Space Marine portions right.

I'm 100% of the belief that none of the old Relic crew are working on it.

I think its too early to pass judgement on it, Satan. The most that they have shown is prerecorded "game play" on what appears to be a demo level. If they really do mean that the game is in a "pre-alpha" state then it isn't fair to be optimistic or pessimistic because the game could change quite wildly as it moves to completion. It is also incredibly fucking stupid for them, or anyone, to even consider showing a game in this state, as it leads to massive overreactions and cementing of opinions long before the game is feature-complete.

Relax, give it time, it might look better when it gets closer to release in 2017.

But the Space Marine proportions in the trailer is pretty fucking inexcusable. I can't fathom why anyone thought that looked good.

An Ordo Malleus Inquisitor and his warband of stormtroopers, acolytes and a small group of Exorcist Space Marines are being guided by fragments of Malal (generally appearing as a strange, blue-gray "daemonette") to kill a fuckload of daemons and attempt to seriously weaken the forces of Chaos from within the Eye itself. The daemonette also seems to manifest minor fragments of the other Chaos Gods, and indeed anyone she meets (and especially those she kills personally) make some impression on her behavior.

The daemonette is also trying to stop the other fragments of Malal from returning so she can keep her free will and not destroy the existence and universe she has come to care for.

The end is going to be on the last day of 999.M41, when the Inquisitor realizes what the daemonette has been alluding to in her esoteric, prophetic, philosophical language: a daemon can only be truly defeated--a portion of Chaos completely organized--by revealing the truth of its opposite. Show a Khorne Prince the power of forgiveness; heal not only the body of a Great Unclean One but also its mind; teach a sorceror the joy of simplicity; reveal to She Who Thirsts the purpose of reservation and the guidance gained by failure and imperfection.

He realizes this, and then the plot stops moving.

The story of my IG regiment comes from the fall of Haakonath. My regiment was detached off from a crusade to help the PDF fight of the ork invasion. After many months, the men of the guard and that of the local populace and PDF had bonded, almost if they all hailed from the same planet. With the help of the Star Phantoms, the orks were being held off at bay until a massive Hrud migration occured planet side.

Unknown to those bellow, a small band of Inquisitors had planted heretical dooms day device that had warp tearing properties. They had known that the Hrud migration was going to happen and instead of planing ahead or sending help, they decided to test out their new toy on the planet.

As the final three thousand men were left on the planet was left on the planet, the device went off and the planet was basically playing one foot pong between reality and the warp.

With all the sorrow that had happened and the countless loses that the men had suffered, they all had one unified thought as they were to meet their death. Revenge.

With that, the echoing from the device and the thoughts of the men dying there had almost carved a notch for itself into the warp. Almost a groove that had suddenly appeared but had always been there.

The planet was gone and the inquisitors were unable to pinpoint the location of the device due to a plasma storm rolling in from the sudden gravitational flux. Deeming it a lost cause, the inquisitorial band hid their ships among the remaining Star Phantom legion battlebarge and their ships as they began to warp out of the area.

A small orb with an Aquilla with a large X going through the middle now floats freely in space. The orb seems to almost float in a controlled manner.

>cont.

50 Terran years later, the people of of a backwater planet prepared to give their reports on how they were suddenly able to defend against a tyranid splinter fleet with a pdf force with third hand stub guns. The inquisition almost had the planet sanctioned for cleansing by the flame until footage from the planetary governor/priest showed what happened.

In the midst of a nid invasion, a silver streak rained from the heavens and stroke the ground like a thousand earthshaker cannons going at once. The video begins to scatter before recollecting itself. What looks to be a thin slit in the sky from where the asteroid hit the planet and where it entered.

Wind begins to cyclone around the area where the thing landed before the slit begins to glow an unearthly bright white. The PDF could do nothing, standing still trying to comprehend what was happening. The Slit had opened wide as a almost ghastly like baneblade had flew nearly 80mph into one of the Heierophants closing in onto the slit. Not far after, 3000 specters pour out and begin to charge. Around them are various Imperial guard vehicles behaving as if they were beasts acting on instinct. A group of Leman russ tanks begin to rev their spectral engines, the void itself seeming to come out of the exhaust, before soon following with a massive charge through the wave of nids. A pack of Sentinels without pilots roam around the city blocks. Groups of citizens telling tales of how they would be corned by genestealers only for the pack to come around. Sometimes using flamers or else using their metal feet to continuously stomp onto the genestealers, reducing their bodies to goo and powder.

It would seem that the 3000 spectrals would not do well against the nid army, seeing as they would fall to the weakest of swings, but as each group of three hundred would fall, the slit would begin to pulse out again. Soon would another three hundred specters would by flying into battle.

Couple questions on Vanquishers:

Is it ever worth taking a Leman Russ Vanquisher with a Lascannon over Melta Vets in a Chimera? Same point cost (145) if the vets only take 2 Meltaguns.

Would a Vanquisher with a Lascannon and Plasma Cannon sponsons be a viable and cheaper option to the Executioner when dealing with both vehicles and heavy infantry? Vanquisher would be 175 points, Executioner 185 (195 with Lascannon).

I'd take Lascannon sponsons if I could.
>>
>>47832685
The camera begins to fall after a nasty shake had thrown it to the ground, continuing to only show a local priest singing litanies to the Emperor for he has delivered angels upon them.

The Inquisition would continue to question each of the members of the planet, searching for signs of warp taint or corruption in the streets, and even having navigators look through the warp around the area. The physical markins of where that baneblade had landed are firmly planted in the pavement outside, as are the craters and various laser markings from lasguns that weren't even present on the planet till the inquisition got there.

The locals have began to tell tales to those that they know off world about these strange specters. Rogue traders begin to spread these tales as well. The fringes of the imperil sector know of the legend of the specters and the name that was given to them by the people of the planet.

For a single hole was found through one of the moons that surrounded the planet. A perfect diameter all the way through between the void and the planet bellow. So, the people of the planet soon came to call their knights in shining, spectral armor the the knights of their moon.

The Armageddon 87th (Armageddon Eighty-Seven) "Iron Horses" were recruited for the defense of Hive Acheron just prior to the Third War for Armageddon. They are a mixed regiment, highly mechanized as all Steel Legion forces, but with several conscripted hive ganger militias in their ranks, as well.

As the war fell upon, them, the 87th was witness to Hermann von Strab's treacherous infiltration of Acheron and surrender of the hive to the Orks. Penned in on one side by advancing Ork armor and on the other by their own captured city, the 87th was forced to abandon their defenses and storm their own home city. Acheron was liberated, but only after intense and bloody civil war in its urban spires. the 87th's attrition rate was over 70%, but native Acheron loyalists stepped in to replace the fallen until the hive was liberated, though now nearly a ruin.

>>
>>47832713

The existence of hullpoints has really stolen the vanquisher's thunder. Yes it can reliably pen armor 14, but you need to do that 3 times to drop the heavy targets you bought the thing for. Given your BS, that means it takes nearly the entire game for the thing to do its job. 1 HP per turn just isn't worth it, imo.

Sponsons help, but you are placing a lot of eggs in a basket that is very easily wrecked by infantry these days and is not very mobile. Melta vets are better:

>greater mobility
>greater reliability (2-3 melta shots, with orders if you dismount)
>compartmentalized points. Opponent blows the chimera, your guys get out and shoot back.
>obsec
>frees up hvy support slot, letting you take more wyverns

>Should be "dime a dozen" FYI.

>Is it ever worth taking a Leman Russ Vanquisher with a Lascannon over Melta Vets in a Chimera? Same point cost (145) if the vets only take 2 Meltaguns.

Yes, definitly. First you have a serious range advantage over the vets. Second it is much more durable then a chimera.

>Would a Vanquisher with a Lascannon and Plasma Cannon sponsons be a viable and cheaper option to the Executioner when dealing with both vehicles and heavy infantry? Vanquisher would be 175 points, Executioner 185 (195 with Lascannon).

Honestly I am not a fan of plasma sponsons. I prefer 2 Multimelta, although they have shorter range and are less likely to hit, especially bigger targets. Often I find it hard to align the vehicle so that both sponsons can hit. Also the lower strength makes it worse (Instand death on T4 multiwound like crisis is neat) and with the growing presence of stuff that comes to you fast, like Imperial Knights you threaten them. With Plasma cannons, its a bit of does not know what it wants, as they are near useless against heavier armor, which is what the Vanq should be shooting at.
>>
>>47832866

>>

>excellent chance of gibbing vehicles with an explodes result?

No, only ap2. That means a a 1/6 chance per turn.
>>
>>47832957
You might be thinking of a different faction. Guard doesn't get much in the way of AP1. The Tau Hammerhead might be what you thinking.
>>
>>47832713

>sponsons
you are generalizing a unit instead of specializing, which is always a bad idea. Why do you take a vanq? To take out armor 13 and 14, I assume. Plasma is not reliable for this purpose. So, you wither shoot AV 14 with your cannon nad waste plasma sponsons, or you shoot sponsons at infantry and effectively waste your cannon. Pick one: melta sponsons for a dedicated anti armor tank, or drop the tank and get an anti infantry platform.

specialize > generalize

>>47832933
>more durable, range advantage
how important the range is is a debatable topic, but the durability doesn't matter at all. A brick in the center of the table is durable, too, but doesn't do jack shit. The vanq has to both survive and pull its weight, and it just doesnt do the latter very well in this edition.
>>
>>47832971

1/6 chance per HIT

factor in BS and it's worse than that
>>
>>47830116
While the formation might be bad, the units are what you want, if you play DE. Despite the FAQ venom or raider is a must for almost everything. Reaver Jetbikes are one of the better units and kabalite warriors are far far better than wyches.

I honestly wonder how they deploy as a raider cannot hold 10 kabalites and the archon.

Allow me to play doubles advocate here for a moment. For all intensive purposes I think you are wrong. In an age where false morals are a diamond dozen, true virtues are a blessing in the skies. We often put our false morality on a petal stool like a bunch of pre-Madonnas, but you all seem to be taking something very valuable for granite. So I ask of you to mustard up all the strength you can because it is a doggy dog world out there. Although there is some merit to what you are saying it seems like you have a huge ship on your shoulder. In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this I am here to bring you back into reality. I have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because I cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. I have zero taller ants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go.

Make my words, when you get down to brass stacks it doesn't take rocket appliances to get two birds stoned at once. It's clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but I swear on my mother's mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake, the nice thing on the cake will be your growth as a person, but make sure you don't put all your egg in one basket.

tl;dr. it's a meme.

>>47832990
>how important the range is is a debatable topic
Well I often find stuff thats either very mobile thus avoiding vets (but also the vanquisher using terrain....) or sitting in the back. And the range is far far greater than a chimera with vets. Plus you can threaten units turn 1. But you are right, the vanq does not put out the hurt usually. With BS3 and lascannon + MM which might be in range or LOS you are looking at 1-2 wounds on riptides, wraithknights etc. Per turn.
>>
>>47833081
well, you also have good chance to kill a weapon or immobilize or whatever else the damage chart gives you.
>>
>>47833084

Most things my guard fight are running towards me, not away. All I can think that play the kiting game are Tau and perhaps Eldar, everyone else is in my face trying to punch everything of mine, including the AV 14 which is usually on some transport brick bulldozing its way right to me. Maybe that's just my local meta, but it's the reason I never worry about needing much range.

The other thing to consider is that with a list full of chimera vets, the other guy's anti-tank units are very inefficient investments. They pop chimeras all game and don't make their points back, since chimeras are so cheap. The best way to counter a long range, high strength gun might be to just let it waste time shooting stuff it shouldn't be, providing it no valuable targets.
>>
>>47833081
I never said it was GOOD. I just said that's how you down shit. I then linked what most people use Vanquishers for.

Beast Killer Shells are the main reason you take a Vanquisher (albeit a Command/Commissar Tank) for the Instant Death Blast weapon.

6.01851852% for 13 AV.
>>
>>47833009

Beast Hunter Shells
>Range: 72"
>Strength: 8
>AP: 2
>Special Rules: Heavy 1, Blast (3"), Instant Death

That's why people take it. It allows you to Instant Death pesky T5 stuff and MC's.
>>
>>47833149

I didn't bother to do the math because I already knew it was trash, but yes you have quantified just how much so. I like the IDEA of a vanquisher as much as the next guy, but most people that harp on about them seem to make emotional arguments for them and refuse to face the math. One guy told me that I was wrong to judge it by how effective it was at killing things, since other things can help it kill things. Really? By that logic we might as well judge things by what color they are.

They just aren't good, the end.
>>
>>47833170
>>47833178

Ok, I wasn't aware of the existence of these shells. THAT is a good investment, I'll give the tank that. I stand by my shit vs armor stance, though.
>>
>>47833147
Yup. Plus as >>47833170 said, if your HQ has these he can deal with stuff you have more problems with, which is MC's.

I probably would take multiple Rapier Batteries to deal with AV14 as IG.
>>
>>47833188

twin linking improves your chances to hit marginally from 50% to 75%, it doesn't help you wreck tanks. Even if you hit 100%, the rate at which you strip hullpoints is just too slow for an AT weapon at that cost.
>>
>>47833170
Yes, these shells are good. Its also one of the main reasons I run Armoured company rather then Astra Millitarium. AC gives so many good bonuses to tanks it almost makes them playable in this edtion.
>>
>>47833149
That is so pathetically low that stripping a hull-point from yourself via plasma-cannon sponson is 4 times more likely to happen. At that point taking just taking a bunch of MSU scions with melta might be better AT considering they can hit more often and probably get within melta range by turn 2 with a good deepstrike. But then you'd be taking scions so there is that.
>>
>>47833183
Don't worry, those shells aren't available for regular Guard. You have to run the Imperial Armour 1 FoC. Where the problem is your Elites are infantry and your Troops are tanks.

And the Beast Killers can only go on HQ's. So you can only get one in a normal army. Unless I misremembered it.

The starter formation for Scions is gonna be exceptionally fun for that.
>>
>>47833214

meltavets in chimeras. meltavets in valkyries. special weapons squads in both. outfitted CCS and PCS units. AM has a lot of mobile melta options that aren't scions and are pretty cheap.
>>
>>47833235
True, but none look nearly as boss as the stormtroopers while doing it. If I'm gonna send them to die, why not do it with some style and pizazz?
>>
>>47833227
Actually, someone at my store mentioned an argument about these guys.

Something about dedicated transports being part of the unit and getting more transports.
>>
>>47833205
Aren't they only for Command Tanks and Commissar Tanks? That's the problem I think.

What's the list you use?

I'm still upset about Destroyer Tank Hunters.

60", S9, AP2, Twin-Linked, Ordnance 1. Expensive for 160 points.
>>
>>47833255
I usually run a company command tank, 3-7 Russ tanks, 3 medusa emplacements, 0-1 hydras, a storm trooper squad, 1 avenger strike fighter, 1 dominus siege bombard, 1 shadowsword/stormsword, one Destroyer tank hunter (it was actually the first model I got for 40k. Thought it was a lemanruss tank at first and ended up purchasing it for 30 dollars), and 1 warhound titan. I have a reaver titan in the process but its such a pain I always seem to put it off.

My list varies and I usually end up just putting something together last minute.

It works RAW, but for stupid reason. Here's how I understand it:

The formation itself has no restrictions, meaning the respawning Scion unit has no restrictions on what upgrades the unit can buy and bring.
They also respawn with the same upgrades they originally purchased.
This is important considering you can opt to buy a Dedicated Transport "upgrade" for the unit.

So you'd purchase a Taurox Prime as an Dedicated Transport "upgrade" for the Scion unit (so you'd have a total a two Taurox Primes in the formation: one as a Dedicated Transport "upgrade" for the Scion unit and the other bought as part of the base formation), and then when the Scion unit dies you'd put an identical squad in Deep Strike Reserve ALONG WITH a copy of their original Dedicated Transport as it can be considered an "upgrade" to the unit (with them embarked or not, doesn't matter), even if their original Dedicated Transport is still on the table.

The dedicated transport wouldn't get the Deep Strike USR from the Scions, but it would still be allowed to placed in Deep Strike Reserve since the rules of the formation demand it, and as such would Deep Strike normally.

RAW, It works in a similar way to how the Khorne Daemonkin Axe of Kor'lath relic did (until the FAQ), wherein when the model that bore the relic was removed from play it would spawn a Daemon Prince near where it was removed, even if the model was removed due to itself becoming a Daemon Prince.

Best part was how the Daemon Prince that was spawned from the model with the Axe would also spawn another Daemon Prince when it died too since it had all the same relics as the model it came from!

Definitely not RAI by any means, and relies heavily on your definition of "upgrade", but a "fun" twist on GW's shitty rule-writing skills.

If you try to do this you deserved to be punched in the face.
>>
Same guy as >>47833442
There's a few counter arguments you could make to this logic however, namely how the Skitarii Start Collecting! Formation's Dunecrawler is not allowed to buy Squad mates since the formation specifies "1 Dunecrawler".
This logic could and should be argued to be applicable in the same way to the new Scion Formation, since that one also specifies "1 Taurox Prime".

Not sure if there's any real way to weasel out of that.
>>
>>47833442
Dedicated transports I would argue are not in fact upgrades to units but a wholly separate unit purchased with said original unit that you then also spend points to buy upgrades for said transport, seeing how both are counted as such for gameplay purposes regardless of upgrades to the squad itself and intentionally trying to read the rule that way is just someone trying to get free 80pt transports out of it.
>>
So forgeworld just put up Crusade Imperialis: Army Lists for preorder... Are the rules from 30k and 40k that different that this is necessary?

I am, however, heavily considering starting up a solar auxilia army. Those guys looks dope as fuck, and seems to be what a proper Imperial Elite Guard should look like. Think they'll be good in 40k?

>>47833499
I agree with you 100%, but someone could make the argument that a unit can purchase a Dedicated Transport unit as an "upgrade" to the original unit in the same way that an IG Infantry Platoon can purchase additional Infantry Squads or Special/Heavy Weapons Squads as upgrades to the original Platoon.

Different unit, different upgrades, and worth separate kill points, but still an upgrade to the original unit. It's a funky system.

It's the same shit with sugar making kids hyperactive

>Parents give sugar to kids

>parents think they're hyperactive due to sugar
>don't give sugar
>kids act the same

Except with shitposting and summer. You just think there is a difference due to confirmation bias, but there really isn't. The only difference I see is due to the fact I believe some tranny got v& on /tg/ and that got shit going.

But thanks for the blogpost, I guess.

Fucking awful, literally went out for a run because it was less tedious and repetitive.

Hell now "Sniper HQ" is on my permanent filter along "mastercrafted memetana" pasta.

I'll give you that 40k's balance is all over the place and completely fuckd, but it's unfair to compare the units in the game to units from a different game.
Even if some rules carry over, it's still a different game.

Eh. The forced memes have been around since whenever goobygate was on /v/ and they fled to other boards. Plus we got raided by several other chans, which resulted in /wst/ being kicked off. Then we got gimmickfags like Carnac and the slav guy.

Others are trying to be 'famous' by forcing shitty memes.

The sniper HQ thing, I missed, but I remember talking to a guy about how a neat sniper suit would be for Tau, was that related? It was months ago though.

As for the other thing, was that the fire codex pasta? I saw that months ago attempted to be forced.

It's shit, but, that's the board /tg/ is now.

Rate the units in your codex from most fluffy to least fluffy.

I can't help but dream about a fluffy Tau codex every time I play them, so many of our units are absolutely retarded compared to what they're supposed to do in the fluff.

Ah, Kroot, a wonderful species of sniper assassins! And may the Imperium fear the short-ranged gunlines of Firewarriors rolling buckets of dice at enemies within 15" at the command of their Ethereal and Fireblade. How I love acting out the stories of the Tau Empire's growing variety of Giant Battlesuit Auxiliaries - I hope GW releases a model for that psychic auxiliary, the XV-72 Nikasar!

Incidentally I actually have a strange reaction to one or two particular ingredients oft found in a variety of lollies, it's kinda like caffeine.
As a child if I had to much I actually would go noticeably more hyper before a massive crash followed by a mild asthma attack.
These days I'm practically immune unless I eat disgusting amounts.
