There are no rules for it, no. But people do it anyway because the game invites more narrative character creation. So it's pretty freeform since there are no points.

My method is I take another warscroll as base, and replace some of their abilities with different ones.

Like with he r>>47509058, I took the runelord and replaced the runestaff attack with the shield from the Belegar Ironhammer legacy warscroll.

With him >>47509058, he's basically just the cogsmith warscroll, and I replaced his base armour (5+ save) with the forge-proven gromril armour from the irondrakes.

This is my general, Lord Dunhill. With him I just took a dwarf lord on shieldbearers with shield and runeweapon, and I changed his rune weapon with a great run hammer and replaced the shieldbearers hammer attacks with the steam-powered gauntlet attack from the Grimm Burloksson legacy warscroll.

There aren't any rules, but most people are down for making your own characters. Just base them roughly on already existing characters and talk to your opponent about them.
Here are a couple of mine. These are made for a narrative 'Seven Samurai'-style campaign that will soon start at the flgs.
Incidentally, I still need to come up with one character for this thing. Any concepts or ideas?

How viable is a pure Deathrattle army? I got a bunch of them from tk and vc armies and I wanna go with flesh eaters, so they kinda get left on their own. well, bayonetta is literally too over-the-top.
Darksiders 2 aka not-prince-of-persia had aesthetics similar to aos, a good combat system and was pretty fun. With less platforming, more weapon variety and maybe a decent storyline(also: rpgesque lvups plz)an Aos game would have a lot of potential.
think about it: theres plenty of villains to craft, you have realmagets wich can be used to warp trough levels without feeling out of context, you have both enemy to be slayed musou-style in the hundreds(skavens)and elite enemies(chaos).
You have a Power metal aesthetic were you can craft ahetever kingdoms/realms/villages you want so you have TOTAL freedom on the plot...its prefect.

I agree but the coding for chagen and combat could be a pain if a few bad decisions are made. A Souls like needs to know what character model the player will be using so letting anything non humanoid in (as a player) would be a pain. I assume it would be possible to make it work for all creatures in the setting and the idea of Nashy as a boss fight is amazing but I think strategy is the easiest way to go.

Hey folks.

So I posted a Seraphon list I was thinking about getting and got some feedback on it.

So I'm thinking about buying the following since I really like the models but I'll need to fill out a bit more of the list, so I could use some advice.

-Start Collecting Seraphon bundle
-Bastiladon
-Engine of the Gods
-Saurus Guard x30
-Slann Starmaster
-Skin Priest
-Saurus Sunblood
-Saurus Eternity Warden

So that will come to 107 wounds with our custom rules, but if I don't use the knights or the warriors that come in the collecting seraphon bundle I'll have 85 wounds.

So what would you recommend adding for another 15 wounds? I'm just not sure I'll be buying any of the fliers. They're too expensive for what they can do imo.

I watched Arch Warhammer on youtube. He has a bunch of lore videos. He sounds pretty nerd but that just means he knows what hes talking about. He goes in depth on the societies and histories of each of the races and the major wars.

And basically, the Old world blew up and in blowing up it created 8 magical realms for each wind of magic. Each one of them is basically endless so you can make whatever you want with them. Maps in the books all refers to specific parts of the realm in wich boo's campaign is taking place, but for your games and Your Dudes you can basically do what you want.

Best way is to read battletomes or the first campaign book-Age Of Sigmar. The rest mostly narrates the ongoing campaign of stormcasts vs Archaon.

Kind of, and only in the most corrupted places. All realms bear resemblance to their wind of magic-fire has a lot of lava, volcanos and shit but also there are are a lot of places where settlements can be built.
Most of the realms tho have very little life on them because chaos smashed it during the centuries after the Age of Myth.
AOS doesn't begin immeadately after the explosion of the old world: after that other Ages have passed. civilization prospered again troughout all realms and old races and clans "evolved"and adapted to their new lands, then chaos came-again-and raped almost everyone. Sigmar said: fuck this and took as many people from ALL realms he could, then sealed the realmagates to azyr with a giant middle finger to anyone still in the lands and locked himself in Azyr masturbating to 40k fanfiction creating sigmarines.
So most of the people who remained alive are either cultists-because its the only reality they know, so they can be pretty average people but still tainted in some way or another-scattered tribe running from chaos followers or small realms and/or communities either hiding or trying to resists against chaos.
Its ALL pretty vague because GW in Aos is pushing Your Dudes really hard. they don't want a streamlined setting so anyone can have their piece of it and there's very little you can say "hurr thats not canon".

Sigmarines models are actually pretty good but the heads push too much the WE'RE LIKE SPACE MARINES and kinda ruins them. They look like really stupid as metallic armours.

If the rules do work like that, do you think it would be better for wounds to only be allocated to models within the melee range of attacking models? making the pile in rule and weapons with longer melee rangers more significant?

yes. You need the unit to be in range of the weapon-like, even only one model-but then the woundsaffects the whole unit.
pile in and longer melee weapons are pretty fine like they are now. Its still REALLY hard to have big units to attack wholly with short ranged weapons, so long range weapons still have a HUGE advantage.
best option, as usual, is to mix and match different weapons like a good general, with a solid front line of double weapons and a huge bacline of spears.

We found anything that big felt kinda shitty, the way the rules are set up sigmar feels way more interesting with small skirmish games focused around objectives, the moment you have whole armies clashing it really starts to feel lame.

My favourite Simgar games so far have all been really small scale with like 2 units, 2 Hero/monster and 3 objectives spread out over the table with a lot of terrain. The synergy and combat aspects really start to matter a lot when you're both being forced to stretch what you have.

100 wounds is not that terrible, I usually play with 80-100 wounds on the table and the game feels perfect. With one big model(12-15 wounds), 2-3 heroes you get 3 more units. Not too much stuff imho, you can get a game done in little more than one hour and it feels fun and you get full sinergies from the whole army.
In my area the most common format is 50 wounds tho, works pretty good but usually people play with one big model, a single unit and a support hero. Its fun but can become boring pretty soon unless you don't have acess to summons, because its usually the units clashing while he centerpieces wait for the best moment to strike.

I did the effect using multiple glazes of light grey/azure grey to cover the marble "stripes". After i did all the shadow, glazes and washes i did multiple drybrushes of pure white, as messier as possible. This covered a LOT of details giving it a more realistic effect.

I wanted to make it like their armour was made of marble, of it looked "kind of" it.
i hate the gold/metalic effect, i iked the "sanctity"idea around them and so I made something reminescent of statues of Saints from gothic europe. A lot of marble, a lot of gold. red and blue are there to add a bit of colour.

Thanks to everyone anyway! Its a scheme tought to be fast. Like this, i can complete the armour in around 1hr per model(not counting drying time of course)

I'm not sure I see the use of 2"+ range melee weapons. The idea would be either that you have a big unit of models and they all pile up, or you maintain a tiny frontage towards the target unit, so that you can attack but they cannot. But since they get to attack after you charge them, you have to have a model within 1/2" of theirs, and each time they attack they get the pile-in move, it doesn't seem likely that you'll end up with models at distances greater than 1". What am I missing?

I love 2" weapons. When you are fighting in ranks (common with infantry) you get more attacks off than if you were using 1" weapons.

It is also very helpful for reaching over units to hit specific targets. I use it all the time on my Oldblood on Carnosaur to hit wizards or heroes that are behind other models.

Also AOS measures model to model so if you don't have 2" reach then you can't hit flyers like Ripperdactyls/Terradons.

They just allow massive units to make more attacks, basically. At a certain point your own dudes will be blocking other friendly troops from attacking, 2" range weapons mean you can still get attacks in with the 'back ranks'.

I don't see what's not to get there.
There are basically two ways to use spears and the like. If you take a unit you will never get all that many models within 1" of the enemy by default, you'd need several pile-ins to make the most of it. weapons with long reach allow for many more models to contribute right from the get go.
The other way to use them is to have a tough unit absorb an enemy charge and a unit with longer weapons hide behind them to stab through the anvil unit, which piles in to encircle and trap the enemy unit.

Let's be real here, the colors on that Bull Centaur look like he was ripped right out of WoW.

Someone posted pic related in the total war general on /vg/. Anyone know what they're on about? That assassin elf in Silver Tower had "shard" in their name so it could be to do with them, but I didn't think any of the fluff had explicitly said this.

You first place one of each variant and only then do you place others.

Example: There are two of each of the three Tzaangor sculpts: Dual-wield, sword'n'board and two-handed axe.

If you have to deploy three, you have to place one of each.
If you have to deploy two, the rune-marked player decides which of the three sculpts to leave out.
If you have to deploy 4, you place one of each sculpt and the rune-marked player decided which sculpt to deploy a second one of.

Just look at the AoS designs.
They could be taken 1:1 from WoW. The Angel dudes from the Sigmarines are a spin on the Angel from Diablo.

In any case GW made a change in artstyle and the proportions used in their designs as well the colors used for the artwork and promo stuff. Draws pretty heavily on the Blizzard cartoon style coined by Samwise imo.
You can find similar designs in other places as well of course. In any case they have become a lot more generic.

Can a unit succeed a charge if it does not end up next to the target model?

Example: I have 2 units, 1 with 1 inch range weapons and 1 with 3 inch range weapons. If my 1 inch guys make it in, do my 3 inch guys have to go the long way round so that they also arrive within 1 inch of the enemy, or can they finish their charge behind the 1st unit and attack over them because they have range?
