Long ago I asked a question but my internet died and I never saw the answer.

So I'm gonna ask again: Can I make Stormhosts made from Orruks? I got this back story of some Un-orky(orruky?) tribe that was enamored by the idea of literally coming back for annuver go again and again, stuck in a never ending cycle of war, death, and rebirth. So they begged Sigmar to remake them, a request he granted reluctantly.

If I was to make these 'Stormboyz', could they be considered possible according to fluff, like if I entered an official game with them I could use them and treat them as Eternals, or am I going too far?

If the whole tournament is organized that way, it's ridiculous and you probably don't want to be participating with them anyway. Do what you want to do.

I think it sounds fun, but I would go much farther than merely headswapping stormcast models.

I would still go with orruk models base, giving them sigmarite armour bits and weapons, and painting them in a crisp SCE-like paintscheme.

Even though the SCE are reforged into better beings, I think something like orruks would retain some of their skeletal structure and posture.

So for a unit of liberators I would probably get Ardboys, give them liberator shoulders, shields, swords, and remove any orky iconography and maybe give them ribbon bits and those hair things flowing from their helmets. Ardboys seem to be about the same size as liberators.

Then for the paladins, you will need something bigger. I would suggest 40k nobz. Again I would still do Ardboys helmets with the tassles added, and plenty of sigmarite armour pieces and weapons. Get those relic pieces to put on their backs.

The only way to make this conversion project affordable would really to raid bits sites.

So I asked over in WIP but I feel it may be more apt here.

I purchased a Maw-krusha the other day, he's all assembled (I decided to finally start magnitizing stuff so his weapons can be swapped out) but I can't decide if I should make him a part of my old Spider tribe of goblins, or if I should start a New orc only army. Goblins I kinda based being in swamplands, and I feel the dragon would look better on a wrecked battlefield or an icy mountain. What do you guys think?

>>For many centuries the mightiest of mankind’s warriors have been whisked off battlefields, called to a higher cause. In thunder flashes, those chosen are taken to Sigmaron amongst the stars of the Celestial Realm. Great and perilous trials await.

----------

>>Wars can be won or lost by leadership and none know this better than Sigmar. For this reason, the God-King himself chose each of the Lord-Celestants, selecting only the best of the best – the greatest and most exceptional of mankind’s heroes from across the realms.

------------

>>Only the most noble, most heroic of Mankind’s conjurers, shamans, or prophets are chosen by Sigmar to become Lord-Relictors. Only they have the ability to incant the summonings and wield the celestial magics that will call forth the thundering aetheric powers. Yet no matter their might in the mystic arts, only those aspirants who have the deepest faith in themselves and in Sigmar survive the final test of Reforging

-------------

>>Liberators are the most common type of soldier amongst the Stormhosts. In mortal life each was a hero of mankind – a warrior chosen by Sigmar for their martial prowess, great strength or the steel within their souls. Blasted apart by lightnings, they are reforged anew, physically and spiritually blended with gifts from the gods and the God-King’s blessing.

------------
>>He was the most heroic of mankind’s champions, a great king and guardian of men from an age rapidly growing darker. When he was chosen as the first by Sigmar, the God-King poured into him a prodigious portion of divine might. Yet the process was not fully concluded – this greatest of aspirants remained in stasis in the storm-wracked dome of the Forbidden Vault

These are excerpts from the battletome. Feel free to copypasta this whenever someone questions the humanity of the Stormcast or ask about non-human Stormcast.

If I recall correctly, those were made in the beginnings of AoS when the Stormcast battletome had yet to come out and John Reynolds came out said "Stormcast are made from everything you guys.".

Really should serve as an example of a BL writer's word usually not being anywhere close to law and them not usually not being aware of what GW has planned. Though you could argue it's GW's fault for not making this clear to them. I'm pretty sure by the time the first AoS book came out that the Stormcast battletome was already packed in boxes for shipping.

>>
>>47641027
>If I recall correctly, those were made in the beginnings of AoS when the Stormcast battletome had yet to come out and John Reynolds came out said "Stormcast are made from everything you guys.".

This is an example of you being dishonest. The guy just said that GW was keeping things intentionally vague about the Stormcast and when asked about non-human and female Stormcast he said sure go ahead because he didn't care about the subject. He didn't say "they are non-human Stormcast Fo Sures".
>>
>>47641282

Honestly if you don't care about being true to lore, I don't see why you shouldn't go ahead if you like the idea.

At the very least you could as the other Anon said and create and Ironjaws army kitbashed with Stormcast bits.

>>47641344

My apologies for not remembering something that happened close to a year ago.

In which case the only thing I can say is that he could have been a little more clear and that GW should have probably been more clear from the beginning.
>>
>>47641420
If GW had been old-time GW they would have told us about AoS a few months beforehand to build up hype/let people down gently. Unfortunately it turned into a shitstorm we're still dealing with. I'm just glad they've begun to open up again. I wanna know what happens with my ælfs.
>>
>>47641436

In a way I can see why they've been secretive with some things. If people know a new kit or book is going to come out, sales for those are probably going to drop in the months leading up except from the people who like the older models and better and try to snap them up.

With AoS I also imagine they would have sold less End Times books and models than they did and people may have been soured on the series as a whole and possible missed something they'd enjoy.

Of course I've no evidence to prove the above one way or another, only that what GW does they probably do as being viewed in their best interest. If they're becoming more open I see that possibly as an admitted defeat of not being able to control the spread of accurate rumors.
>>
>>47641420
>My apologies for not remembering something that happened close to a year ago.

You should apologize for your dishonesty. Because your "misremembering" looked like an intentional move to push forward an agenda.

He said that GW kept things vague and there are currently nothing solid about them. When dudes ask him if they can build mini armies based around non-human/femalecast, who was he to tell them otherwise? He had no information at hand and he didn't seem to really care about the subject. Let the nerds do as they want.

These tree Aelves are Wanderers who are paying penance for abandoning the realm of life. Fusing with trees is the only way they can reconnect with their queen.

- fused dryad/treekin

So I just listened to the podcast interview with Gav Thorpe, and I understand why there's no "litte guy" view yet, as many of us are wanting. It's coming later. As the story progresses and we join up with new or old factions, their fluff will come along, but not before. Dwarves, elves and men, no fluff until relevant in the storyline. Kind of because they want to keep it storydriven (imo) and also because they have no real prescence in the realms any more except in azyr (maybe expect that to change with ulgu/hysh unveil, as the story hints that malerion has elves in ulgu, and order still rules in parts of hysh, which might be why those two are still virtually unexplored) except for the scattered tribes and ruins of previous lands. They want to keep it that way until each faction is ready for its reveal.

It'd be a bit of a stretch. Try Bretonnian knight heads instead if you really want to convert those stormcasts.
>>
>>47643705
More sylvaneth next, then hopefully elves/slaanesh, after that, who knows, but I'm rooting for Free People. The only bit about them is that they move up behind the Stormcast to rebuild, repopulate and garrison the freed lands.

actual age of sigmar rules related question TG:
empire steam tank, if you overpressure it and thus get re-rolls on the random values: take highest or take last one?
>>
>>47644159
Unless it says you can pick, the new roll is final when you reroll a die
>>
>>47644159
>take last one
Take the last one, reroll is reroll, not roll twice and pick the best.
>>
>>47644159
Says any random value, so you get to pick. I would expect you to reroll low numbers to get more hits.
>>
>>47644236
i was anoyed at the wording on this aswell "any random value"
or any "random" value.

so re roll EVERYTHING
or reroll all Dsomething values..

So after a decent nights sleep and mulling it over in my head I've decided to include the Maw-Krusha I bought recently, and some Orcs in with my spider Goblin stuff.
My thought process is thus, I'm going to have 5 boar riders with armor, 5 Orruk brutes with armor, and the Warboss with armor, The rest of the orcs and Goblins will be tribal/savage.

As for the Base of the Maw-Krusha I'm thinking about putting an offering shrine on it to kind build a theme of "The tribe has never seen a dragon before and thinks it's a god" much like the Arachnarok spiders.

Suggestions on stuff to build up on the shrine? I'm looking for a good base as well...I feel it needs to be proppa' orky

little piles of stones, like barrows or shrine markers, with food offerings piled against them, maybe skulls and teef too.
maybe a chained grot.. or half of one

so a friend and i are going to get into sigmar, and we're gonna buy a starter box each.
we're coming from 40k, so we can look at these warscrolls and understand them, but how do we balance against eachother? i see theres some fan-made systems, what is best to use for novices?
>>
>>47643524
This is pretty much how I thought it would eventually go down, but it's nice to hear reassurance.

We have to remember that this game's setting and story is barely a year old. The old world had years of supplements, rulebooks, novels, and even pnp rpg's to develop the setting. And that this game is focusing on the evolving story instead of just the setting, which is why we aren't getting the whole picture until the story arrives there.

I can't wait until they get to my Grungni duardin!
>>
>>47644645
There are fan made systems. Check the op pastebin for options.

Also gw is going to come out with an official points system this summer, so there's that too. Don't worry too much. Play a few games to get the basic rules structure down and figure out the intricacies of how it plays, build and paint your armies, and when the General's Compendium comes out, then you will get some rules for competitive matched play.

something tells me the new Slaanesh models will be another disappointment.

>>
>>47644645
The basic rules for balancing forces are pretty much rubbish because they balance it by model count.

A good way (not a perfect way, but it's a start) is to balance by wounds.

My house runs the following rules, built up over the past 6 months of playing AOS:
1. Games are balanced by Wounds. Standard games are 50-100 Wounds Models with a 5+ save count for 1/2 the normal amount.
2. You cannot add more than 50% of the initial Wound value to the game through summoning or other abilities. A unit that summons/adds other units cannot use these kinds of abilities on the turn they were summoned/added to the game.
3. No more than 3 of each of the following keyword: Hero, Wizard, War Machine, Priest, Monster
4. Certain named characters have a cost that differs from their Wounds: Kroak (10), Archaon (30), Nagash (40)
5. A roll of 1 is always a failure, even if it would normally succeed on a 1+
6. A die can only be rerolled once

There are also numerous point systems that you can find here: http://www.scrollbuilder.com/

None of them are perfect, but they are a lot better than the basic rules.
>>
>>47644796
>>47644645
thanks, i knew about the wounds system, my friend has a tendency to pull random shit from the net and insist we use it without understanding it

Played my first game with chaos dwarfs the other day. 3v3 game with 8 box sizes each. I brought 30 infernal guard, 10 fireglaives, 1 castellan, 1 bsb, 1 chaos sorc lord and 2 hellcannons. The hellcannons did their normal thing and the stunties did ok before they got murdered by a stardrake and battleshock. MVP was the castellan who finished the drake off with his great weapon (3+/3+ -2 3dam rerolling 1s to hit and wound, +1 to wound is silly) They're really not as bad as I thought they would be but I really have to be careful about the infantry. Im working on converting a magmadroth to use as drazhoath the ashen, and finally building my mortar to try out. Any idea on normal dwarf models to convert into chaos dwarfs? question time:
I used a GW primer to prime in white a celestant prime.
It was a sunny danny, i primed from the distance said in the instructions and shook the can for 3 minutes.
the result has been atrocious and a celestant prime, 3 prosecutors and some other models are completely ruined.
Am I in position to ask GW for a refund or change my models?

>>47647973
Short answer no, but you can pick this stuff up super cheap and it will strip all that primer away and it's safe for the plastic

So you have no actual justification or argument to why this game shouldn't have points?

Good to know. Fanboys are so blinded by sunk cost fallacy that they can't see the objectively poor design choices in the product.

How is saying it's totally unplayable incorrect? If you want to just play a game and not be fair, you could do that just as easy with points, but without points or some kind of balancer system, it's for '''fun''' or nothing.

If you can enjoy it, good for you mate, but this is total bollocks and not the solution to WHFB's many problems.

Ive been reading the main books (the numbered ones) and enjoyed nearly all (hammers of sigmar's story on the celestant prime i did not enjoy at all)

The lore that is given in them and the characteristics of each lord celestant is what i enjoy the most. Though saying that i found call of archaon and the fury of gork to be in the top. Archaon one because of awesome character background (mir being awesome) and gork one because of how the celestant prime deals with the orrucs.

Again, that'd be the sensible thing to do.
Also, I'm still kinda bitter about Storm of Chaos, so I have my doubts that GW won't just take the results, toss them quietly out the window and go with their own version of events.

>>
>>47651847
>implying this will actually change the inevitable end of the long-term story
It won't. Archaon or Sigmar will still eventually win. It's more likely going to be:

>fyreslayers win! the rune they put into Ignax activates and he turns back to order and wrecks stuff, ect
>Sylvaneth win! Realm of life is taken back and purged of nurgle taint
>Chaos wins! Realm of life is contested and maybe Arielle is wounded
>Stormcast win! They help Arielle take back Realm of life
>Death wins! Nagash does something

Most likely it will be some combination of everyone's exploits and not just one winner in the fluff.

So gentlemen I pose a question to you. How much is too much?
I ask because I just got done tearing all the square bases off my goblins.

151 spider riders, 48 tribal goblins with bows, 37 tribals with spears, 86 night goblins with spears, 136 night goblins with bows, 3 fanatics, 6 orc Boar riders, and about 30+ "unique" goblins with different standards or instruments or heros
I haven't removed my 14 trolls from their bases yet because I don't know what size base to put them on, same with my boss goblin on a spider, and my 3 arachnaroks.
And I have 5 brutes and 10 savage orcs to put together still.
>>
>>47653640
That amount sounds pretty standard given how 8th edition was. Trolls I'd say 50mm and the spider boss would be 50mm or 60mm. The arachnaroks I think would almost have to be 160mm circles, but maybe a knight base? basing the 100x150mm squares are the hardest.
>>
>>47653899

Is the 160mm circle the one the maw-krusha comes with? I think that might be a little too big. I could see the knight sized base though.
>>
>>47654020
Yes, and looking at the arachnarok, it may need it. I'm trying to find the square-round overlay pics someone posted.

Honestly it kind of disappoints me to see stuff like this as Slaanesh proxies because they seemingly miss the entire point of Slaanesh and either go somewhat generic succubi or attempt to sell to the people who like the Diaz Daemonettes for their attractiveness, which is kind of the same as the aforementioned. Slaanesh to me should be more disgusting or horrifying before it's attractive, not the other way around.

Basically a Bret Lord after learning about the lady gets disgruntled and strikes out on his own ideals with his help from his Empire wizard buddy and makes his own kingdom on a tamed giant land tortoise that can also swim.

Picking up bands of survivors and training them along with taming other monsters, they traverse the Realms fighting for their own cause.

Warbeast was good, better than expected, because of one reason. I dunno how to spoiler on phone, but URSUN LIVES! was pretty great.
Also more insight into SCE/Sigmar relationship was good.
Hunt for Nagash was very well made, a driving story and Nagash was pretty good. Arkhan a best though. I've startes Fyreslayers, but it's not giving me any good feelings. Paint them brown (can't remember the name) to start with, then highlight over it with watered down ushabti bone. You might need to do several layers for it too look any good. Then wash with a mix of nuln oil and agrax earthshade. Bones aren't white, but more of a cream colour, and the brown makes them look aged. I haven't painted a full skeleton (yet) but I used that method to paint the skull in the middle on this guy.

/40k/apist here.
I have 2 questions, i hope you can help me:

1) I'm converting Cadians into Cultists, and I was thinking to use the Blood Reavers arms.
Are they of a comparable scale? I heard AoS stuff is huge.

2) I have plenty of Daemons, so I was thinking of trying some AoS, because why not.
For what I know, rules for my stuff (Hosts of Slaanesh) is in the Grand Alliance Chaos book, but I don't see it in the various mega.
There is no scan yet? Or did I miss something?

All the rules are free, go onto the GW website page for whatever unit you're thinking of taking and there'll be a free pdf download (make sure you're on the AOS version for daemons rather than 40k). As a result of free rules nobody's bothered to scan the grand allience books, as there isn't much in them apart from the rules.

Strangely that section for the rules doesn't show up if I select my country in the top right.

If you're cool with your guys looking like orang-utans it might work, otherwise the arms are too large and too muscular.
Cadians are kind crap anyway, so I don't know why you'd want to use them in the first place.

>>

I already have plenty of the normal cultists, so i needed some variations.

I have some tallarnians, that work wonders as cultists, and now I wanted some cadians.

I saw this GW conversion in an old WD, made for Renegades and Heretics, and i thought it was pretty cool.

The only bits about chaos dwarves we know so far is that the fyreslayers recruit from both regular and chaos dorfs. Hashut hasn't been mentioned so far, but apparently FW has plans to create a sort-of battletome for the dawi zharr.
And, yes, people would frown at a warmachine army. They're boring anyway; either you shoot your opponent to shit by turn two, or you get your head staved in.
>>
>>47661400
Nice.
>>
>>47661351
>>47661431
Hmm, maybe some cool fluff would be that they hate or rebel against the fyreslayers, and basically do what the silver tower marauder's tribe did: pray to grimnir or something then call him a false god and worship chaos, trying to collect ur-gold to remake Hashut, because even though he is mostly gone, they hear voices or something telling them that's how he can come back.

Also I've been playing in team games a lot lately, and it's usually order vs chaos. Chaos doesn't have a lot of shooting so I'm mostly just throwing warmachines behind a wall of chaos warriors. Unfortunately there may be a warmachine arms race going on, as we have like 3 or so players talking about getting multiple empire/dwarf cannons.

https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/fw_site/fw_pdfs/aos_warscrolls/warhammer-aos-legion-of-azgorh.pdf

However, since the Fyreslayers seem to recruit dawi zharr (including the founders of the fyreslayer priesthood, the Zharrgrim) then it is possible to see them releasing more dawi zharr models that are NOT part of the Legion of Azgorh

Also, you have to make sure temperature conditions are alright when you're priming. If its too cold or too hot the primer will clump on your miniatures (guessing this is what happened to you). As mentioned, simple green should fix you up. Just make sure its not too humid when you prime either. I think I read in a WD that GW suggests between 50 and 90 degrees as an acceptable temperature.
