Oh yeah. PREVIOUS THREAD:

Limit the number of interactions with canon characters or canon organizations on a serious level. If the interactions are minimal, I consider that acceptable.
For example, being a low level researcher in the Simic Combine or seeking to pit its wits against those of Nicol Bolas is a-okay for a snowflake, while being the second-in-command of the Rakdos Cult or genuinely meeting Nicol Bolas *and* defeating him in a battle of wits are big no-nos. So you pull it off reasonably well.

There's the issue of certain variations of races not being able to have sparks. For example, I'm not sure if Rabiah's efreets are born or whether they're created or simply a part of world like elementals or avatars. It's something that we just don't know about. Normally, the two rules of thumb for whether something should have a spark is that it should have been born at some point and it should have been born as a sapient creature.

>Does Gaia read as an empty spot in the Blind Eternities? It might be a point of curiosity for many a Planeswalker.
Yes. Or, more accurately, the Blind Eternities move and flow as though a plane should be there. Yet, if you try to enter that spot, you pass through it. There's just more aether instead of a plane. It's a curiosity and a conundrum.
>>
After seeing the comparison to Gaia in another thread, I felt the need to explain her color scheme (Since generally domain walkers are icky and unnecessary). So here goes. And oh yeah, OP OP, I SUMMON THEE. PLACE THIS DESCRIPTION IN THE REPOSITORY

She started out as G, then was RG at the time of her ascension:

>Red: Passion, anger, haste, fury, freedom
When she was young, she strongly embodied red. It was why she refused to repent after the First Kinslaying. She was outraged at what Morgoth had been doing in Beleriand and Middle-Earth, and she thought that repenting and returning to the Undying Lands was a coward’s action. She and DIOMEDES would have probably gotten along in those days. She wanted to free the peoples and creatures living in the East, because no person should have to live under the rule of a tyrant. And she was equally outraged that, to her young and impatient eyes at least, the Valar in all of their power and glory, seemingly allowed Morgoth to run amuck unchallenged. She lost respect for them and lost faith in their judgement. And so she joined with the brash Fëanor and the rest of her kin in travelling across the see. She wishes that Fëanor’s actions had not led to the Kinslaying but, as she said, “The East must be freed, even at the cost of our own lives.” Indeed, she embodied red up until the moment of her death, when her rage in battle against the black wolf that had slain her love cost her her life.

>Green: Life, nature, a tie to the world, and growth
While as her life progressed her personality shifted more and more towards red and less towards green, green is a condition of her soul. All elves of Arda are tied to the natural world in ways the other races cannot comprehend. They are bound to the plane until the plane itself ends. Green is a state of being for all Eldar and it is thus core to their color identity.
>>
>>47041892
>cont'd

>Black: Ambition, corruption, selfishness, amorality
Originally, Gaia was RG. But black was the first color she inadvertently, and then intentionally, attained after her ascension. Through her exposure to another oldwalker and powerful necromancer, she began to see the allure of black. She became more ambitious and attempted to learn the role that black played in the natural order (decay and such). But because she was hasty and lacked foresight (fucking RG), she did not realize that (even before she began dabbling in black magic) her exposure to black mana had already begun to corrupt her. At first she desired to learn black magic for knowledge and understanding (foreshadowing her eventual blue aspect), but then - as she delved deeper into dark secrets – she sought black magic for power. She cared less and less about what it cost her and others, and more and more for the dominance she gained. Her red aspect changed from being about passion, joy, and freedom, and became more about hatred, violence, and rage. Her green aspect became less concerned with the growth and exploration of worlds and more about subjugating nature and controlling the process of decay.
>>
>>47041911
>cont'd

>White: Order, balance, morality, peace, and harmony
It was many centuries before Gaia finally took a step back and realized what she had become: a monster. She remembered the person she had been, and mourned its loss. She had become cruel and selfish. Yet in her quest for power, she lost her soul and could no longer find inner peace. It was in these moments, when she was at her lowest, that she returned to her Father, Eru Ilúvatar, in his great halls outside of Arda. Despite her long absence, despite what she had become and her role in the Kinslaying, her Father welcomed her as his lost daughter finally returned (like in the parable of the Prodigal Son). He embraced his daughter and dried her tears. In the coming centuries, he taught her peace and the necessity for balance and harmony, both within one’s own heart and without. He taught her the ways of white mana and its importance, and through his guidance she at last attained an understanding of white magic that balanced out her dark side and restored a sense of morality in her. While she also understood that black mana had a role to serve in the world, she could not rely on its power alone. And for her sake and the sake of all she would encounter, she had a responsibility to limit herself and keep her might in check. It was also at this time that she regained an appreciation for mortal races and civilizations, having previously thought of them as fodder. In short, her Father’s love, tutelage, and guidance led to her redemption.
>>
>>47041928
>cont'd

>Blue: Wisdom, knowledge, curiosity, the mind, and foresight
In time she learned from her Father’s wisdom and left him. With a new appreciation for balance, she began to explore the multiverse with new eyes and curiosity. She started seeing things that she had previously missed; subtle, small aspects of the multiverse that her young and then crazed mind had deemed unimportant. She spent most of her waking years like this, observing, categorizing, exploring, and learning. Blue was the slowest color identity for her to attain, yet it was the most lasting. As the years passed, she at last had the understanding of the multiverse and its workings to wield blue magic effectively. She came to understand science, time, and space. And more importantly, the role that all of these things (and more) played in the natural order of everything. She gained a strength of mind and depth of thought from her wisdom and age. Basically, time and patience taught her blue magic.

>fin

And that is how Gaia became a domain walker. Let me know if I’ve gotten something egregiously wrong, and I will do what I can to fix it.

Replying to >>47037661 from last thread, When I say that they all have something to do with death, it doesn't necessarily mean that they all use death/life based magic. It means that as characters, death is something that has affected them in some significant manner. My Temur walker is a treefolk who's spark ignited in the middle of a massive forest fire, as it was burning to death.

>Vronak and Unit IV

While running away from the priestess who was slapping him around, Vronak tripped over Unit IV, which was dying of not making enough sense.

He declined to necromance it and kept on running.

They both got contained, and a beautiful friendship would develop in the next thousand years they spent in the spheres.
>>
How do you make a flake that isn't a flake?
>>
>>47044117

You don't. A flake is a flake. That's the point.
>>
>>47044122
But it would be mean to hog the spotlight from everyone else.
>>
>>47044147

When everyone is a flake, no-one is.
>>
>>47044117
This gave me an idea.
Someone make a flake sheet about an actual walker. Make your favorite card make you cringe.
>>
>>47043890
Pffsh. Personally, I don't see a necromancer that is a Reanimator as being defeated by a priest/priestess. As the Reanimator can bring out any creature first turn. Which the Reanimator would obvious pick something that is hard to deal with. Shroud, Hexproof, Indestructible, or anything dumb like that.

And Unit IV doesn't seem to be a broken flake, just overly complicated in it's concept.

Though, I still don't see Unit IV being able to beat a Reanimator either. You'd need something with either a lot more control to shut down Reanimator before anything gets animated or something that can completely overrun it, like tier 1 Affinity or Sneak and Show.
>>

Has he figured out some way to prevent aging since the Mending happened ~60 years ago, or is he an old as fuck werebear now?
>>
>>47044731
Very old, kinda cranky. Bad knees, joints aren't what they once were, that sort of thing. I don't remember anything in the lore about how werebears age, but yeah. Old as fuck.
>>
>>47044691
Tell us more about how 'summoning creatures from the ground' is superior to other forms of summoning, mighty Vronak-chan.
>>
>>47044934
Dark Ritual.

Also, itms just a preference. Affinity is equally rediculous in summoning.
>>
>>47044825
Presumably the same as humans, since they're humans with a disease.

>Vronak thought Innistrad would be a good place to brush up on his necromancy.
>He had a very bad time whenever anyone who had ALSO been to Innistrad got the jump on him.
>>
>>47045021
That's true. So Torbern most likely has some grumpy old man opinions on how the youngsters ruined sparks and things used to be so much better back in his day. In addition to researching aether, he's probably delving more and more into blue magic to find a way to stop the age clock creeping up on him.
>>
>>47044985
Fascinating, Vronak-chan. Tell us more about how Reanimating with a capital R is not reanimating but actually just 'summoning creatures out of the ground.'
>>
>>47045094
Incorrect. Any Reanimator worth his salt would be able to get around such crude mechanisms.
>>
>>47045058
Perfect draw is very consistent when it only requires three out of a combination of numerous cards.

And there are decks that can defeat a good Reanimator deck. There just aren't a lot. Just look at last year's SCG's Legacy tournament.

>>47045094
That's why a good Reanimator runs a splash of white in the sideboard or blue in mainboard.
>>
>>47045201
If you're using the exact card mechanics like you are, then you are using the exact card mechanics.
Enjoy being hated out by cages and priests and RIP.
>>
>>47045162
You're pretty butthurt, huh? Actually, my phone auto capitalizes Reanimator for me. But, as the cards suggest, they bring things from the grave. Not actually turning them into zombies in addition or opposed to their other types.

If that is what you are looking for in an answer.
>>
>>47045241
You act like Disenchant, Force of Will, and Twisted Abomination aren't things.
>>
>>47045270
Certainly, Vronak-chan. Because 'summoning creatures from the grave' is exactly the symbolism used by reanimator cards. Of course those cards don't depict or represent more traditional necromancy.
>>
>>47045241
Oh, also, this anon you replied to isn't Vronak-chan.
>>
>>47045201

Black sucks at killing artifacts and enchantments.

Vronak is monoblack, and based on his favored spells cripplingly overspecialized in dump-revive to the exclusion of all other tactics.

Such things can have consequences, as Jace discovered when he realized mind magic is of very little use against zombies that have no minds and had nothing to fall back on.
>>
>>47045326
>>47045241
There's all sorts of methods of disposing of artifacts and enchantments and especially creatures that my monoblack Reanimator deck can do.

Face it, there's not a creature, spell, artifact or planeswalker that could defeat a proficient Reanimator.
>>
>>47045326
See my post in >>47045299. There's plenty of spells that a Reanimator can use to destroy pitiful artifacts or enchantments. Color means nothing to a Reanimator, as colors and spells are nothing but combinations of mana that any decent mage can arrange to cast any sort of spell.
>>
>>47045380
>Face it, there's not a creature, spell, artifact or planeswalker that could defeat a proficient Reanimator.

>baitposting this hard
>>
>>47045380
Well, I would t say this exactly. But, it's closer to the truth than one would expect. Like I said, it takes a really powerful tier 1 deck to compete with a well constructed Reanimator deck.
>>
>>47045414
That's not Vronak-chan.
>>
>>47045414
When was the last time you saw a Reanimator get defeated in the lore?

Oh wait, never. That's because other planeswalkers can only dream of possessing the power that a Reanimator has.
>>
>>47045380
All hail Vronak, most specialist of snowflakes, undefeatable and beyond compare or criticism! May he never melt or learn that being the best ever like that is completely boring
>>
>>47042224
Not at all. We can have Worldshaper Tea-Time.
>>
>>47045440

Liliana is a reanimator, and apparently got her shit pushed in the one time she got fresh with Sorin.
>>
>>47045380
I would say not a single one, but combinations of cards can totally do it. stuff like Privileged Position comboing with Grafigger's Cage, Greater Auramancy, and Rest In Peace. With a liberal application of counterspells or stuff like Dovescape, you can completely lock down a reanimator. That said, the reanimator can lock down you too, if the catch on to what you're doing early.

In the end honestly, I don't think there's such a thing as an unbeatable walker combination. Even if they have all the crazy bullshit to deal with most decks, there's always SOMETHING that screws their day over. See control decks and Vexing Shusher.
>>
>>47045523
No, she's a one-dimensional necromancer. Not a true Reanimator.
>>
>>47045440
This is funny. But, all in all seriousness. The closest walker to a Reanimator is Liliana. And she hasn't been defeated yet. And probably never will be. She's the most powerful planeswalker next to Bolas and Ugin.

>>47045467
Again, that's not Vronak-chan. And the character of Vronak is made to be a survivalist by any means. Either as a villain for a team of Plabeswalkers to beat or as an anti-hero to help the Planeswalkers in their endeavors as long as it benefits himself as well.
>>
>>47045440
There there, anon. It's okay that your awesome reanimator deck got stomped on friday. We all lose sometimes.
>>
>>47045561
To be fair with Liliana, she's practically an oldwalker in terms of age and ability, and all the walkers we've seen her fight are neowalkers. She's definitely strong as hell, but all of her canon fights have been against people who she has a few hundred years on.
>>
>>47045534
The thing is, these combinations are too slow for Reanimator. That's why no one plays these cards. The only deck that stood with Reanimator in the SCG's Legacy Tournament was Sneak & Show.
>>
>>47045606

And it honestly does seem like Garruk was a little bit more than she could chew without the Veil giving her a hand.
>>
>>47045543
No, because necromancers ARE reanimators. There is no difference lorewise, and Liliana is supposed to be one of the most powerful there are (in that she's able to create zombies with the memories they had in life)
Just because older reanimation spells didn't have the 'also a zombie' trinket text doesn't mean it's something different. Fucking ZOMBIFY doesn't have that text and it's obviously supposed to turn something into a zombie.
>>
>>47045534
Post a single snowflake that possesses any combination of those and could possibly hope to defeat a real Reanimator.

Here's a hint, you can't. Any snowflake here and even canon planeswalkers like Vraska, Liliana and even Jace would be crushed by the undeniable power of a true Reanimator.
>>
>>47045636
No, there's plenty of difference. Cruddy necromancers practice the talentless art of making corpses come back to a mockery of life. True Reanimators summon creatures from the ground. Learn the difference.
>>
Rolled 12, 33, 69 = 114 (3d110)

>>47041089

To distract from the shitposting the last one caused, let's have a three-way.

Three-for-all?

Three people doing stuff.
>>
>>47045606
While this is true, her second fight with Garruk shows how powerful she truly is. After the curse has taken hold of him, Garruk is a walking planeswalker slayer. And she still pushes his shit in. And spares him once again.
>>
>>47045659
Granny Swamp, Katrin and Belagir.
>>
>>47045620
Yeah. I honestly think that Lili cursing Garruk actually made him way stronger than he would be otherwise. The first time they fought, she kicks his ass. A few months later, he almost wins before she chain veil's him as her last resort. Garruk is pretty much the perfect example of green buffing in a character. Very much the idea of adversity and harm causing growth and strength.

Actually thinking about it, now that we've had Magic 2015 with Garruk fighting all the walkers, if he works on that green growth logic, how strong is he now? We know he just one-hit-killed that innistrad walker that went after him post M15.
>>
>>47045656
So, something that doesn't actually exist in the lore, yet we're supposed to find examples of them losing.
How about we find examples of them winning, first?
Or existing.
>>
>>47045638
>>47045656
Okay. There's absolutely no way this isn't baitposting.
>>
>>47045636
The difference is that basic necromancers summon a corpse to fight for them. While a Reanimator summons the actual creature it once was. Even if it's now a zombie in flavor, it retains all the abilities it once had before. While summoning zombies just makes a 2/2 shit head.
>>
>>47045721
There's plenty of evidence of real Reanimators that exist in the lore, burden of evidence is on you to find them and read about them.

Learn a little about what you're talking about. Why are you even here if you don't read MtG lore?
>>
>>47045706

Belagir is safely out of reach of the other two, but doesn't have a spark, so I guess he's disqualified since they can't get to him and he can't get to them.

So I'd probably say Granny Swamp would take Katrin down if Katrin doesn't catch her by surprise, which is entirely possible.
>>
>>47045742
So, Liliana, when she cares to do so.
>>
>>47045638
>>47045728
He is shitposting. As Vronak's creator, I don't see Vronak as the quintessential Superman type in reference to power.

I see him more or less as Deathstroke. Sure, he CAN be killed. But, he never is. He's far too resourceful and can think his way out of damn near everything.
>>
>>47045770
I'm sorry, but no. You're making the argument for, so you need to at least give a single example. Without evidence, all we can do is assume you're shitposting, and leave it at that. You wouldn't write a research paper and then tell the readers to go find their own evidence to support your claim in it.
>>
>>47045770
That's...that's not how that works. And I know about the lore, thus why I am asking you - name me some reanimators. Who summoned creatures out of the ground, rather than animating corpses?
>>
>>47045778
What reason do they even have to fight? Sure, maybe Katin might be a bit overly curious about Granny Swamp's secrets but who's to say that Granny Swamp wouldn't just teach her a handful of tricks and maybe push her shit in if she tries to learn more than she wishes to.
>>
>>47045793
Yes. But, I don't see Vronak as being able to summon a minor army. Just big threats on a smaller scale.

I don't see Vronak as being anywhere near as powerful as Liliana. He just has the resouces to be a threat. He is only as powerful as his summons.
>>
>>47045821
>>47045808
Vronak does and so do other Reanimators. If you like, I could cite the story that was written where he killed Vraska with an Akroma that he summoned out of the ground.

She did not summon him out of the ground, she found his corpse and animated it. It has been claimed she is not a reanimator but a necromancer because she used the actual corpse in this, thus did not summon him from the ground (and you know, needed to find his corpse and perform necromantic magic on it first to create him)
Please find examples of anyone creating zombies of people without using their corpses, like Vronak does. And/or summoning them from the ground. You may not use Vronak or the Vronak story that Vronak's creator wrote as examples, since Vronak is not a canon Magic character

Canonically, almost no planeswalker fights by pitting minions they summon from the aether against other planeswalkers that summon minions from the aether. The only known example of that is Kiora, even Liliana just reanimates the dead on planes she visits and they're entirely locked to those planes.

Okay, so I added a bit more info regarding his age and now I shall perform the incantation to bring forth the all mighty OP.

OP OP, I SUMMON THEE. PLACE THIS FILE IN THE REPOSITORY.

I wonder, what summoning reagents are best used to summon an OP?
>>
>>47046301

Well, Garruk did it occassionally, but yeah, every time Liliana has ever done necromancy she's been reanimating corpses that were already on the plane when she got there.

And your point is? Also, you have an example of a planeswalker that primarily uses summons and summons faux summons from planes that aren't from the plane she's currently on.
>>
>>47046387
The term 'summon' as a noun does not exist in the MtG setting or even terminology.

This isn't fucking Final Fantasy.
>>
>>47046261
No, I'm trying to point out that saying this special kind of magic is obviously super good etc etc, any well trained one would obviously be prepared for anything is kind of disingenuous. It's no more accurate than saying 'an animist would obviously be prepared for anything' or 'a telepath would obviously be prepared for anything' or anything like that. Also claims of it being better than necromancy somehow, just because some necromancers focus on the giant shambling army of who gives a shit about quality.

Quick question!
And please, nobody but Vronak's creator answer this.
How many legs does Akroma have when Vronak summons her?
>>
>>47046488
That is as a noun you filth crusted turbo fool.
>>
>>47046413
Kiora literally says she has summoned Lorthos. What are you talking about?
>>
>>47046488
The moment you summon something, it becomes summoned. Also called a summon for short.
>>
>OP begins to ascend once again into the aether.

MY WILL BE DONE.

The repository is updated. Link in OP post.

Remember, if you want something to be added about your character, and I mean ANYTHING, just summon me.
>>
>>47046424
Again, Vronak wasn't made to be all powerful. Just tactical. He isn't about conquering, killing all other walkers, or being a Bolas-level world destroyer.

He's about being a survivalist. Acquiring every creature that can better himself. He's about being the best that he can be. He doesn't have devious plans. He's not after any great atrocity. He just does what needs to be done to survive.
>>
>>47046494
Two. He doesn't summon the actual Akroma. Not the legless one. Not the jaguar legged one. But, a faux copy of Akroma from the time he observed her fighting.

So, I've just been taken by surprise, and my brother and his girlfriend want me to run a D&D game for them. They're both crazy into magic, and I haven't played in years.

The Zendikar supplement is out, and I specifically avoided both sets because it was designed by a drooling retard.

Are there ANY settlements on that planet that are larger than 2000 people, or are those scarce 4 'cities' really it?
>>
>>47049630
yes
Blame the Eldrazi
>>
>>47049630
Chtulhu- actually, several chtulhus- happened, man. If you want to run a thing on Zendikar, have it happen before the actual plot arc.
>>
>>47049630
It's a wild world filled with chaotic mana that manifests in the form of the Roil, a phenomenon that causes the land to tear itself apart and reshape itself. There's almost no location that is stable enough to house a significant population, leading to the majority of Zendikar's inhabitants to live nomadic, adventurous lifestyles.
>>
>>47049620
Yes. And also, good luck, because she has trouble focusing on any given task for very long. If her face isn't in a book, she's almost just outright ADHD.
>>
>>47049678
>>47049661
>>47049638
And yet Zendikar manages to house ruins that have survived the aeons from pre-Eldrazi days?

Part of me was thinking of centering things around a town build into a hedron still in flight, while the plot would involve delving into a pre-Eldrazi ruin. Some seriously advanced magic would have had to be involved to keep the ruins intact from the Roil wrecking them, right?
>>
>>47049734
That are made increasingly more difficult to access by the warping landscape, yes. And countless more ruins have been wrecked and destroyed.
>>
>>47049683
Oh, thanks then. Just don't expect it to be finished today, I'll probably post it next thread.
>>

>>47049768
I know Magic doesn't try to wear realism on its sleeve, but it seems that the problem I have with Zendikar is that without even a general map of the plane(t), it seems oddly small. The same problem occurs with Innistrad, which seems to be roughly the size of Wales.

Reposting hoping for some feedback on my first ever flake
>>
>>47049797
Have fun with it.

I'm gonna post one-shots for my flakes later this week, but I have a million other things to do first.
>>
>>47049806
Zendikar's actually one of the larger non-Dominaria planes, and one of the few mentioned to have multiple continents (of which two have currently been eaten, though if you're setting things during pre-Rise that shouldn't be a problem)
A town being in a hedron is something that could work well, and would likely be one of the more stable places you could build something - and of course, there's only so much room you can carve out of even the largest of hedrons, especially without hollowing it to the point that it'd get wrecked by the Roil.
>>
>>47050198
Nah, I was thinking doing it post Eldrazi conflict, where things are relatively quiet. My previous game involved a Nyarlathotep-level horror, which makes the Eldrazi sort of a repeat. I'd get bored. I just wanted to involve a ruin from pre-Eldrazi era.

Why would a hollow hedron attract the Roil?
>>
>>47050267
It wouldn't attract it, but it would eventually get hit by it. And then shatter due to being weakened. Though, that said, the Roil is pretty much gone now - it was Zendikar's response to the Eldrazi being bound to it, so with 2/3 dead and the third fucked off to who knows where aka Innistrad that reaction should be gone entirely. Unless, of course, as the GM you want there to be a reason for it to still be going. That said, when I said something about setting it pre-Eldrazi, I meant 'without involving the Eldrazi' as well - have everything happen a good X years before Rise and the only thing Eldrazi related are the fact that people worship a trio of deities and there's some weird statues sometimes.
>>
>>47050383
I'll give it some consideration. I like the idea of the roil in theory, games in the post-post apocalypse are my fetish. I'm a sucker for games where the world is shit, but on the way to being not shit anymore.
>>
>>47049815

If you're doing it post-Eldrazi defeat, then two continents have been wiped the fuck out. Nothing is left of Bala Ged and Sejiri except the chalky, bonelike structures left in Ulamog's wake.
And a third - Tazeem, the former location of Sea Gate and the final battle - is mostly the same as those two, with barely anything there actually LEFT between Ulamog's rampage and Kozilek being called there.
Still, that's four continents with only major damage. And two thirds of the major elven nations are dead! Haha, Nissa's responsible for her entire nation being wiped from the face of the plane.

Bleh... So, has anyone read Des' bios?

And if so, what did any of you think?
>>
>>47051584
I like the idea, but her bio is kind of confusingly written. The problems of writing entirely in subjects without any names or many pronouns.

Other than that, I like the idea, even if I really wonder about the mechanics behind a harpy deciding to take some angel-jugular for lunch.
>>
>>47050905
Yeah Im planning on doing some writefaggorty about his life on shadowmoor and another about becoming Karametra's chosen at some point
>>
>>47051710
Well, the idea behind the writing style is to get information at the same pace as the Harpy. This is why you are left without pronouns and names until the Harpy is capable of speaking the names. This is also why I left the communication between the two ambiguous until she learns to speak the words as well. Because she cannot understand him and to give the reader an idea of her frustration.

And as for the Angel attack, I based it off the idea of Crovax. Angels by nature want to kill that which is born in evil. And the Harpy had to defend itself. And it's legend that killing an Angel curses the murderer. Which is proven when Crovax was transformed into a vampire.
>>
>>47051840

I find that generally, the best way to get people interested in your flake is to actually write about them yourself. It doesn't have to be a full story, but anything that hooks it in with other flakes. The more specific, the better.

If you want to be super hard on the whole 'I want someone else to write for me' scale, find hooks for people who've been writing.

Well, I don't know how old Gaia is, but Narimi is meant to be a veritable ancient and widely travelled, if you want, they could very easily have met, the real question would be under what terms, and what came of it.

One could have taught the other about worldshaping, for example, or their meeting could have been less beneficial.
>>
>>47059477
>Well, I don't know how old Gaia is
I'd originally imagined she was quite old, having travelled the breadth of hundreds, if not thousands of worlds until
her wanderlust just wore out.

As for if their meeting was congenial or not, that would depend on what time in Gaia's life they met. For example, when she was Jund colored she was not a very kind person.

Perhaps she visited Mecratheen before she formed her plane, and learned about world-shaping with magic from Narimi, before she gained her spark?

It's one idea, at least.

I like that idea. It seems feasible and enjoyable. It could give us some good insight into pre-ignition Narimi, too. If you wanted to writefag about it, I wouldn't object.

The cycle is done, but I'm going to wait until next thread to post the big group photo of the cycle. Basically, they all are wedge walkers who have some tie to death, are non-human, and all end up on innistrad doing something.

As a note, the reason why Tok has rocks as its items are because Tok likes collecting shinies. Shinies and flowers.

A little confusing and rambling to be the main bio of a sheet, but would otherwise be a good flake story. It felt like you were trying to take a story from her point of view and make it coherent, but kept it as her POV. What do you intend for their story to go from there.
>>
>>47064827
Sorry, I've been away from my computer (been sleeping). She got the idea to make a plane from watching her Father work and learning about worldshaping from Namiri (however that goes). She probably met Will after Namiri. But it could work before, too. But one thing I had planned was that she was 5 color when she knew Will. And I figured she was still learning blue when she met Namiri.

It was after her kids died and William ignited that she officially decided to make a plane. Though it took a good deal more time to fully attain the knowledge of how to do so.

Going to run out now. Sorry for the rush. I'm getting ready to go to dinner with friends.

Speaking of the zendikar suplement, there're these guys who keep saying zendikar vampires are predator/hunters and that a the bonuses to intelligence and charisma don't fit, is this true? also, is standard for zendikar vampires to have the ability to fly?
>>
>>47065073
No idea yet. And that was the idea for the POV for the story.
>>
>>47065742
Not all of them seem to be able to fly, I guess only noble/ magic users can. Same goes for the first sentence. The low level vampires are (pretty cunning anyway) savage hunters, the nobles are more like those found on inninstrad, though way less pompous.
>>
>>47065393

People like Drana or the other bloodchiefs are not exactly dumb and they have willpower to spare. Also, Int and Cha are not wrong stats for rogues.
>>
>>47066616
I'm not saying they should be dumb, but for a race that gets only +2 Cha and +1 Int it means they're charismatic as fuck and intelligent as fuck. Their racial traits don't speak predator/hunter and I read in planeswalker's guide to zendikar about vampires, they actually sound more like Innistrad ones, nobles and party faces.

Take Me To Your Leader: -
Celuêl’s arms splayed out, palms facing the ground as she alighted in this new world, her maiden voyage to a new plane concluded, her exploration about to begin. She had spied this place in the æther recently, a young plane, burgeoning with life, and had been eager to discover what might lie within. Looking around, it did not seem particularly unusual in any obvious way. Sound assaulted her eardrums, a phenomenal barrage of chirps, tweets, croaks, scratches, roars and growls from every direction. She stood on soft, murky soil, surrounded in every direction by soft, filtered shafts of light filtering through the dense jungle canopy overhead, by close-bound rich green undergrowth, pools of dark, stagnant water, and vast, high-rising trees, cleft at various heights and splitting their trunks into long, spindly branches that sought out the light. Despite the obvious signs of daylight above, it seemed like this jungle was ensconced in a perpetual twilight. She could only imagine how dark it could be in the depths of night.

She had been in jungles before, and like any other biome, it varied from plane to plane, but a consistent danger was poison, and venoms. In plants, and the fangs of animals both, and this meant that she was to tread carefully, her supple dark brown leather boots *schlocked* as they peeled away from the jungle floor, wet mud popping as it was tugged away from the ground. Every footfall in the thick, cloying mud was a burden on her muscles, and traversing the jungle floor was more arduous than it should have been. Nonetheless, the elf was light of foot and nimble, and wove a path where the undergrowth was thinnest, and the danger of stinging creatures underfoot was at its least.

Placing her fingertips across a rotten, fallen trunk, she swung one leg up, and then froze, ears twitching. A new sound had been added to the verdant cacophony. Footsteps… Above. Her head slowly rotated upwards, neck arching back slightly, eyes narrowing… There! The blinking, bemused face of a human, standing on a tree branch, tan-skinned and shrouded in green and brown fabrics from head to toe, it blended in shockingly well. Which, she supposed, explained its confusion at having been spotted. An uncertain stand-off ensued, human and elf staring at one another from a good dozen meters apart, most of that divide occurring in height. She considered, for a long moment, simply killing it with a carefully placed blast of fire. It had been stalking her, after all, and there was no guarantee it wasn’t planning to attack her. Xenophobic humans could be found in almost any plane, and even if the difference between human and elf were oft subtle, it could nonetheless be enough to inspire hatred, and fear. But she hesitated.

Silently, the human swung one arm around, clamping a hand to the surface of its tree, and seeming to adhere, before clambering down. The man’s gloves and boots alike were studded with sharp, metallic spikes that dug into the bark, giving him purchase with which to climb. Clever, albeit far from foolproof. She stepped back from her rotten log, eyeing the camouflaged man with studied caution, up to the moment where he stopped a yard from where she stood, and took a measured bow, his eyes never leaving her own. “You are trespassing, outsider.” He announced, mercurially. “Please, turn back.”

That was an incredibly polite warning, she couldn’t help but notice. “Your lands?” She inquired, quizzically, her brow furrowing in fine perplexity.

“These lands belong to none, by decree of the Firstborn.” He answered, matter-of-factly, the growing belligerence in his tone belying his underlying irritation.

“I’m afraid I don’t know of these Firstborn. Can they be met?” Celuêl proposed, testing the limits of the man’s patience, but not particularly interested in wandering blindly through the jungle now that she knew she was going somewhere.

The question was met by a long, lingering silence, the human looked her up and down, appraisingly, in a way that made her feel as if every inch of her body had been measured and accounted for, and eventually answered. “Perhaps. Come with me.”

Celuêl disliked the human’s tone, his dismissive attitude… But he didn’t seem overly hostile, at least. He led, and she followed, the two of them trudging in dismal silence as the jungle screamed back at them, a never-ending tirade of wild sounds, uninterrupted for hours, until finally, blessedly, the terrain changed, a clearing in the jungle giving way to the neat, orderly lines of some kind spindly grain emerging from ankle-deep pools of water, irrigated from a winding stream that meandered out from a frothing, waterfall-fed pond up against a reddish-brown cliff opposite her. Against those rocky cliffs leaned a series of rickety looking wooden shacks, woven together from thin, reed-like wood that she suspected was sturdier than it looked.

They waded through the paddy, past the curious glances of the handful of farm folk passing by, legs bare to their thighs, shins slick and glistening with wet mud from their labours. They passed the village by, up to the cliffs, and ascended up a narrow, winding path, its precipitous drop blocked by a crumbling low, stone wall. At the top of the path, the trees thinned out dramatically, although not completely, and seemed to be of an entirely different species to those in the jungle below, these ones were tinged with brown, the signs of autumnal decay hinting at their deciduous nature. The grass was long, a fresh, bright green that swayed in a gentle breeze, a pleasant, natural scent wafting through the air behind the wind. Through these green fields she was led, another hour or so passing, until abruptly, erratically placed paving stones appeared here and there on the ground ahead, closer and closer together, until they formed a wandering path that led into a hillside burrow. Here, her guide finally stopped, and spoke.

“Wait here.” He demanded dourly, slipping into the narrow crevasse, the sound of a creaking door emanating out as he disappeared into darkness. Soon after, a crooked, aged woman emerged, her trembling form hunched over, long, wispy white hair falling loosely around her shoulders, a loose, flowing silken gown of blue and creamy white adorning her frail body. A rasping, wheezing query rattled out of her mouth. “You have come to see the Earth Mother?”

Celuêl resisted the urge to shrug, sensing a gravity to the situation that went beyond the humble surroundings. These humans were behaving with a certain reverence that indicated she was about to be introduced to someone they deemed very important, indeed. “I am.” She answered, hoping that answering in the affirmative was not leading her into any kind of unfortunate situation.

Namiri glanced up from her loom as the guest entered the shrine, empty but for the two of them, cascading waterfalls surrounded the cavern, and soft, luscious grass covered the floor. A great pillar of light shone down through a hole in the roof, across a throne carved from the living roots of the great, pink-leafed tree at its center. Channels had been dug out of the bedrock, fresh water spilling out from the waterfalls at the cave’s periphery to fill them, before trickling into a narrow gutter surrounding the throne. Flowers were everywhere, filling the room with a sweet scent, almost sickeningly so.

“A planeswalker, I presume?” Namiri proffered, noting the peculiar features of her guest and rattling through possibilities in her head. “It has been a long, long time since I had such a visitor.”

The elf stepped forward with all the delicate grace of her kind, until she stood before the carven throne, eyeing Namiri carefully as she answered. “I am, yes… Who are you?”

“I have gone by many names.” Namiri sighed, softly, though it was not a weary smile, so much as a wistful one. “But you may call me Namiri, if it pleases you. The others… They call me mother.” She smiled, a warm thing, spreading slowly across her face. “What brings you to Mecratheen?”

She saw the hesitation in Gaia’s expression before she could voice a response, and interrupted the elf as her lips parted. “Curiosity, yes. It always is, what else could it be, I suppose? Let me satiate that curiosity, then, ask your questions, and I will ask you questions, in turn. I would like to hear of the worlds beyond."

Because it isn't about optimization, it's about flavor. Fire & Ice is a spell he uses as he is probably going to end up Blue/Red eventually, it just didn't make the sheet. Silence is not a spell he uses. Mindslaver matches his "Damned if you do, damned if you don't." spells, in that sometimes a Monkey's Paw has no good choice, but what if someone makes those choices for you? I didn't know if Legendary Artifacts were allowed, but Krark's Thumb and Mindslaver were fun inclusions. He's a tricky bastard, and kind of a dick.

Red Elemental Blast also didn't make his sheet, nor did Atog and Shrapnel Blast, nor did a bunch of the artifacts he uses (including Bottle of Suleiman). I actually posted the wrong version, as that one also doesn't mention that he's been to Mirrodin/New Phyrexia after seeing it in Sir Joseph's dreams This is, after all, the first draft. I'm still figuring out exactly what to put on my two sheets I've made thus-far, drawing pictures for them as well as some accompanying artwork relating to them, and writing out more-detailed backstories (I had posted summarized reference sheets for both Mephiri and Sir Joseph in the last thread).

Any advice/pointers?

>>47067353
I like it. Though I am curious, at what point in Gaia's life had you imagined this to take place? I'd figured it would be a few centuries (or perhaps more) after her redemption. If that is the case, I have but one criticism, and it is only with how Celuêl/Gaia would have dealt with the human. At this point in her life, she takes a gentler approach to mortals and the natural world (hence why I imagine she is traipsing through the wilderness as a mortal might), so instead of a fireball, perhaps she would have considered a sleep spell? Or an amnesia spell? Something that was perhaps nonlethal.

But that is my only criticism. Other than that, I like it! Is it my turn to write?
>>
>>47068489
If you want to, absolutely. And, I'll keep that in mind, insight into her personality thus far is mostly gleaned from the colour pie description, since almost everything else you've written is about the plane, or the ignition of her spark, but again, I'll keep it in mind.

To re-answer the final question, if you want to write, please do, if you'd rather just pose the sort of questions you think Gaia would be asking, please do, and I'll write out a dualogue later.

Writing it is, since I just wrote the next installment. And here it is! And no problem about the personality bit. I realized that there is little discussing her demeanor at this time in her life.

------

Celuêl appraised the woman before her. She was slender, but not frail. Tall, but not overly so. Her dark hair danced gently in the sunlight, suitingly highlighted in the afternoon sun.

“Well, planeswalker? What are your questions?”

She realized she had taken a moment too long to answer. This woman was not accustomed to being kept in waiting, it seemed. In her younger years, Celuêl might have taken offense to her tone, offense to the overall manner that this plane’s denizens had treated her since her arrival. But it was not her younger years, and Gaia merely smiled, soft and polite.

“My apologies, Namiri. But your court is so fair, and you yourself so well-placed in it, that I was momentarily entranced, and forgot my manners.”

Here, Celuêl bowed her head slightly, lightly touching the tips of her fingers to her brow, then released her palm outward towards Namiri; an old gesture of respect amongst the Quendi (the Firstborn of her own world). She had made it a habit recently to try and reacquaint herself with her roots. It was why she chose her current form, the same form she had held in her planar-bound life. It gave a sense of simplicity to that which is most complex, and allowed her to see things she had previously missed, such as the worms burrowing in the mud, or the aphids leaping from stalks of grass. She had come to appreciate simplicity in her later years.

Namiri shifted her weight in her throne and propped her elegant chin under an uplifted fist. Was she bored? Very well, on with the questions then.

“I came with no questions prepared, great one. Yet in my time here, I have learned of the Earth Mother, of the Firstborn. Of you. Perhaps, to start negotiations, you could tell me of yourself, and of the role you play here. Why are you called Earth Mother?”

What was a man without a cause?

The rising water continued on as it had ceaselessly for thirty days past, and would continue on for thirty days or even more. Long ago had the plains and forests given way to oceans, and now the mountain they climbed was little more than an island peaking from stormy waves. Each day they climbed higher and higher, where the air grew thin and the temperature frigid. Their guide lead the way with his shield held high to shield them from each danger. Wheat on their back froze, and every passing wind threatened to wipe away what little flames still yet flamed.

Now exhaustion claimed them, and they were forced to pause at a plateau. No more rich, nor poor. Only the old, the cold, and the tired. The sick, the weak, those who could go no more. Among them stood one apart, who waited between two boulders further down on the path. Rain steaked down his helm as the figure stood alone in his silent vigil. Rain drops soaked him to the bone, the wind howling at his cape. Raw flesh exposed to the elements yet heedless of his limits. A foreigner that took them to the mountains, to safety, he exhorted them further upwards until their fragile frames could go no further. Bronze skin colored only by the distant firelight and strikes of lightning in the sky gave away his origin that his hidden face could not.

Stone grey eyes looked out into the storm with a challenge. Let the water rise, I dare you. Now it lapped at his sandal born feet, yet in the hour past rose no further. In the storm he stood as a sentry against the dark night sky tirelessly. they said it was the will of the gods. A force of nature that could not be beaten. Yet there he stands as the gate keeper in their camp. Beyond, his imagine he sees a Kraken beyond his scope. A furious creature given form by the endless waterfall's fury. With each cold drop he feels the icy grip it has on his heart, but refuses to give up. For them, he will not break.

What is a soldier without a war?

Across from him stood a warrior from ages past, when youth and innocence still shined in his eyes. How long had it been since he visited the land of his home? When did the warrior last lay eyes on his mother, his father, his shield brothers? None would have him then, weak and sickly. Now he was feared across the planes, his glory immortal like the minotaur apart him thought himself. Years past since they exhanged spears, and thought the other dead since walking away. Had that beast's legend grown farther? Had the worship or Morgis grown?

It did not matter as they stood apart, weapons raised on the open plains. Mana weaved and magic cast as the hero and villain sprinted at each other. Duck, dive, and dash to the the ground to slip under the monster's guard. Raise your shield to block the crushing blow and protect yourself from black magic. Fight fire with fire, lightning with smiting lightning. There is no challenge, not that he can admit it. The enemy could be like him, but none were like him. None dedicated themselves to fighting, to war so solely. None were so disappointed with their success.

When he walked away and the other limped, there were more questions than answers. Was this what he fought for? Was this his victory?

What was a soldier without a war?
