To be honest actual images of any TES gods aren't very pretty.
>>
>>47391513
Well black and red, along with white, are very basic color distinctions for simple cultures. Usually it's light vs dark, but light and dark aren't colors themselves so we take them to more binary extremes.
It's actually super annoying when "ancient civilizations" have gods that are a rainbow of color, as if these people with basic understanding would know the difference between blue and green.

>>
Do you think we'll get more bosmer doing actual things in the games?
Not greenpact-tier lore stories, but like a bosmer that isn't just another thief in the thieves guild.
>>
>>47393262
Issue 1: Bosmer, never mind their lore, have been pretty much invariably depicted in-game as creepy neckbeards who don't really do much of anything. A few shopkeepers, a bunch of "commoners" wandering the streets complaining about how fucked up their lives are, and honestly, *all* the joke characters. Fargoth, Gaenor, Glarthir, the Adoring Fan, etc.

Issue 2: nobody in any Elder Scrolls game does *anything*, except the main character. Everybody else just stays on their block giving out fetch quests and spamming random conversation.
>>
>>47393262
There's Bosmer who do "actual things" in the lore.

Hard to say. I think Camlorn sounds cool from the books, though.

Daggerfall.

Caldera, Balmora, or Sadrith Mora. Caldera is comfy and a great place to teleport from, Balmora has the best shops, and Sadrith Mora is the cool and weird Telvanni mushroom wizard town.

Skingrad.

Very hard. Whiterun, probably. I really like Riften, I just wish I could purge the Thieves guild and settle down there. Solitude and Markarth are both excellent, though.

Vivec - all the layers were awesome and took so many playthroughs to fully explore.

Cheydinhal - Just seemed cozy as fuck

Markarth - Because cool design and all the other cities sucked
>>
>>47396545
Haven't played the fist two of the main series, let alone the other games.
Vivec, even though it's the main town of morrowind, is a great place simply because it's vertical. There's not enough up and down areas on the games, and it sucks.
I want to like the imperial city, but it somehow has no sense of an upper level except for the main tower, which you only go into during the guild quest. Didn't really like many of the cities enough to call them home, but Anvil was pretty cool.
I preferred Winterhold, simply for the college and the sea destroying part of it.

Dagon Fel: like living in a Dwemer ruin without the annoying bots.

Bravil: beacause just stacking shipping crates one atop the other actually kinda works.

Falkreath: one of the few non-respawning dungeons in the game is just outside. Clear it out and set it up as a castle/manor house; cheaper than buying a place in town.
>>
>>47398414
It would be horrendous for a normal person to be made autistic

It's a whole, fundamentally different way to experience life, and see the world, and autists deep into the spectrum need therapy and a lot of trial-and-error life experience in order to be able to function properly. A social demon could turn into a withdrawn, inept loner with stilted speech. Anyone in a position involving leadership would find it very hard if not impossible to do his duties. All the social knowledge people build up during their lives would stop being intuitive and start being something that has to be consciously used constantly. To top this off, you'd gain a lot of assorted "weird guy" traits - odd body language, inability to show your emotions properly or read those of others, a urge to self-stimulate etc.

Imagine taking a normal person and transforming him into one of the most crippled specimens of /r9k/. It'd be absolutely crushing
>>
>>47398859
Oh, and about the "social demon" bit, it'd be probably even worse for him to NOT become withdrawn. He'd still try to be the heart of the party, pick up girls and all that normie jazz, but with absolutely no charm or self awareness and either no or TOO MUCH self confidence

>>
>>47399602
Of course.Lore isn't fact, there isn't hard science to prove it.
It's a lot of extrapolation and metaphors, neither of which can always be interpreted a "correct" way.

If I say skyrim grass is green, or I say skyrim grass is lush with the vibrancy of life, those are not the same thing. "life" includes flower colors like white and purple, with brown patches because death is how life cycles. It can also include animals and bugs.

>>47397246
It's a shame many of the major 'cities' of Skyrim are so lackluster.
>>
>>47397246
Seriously? Morthal? You might be able to give it points for the interesting use of walkways, but it really had nothing at all to it. It was an overglorified village with boring NPCs outside of the new magic man in town.
>>
>>47400981
The Jarl was one of the best. She is the closest we have to a clever woman
>>
>>47401177
I feel that's up to interpretation, especially when there are ladies like the one who takes over in Dawnstar for the Imperials. Even Saadia is pretty convincing with her lies, and Elisef might be a naive figurehead, but she still does right by her late husband and manages to work through diplomatic affairs well enough.
>>
>>47401239
I meany in the shaman sense
She has visions, magic and old traditional nord wisdom
Shame no one in the city likes her. Who replaces her again? The builder woman? Do the city people like her more since her name is literally "builder" wich seems like a name for someone who places importance on improving the town
>>
>>47401385
I don't know why she's the replacement, I just think it's sad they couldn't even find anyone in town they'd want to replace her with - especially when the place is characterized as being leery of strangers.

I admit my choice, Falkreath, probably has the worst Imperial Jarl of the lot. But at least its his advisors that make all the decisions anyway - the Stormcloak Jarl will replace them with a housemaid due to his paranoia.
>>
>>47401430
Nah, Maven is the worst imperial jarl
Falkreath is actually pretty balanced. While the stormcloak jarl(Dengveir or something?) is paranoid, he still wont order excecutions or cell time just on paranoia alone and he respects all people while still staying loyal to Ulfric
>>

Autism is not really mental (it's more like inborn brain damage) disorder, so I doubt sheogorath can cause, but I'm pretty sure it exists in Tamriel. Otherwise we wouldn't have had Dwemer. Probably those Aldmer genes that are associated with Dwarven autism are present in every elven race. Men might be immune to autism, but Bretons are probably affected and they do have a good magical affinity which is a sign of mild autism,

In all probability, the Usurper summoned the daedra and undead in Arenthia and slowly replaced the original summoned creatures with the armies of his conquered territories. Most armies of Valenwood have been historically mercenary."

Here's an idea:
In terms of pure speculation, Valenwood would probably have a somewhat different idea of what displays wealth. For example, if you have your home built from actual timber, that's a display of wealth. Because it means you're rich enough to import it. Displaying metals is also probably a bigger sign of wealth than outside Valenwood, since you can't really mine in Valenwood. A rich ruler might show his wealth by buying ships from Alinor or Hammerfell. Or Khajiiti pelts.

I enjoyed its size - it's one of the few cities outside of Winterhold that actually feels somewhat large, partially because it's so cluttered and vertical - but I just don't enjoy the white stone, and it feels all crumbly and ruined. Not to mention that most of the people are kind of dickish...

I was reading the lore book on the creation of Bonemold, when I stumbled across something interesting:

>“Well, this happened many, many, many years ago, when Vvardenfell was a beauteous green land, when Dunmer were Chimer and Dwemer and Nord lived together in relative peace when they weren't trying to kill one another,” Hallgerd relaxed in his chair, warming to his theme. “When the sun and moons all hung in the sky together--“

Since we know the moons are the corpse of Lorkhan, or what's left of his body, is it reasonable to assume that he was in the sky during the day when he was alive?

How exactly would a Bosmer even make wealth? They can't clear land, they have no means for infrastructure, and they have no agricultural produce. The one thing they can do, hunt for meat, they can't make a living off of either because their religion forces them to eat what they kill (not that they would even be able to sell it anyways, seeing as it is their only food source).
Valenwood is seriously the most useless territory ever, even more so than Argonia, which would at least provide a fair amount of resources and some useable land.
I'm pretty sure the only reason Reman and Tiber bothered conquering it was to make good looking maps.

>>
>>47409667
>How exactly would a Bosmer even make wealth?
Probably not very well. But:
Skins, pelts and bones is one way. Considering all the beings you find in Valenwood, there's probably some wealth in that. Consider the wealth of the pelt of a Wild Hunt monster. Then there's their famous brewing skills. And the absolutism of the Green Pact is something you can kind of call into question. For example, a Bosmeri brewer can use spells to encourage the right kind of mold on his fermenting meat, and drinking the juices of that is just fine. You can't eat the mold, I think, but you can drink the byproduct and stay within the rules.

You can probably do shore fishing, and proper fishing once you buy ships, as well as diving for things near the coast. When I said they couldn't do mining, that's based off my knowledge of early modern industrial mining (in the German tradition), but I suppose you could always pan for minerals. Maybe limited artisanal mining in other forms than panning, but that's not my field. I'm pretty sure you can mine salt without timber. You can also make salt in other ways without breaking with the Green Pact.

Also, did you guys know that at one point, Daggerfall was going to have bards performing randomly generated poetry in taverns? All of the poetry is in the files, though the feature was never implemented.
>>
>>47410889
Oh yeah! I actually found a list of that. The lines are so cheesy. They should leave poetry to the elves.

I really can't take Valenwood seriously for this reason. The pure strain Bosmer sound okay in concept, but when you start trying to imagine them as a society and it's basically a rain forest wasteland.

What does allying with Valenwood even accomplish for the Thalmor? They are barely even hunter-gatherers. Sub stone age structures like gobekli tepe would even be beyond them. What a boring and disgusting race.
>>
>>47411305
They're just gonna have some special snowflake shit like the hist.
Maybe they actually have parts of the numidium buried in the roots of the trees, or some other god item, but the information about it was "lost in time" or some shit, so only a super sekret klub still knows about it.
>>
>>47411305
They're fairly good archers, and it seems the lore has them trading for just about everything - they don't mind using timber that's already been cut.

They're a society that would be stone age if not for regular trade...which is undermined by the fact that they are becoming more and more isolationist.

>>

The Mages College had made it clear it's not affiliated with the war, yes. But they're a distant place to go to for enchantments, when most holds have a court wizard or some such. Even then, distrust of magic.
>>
>>47412768

>>
>>47412779
It's said in dialogue that most enchantments in Skyrim come from The College, not from court wizards. It's also said that while Nords distrust mages, they are absolutely in love with enchanted items.

Besides, if you have 14 people enchanting for an army, it's loads better than only 4.

Morrowind concept art had a "gladiator helm" under their Imperial Helm category.

I've seen real life gladiator helms and some of them were based off the attire of the Thracians, so that makes sense.

Side1: Most of Hlaalu and the Imperials.
--Pros: Unopposed in huge swaths of the island, including all the best agricultural land. Forts adjacent to the Redoran and Telvanni capitals. Mages Guild Teleport.
--Cons: Better diplomats and traders than fighters--the actual Legions excepted. If things go badly, Hlaalu may switch sides and leave the Imperials hung out to dry.

Side 2: Redoran, Temple, and possibly Cammona Tong and what's left of the Sixth House.
--Pros: Redoran best fighters. Pretty much every base is heavily fortified. Elite Ordinators and Bouyant Armigers. Temple has the support of the common people, mostly. Also one, possibly two actual Gods.
--Cons: The fucking Ashlands. Horrible terrain generally. Vivec's surrounded by Hlaalu and the Imperials, Redoran really doesn't have anywhere to fall back to.

Side 3: Telvanni.
--Pros: Wizards. Small bases throughout the Ashlands, Cordial, if tense, relations with three of the four major Ashlander tribes. Fyr, possibly.
--Cons: Spread out over a dozen islands, with little presence on the mainland. Not a lot of actual foot soldiers, and most of them are foreign mercenaries. Wizard-tier egos: they'd have trouble running a coordinated military campaign.

At I guess it'd be a cat-vs-turtle fight between Hlaalu and Redoran until Telvanni picked a side, at which point the losing side would get nuked.

>>
>>47417942
At least as far as in-game disposition goes, the Imperial Legion is on equal terms with Redoran as Hlaalu. I can't honestly say they'd chose Redoran over Hlaalu, especially since the Imperial Cult doesn't like Redoran as much, but I imagine the Imperials in areas farther from Hlaalu control would be willing to throw in with them, like around Fort Darius or Dagon Fel.

Also, what about the Ashlander tribes? And the Hlaalu would be more likely to get Cammona Tong support, since the Cammona Tong are in cahoots with the supposedly pro-Imperial house. And since the Cammona Tong have good reason to sympatize with Dagoth Ur's ideals, being sympathetic themselves, I think the Sixth House would most likely be on Hlaalu's side, hitting Redoran from one side and crippling them in the fight.

The Hlaalus would win, without a doubt. They have backing by the Empire, and the Empire wouldn't even be there if the other houses had any reason to believe they could win a war against them.
The fact that the Empire is able to just override Temple laws, like the settlement of Vvardenfell, just goes to show how much the Houses are kind of its bitch-boys. Hlaalu also likely has political and economic support from a shit load of other factions seeing as its the ruling House in Morrowind and is filled with foreign dignitaries.
Hlaalu could realistically win a war against all the other houses, just so long as they aren't the aggressors.

>House Indoril, whose fortunes were so entwined with the Tribunal Temple, suffered greatly from its fall. While House Indoril still technically exists, the priesthood of the Temple are now considered one and the same with House Indoril - those who become priests are now considered to have "joined Indoril." The political power of the Indoril has thus passed entirely into the hands of the Temple (although members of the old House Indoril are still over-represented in the priesthood).

Not sure why. Daggerfall is pretty heavily established in the lore as being a city on the Iliac Bay.
>>
>>47425386
ESO puts it out towards the sea, yeah. They shifted up the Glenumbra Moors - which was in that place in Daggerfall - so that it was a bit more to the northeast to make it fit.

It just frustrates me that one of the main things that Daggerfall was good for - showing where all the little kingdoms of High Rock were - is getting trampled over. And also Betony - now Betnikh, which is for some reason Orc land? - is more to the south of High Rock, rather than being in the Illiac Bay.

First character is an Alessian period general who is in our current campaign. I do not know much about him since he is kept in secret by GM.
Second character is one of the players, Viktor. He is a forsworn with nordic heritage, young hunter and pathfinder helping the great Red Eagle on scouting missions and such.
Third is Dovaar the Humble, he is one of the descendants of survivors of the Forelhost Dragon Cult monastery members...and he himself is essentially one of the few surviving Dragon Cultists. His small settlement got destroyed destroyed by Imperial hired thugs and he had to run away to Forelhost. There he spent more than a month living on and off in the temple and got to communicate with Draugr after he fell through to lower levels at one point, but thanks to him being cautious and actually being of the same cult as the Draugr they did not murder fuck him, instead he slowly learned some rites from them and basics of Dovah Zul. Eventually forsworn found him and took him as a slave and now he is a slave warrior under Red Eagle.
Final one is...well, Morihaus.

I just feel like a TES MMO was a meh idea that no one really wanted, and then Zenimax hasn't been too careful about how it's been treating old grognards and the lore in general. Like, they decided Peryite was the daedric prince of natural order because he continually fought against some Oblivion creatures that would otherwise tear reality apart, which...is stupid and not really supported by the rest of the lore. He just uses plagues and keeps people from getting too uppity.

Something about their tone always seems...egh. Especially in those in-character Q&As they do. Sometimes, they don't even answer the question - they just insult the person asking because they made up some fancy title for their character.
>>
>>47427765
Not that I disagree, but that is actually what Peryite originally was. Any connection with him to diseases is from Skyrim. Before that he was always the "Taskmaster" in charge of micromanaging Oblivion.
>>
>>47423258
Always gotta remember that after Daggerfall TES went through a major lore overhaul
>>
>>47427889
Even more after Arena, I'd say.
>>
>>47428052
Arena wasn't particularly lore in the first place.
>>
>>47427871
Micromanaging? Yes. I actually do enjoy the tidbit that ESO gives that dremora churls are often stuck working for Peryite, and they hate it.

But not, as the UESP puts it, "Peryite is in charge of keeping daedrons - chaotic creatia made sentient from the exertion of Daedric or mortal will - from causing damage in Oblivion, mainly through events known as 'realm-rips.' "

>>47427889
I'd honestly say during Daggerfall a lot of major changes took place. It's in Daggerfall that you started getting lore about Numidium, the Blades, the Dark Brotherhood, and some of the other guilds and factions that you'd see in later games. Some bits were even carried into Morrowind, like Barenziah, and in Oblivion we get the Warp in the West book - which is not only telling us what happened to the Illiac Bay, but also gave us our first real evidence of a Dragon Break.
>>
>>47427889
What happened between you and Bethesda
>>
>>47428062
I know, I know.
>>
>>47428067
Oh and also we got most of the Divine pantheon that would be fluffed out further over later games, several great lore books (such as explaining the source of Pelagius' insanity as due to Sheogorath himself), and many artifacts that would be carried over into Morrowind, while others from Arena were dropped.
>>
>>47427765
>they just insult the person asking because they made up some fancy title for their character

It's funny you should mention that. So, Daggerfall, as much as I love it, has tons of issues. And a common problem is that there's a good deal of assets and info in the files that for various reasons never appear in the game. For some (but not all) of the Daedric quests, the devs forgot to make it so that the written text is triggered.
Let me post the most relevant text:

Peryite is the Daedra of Pestilence and Plague.
Peryite is the most affable of the Daedra Princes with the worst reputation.

Azura is one of the Daedric Regents of Oblivion. Her sphere is vanity.
Lady Azura is the Daedra Prince of Vanity and Egotism.

Clavicus Vile is the consummate politician of Oblivion.
You won't find a more carefully neutral Daedric Prince that Clavicus Vile.

The least of the daedra princes. He is their Master of the Hunt.
Hircine is supposed to be the creator of all lycanthropes.

Mehrunes Dagon is the Lord of Destruction, the most violent of the Daedra.
Dagon seems like an ignorant brute, but he is really rather cunning.

Meridia is a Daedra Regent and a collector of human specimens.
Meridia is a kind of acting Daedra Prince, and ruthless in her acquisitiveness.

A regal Daedra Prince, said to be the most power-mad of all daedra.
Molag Bal is said to be obsessed with making Tamriel part of his realm.

Sheogorath is the Daedra Prince of Insanity. Not a good one to count on.
Sheogorath is the Mad One, the Daedra who revels in chaos and lunacy.

Sanguine is the Daedra Prince of Lust. Anything in excess is his motto.
The Daedra Prince of Perversity and Unnatural Sexual Relations, of course.

Vaernima is the Daedra Lady of Corruption and Decay. Not nice to look at.
Vaernima is a Regent of Oblivion, and her sphere is Corruption and Decay.

I know what you're talking about. "Moon Bishop Hunal Answers Your Questions" never fails to rustle me. Even the title sounds like a joke.

>A true cat who listens too much to the Darks becomes a Bent Cat
At least ESO has taught us that the Khajiit hate Darkies.

>When true cats commune with the moons and their spirits climb the Lunar Lattice, then can a Khajiit see the Dead Moon sailing behind Jone and Jode. This moon is the corpse of Lorkhaj.
You can't solve everything by making it another moon.

>After he made the world for Nirni's children to live in, the Darks in the heart of Lorkhaj also made a prison of the world
Fucking Darkies, at it again.

>Skooma is the scourge of our people; its continued usage inevitably leads a Khajiit into the Darks.
>It is true that it can be used to achieve a state of religious ecstasy, but the visions therefrom are all false and heretical.
Where the fuck did this come from?

>However, the extent to which we catfolk vary in size has been exaggerated in certain Imperial sources.
This one is hilarious, since the guy who is asking about Khajiiti breeds isn't using Imperial sources. His sources is a Khajiit in a official dev interview with Goodall.

Skooma is highly addictive even for Khajiit. Moon sugar is used in everyday life in Elsweyr, but Skooma will still fuck you up. A sweet wine with dinner is fine, chugging moonshine will probably kill you.
>>
>>47428242
Mostly in their uniformity, and the general all around lack of imagination that goes into them. I'm not fond of the idea that they form their own societies either.
Battlespire lore also states they apparently have free will, which makes no sense.
>>
>>47428208
That would explain why he seems so pleasant in Daggerfall.

>You can't really have too much power, can you, (player's first name)? You look a lot like someone I used to know -- but that was back during your First Era, so it couldn't very well be you, could it? Now then, if you'd like, I can give you a little shield of mine called the Spell Breaker. It will certainly give you the power you want, but first, I need a little proof of your seriousness.

>Excellent. It's wonderful seeing a (player's race) with clear objectives. So rare in this day and age. Now then, there's this (Vampire Ancient), frankly a vampire, who I know you'd hate. Thoroughly stupid, unattractive, and mean-spirited sort. He needs to go on a one-way trip to you-know-where. Then, after you've taken care of that unpleasant business, go visit my friend, (worshipper's name), a charming (worshipper' description), who will meet you at (building's name) in town. Now, I don't want to rush you, but I can't ask (him/her) to wait more than (time limit) days for you. And it will take you at least (time limit) days to get to (dungeon) (he/she)'ll be happy to show you the Spell Breaker. Now, I've prattled on long enough. It's been a pleasure.

>Changed your mind, eh? Don't feel bad. It's a sign of maturity to be brave enough to say no. Just give me a call when you change your mind. I know you will.

And then at the very end, a cultist tells you:

>There you are, (Brother/Sister). I'm (worshipper's name), I believe the Master wanted you to find me? The Master is very pleased with your work on the dread (Vampire Ancient), if you don't mind me saying so. The Master seems very fond of you in general. Here is the shield you wanted, the Spell Breaker. Spellcasters will come to fear you. I hope it pleases, (Brother/Sister).

Jone and Jode are moons one and two. The Mane is third. Then Hunals's evil moon is apparently a fourth. Next Q&A we'll probably get another.

They're demon appendages of immeasurable spirits from a place that could to be filled with anything. I can't really think of much MK stuff ESO actually deals with, other than maybe some bare-bones acknowledgements.
What I hate the most about it is how it finds whatever means it can to spoil whatever oddity their is in TES lore. It doesn't allow anything to be sacred. 'Remember those ayleids you don't get to see in Oblivion? Here, enter ones mind in the past! Remember that important hallowed Moses figure Veloth mentioned in Morrowind? Here, have a boring useless conversation with him!' There are a shit load of quests that involve going back in time in some manner to the point where the entire fucking idea becomes meaningless. They even explained away the books thing as, 'oh time just goofed or whatever XD'. There's even a quest that has you going to the Far Shores (which is now just Redguard Sovngarde fyi).

Also the world design is boring as fuck, and the very idea of the Alliance war is fucking atrocious.

I can understand it. Things become a lot less awesome when you actually can see the founder of the Mages Guild instead of reading about him.

In essence, it's the flaw all videogames have compared to their lore - the idea of fighting dragons and ripping out their souls to use shouts that temporarily rewire the universe sounds cool, but in Skyrim it's just not fun or interesting - but in this case, since they've gone so far back in time, they're poking at some of the foundations of the setting and trying to force you to like what they give.
