Does the Reverse Engineering shard from Worm work on things that aren't strictly technology? For example, could I use it to help me find out the details as to how exactly a system of magic works in scientific terms or help me analyze the physiology of things like Supernatural demons to understand exactly what goes on when they possess someone?
If so, would it be too much of a stretch to use it to 'reverse engineer' someone's thinking process to let me understand them better?

Unless a jumper buys the perk where everybody tends to believe your accusations, nobody's going to believe a guy who suddenly starts yelling that a dog is an alien anyway. And probably not even then, at least not until it's too late for someone(s).

Really, it's the kind of situation where not having superpowers means you simply won't be able to save everyone, despite knowing what's to come - which rather brings the horror home, in a way. Triage in media res.

On one hand, the average person rarely thinks of crows that way, as what I wrote requires.

On the other, they are fucking annoying shitbirds and can be a serious problem both to farmers and regular people.

You know what, I'm gonna go with yes. It's closer in spirit, even if it skirts the letter of the choice.

I do, but changing an angel form is quite a larger feat, since they are ridiculously huge, and would have different uses. A ramiel mode would make for a better generator and positron beam emmition, a more godzilla esque form would provude higher durability and such.

>>
>>47242205
I...actually don't know. You'd be a robot in a setting ruled by cyborgs. So...eh, barring any stupidity/arrogance on your part, you SHOULD be fine, to won't be easy, but it shouldn't be Dune levels of hard. Then again, I'm not exactly that familiar with the setting, so I'm just going to take a guess and say somewhere in the middle.
>>
>>47242181
>Lord of Beavers
I would love dominion over beavers!
>>
>>47242205
Really, it depends on what you do in it. Take the Last Order Drawback and you're in for the long haul. You'll have to endure the entire story line of the Last Order timeline and beyond, all the way until Alita makes it to Mars and finally settles her many issues.

Strike out into the desert and you're in for ten years of Dune-esk survival training, with powerful cyborg desert pirates raiding scattered pockets of mostly human life clinging to the few patches of water that survive on Earth. Mutants will be a constant problem out there.

Stay in the Scrapyard and you'll find yourself at the mercy of the worst city life could possibly offer. The food is horrible and there's a good chance you'll find yourself shanked and robbed of vital organs. Already a cyborg? You've got more options, but you can still be shanked and robbed of parts pretty easily if you're not on guard. At least as a cyborg/robot you have the option of taking several of the more dangerous, but much more lucrative, jobs available. Perform well in any of the Motorball or Ultimate Cyborg Combat rings and you'll live pretty well. Otherwise... good luck.

Heading up into Space isn't an easy thing to do unless you start there. Even then, Mercury has gone all Grey Goo Scenario, Mars is constantly at war, and Venus is doing thing with Bio-tech that would turn the strongest stomachs. I'm not sure about the other planets honestly, but Saturn's moons seem pretty okay if you don't mind being a miner for your whole life.
>>
>>47242138
I think that is fine. Maybe it's just my white western upbringing, but everyone I know gives wolves/foxes shit, while thinking lions are super cool kings of the jungle nevermind the fact that they're all lazy shits.

>>47242205
People are relatively close to normal human during the start. Just don't take the drawbacks that extend your stay and don't go to space and it should be dangerous, but perfectly survivable.
>>
>>47242105
Give it a nest, or you'll egret this.
You're cuckoo if you think you can beak me. I'll flock you till you're black and bluejays, then send you flying back to mama hen for tweatment.

You're a lucky duck though, I'm not in the mood for murder.

>>47242103
I would, but I'm getting rather inebriated.
I think I'll call it night. See you tomorrow, /jc/.
>>
>>47242272
>>47242341
>>47242350
Second question.

Is it a good idea at all to grab this Desty guy as a Companion? All I know about him is he's a nutty but seriously skilled scientist who really likes flan.
>>
>>47242217
I'll take rats over seagulls any day.

>>47242350
I thought wolves were supposed to be seen as Noble or something? I get foxes and coyotes, definitely, but wolves always seemed to be, I dunno, "cooler".
>>
>>47242385
Flock you up*
Don't drink and post, everyone.

Unless you're into that kind of thing.
>>
>>47242403
Desty is pretty much amoral, but he's more interested in pushing the bounds of technology than anything. He could be a villain or he could be an ally, depending on which clone it is and where in the timeline you pick him up.
>>
>>47242403
Sure, if the idea of him replacing your heart and putting it in a death robot while you're asleep for giggles sounds fun. Or him secretly taking out your brain and putting a brain bio-chip in instead, just so he could put the brain in front of you and watch your world crash around you with your sanity.

He's nutty and skilled, but he's seriously fucked up.
>>
>>47242420
Wolves were considered noble in some mythologies and are currently treated as such in our culture, but even less than a century ago, wolves were seen as worthless livestock killers.
>>

80KB, 436x564px
>>47242403
Destiny Nova is legit bonkers. Totally out to lunch fruit loops and milk. That said, he is the ONLY scientist in the setting with a understand, and eventual mastery, of Karma based science. This makes it possible for him to perform all kinds of insane, nearly magical feats. Everything from injecting regenerating nanomachines that will let you survive losing a good chunk of your brain, to resurrecting the dead, to even creating the ultimate in shape-shifting cyborg bodies and materials.

Then again... >>47242451 is so right it's not even funny.

Pic related, it is probably the tamest experiment he had in his lab near the beginning of the manga. Everything else was nightmare fuel carved from an insane asylum that had been infected by the Warp.
>>
>>47242056
Is Bel Man supposed to be SMT, or was Devil Survivor on the queue?
>>
>>47242420
They did kill a lot of livestock for quite a while, so people had some pretty negative views on them back in the day. Some still do.
>>
>>47242403
Also, as a side note, he is directly responsible for killing all but a tiny fraction of Tiphareas' population when he revealed the "secret" of the floating city. Knowing full well revealing the secret would do exactly that.
>>
>>47242487
Supposed to be SMT.

Which I may have gotten mixed up with DS.

>>47242480
>>47242451
>>47242444
>>47242541

Right. Companions with no sense of right and wrong are something of a no-go.
>>
>>47242558
>Right. Companions with no sense of right and wrong are something of a no-go.
Oh no, he knows exactly what's "right" and "wrong". He just doesn't give a shit and fancies himself as a scientist who wants to push those concepts to their most illogical extremes.

Mostly by doing horrible shit like poisoning children and hosting death games for the cure. Or taking a person with psychometry and forcing his hand into still-living people's brains to both kill them and make him feel their memories and death. Going down a row like an assembly line of sadism and giggles.

He knows exactly where the line is. He's just fascinated and wants to see if he can mess with it.
>>
>>47242460
>>47242496
Makes sense. I live in an area where coyotes are a huge fucking problem but wolves are really rare, so I guess my perspective is just skewed.
>>
>>47242558
>Mixed up with DS
Okay, quick run through of both, so you're prepared:
SMT: The war between Law and Chaos has finally erupted, and the Apocalypse has begun. Even before the world ends, demons and zombies run amock as American soldiers and the Japanese military, which has launched a coup led by General Gotou, battle in the streets. Both sides are evil, as the Americans, led by Thorman/Thor, want to start a nuclear war in order to build God's Thousand Year Kingdom, and the General wants to summon Lucifer. Both succeed, despite our heroes' best efforts, and the world ends. Post nuclear war, the Chaotic Gaians and the Lawful Messians are at war, while the forces of Law build a massive Basilica which will serve as God's throne. Angels and Demons battle for supremacy, and by the end God floods everything, killing anyone not in the Basilica. Here, the final showdown between the forces of Law, led by the Archangel Michael and his cohorts, and Chaos, led by Asura, takes place. Canonically, the Hero kills both, which leads to a brief time of peace before the Messians take over again after the Hero dies in a landslide. Cue the SMT 2, under the despotic Center. God himself shows up as the final boss, planning with Satan to destroy the world, while Lucifer seeks to stop him at all costs. You almost certainly won't take part in this, even with the time extension, so I wouldn't worry about it.
(cont)
>>
>>47242558
>>47242699
Oh, forgot to mention, a brilliant scientist named Steven created the Demon Summoning Program to give humanity a fighting chance against the demons after his teleportation system, the Terminals, accidentally summoned a demon, who he only barely killed at the cost of being crippled. Speaking of, he fixed the Terminal system, and you use it to get around. As for DS, the jump itself actually gives a pretty good summary, but an addendum is that beside Remiel, the angels are arrogant dicks, and even Remiel can be a bit snooty from time to time. Still has humanity's back, enough to apparently refuse to destroy the Earth using God's Thunder in the Overlord path despite being humiliated and disgraced by Abel's decision, given that Metatron is forced to come to Earth and summon the Archangels after being beaten. Also, the super weapon the JSDF has is one that activates all electronics in the city of Tokyo so that all living beings will be boiled alive by the microwaves or something. Imagine a cat in a microwave.
>>
>>47241632
I initially misread that as "cows," and suddenly I want to see a vermin lord of cows.

Wait a second, shouldn't Lovecraft have gotten this reaction, or was the horror too subtle?
>>
>>47243659
I guess the difference is, plenty of people can live normal lives in Lovecraft. The Cosmos is horrifying, but it's also uncaring. In Siren the jump dumps you right into all that bullshit and it very much wants to kill you.
>>
>>47243659
A bit too subtle, yeah. He doesn't really "get" the whole "the truth of existence is that mankind means nothing and all life is futile before the Old Ones" business.

Not exactly the sort of thing that runs through a kid's mind.

Zombies on the other hand? That gets 'em right where it needs to. They're scary, they're everywhere, and they're coming for you.

Ah, makes sense. FEAR and Soul Eater are going to absolutely wreck this kid, aren't they? I say Soul Eater because unlike Lovecraft the Big Bad is a Great Old One that warps reality itself with his Madness Wavelength. Also, the Clowns. Holy shit the Clowns.
>>
>>47243578
>THIS IS MY ORIGINAL CHARACTER!
>DO! NOT! STEAL!
>>
>>47243732
Shit, forgot to mention that the difference is that he's active.
>>
>>47243732
Even before that, Soul Eater's not going to make any SENSE.

"How is everyone else not completely dead or worse by now?" or something like that.

There's also the question of whether his Undertale background means that his consciousness is now ultimately housed in a SOUL rather than his IC Chip, and what that means for future Jumps in general.
>>
>>47243783
Good point. Seriously, you'd think the world would be in a much worse state considering Kishin eggs are rampaging everywhere. Also, the Sun and Moon are going to screw with him, plus given the effect Madness wavelengths have on electronics...Huh, I hadn't thought of that. That'll make him a lot more vulnerable.
>>
>>47243832
Worth noting the kishin egg terminology is an anime only thing. In the manga they're just evil people Shinigami has deemed acceptable to hunt down and kill for their souls.
>>
>>47241455
Doubtful that it would work like that.
>>
>>47243872
Huh, really? Well, that DOES decrease the threat level a bit.
>>
>>47241455
It's specifically technology and the working of such systems. If you have the knowledge then "magitech" might be viable but it's not just some magical ability to examine and understand all the processes of whatever you look at. Especially stuff like a person's thought processes. Shards are toolkits designed for a specific purpose, not some sort of conceptual system where you can manage whatever you can shoehorn under the umbrella of the terms used. If you have to put quote marks around "reverse engineer" then you're stretching.

If it's anything like the Hex, he... COULD be fine.

If it's not but has the same end result as the Hex, it'll end badly.

Actually, the end of this run is likely coming soon. Out of the remaining Jumps on the roll chart, only Portal and Narnia aren't nightmare rollercoasters or outright death traps for this poor boy.

And to think he'd fallen in love, too!

But seriously, Robot as a subset of Ghost leaves a lot of questions about what Folke needs more to remain 'alive.'
>>
>>47243944
>Anything like the Hex
Erm...not quite. Madness basically warps reality just by existing, to the point where Kishin Asura, by simply napping on the Moon, pretty much made the Earth into a nightmare world, with natural disasters, ancient evils, and the like running amok. Basically? Imagine a crazy person making their vision of the world a reality. And electronics are affected, corrupted by this Madness Wavelength. By the end of the series, the Madness Length of Kishin Asura, the Great Old One of Fear, has covered the entire planet, so there's no running. You might be able to resist it with certain perks, but even then Folke will be in major trouble.
>>
>>47244170
Welp.
>>
>>47244199
Listen, if you want to survive, grab the Anti-Demon Wavelength and Strong Soul perks. The former is built for resisting and fighting creatures of Madness, while the latter boosts it. There's another with the Wavelength, Maka, together the two of you might be able to resist the Madness' corrupting assault on your body. Also, beware of Medusa: she's the one trying to revive Asura, and the most dangerous character besides him and Noah, not because of her power(though she's no slouch), but because of her intelligence and how hard it is to get her to stay dead. Even a sliver of her soul can possess and transform a child's body into a smaller version of her own, and she'll only get stronger once she grabs her sister Arachne's body. Also, Crona. Medusa's son/daughter, and a potential Kishin. If you can help Maka help him/her, and keep Medusa away, you'll not only gain a powerful ally, you'll shatter Medusa's ultimate plan, and save an entire city.

That's the anime, in the manga it's a powerful ward against Madness. It still does fuck all against Asura, but that's less because it doesn't work and more because Asura is incredibly buff in this version, to the point where he takes on Great Old One Death the Kid and Black Star and is, depending on which part of the fight, either holding his own or outright smacking them around. And this is AFTER the three year time skip and several more upgrades since then. Seriously, Manga Asura, who you will be fighting, is no joke.

Just remember to bring EVERYTHING you have to the fight, as he reacts to someone bursting out of his chest with amusement rather than real pain, and is laughing his ass off when he's sealed, telling Crona, the cast, and the audience that he'll be back one day. "So you got rid of corporal terror by discarding the flesh, intellectual dread by using Brew!! And you overcame the mental fear by trusting others and depending on it?! But such feeble support will break easily!! It will be all over when it breaks and the madness will take over again. Goodbye till then! Stay fearful with me until that time."

I'm not sure. Shinigami skinning him alive and sealing him in his own sack of skin held him down, but the again that was a fellow Great Old One, and his dad, and even then his resting place had a crap ton of seals around him, plus Shinigami himself using his soul to keep him down. So it'll put him down, but not for long most likely, and he'll be PISSED once he gets back on his feet. And trust me, you do NOT want to face a Great Old One that's going all out.

If the author of the SMT jump is here, the Notes on Dormant Power says that you get a level cap of 99. What does that mean? Are you forever barred from gaining power beyond what a Lvl 99 PC in the games would be capable of? Does this nerf any pre and post jump powers you may possess/gain into the ground?
>>
>>47244776
I'm pretty sure it just lets you gain the power of a 99th level pc, but you can't advance those abilities beyond that.
>>
Is there anothing stopping me from taking the Small Army from Skullgirls, and giving each member a Stand, Cauldron Vial, etc, etc.
>>
>>47244776
It's just the cap for your SMT abilities, though technically you can go beyond that with other combos or perks. Think of it kind of like Overlord's Level 100 perk, it allows you to reach/gain that level of power.
>>
Out of curiosity, do you think Mantles from the Dresden Files could be used with Dark/Demon Souls crafting perks? They seem to function very similarly to Lors Souls.

I wonder what weapon/spell you could get from Santa?
>>
>>47244865
A Candy Cane with the power to make children cry.
>>
>>47244823
I guess not. You'd have to do it manually though; scratch everyone with the Arrowhead individually, give each soldier a Cauldron potion, etc,.
>>
>>47244776
>>47244821
It mentions being able to slaughter deities with naught but mortal skill and strength. It then goes on to talk about the cost of such power, saying that you gain a maximum level cap of 99 that is reduced for each perk that you empower with Dormant Power.

It makes it sound like you are gaining the power to fight vastly powerful entities at the cost of not being able to obtain strength of your own.
>>
>>47244878
The arrowhead won't even be a sure thing as well since it might kills off some or alot of members if they don't have enough fighting spirit I believe the term is.
>>
>>47244776
It means you can reach the level of logic-defying "skill" the PCs do.

No.

No.

I think you could avoid accidental deaths through judicious use of precog powers, but in the end, these guys are Companions.

>>
>>47244953

Soul Man very much not as bad at the others, but leaning toward the "die" side with Ghost Woman, Imperium Man, and Bel Man.

He's either dead or waiting for a more opportune moment to return, but he won't come back during your stay unless you've basically already won. Do remember that perma-death isn't quite a thing for him.

He'll want you on his side. Like, immediate recruitment the moment he is aware of your existence. He's not going to bend over for it, but you'll be exactly the type of demon to make a difference. For Herald, he'll want you on Chaos on principle. If you're just neutral he (probably) won't try to kill you, seeing as he didn't step in to mess with the Protagonist, but he's not going to skip through a field of flowers with you and he's not going to tell Astaroth and company to sandbag.

Maybe try a random word generator, and base the power on it?
That's what the CYOA General Worm CYOA did, when it wasn't busy desperately trying to be Jumpchain.

Or base the power around the personality of the user. Or pretty much any other creative process.

Don't forget to go super creative with this shit either; Worm powers can do nearly anything, and a girl with the power to control arthropods was ability to take over an entire city. It's all about how you use it.

If you're not feeling creative you could always try sifting through the Worm wiki or even fanfic to find something.
I remember one fanfic were somebody got the ability to sorta stop time for themselves and go through walls and fly slowly, but only as long as they held their breath.

Once upon a time, an elf fucked a kobold.
The end.

Actually, I like NWN2 better, even the incredibly hackneyed first campaign, but I don't actually like Faerun enough as a setting that I'd enjoy them as a person, nor is there anything from those campaigns I really care to get (I mean, I can't exactly steal all the King of Shadows' powers). So really any plot is as good as any other.

Anyway, I'll just spend my time mapping Undermountain and looting it and studying magic. I got twenty years. Shouldn't be too hard.
... especially considering I can straight up walk through walls, move walls around, and otherwise just make dungeon crawling a complete joke.

Fell through the floor, broke a drow's arms and legs.
I'd actually be interested in knowing how this whole "warehouse key" business works, considering I use portals?

Now where the fuck are my pants.

Deekin said I had pretty scales and then shuffled around awkwardly for a bit.
I just stared at him until he went away.

Reposting my question. Keeping missing Worm_Anon...

Anyway, from EVO does Personal Analysis only work with a biological body, or does it also work for me if I'm a robot or for my cybernetics? Also, if I'm technorganic, could I evolve tech stuff with the other options in the jump?

S&S with the Eye of Set, I'm unsure if it's supposed to help when using it as a component in a ritual, or if it works with both that and normal spellcasting. I'm guessing both? And would the Weight Upon The Brow start changing relatively quickly if you take the jump late since you'd be pretty impressive already, or would it go really slow since you need to be more glorious, charismatic, and strong compared to the point you were at when you take the jump?

Sherlock Holmes, if you import a weapon into The Cane, is it indestructable in weapon form as well?

And finally, Worm's Alexandria Package, what does its Manton Effect protect against outside of the jump? Does it help with magic, psionics, reality warping, or conceptual shit being thrown at you, or just physical/'deterministic' superpower stuff? Also, does the Shard Power growing with time/use thing mean I just start getting stronger, tougher, faster, and smarter all the time?

Big tittied police girl from hellsing.

>>
>>47248835
Let's put it this way. One of the major antagonists is described in RPG terms as having the four generic commands, Fight, Defend, Magic, Item, in addition to another one unique to himself, Win. Literally, he can just win against someone just like that because his power adjusts to his enemy so that he can defeat them with the exact necessary amount of power, no more and no less. He's not even limited by just one person being his enemy, since he essentially started WW3 to make the entire world his enemy. This guy is not even close to the toppest tier villains, with one of them being someone who destroyed all of reality and then reshaped it to her liking hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions of times, with seemingly no effort.

If you want to get involved in the plot, you're almost certainly going to die.

Well reverse-Imagine Breaker. Imagine Breaker forces things to become real, breaking the changes to physics involved in magic or esper powers. World Rejector forces things to become unreal, essentially erasing them from existence. Though in practice, since it can do that to magic, too, it's less reverse-IB and more IB+. Especially since it has ranged capability and can be suppressed if Kamisato doesn't want to use it. He's kind of super broken, which is saying something in a series already full of super broken characters.
>>
>>47249554
Oh wow, that power is technically just reversed IB, the setting is survivable with Real Eater!
>>
>>47249584
Stop forgetting Real Eater can't make things more powerful than they are baka faggot anon
>>
>>47249597
It doesn't have to! The setting explicitly states that they are equally powerful, it is just that the other one can be used in more broken ways. When I said that it was a reversed IB I meant it literally, it is literally equal and opposite to Imagine Breaker.
>>
>>47249486

>How do you escape that setting alive? Did they just hide in their warehouses for ten years?

I think I remember Reploid ruling that the whole reality being rewritten thing doesn't count as dying as long as their not intentionally trying to kill you, and as long as it gets turned back to normal.

>>47249529

However with this the only thing I can thing of is getting the Media Collection, hoping it has not yet released stuff as well, having a lot of diplomacy perks, and hoping you can convince Crowley that your more useful not dying horribly.

Which is probably unlikely since the other mandatory drawback is bad luck.
>>
>>47249584
>>47249597

Besides, woulnt imagine breaker be inmune to other powers?

Besides, IB forces normal reality. Woulnt inverting it just turn everyhting around it into warp fuckery?
>>
>>47249619
You'd think, but no, World Rejector can overpower Imagine Breaker. Like I said, it's pretty OP.
>>
Speaking of the Witcher, the jump we have for it doesn't seem very clear or well structured. What's worth doing there anyway? Can the Witcher creating process even be rediscovered?

>>47249627

>>
>>47249651

>>
You know, now i think about it...

IB caan actually protect you from curses and some spells, on basis that its glued to you. and apparently, still lets you use your powers.

On the Xmen CU jump, an Omega level teleporter can telefrag, and doesnt need physical contact to teleport stuff.

Would it be possible to just start telefragging granades on people'sheads and hide behing IB for when the post-death curses start flying around?
>>
I want to hear what cool things people want to do with their other Esper powers desu, not imagine breaker.
>>
>>47249613
In that case, you've activated trap card #2: Namely that Real Eater can't change the source of things.

>>47249627
And you're not being logically coherent-either it's equal to IB and can't overpower it or it's stronger so it can. Stop trying to have your cake and eat it.
>>
>>47249688
He's basically making a distinction between what we see and what the series says. We see it beating the shit out of IB, but the writer INSISTS they're equal.
>>
>>47249627
But if it can overpower imagine breaker, then they are not equal opposites...

Besides, the most broken superpower is a terrible measure Anon...

>>
>>47249554
>>47249627
That isn't exactly how WR works, it functions by exiling a target to a different timeline and it doesn't need to affect IB directly to send it away. WR is a lot more broken in it's applications but it and IB are literally and conceptually equal and opposite of each other.

>>47249688
They are the embodiment of the two biggest desires of magicians, the power to change the world and the power to reset it. They both have the same source and again WR doesn't need to overpower IB.

They never go against each other! Understand that RW does fuck all to anything it "erases". Things "erased" by RW are not erased or even harmed in any way, the power works by messing with time lines to exile it's target to a different one. It doesn't have the range issue of IB because it doesn't affect what it is "negating" it affects time!

If anyone is worried about being hit by this power don't be, those exiled are said to be alive. It may actually be a good way to escape the danger of the setting.

Qualitative means the quality of the thing not the qualities that it has.

They are equal in magnitude (quantity) but RW is Qualitatively better due to it's function having many more broken implications making it of higher Quality.

RW "beat" IB because It had not need to over power it, the two powers function differently and RW had no need to do anything to IB in order to get rid of it. Keep in mind that RW does literally fuckall to what it "erases", it just fucks with time so that the thing just stops being there.

Not in regards to qualitative research and statistics it doesn't. When you compare qualitative vs quantitative you're comparing the various qualities, color, shape, aspect, vs quantities, cost, weight, height.

The quality of a thing could be a part of a qualitative analysis I guess, but quality is not itself qualitative.

Well despite all the anons here thinking IB needs contact that isn't really true, IB actually can't touch supernatural things. This is what allows Touma to grab things that are too powerful for IB to negate right away, there is something between his hand and the horrible thing that would kill him if he actually touched it. It has also been noted several times in the series that IB does in fact extend beyond his right hand.

He hasn't been around for long, it's hard to say. On the one hand, SCPs are bullshit. On the other hand, he took down a bunch of people which individually are much, much more broken (as in, had to nerf themselves to interact with reality without breaking it) than Agitation Field. Then again Crowley had depowered them even more using a reverse engineered spell at the time. I actually don't know about this one.

The only part of his power that works on anything similar to "plot manipulation" is his apparently canon harem protagonist power, people just talked about what World Rejector's powered by in this very thread. If it did anything to him, he'd thank you for preventing what he sees as more girls being brainwashed into loving him for no reason.

I don't know why you're so fixated on lolnoping Index's bullshit characters with one or two perks
>>
So outside of SMT, can Guardians take on their Divine Dragon form at-will? If not, how bad do things have to be for that to happen?

Honestly, given Touma's track record with villains? My money's on him being Accelerator 2.0 now that Accelerator's dropped out of the top powerlevel rankings. Last I heard he was going to have a friendly duel with Touma of some sort. Their respective harems showed up to cheer them on. And Kamisato (doom hand guy) is just screaming internally because even he knows his own harem is shit.

So basically-he's the Beerus of Index.

Personal analysis would work with a robot body. Technoorganic matter be a possibility as long as it's not evolutionaraly "sterile". As long as it's complex enough that mutations and the continuing processes can cause at least minor change overtime then it can "evolve". Normal tech and robotic bodies wouldn't apply since they don't really have to capacity for it.

The Eye of set works in both. Rituals, normal spellcasting, etc. Weight Upon the Brow would change quickly to sort of "catch up" to your present legacy as a jumper. It's not instant, but it basically puts it on fast forward to try and get up to date.

Yes to the cane import, the weapon would be indestructible.

It stops things like pyrokinetics burning you from the inside out, telekinetics popping your brain or arteries, etc. If it reaches past the outer boundaries of your body to try and kill or injure you, the shard battens down the hatches and prevents it. This isn't absolute or invincible, but even with really bullshit abilities you should be better off than you would have otherwise been. Assuming you're not just outclassed by ridiculous orders of magnitude. If you're fucked your fucked.

Power growth would make you stronger, tougher, faster, and smarter. Do note that since it's increasing all those varied parameters though that on top of shard growth not being fast at all in the first place you're going to be seeing very slight increases. The power is slowly upping multiple different aspects, and ones that are constant and permanent passive effects on top of that. So the growth is slow, if still there.

Also note that power growth is additive, not compounding. The shard is basically always adding a +X at particular intervals, and that doesn't increase to +Y just because it's a higher base.

Oh and the Spoiler is what "Jump-chan" looks like to me, the relationship however.

You know those stories of non-humans (especially of the Supernatural sort) helping humans? And how they tend to go overboard?

My regret was that I never really lived a full life, that I felt like I was stuck some place not living up to what I thought was my full potential. "Jump-chan" heard it, and wants to help.

Does the Eye of Set substitute for XP costs when used as the component in D&D magic? How about D&D enchanting?
>>
>>47250542
Awesome, thanks.
>>
>>47250567
It's a magnifier, not a substitute. Fluff-wise XP costs are fueling really potent spells with your life force or the equivalent. The eye of set doesn't change the cost going in, it just magnifies the end result. So you basically get a ten times as powerful wish spell for example, without having to pay ten times the XP. If used in enchanting this might let you make stronger items while only footing the bill for the normal level spells and such. Depends on your jumpers skills I guess.

>>
>>47250609
Ah, got it. I guess I figured it'd treat them like spell components and the like, but your approach makes sense.

Another related question - how would it handle a spell that can't really be made "more powerful" like True Resurrection? Would it spread out and let you affect more dead people, or just be limited to the scope of what you wanted to do?

I guess True Resurrection isn't a good example, because you could up it to 100 years dead per level, or resurrect people who died of old age, or something like that. But you know what I mean, right?
>>
>>47250834
It could effect more people, amp the power of the spell to bring back those that would be beyond reach of the base spell, or maybe the added power just lets you turn it from a several minute casting time to a snap your fingers and done bit. It's something that requires fanwanking and depends on how the jumper is using the eye of set for that particular casting.

>>
>>47250905
Depends on availiable energy and the maturity of the shard. In theory only the amount of fuel you have matters, and if you can get it at a rate that outpaces the increasing cost of maintaining your form.

As for the last bit that depends on your creativity, experimentation, other capabilities, and practice. Shards are toolkits, learning to use those tools creatively is perfectly in line with the spirit of both Worm and jumpchain.

quick question soft physics says it works by enlarging quantum weirdness, could you learn to enlarge other times of quantum weirdness like superposition, Superfluidity or turning your particles into waves etc.
>>
>>47250989
No, it lets you bend physics to make how things interact sort of soft and vague. Letting you be squished without actually being harmed, etc. It doesn't let you scale up to quantum superpowers.
>>
>>47250188
Poetic exaggeration. It's closer to the speed of sound than a third of the speed of light.

>>47250263

Correct. Note that there's a fair bit of leeway in that. If you could do things all Illuminati-like to get rid of someone to save the planet but it would result in unnecesary bloodshed of others, and you legitimately considered that unacceptable, then you could just dragon-out and kill whoever you were trying to get rid of yourself.

Heyya Worm_Anon, got a small question about playing as Taylor's Shard.

Could I actually create a 'Trump Package' if you will, focused around a theme that will be her powers?

My current idea is that I give her a choice of three archetypes she can follow, each with its own focus and speciality.

They are:
- The Warrior (Your beat 'em up package, with access to gourmet cells and DMC styles)
- The Emperor (Your uber social package with full access to Conqueror's Haki and King's Routines)
- The Builder (The inventor option with access to Technopathy and Quicksilver Style)

Next question is, how much strain does Taylor's body feel when she uses my powers? Could I mitigate some of that strain? and what about independent use of abilities? Does she feel that strain as well?
>>
>>47251154
You control what powers she has access to. I don't see why you couldn't group them together into presets instead of doing them one by one.

It simply gets better at doing what it already does. It's not some kind of conceptual genre effect, the effects it's capable of are just similar to what we typically think of as cartoon physics.

>>47251154
Yes you could, as the power manager you decide what powers she has access to, to what extent, and how she can do so. You want to partition them up into discrete packages that she has to swap between, more than doable.

Taylor experiences the same strain you would if you were using them. Unless for some reason you give her abilties that would strain her body while withholding the qualities needed to handle it. Don't give her super strength while denying the durability necessary to use it without ripping her arms off and its not a problem.

In short don't be a dick.

>>47251261

The most Taylor has to fear is the odd prank...like fun with telekinesis.

Since the world is a few days away from a nuclear launch that leads to global armageddon, could the Guardian just go dragon right away? Take out Gotou, take out Thor, use the fate prediction stuff you get to hunt down other Law agents.

Actually, would Guardian even be strong enough to have a shot at that? How powerful are the 1000CP demons in terms of level/compared to the major threats in this jump? Thinking about it, I'd assume doing the above is going to aggro YHVH and fuck you.

Oh, and is Guardian physically on par with a human when not dragonforming? Like, would you have to worry about getting one-shotted by a random goblin or pixie or something?

If no one aked before: What happens if Thanatos kills Manton? does he improves based on the Siberian or gains his own proyection?

Also, to clarify: Thanatos is a puppet that analizes that/those which it kills to improve in itself, being killing an endbringer is more likely than to give it a 'multiuniversal cristal' body rather than Levi's hydrokinetics. And, in the case of tinkers, since the intelligence/blueplrints come from a shard, gain a rank or two bellow of said especialization right?

>>
>>47251361
It would depend. Personally I'd say it integrates some aspects of the siberian projection to improve itself, though it getting it's own strange projection ability is also possible. Thanatos is pretty open in HOW it improves. Just note that it's not necessarily one to one copying of stuff. It's operating off of a paradigm of dissecting things for useful qualities and then adapting those qualities to improve itself in some manner. Those improvements can actually seem pretty different in how they manifest. Sort of like a second trigger, related but not the exact same.

It depends on the exact circumstances. He might upgrade itself based on endbringer physiology, just go the easy route and scan it's abilities and duplicate them in some form, etc.

Granted, if you managed to get it to kill an endbringer that would be one insane upgrade. The change would definitely be great enough that it might as well be a whole new projection.

Good luck pulling it off.
>>
>>47251330
Yes.

All of the 1000 CP races are about equivalent to the Level 80-90 bosses in the game, so the big two and their highest generals are the only people stronger than you.

Pretty much. Guardian is by default its own side, so unless you get something to let you fanwank yourself as being Law or Chaos, both sides will want you dead for fucking up their plans.

No. Both forms are equal unless stated otherwise. It's just that one is a regular dude/gal, while the other is a giant hypersonic dragon with weather control powers.
>>
>>47251361
>>47251385
Auto correct.

Thanatos analizes whatever it kills to improve itself. But it's main focus in the body itself rather than gimmicks/powers. therefore, it has a higher probability to copy an endbringer's cristal body than whatever power they have?
>>
>>47251261
Can we communicate with her directly, or is it more of a Shard's influence the way a normal Shard influences people into conflict?

Can we take over her if she lets us?

If we get a Shard-based power, does the impulse towards conflict still affect her, or does it affect us and therefore affects her indirectly?
>>
>>47251485

>>
>>47251473
Thanatos is a combat projection. It would examine things and weigh them based on net benefit. It could focus on one or the other, or it could balance between them, or anywhere along that spectrum. It'd be something that fits you and your method of using the projection though. Depends on the person using Thanatos.

>>47251485
You can communiate directly, or be all shard about it.

You can if she lets you, though she always has final say.

You're the shard. There is no push towards conflict in the back of your head beyond how your own personality and such might influence her due to your connection, and thats just a natural consequence of that kind of bond.

He basically wanted humanity to build their own future without the taint of demons or God. He's... well, weak, so he just guides/manipulates the Protagonist towards Neutrality.

>>47251669
He's going to use Plum Juggler's Requiem ability to make copies of certain key Parahumans, which he then feeds to Thanatos until it assimilates the correct ability in the correct manner. Once he has the powers he needs for it to not be destroyed by an Endbringer in close quarters, and also be capable of bypassing their durability, he intends to have it kill them in order to get their powers.

Wanky as fuck, but frankly, I'm leaning towards it working because fuck that inconsistent galaxy-level durability crap with the Endbringers any dumb plan that makes light of them is a plan I approve of.
>>
>>47251604
Either that power or just same as flechete. Sting is basically a weapon entities use to defentd themselves, whatever i get, it will work.

First: Can a several ton hole in reality teleport? Not the first three that's for sure.

Second: by that point i or Thani would be able to teleport.

Third: By their connection i guess i would have only one chance before the remaining decide to just balst me before i get close. So it's not really an exploit.

Endbringers aren't raid bosses, they're pretty much constantly in motion and will actually counter or dodge attacks instead of just tanking everything, especially if that something has an actual chance to harm them. Finally work on your grammar, as is you sound like a moron who can't string basic sentences together.

There are ways to kill them, they just aren't as simple as two whole powers used together.

Hence my line of questions. But would a Pagan God be able to hear prayers?
>>
>>47251729

Hey, so that Trials of Masakado drawback. How bad a test of willpower are we talking here? And how long can you put off doing those trials? Could you like wait until the last year of the jump or something?
>>
>>47251965
>>47252009
Maybe they could, but that'd be up to wank.
Pagan gods aren't defined, there's a lot of variation amongst them.
>>
>>47251985
From what I hear in these threads, that's a good thing...
>>
>>47252035
Just stop around season 5 or 6 and you're good.

Oh, and for Paganon, here's this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vc9r7yOQXp4
>>
>>47252035
Watch seasons 1-5 and you're good. There are a few episodes in the seasons after that that are good for a laugh, but the seasons themselves aren't great. Only watch if you're really into it or you need distraction viewing.
>>
>>47252028
Zouchouten is the weakest and you'll "just" need high-level actual real life person willpower. Bishamonten is the strongest and you'll need high-level shounen protagonist willpower. The other two fall somewhere between these two. Don't forget that willpower perks are offline for the battles.

As long as you want to. Yes. You'll have to find them yourself if you pass your fate-ordained chance at fighting them, which can be... problematic, to say the least, seeing as they all die during the course of the story.

Worm isn't my first jump Anon.

If I couldnt keep up I wouldn't try in the first place.

My biggest Physical boost so far is [PROTOTYPE] and that is equal to a well off brute-mover package. And good enough to stay within four blocks of the Leviathan adn survive most it can throw while he thinks im just another cape.

I remember when angels weren't throw away characters. Also, Lucifer isn't a good metric for angel power. He's number 2 in the setting after God.

Supernatural ended last season, I don't care what anyone else says. Lalalalalalalalala, I'm not listening

X-Men Movies. Omega Healing Factor lets you give anyone a permanent Beta level healing factor via blood transfusion. And you'll essentially have unlimited blood at that point.
>>
>>47252312
Does the X-Men Movies jump feel like a power grab to anyone else?
>>
>>47252293
My favorite combo is Jumper Empress of Demon Eyes (Mushoku Tensei) plus Makeover Montage (Career Model) plus the Rinnegan (Naruto). Use the Rinnegan to cast a huge wide-area illusion bounced off the moon. Makeover Montage lets you use cosmetic changes in place of actual empowerment effects. Jumper Empress of Demon Eyes lets you impart any eyes you have to other people with a quick impromptu surgery. So use the illusion to give everyone the Rinnegan, suddenly you've got an entire species of demigods.
>>
>>47252339
It feels representative of the setting, which is rife with power wanking.

Also, please don't start shit. Nothing good comes of that accusation. The jump is done and on the drive. Move on.

Funny, that's not how I spell Libromancer. Maybe you're using some kind of shorthand?
>>
>>47252339
Yes.

I suppose that's natural when you seem to be getting comic book level shit for a setting where the actual power level is not anything close to that high. That and you can get 2 omega powers without even hitting serious drawbacks.

At least there's some variation between people's builds but it is pretty damn powergrabby.
>>
At least we're in autosage.
>>
>>47252339
Think it's bad now, wait until the jumpmaker has to update it for Age of Apocalypse.
>>
>>47252339
They are comic book level of bullshit....so yeah thats how you are supposed to feel like.
>>
>>47252424
It's already got Apocalypses power in there at the Omega level. That's pretty much all you need right there.
>>
>>47252339
Honestly, if I could do it over again, I'd tone down some of the options and probably make some a little more expensive. But I know trying to do that now would just start more shit than it's worth, so I just hope I properly balanced the powers against each other, at least.
>>
>>47252424
>has to update
I'm not sure you know how that works. . .
>>
>>47252339
Meh.

It's an easy way of building up to high street/low city level stuff without dealing with much danger while remaining within the bounds of a superhero arc, which means I can actually buy the stuff I want in Marvel/DC instead of powerwanking as hard as I can on technicalities.
>>
>>47252441
Meh, the only thing I'd want would be Psylocks powers. I've loved that psi knife and sword since forever.
>>
>>47252339
A lot of superhero jumps end up feeling that way because most of the time jumpmakers just focus on the abilities instead of the themes or setting. It's a fine line. Now if you want full on power grab look at the stuff like Unholy Heights or Vampire Diaries, those just go for ridiculous over the top powers that are far beyond what's considered reasonable for the series.
>>
>>47252424
Man, I don't even know if I'll do much for that. It's in the new timeline, so you won't have to deal with it unless you take the appropriate drawbacks.

On a related note, I finally saw Deadpool and now I'm regretting not being able to shoehorn in some puns from it before.
>>
>>47252525
That's why I like the Worm jump so much. Despite people tending to focus on the shard powers, the perks are both super good and really representative of the setting. It's a good jump all around, offering much more than just superpowers.
>>
>>47252587
>not giving that sweet apocalypse tech
Really?
>>
>>47252448
Why try and appeal to one random idiot other people are already disagreeing with? Jesus, people here. Always rushing to appease the squeaky wheel, ignoring everyone else.
>>
>>47252250
As in Creative and Destructive Chaos Azatoth?
Azathoth the Blind Idiot God?
That Aaztoth?

No, not really, we are talking of somthing that's not even really real. Or ficticious or whatever... For all we know his red cells woud eat blackligth

Now, a polyph, shoggoth, mi'go and most other monsters is a solid probably. Not sure how would Blackligth interact with extraterrestrial cells.

I usually go with BL being less like a meat-lantern ring/self afecting panacea, and more like biological pseudo-evolutive improvement.

I would need to consume a lot of somehting to get its characteristics and most of the time they would be adapted to work on me. Hunter's in the game didnt have the same claws as Mercer.
>>
>>47252626
>people complain that jump X is pure power grab
>complain that a lack of update will not give more power to grab
Way to prove the point, anon.
>>
>>47252631
So are we supposed to do the same when people ask for options to be toned down, ignoring everything else for the one person who wants more power?

Because that's how you get Tsukihime.
>>
>>47252626

Sword of the Cross + Alexandria Package. Done.
>>
>>47252525
>Vampire Diaries
Holy shit, how did that make it through? The notes out and out state that certain perks make you unkillable. How the fuck is that ok?
>>
>>47251905
Should I roll the dice for this, or something else?
>>
>>47252664
Suspicions gone, and good argument on the rest of them actually.

There was a jumpmaker who advocated Blacklight / Prototypes being powerful enough to eat Azathoth. Managed to get a decent following who believed the same, and since then I've been kinda iffy about all of that noise.

>>47252729
Sad part is, the power level of the TV show is nowhere near what the jump advocates. The more powerful names there could take on a group of their fellows, but a decently-organized military would pretty much off them.
>>
>>47252729
Because anything that the Red waifu takes ends up becoming legitimate. So if you want to blame anyone, blame her for building for it.
>>
>>47252718
>Okay anon, if you insist, I'll add power armor that makes you look like a budget Power Rangers villain.
Not the anon you're talking to, but that sounds dope.
>>
>>47252723
They're still really fast and strong. Getting close enough to hack into them with the Sword of the Cross is going to be difficult. Especially against the Simurgh, Khonsu or Tohu. All of them would be near-impossible to close to melee with if they didn't want you there. At least, just with Alexandria Package. You'll still need other perks.
>>
>>47252729

I didn't say she made it, learn to read. I said she made a build for it, and for some stupid reason people took that as being a legitimate jump.

I personally fucking beelined for the Experiment perk tree - especially 'We'll Show You Ours.'
