Cheap dice are either solid, glittery, or marbled. These are marbled.

Of course, for the price you'd think they could do something different and paint the corners in the legions' secondary colors or something. You're paying a ton of money for a fancy 6 and nothing more.

today the army painter daemonic yellow primer betrayed me like the wordbearers while spraying my first calth marines and fucking jizzed a glob all over their faces. I decided that I'm gonna go with the alternate Imperial Fists scheme that Sigismund would have wanted. any tips for how to strip paint off of models? I've never fucked up this bad before...I honestly thought that this primer would work on infantry just as well as it worked on vehicles. ugh.
>>
>>47759105
Super Clean strips plastic alright. Did it happen with the first drops? I've had that happen, so now I always start spraying to the side of the minis and then sweep over them. Always start and end past the minis.
>>
>>47759273
eh I dunno, I really don't have too much experience priming with anything other than GW's chaos black, which is pretty idiot proof. So I think I'm just gonna go back to that and do that primarily black color scheme...
>>
>>47759105
Dunk in isopropyl alcohol, scrub, drown for an hour, scrub again, if it's still alive drown it in there one more time.
>>
I've bought the Velljo Acrylic white brush primer, and it's really liquid.

I wanted to try and use it for a potential WE force, but fuck me, I don't want to have to need 3 coats on every model for the bloody primer.

Any ideas on how to make it a wee bit less watery?
Or shoulf I just deal with it, at least I won't obscure details?
>>
>>47759446
Is it properly stirred? Throw a BB into it and then stir, or use a long toothpick. You can't just shake if it's sat on a shelf (e.g. store shelf) for a long time. It's not that great, though.

>Your favorite emos before they actually had a reason to feel like shit. They are a very balanced force that instead of being fast & hiding in cover like their 40k incarnation, either they have Furious charge or appear from where you didn't expect them to. So basically fast and hiding in cover.
>Their bias for lightning-fast attacks and aerial deployment allows them to set up powerful Decapitation strikes, tying up enemy units only to suddenly appear behind the enemy lines and kill that pesky HQ. Which in fact is the exact purpose of their Dark Fury squads. This strategy relies on them going first, but thankfully their RoW helps them with this.
>They are maybe the best IC killers, but if you're looking for mechanized or attrition warfare or troop slot shenanigans, look someplace else. Such as Shattered Legions or Sworn Brothers.

Big fat reminder that Raven Guard actually get *less* use from aircraft than any other Legion and trying to combine Infiltrate with Reserves is a really really shit way to get the first wave killed.

> LA: Infiltrate is such a fundamental shift in your armies capabilities that it's probably the most divergent Legion at the present time. If you aren't building your lists to make use of it, you are playing the army wrong.
> Your dudes don't hit any harder or have any notable strengths beyond hitting first, and mobbing up a Turn 1 gank. Always Infiltrate your army together and anything that gives you First Turn is absolutely gold. To that end, you should be playing Recon Company or Decapitation 9 times out of 10.
> Cameleoline on everyone who can take it, it's just absurdly fucking good.
> When Decapitating, only 1HS makes your lists harder to construct. As Infantry, Rapiers can Infiltrate and so 2-3 teams is extremely common for RG players. This then ties into Elite slots being maxed out every game, and rarely will you have the slots for Apothecaries.

> Mor Deythan are a one-trick pony with a really, really big trick. Get them a Rhino and Combi-Flamers, they'll erase their own points cost Turn 1 without breaking a sweat.
> Dark Furies are built to sweep. AP3 Jump Troops in a world of Marines go a long way.
> Duckwing is a bit shit and arguably worse than the already-weak Stormeagle.
> Nothing in his rules prevents Kaedes Nex from charging in Turn 1.
> Alvarex Maun is possibly the best HQ available to any Legion, ever.
> Corax is an invisible lawnmower and Marines are grass.

Everything in your army is built to fuck infantry up. Deythan, Furies and infiltrating troops are going to be fine for handling dudes and so you need to make a conscious effort to pack anti-tank in, even with a reduced HS allotment.
It's rare that you can afford Apothecaries and so 20-man blobs don't really work, unless you get them a Ruin and Cameleoline.

>>
Anyone else played/playing the kill team campaign from book 3? A friend and I just started it, had one game so far.

I accidentally created a monstrosity for my hero and I kind of feel had about it. Salamanders forge lord, 2+/3++, master crafted power fist and servo arm, generates an action point every time an attack hits him, and 3 more if he gets taken out. He generated 14 that game, survived with a wound left, and smashed six guys in three rounds, including my friend's poor Emperor's Children phoenix spear jetbike hero, who is horribly outclassed despite his mobility. My forge lord has three wounds now, from the upgrade I dropped my shit ton of action points on. Next he gets a strength upgrade, for S10 pugilism.
>>
>>47760391
It makes me sad how many problems can be solved with quad-mortars. They are a bit ridiculous.

>>47760391
What FAQ is this?
>>
>>47760698
40k draft FAQ, went up on their facebook page for feedback (so hopefully stuff like this will change). It said that now only one person in a squad can use a grenade in close combat. Doesn't matter if you've spent 5 pts/model upgrade the whole squad to have meltabombs, only 1 dude can use it, everyone else just punches the tank. Also fucks krak grenades.

So, as things stand, buy them for sergeants and that's it.
>>
>>47760760
A full squad being able to use meltabombs seems a little too instakill to be fair. Real-life use of infantry-carried anti-tank explosives seems to have been closer to one per squad. Everyone else covers the bomber and stays out of his way, otherwise you’re likely to get half the squad blown up when 10 people try it all at the same time.
>>

Random fact of the day: during WWII, the best anti-tank grenade was the Japanese “lunge mine,” a HEAT warhead on a 5-foot pole. You’d ram it into the tank and it would penetrate up to six inches (15cm) of armor while blowing you up as well.

Definitely not a squad activity. Thank the Omnissiah for melta bombs that give you some time to run away!

Lads, the exam today went shit. It was mock-scenarios, and I was tasked with responding to a gunshot wound to the right femur. Stopped the haemorrhaging, assessed the leg for possible fracture, came up negative. Patient continued to complain of painful leg spasms, I assumed (apparently incorrectly) that it was due to the tourniquet cutting off circulation - not much I can do about that, have some more pain relief. No one's ever died from a twitchy leg anyway, time to transport to hospital.

Failed the assessment because I didn't use a traction splint to treat the fracture. I'm pretty mad, we haven't even covered gunshot wounds, we live in New Zealand for heaven's sake. Mfw.

I supplement my RG with an allied SA force (can be used in conjunction with Decapitation rite) that will include 2 demolisher Dracosans, a Valdor and 2 Vanquishers for anti tank and objective holding duty. The RG themselves have 3 Javelins and a surprise Typhon for opportune armour destruction.

Do mechanicum medusas have to pay extra or something for phosphex? Looking through the reductor battery entry it mentions phosphex but doesn't mention how to get it which I assume means you get regular and phosphex shells automatically, but I seem to remember the entry saying something about switching regular for phosphex or something. Am I missing something?

Not reading the rules but assuming everything you have said is 100% true than no, you apparently can't take primarchs. I guess the primarchs are too important to be surrounded by such worthless mooks or something. Either way go for it, it shouldn't change too much.

You know what you must do anon. Being an apothocary of the emperor's angels of death, you have three options.

A) You must harvest the man's geneseed before you administer the emperor's mercy

B) The patient being an astartes worthy of reknown, you must inter your fellow battle brother into a dreadnought so that he might serve the emperor even in death.

C) You may save the man, but you will be required to amputate the leg. No painkillers allowed because we're Terra-damned astartes and we don't need no painkillers.

Additionally, it seems you must report to the chaplain for extra armaments training if your skill in treating gunshot wounds is lacking.

With a sicaran venator to keep any enemy typhons from shooting. If you want to keep the foot-slogging theme, model the venator with its tracks blown off and a load of death guard on foot carrying it, it's the sort of utterly bloody-minded thing they'd do.

How's Legio Cybernetica these days? I know the model count is low and scoring is a pain outside of Thallax and gimps. Can they be competitive or will they just get roflstomped repeatedly..

I've been trying to figure out how to get Scoria into a 2K list and he's just way too expensive for that point level. Right now i have 4 castallax in the painting queue and 6 Thallax on the way, trying to round that out.

This is a 2500 Mechanicum list meant only for Horus Heresy games.

Anacharis Scoria -Xanathite Abeyant 315
Magos Dominus -Augury Scanner, Machinator Array 105

2x20 Adsecularis with Induction Chargers and Rite of Pure Thought 190

3 Castellax with Darkfire Cannons, Siege Wreckers and Enhanced Targetting Arrays 480

3 Castellax with Mauler Bolt Cannons 315

3 Thallax, 1 Multi Melta, Icarian 175

2 Thanatars -Enhanced Targetting Array 530

5 Myrmidons -5x Grav Imploder 390

Any Advice would be welcome, I have four scoring units so far and hopefully enough Anti Armou

>>
Scoria goes with the 480 point Castellax, the Magos Dominus with the cheaper Castellax making them scoring. Two Cybertheurgy users restoring wounds while they get in the opponents face while Thanatars and Myrmidons mulch heavy infantry
>>
Thallax for Anti Air due to the -2 to Cover Saves and Adsecularis Screen the Thanatars and cover Objectives while finishing off weaker squads

All of the recent titan fluff comes from FW’s books (including the 40k Imperial Armour books), and since they didn’t have a Warlord model they had to write about legions that either didn’t have any, or weren’t using them. Reavers were the mainstay of some of the legions they wrote about, and I’m pretty sure they mentioned a legion that consisted entirely of Warhounds.

Reavers are an older design; presumably there were more of them than Warlords in 30k, but they’re having trouble making more in M41 so they’re no longer the mainstay by then, and usually hang back in battles.

Generally speaking, the rounded titans we know and love are made on Mars, and the boxy ones on Lucius. There are presumably other patterns that no one’s drawn up yet.

>>47772758
There was a rumor that the largest titan they’d do is the Nemesis, which I think is a Warlord with extra weapons on the shoulders.

The Imperator with a castle on its back might go the way of the Squats – it’s a bit too over the top.

They’ll never be easy to popularize. The infantry figures are great (if you like the deep-sea diver look), but they and their transports have high dollar/point ratios. And they don’t have anything that’s truly iconic, imo. The Stormhammer just isn’t that special a model, and the other superheavies are stuff we’ve been seeing for years. Some of the Leman Russ variants look good, but still a little too familiar.

Cut them up into the tiniest stars you ever imagined, grab them with tweezers and dip them in paint, so you can stamp a floral pattern onto the legionnaire's armour. Of course, don't do it until you've tested the stamp's look on a piece of paper.
That way you won't need to draw each individual flower.

luther was loyalist, the lion was a traitor, the fallen were loyalists and the lion tried to purge them istvaan III style, didnt work and they survived. the fallen tried to warn the emperor but the lion got to them first. the dark angels (who are traitors) continue to hunt the fallen so they wont get found out. thats why they still do crazy shit in 40k like legion build and attack fenris.

You really don't know the lore too well. Horus got scared of the loyalist reinforcments, lowered his shields, Sang was tired after 198 days of defending the palace and managed to get one good hit on the Chaos infused Horus. Then Horus decided to be a jerk and caused the Black Rage which made the Blood Angels go berserk which surprised everyone.

Sanguinius was runner up for Warmaster along with Lion'el due to his accomplishments during the Great Crusade. What a lot of people also forget is that he became Warmaster after Horus betrayed. It's mentioned in the 40k lore but hasnt been fleshed out by BL yet and took the fight to the traitors. And then there is the whole chink in Horus' armour thing that let the Emperor finally defeat him. Sanguinius did do things, the IX just haven't had their day in a FW book and Fear to Tread was pretty localised and dealt only with Signus.

But what I truly meant was none of the Primarchs have done anything of consequence since the end of the HH. They've all run away or been in the Warp for no reason.

The order Horus send Lorgar with to Ultramar was to stop the Smurfs from reinforcing Terra. This along with the fact that Lorgar knew that not killing Girlyman would result in him drawing away reinforcements from Terra (the whole Imperium Secundus).

if anything, even with the unexpected turns, the campaigns was a Traitor success; Guilleman did not go to Terra, the UM's military infrastructure was severely compromised. (Loss of half the legion at Calth, loss of Armatura which was a lynchpin the the Ultramar military infrastructure) along with the destruction of secondary targets means that Horus got exactly what he wanted.

A situation where Guilleman's caution prevented him for effectively organizing a counter attack on the Traitor base in the sectors around the Isstvaan system.

Didn't they get split into 5-6 Second Founding chapters? That's as many as any non-UM legion was able to found.

Also, question: Sanguinius, the Lion, and Guilliman were together in Ultramar, stranded because of the Ruinstorm. How did Sanguinius and the Blood Angels get back to Terra in time for the siege but not the other two?

They know that it was primarchs that screwed up the galaxy. They fixed their own problem to the extent possible, saw how distrustful humanity now was of the Astartes, and decided it was time to hand things over to the pre-posthumans. They had always been childish and impulsive anyway.

And the ones more predisposed to managing empires got hurt badly enough to go into stasis...

Hilarious.

Sanguinius went to Terra straight away, the Lion roamed around killing bats, linking up with the Wolf and saving every planet they came across.I don't know for Guilliman.

The counterargument is that the traitors might've won on Terra if Horus hadn't dropped the Vengeful Spirit's shields to get the Emperor to come to him. He did because the Space Wolves and Ultramarines were close to reaching Terra and joining the fight. If they hadn't been close, I assume the traitor forces would've pressed on deeper into the Palace.

If they could destroy the Golden Throne, there'd be daemon reinforcements streaming in and taking the Emperor down would be pretty realistic.

The Space Wolves were few by then, so it was the Ultramarines approaching that forced Horus's hand. Leaving them alive may have sounded okay at first, but it was going to be a problem.

Glad to be of service, Anon. Show us your work when you get done.

the ultramarines only had like 50k marines at the most though

basically horus was just a fucking idiot who wanted to kill the emperor himself because he was an egomaniac. they wouldve destroyed the golden throne and had unlimited demons running around before the smurfs showed up

there is a difference between knocking out a military entity and killing it...

simply put, although killing Girlyman would have been a nice bonus, it was not the main objective, which was to suckerpunch the Smurfs into not reinforcing Terra out of fear of losing Ultramar.

If anything, it shows the genius of Lorgar, who estimated (correctly and helped a bit) that Girlyman's inherent caution would work against him if he could not guarantee favorable circumstances because it went against his rational nature.

the combination of lack of information, loss of his military infrastructure and the lloss of the capability to effectively conduct large scale fleet engagements meant that the Smurfs were stuck on Macragge doing nothing until long after Lorgar and Angron buggered off to attack Terra.

The thing here is that planning 4 years in advance is rather hard to do.

but yes, the outcome of the Shadow crusade was hardly optimal for Horus, although it cannot be faulted to either Lorgar or Angron, given that it did exactly what Horus had intended to happen. The only reason why it backfired was because the Lion showed up, bitchslapped the Smurfs and told them to start being useful

Let's have a source that that was the plan all along, champ. It seemed more that lorgar and angron were making it up as they went along/improvising as angron charged off after things. There didn't seem to be much of a masterplan.

Also, the ultramarines coming to reinforce terra helped push horus into the shields-dropping gamble. Finish guilliman and the UM => they can't help terra => horus maybe doesn't have to drop his shields => horus maybe wins. So if leaving the UM alive was indeed part of Lorgar's plan, doing so directly led to chaos losing. Great planning there.
