>What is Exalted?
An epic high-flying role-playing game about reborn god-heroes in a world that turned on them.
Start here: http://theonyxpath.com/category/worlds/exalted/

>That sounds cool, how can I get into it?
Read the 3e core book (link below). For mechanics of the old edition, play this tutorial: http://jyenicolson.net/exalted/. It'll get you familiar with most of the mechanics.

>Gosh that was fun. How do I find a group?
Roll20 and the Game Finder General here on /tg/. With the new edition, though, chances are more games will crop up.

Have you ever used non-hostile dragonblooded? And if so how?
>>
>>46789107
> Have you ever used non-hostile dragonblooded?

This question smells of borderline bait. Have you ever used non-hostile elves?

But yes. I've had non-Immaculate-Faith dragonblooded of several sorts, and from the Realm and nominally believing in the Immaculate Faith, there were still:
drunken tourist dragonblooded who didn't want to start shit, merely enjoying the weird outland scenery
city-ruling dragonblooded who just taxed the solar craftsman and sat back to enjoy the flood of money and pretend nothing was wrong (and that tax was frankly a gouge by local standards, but the Solar was happy to pay it and not have trouble)
captive dragonblooded who were willing to rethink things on the grounds of having been rescued from deathlord by solar
mercenary dragonblooded who salved their conscience by telling themselves that they weren't really working with the Anathema for pay, oh no, they were taking the Anathema's money to spy on the Anathema, which is totally fine amirite

She was the token friendly lost egg. She managed an inn in semi-hiding, and not cared about anything but her inn and living a relatively peaceful life.

She was mostly here to barge into the PCs troublemakers and throw some elemental essence around, but then my players liked her, and I gave her a name (Sesse Anja), a backstory, and I kept her around for the campaign.

Even in 2e, not all DBs are murderous haterage killmurders, and I wanted to give this sense to my players.
>>
So, anyone use animating intelligences in their games?

>It's finally out edition.
Where's it out? Onyx Path site still says "coming soon". Not seeing the book on Amazon or DriveThruRPG.

>>46789339
>So, anyone use animating intelligences in their games?
Not me. I've had the occasional intelligent manse guardian, but animating intelligences just don't seem to fit the aesthetic.
>>

It comes out today.

They've still got time to fuck it up, then. Or for the site it's going to be sold on to get hacked by a very determined Ashton Kutcher.

Glorious.
>>
>>46789107
Our group's on kind of friendly terms with a Dragon-blooded. Or at least my character would say so, the other characters think he's retarded and 'She tried to kill you at least once'.

She's mostly come across as someone bound by duty but who isn't going to get a lot of soldiers killed against a Solar she isn't sure is actually evil, when the Satrapies have been left defenseless.

So it's probably too late to suggest that the three types of Command Actions should be named "Order","Rally" and "Regroup" instead of the incredibly stupid "Rally For Numbers".

It's a big flippin' book.
>>
>>46789094

This book has been in development for so long, delayed for so long, that I don't feel anything but sheer apathy where I should feel excited.

I'm not rushing to download it, I'm just kinda meh over the game, maybe it's because better games have come out since then, maybe because i'm still feeling bitterness over how, as bad as 1st edition shit the bed, it was leaps and bounds better mechanically that 2e, or even how 2.5e came to little to late.

I don't know, I can't get excited for this one.
>>
>>46793297

Well its not like we are getting anything today anyway. Its just grammar and art fixes.
>>
>>46793464
Didn't they say they were adding some errata to some charms?
>>
>>46793485
Yeah. Word came down that 8000 words of fluff per Charm wasn't obfuscation enough, so the devs have added in some even less readable fonts and thrown actual faeces at the page.

Probably. But I would not really get too excited about some minor fixes.

Maybe if we got the backer charms I could get excited but this is just a finality so work can start on other books.

>so the devs have added in some even less readable fonts

Case in point: Consider here the selective serifing of some letters and not others, 'W' is exact inverse of 'M', both of which have been curvified, capital 'A' looks like the lovechild of h and d having a threesome with greek lambda, 'r' is stemless, as is 'n', lowercase 's' dips below line, both forms of 'S' are straightened until they look like integral signs, 't' has an upper half-serif that looks like a right-bar making it bleed over towards 'f' or 'E', 'd' looks like an overcurled 'J', 'Y' cannot decide whether it's uppercase, lowercase, or derived from the hieroglyph of a goblet, 'g' has to be inferred from context because that symbol drawn in its place is bloody well a 'q', 'h' looks like it's been into Tolkien's Tengwar, and the only letters to escape more or less intact appear to be 'o', 'e' and 'f'. I guess some of those will perhaps be made terrible by the latest update.

Elsewhere, as in Chapter Four:Traits, capital 'T' and lowercase 'i' both curve right at the base to look like mirrored 'J' or 'j'.

It all screams artsy pretentious faggot who can't leave well enough alone, but has to make his mark by distorting letters that were doing fine on their own. The sort who takes the Anna Karenina approach to being original: "all good fonts are alike, each shitty font is shitty in its own unique way". --With apologies to Tolstoy

(Or maybe this could just be a giant honeypot to tell who's been leaking by giving each backer their own unique shitty font and then looking at the leaks "aha, it's PDF #59435 that looks like this!")
>>

This whole edition so far, outside of some good mechanical idea's has been a drawn wagon overstocked with mediocre, pulled by a single horse of failure named Holden.

If I were interested in writing persuasively here on 4chan (lol) I would use smaller words like "aware" or "know," but I really don't give a shit if you change your mind. I'm just providing people who may not be idiots the information they need to make good decisions.

>I mean it is disappointing, and I know that a 3e failure would probably doom the company itself, which in of itself is not a bad thing, would mean we'd never see Scion 2e.
But 3e is already a failure. Why do you think they have to sell it before they deliver to backers?
>>
>>46794832

I feel like I'm missing your point, they have been handing off versions of it to backers for a while now in the beta form.
>>
>>46794832
Because that was the plan all along? I mean, the super giga deluxe version or whatever was never supposed to be sent to backers before the PDF went on sale.
>>

No, that became the plan. Originally the only people who would be waiting would be the ones who ordered the gold-pressed leaf book.

Now all backers are basically screwed because the project is in the red.

>>
>>46795025
>I'm sure the RPGnet is masturbating itself to completion over this launch, because Holden is the god of their safe space
RPG.net is very down on it too, actually, even with Mengtzu working overtime to gin up interest. For backers the game has been out long enough that their reaction is "meh, when do I get my book?" and for everyone else it's "the people playing it feel it's meh, so...meh"

>But everywhere else I'm looking at, this launch has had all the gravitas of a wet fart.
It's being laughed about in many places. Rich Thomas is a punchline now.

"What do you get when you take a product with a lot of really interested fans, kickstart a ton of money, and then don't deliver for four years?"

"What?"

"Rich."
>>
Where's the new PDF?
>>
>>46795147

Please show me examples of RPGnet shitting on it kind sir, I'm at home with a stomach bug and I could use a smile right now.

(Seriously though the combat mechanics feel nice, crafting XP can fuck a post, but considering what I saw a group do with 2e crafting, it might be for the best)
>>
I am enthusiastic about it. Though I have been playing it and will most likely support it further.
Because, well, my campaigns lasts for years anyway, if I'll burn through another campaign before I get the stuff I want I don't mind that much. Most likely because my exalted campaign is nearing it's end and then I'm starting a Shadowrun or superhero campaign. Not like I'm in a hurry. I'm glad it got out and glad it's playable.

>>46793552
Having it leak two years ago killed the hype. Nobody's gonna be excited for art replacements and rule corrections, nigga.
>>
>>46795147
I guess the leak is a big issue there. Rather than have everyone interested get hold of the new material at the same time, we all read the pdf when we heard it was available. I remember when I saw these threads touting the original leak and being very excited about it, but I couldn't really share that with a group.

Of course, Exalted hasn't had a large fanbase before now, so it's not as if I was likely to meet another Exalted fan in person.

>>46795253
I too am enthusiastic about it. I plan to buy the book, and hope that other people will as well; increases the chances of getting more books. Also, until they make a tablet PC that can read pdfs worth a damn I'm still going to want a physical book at the gaming table.

>>46795371
Zero surprise. Honestly, they could have saved themselves a lot of mockery if they'd just plastered PLACEHOLDER ART over the obviously unfinished stuff. They had to know that CG Chompy wasn't going in the final book.
>>

The leak is practically Satan to some of the devs, responsible for all bad things. For example:

> You know what the leak did? Well, first, it shrunk the pool of people we knew we could trust dramatically and it ensured the game got less playtesting than we’d planned on.

> The leak robbed me of the ability to control the pacing of my supplement cycle

> We ran the Kickstarter on faith in the product rather than putting all cards on the table because we’ve got a bigger concern in mind than just the performance of the corebook– we have every book that comes after it to worry about, and all the leak did was make our job harder for the next year, because we have to build momentum from a cold start rather than using the release-cycle acceleration as we designed it to work all this time. So the leak is maybe good for you, today, but it made production harder for the last year and it will continue to make it harder for the year to come, and what that ultimately translates to is worse products which take a longer amount of time to make.

From Holden on rpg.net:

"Made a post about this on the OPP forums a while back-- I am having no luck digging it up, maybe someone has it archived? Short version, there's a (very small but rather impactful) patch to the Sail rules, Charm timing and type-use is clearer, lot of typos fixed, versioning artifacts cleaned out (Evocation XP costs actually make sense now, which is nice...), there were a very few Charms that got clarifications or balance nudges, and if there was artwork you really hated, it has probably been replaced. Fogshark is no longer devouring text, nor are southern dune tribes stealing big swathes of it. Mists of Eventide got bapped with the nerf bat a bit. Couple Craft Charms vanished. Different table of contents. Lotta little things, nothing revolutionary. The most immediately noticeable thing will be the art swaps."

The artwork of the empress on her throne is from 2e I believe. Except they painted over a section where she was showing her legs.

Which is doubly weird because the Empress has always used all tools, including sex, to get what she wants.

Nah, the art is a copy of a art piece from 2e (and a shitty copy at that).
And for some reason they decided her showing her deformed naked leg was what made it bad and painted it red.

>>46796114
>Which is doubly weird because the Empress has always used all tools, including sex, to get what she wants.
Not really, only canonical examples of the Empress fucking around is because she wants to or needs kids, not as "tool".
>>
>>46796179

ok holden
>>
>>46796114
Well, going by 2e's End Time lore, she can mind-control all her direct descendant, is pointedly aware of that fact, an tried to tie all the DBs alive to her bloodline one way or another in case she would need to suddenly mind-control her empire.

Which is (imo):
1: Awesome.
2: Make an average sense as Exalted goes.
3: Awesome.
4: Triggered a huge number of SJWs and circlejerks.

That's what most of the complaints were about though. That the devs were being misogynistic by having her show her leg.

After the Abyssals preview they'd probably not want more bitching.
>>
>>46796179
Well if she "needs" kids then I'd imagine she has some purpose for them. Almost as if she were using them for her own purpose.
One might even say like a tool.
>>
>>46796205
>That's what most of the complaints were about though.
There were a lot of complaints about basically everything in that picture.

Right, some might argue that 'it doesnt add dice, it increases your strength, which increases increases your dice pool.'

So raising your strength from 5 to 10 using ISE would give you 5 extra dice from just being stronger, but those 5 dice count towards your normal limit of charm dice?

Charms like that seem unclear to me too, for a different reason. I get that the dots added to Strength count against the dice limit, but do they also increase the dice limit? Since it's Attribute + Ability.

The point is that Exalted never retreated from showing sexuality, and the Empress has been, explicitly, shown using everything she can have to gain leverage in her opponents: and that means, yes, sex, and legs.

You are trying very hard to find something to be offended in the name of the Empress in your head that could never do that, because you feel like Exalted should be like what you believe it should be, against evidences. You're being stupid on purpose. Please stop that.

>>
>>46799439
That doesn't make the price less ludicrous, honestly. Really, PDFs should be like 5-15 USD. Anything higher is asking a lot.
>>
>>46799463
>Really? So you can't combo Solar Melee defense with Single Point or Steel Devil any more?
You never could. MA Charms could never be used together with Melee or Brawl Charms.
Unless you mean you use them in addition and not together, which is obviously still possible.
>>
>>46799397
>There are also defensive brawl charms.
Yeah, but they're not amazing. The don't compare to the Dodge/Melee penalty negators.

Amusingly, what the Brawl defenses are best against is other Brawlers, since they have one of the only charms that actually prevent onslaught and another charm that improves their defense against a single target due to onslaught.
>>46799463
Indeed, they clarified the Reflexive rules to say that any Reflexive charm that boosts a static defense only works with the defense pool created by that skill. Means you can't combo Snake's entry charm with Dodge anymore.

Could archery and martial arts charms be mixed (Righteous Devil)? Also, to make a firewand attack with Righteous Devil, does it use archery or martial arts?
>>
>>46799534
The price isn't anything specific to OPP or the devs, for all their faults. It's the price of an RPG that size.

>>46799542
There's a sidebar in the MA chapter that says 'no'. You use Martial Arts (Righteous Devil) to attack with Righteous Devil.
>>
>>46799542
>Also, to make a firewand attack with Righteous Devil, does it use archery or martial arts?
Martial Arts of you use it with Righteous Devil, Archery if you use it with Archery.
Also where does the idea come from you could combine MA Charms with anything else?

Martial Arts Text since the first leak:
Martial Arts Charms are not compatible
with Brawl, or any other combat Ability, unless they explicitly state otherwise. A bare-handed attack cannot benefit from both the maiming precision of Snake style’s Crippling Pressure-Point Strike and the devastating force of the Heaven Thunder Hammer; wielding twin blades in the katas of Steel Devil style is entirely unlike the pragmatic fundamentals of the Melee Ability.
>>
>>46799542
>Could archery and martial arts charms be mixed (Righteous Devil)?

For a single attack no. MA Charms can NEVER be comboes with Charms from another ability, full stop.

> to make a firewand attack with Righteous Devil, does it use archery or martial arts?

Depends on you, you can do it with either one, it will have some visual differences, but again, you can never use Charms from MA and archery on the same action.
>>
You would absolutely think that Righteous Devil would us its MA ability, but is there anywhere that explicitly says that?
>>
>>46799652
Yeah, there's a sidebar.
>>
>>46799512
>clarified
Ah, right, that's what I had assumed anyway. I mean, if you're going to get Fivefold Bulwark Stance then you're going to get Melee 5 anyway, so it doesn't really matter whether you use your Melee or your MA:SPSITVS rating for parrying.
>>
>>46799652
Righteous Devil Style like all MAs is a Ability in its own right, so obviously you use the Ability to use the Ability.
>>
>>46799512
>Indeed, they clarified the Reflexive rules to say that any Reflexive charm that boosts a static defense only works with the defense pool created by that skill. Means you can't combo Snake's entry charm with Dodge anymore.

How does that work? Can you constitute Evasion with Snake Style dots now?
>>
>>46799588
>Also where does the idea come from you could combine MA Charms with anything else?

I believe people were, for example, using only Single Point Charms on an attack. Then, using only Melee Charms on a defense. Thereby not combining Charms from two different abilities.

However, they were still using Martial Arts (Single Point) as the ability for both the attack and the defense, because while there was a rule stating that Charms had to supplement an attack using the same ability that the Charm was derived from, there was no such provision for defense. Now there apparently is.

Basically, it saved a few ability dots because Melee's basic defense Charms are low on the tree.
>>
>>46799574

I'm calling bullshit still, It's a digital copy, I'm more put off by the fucking gall to offer a 115.00 copy of a book.

No
>>
>>46793297
To be frank i think that has more to do with the leaks than anything else. I mean if you didnt already know what was in the book im pretty sure you'd still feel pretty hyped
>>
>>46798693
The core got delayed because they went 'whopps we hate this core system better rewrite the whole thing'

>>
>>46799574
>The price isn't anything specific to OPP or the devs, for all their faults. It's the price of an RPG that size.

Meh. See, it's a digital copy that doesn't have a per-user cost, as far as OPP is concerned. They could charge something more reasonable -- as could a lot of games that charge a lot for their PDFs -- but don't because they know they can get away with it. Fact is, it's pretty expensive. Physical book, that's one thing, but a PDF? Meh.
>>
>>46799588
>Martial Arts Text since the first leak:
>Martial Arts Charms are not compatible
>with Brawl, or any other combat Ability, unless they explicitly state otherwise. A bare-handed attack cannot benefit from both the maiming precision of Snake style’s Crippling Pressure-Point Strike and the devastating force of the Heaven Thunder Hammer;

"Compatible" isn't clearly defined, though. Ok, so you can't use Melee and MA to enhance the same attack. What about when you're in your form - can you gain the passive scenelong benefits while using another ability? If you have Fivefolds Bulwark up, can you parry with MA? That was never clear in the backer PDF.
>>
>>46799839
Not him, but before the leak I had become completely unhype and actually forgot that 3e existed as a concept. Leak reignited my hype, Holden and Rich killed it again.
>>
>>46799802

So how can the reflexive Evasion booster work, if reflexives can only enhance static values created from their ability?
>>
>>46799891
>"Compatible" isn't clearly defined, though.
it directly says you can't use the Charms together nor can you use the MA Charms with another Ability.
I suppose technically it never directly said you can't use other Charms with the MA.Parry, but thats about it.
>>
>>46799839

Maybe, or I'd be super god damn leery about anything the so called "Ink Monkies" did after we all saw how they tried to "Fix" second edition.

Or I'd be rather mistrustful of the fact that second edition was broken to the degree that Jon Chung was even possible.

Or I'd be rather deeply concerned that it took 4 years to get the book on shelves. which makes me wonder if they would even get to the dragon blooded in 2017, let alone some my my favorite type like Alchemicals or Lunars.

But now I see what the leak created, and it looks allright right now, but it's a long edition for them to shit the bed like 2E, So I don't it's worth 40.00 for a PDF.
>>
I don't follow drama too heavily. Where did Holden touch all of you to make y'all hate him so much?
>>
>>46799873
Or it's because it's a product they worked to create and expect to receive a reasonable per-user recompense relative to the effort invested.

I'm all for shitting on OPP, but at least pick a line of attack that doesn't make you look like an entitled douchebag.
>>
>>46799968

Right in the Alchemicals book for second edition, and later in the so called fixes for 2E.
>>
>>46799931
It says "unless otherwise indicated", presumably those +1 to Evasion are supposed to be such indications.
>>
>>46799982
Wouldn't say entitled. I just know that it's way over the going market rate for that type of product. Listen, I'm a backer: I already got the book. That doesn't mean I don't have eyes and can't see a price tag that's too high. Made sense in KS because you get a lot of other shit and the promise of stretch goals, makes less sense in retail.

They never checked on, then reviewed and approved all that artwork and didn't give a shit.

>>46799982
They got that up front with a record-breaking kickstarter.

Their costs are more than covered.
>>
>>46800068
It's almost like the pdf is all of the actually meaningful parts of the product and doesn't automatically get it's price dropped to single digits just because it's easy to distribute.

Imagine that, having to pay for products in a capitalist society.

>>46800139
Yeah. From the backers. The backers got their cost covered. They didn't foot the bill for your poor ass.
>>
>>46796967

I wrote two pieces, but lately my life has been shattering.
>>
>>46800173
They'd might actually make more overall as the hardcore Exalted fans backed the KS and everyone else likely won't pay $30 on a PDF of a game infamous for bad mechanics.
>>
>>46800138

Then why in the hell, if they rushed the art through, did it take 4 years? I'm pretty sure I have the right to question my investment if I'm buying, just the PDF of a core book, when I can't even reliably say for sure that the line will get support in the from of source material, in 2017, let alone this year.

>>46800259

Also what this guy said, how could I in good conscious, if I didn't know about the leaks, drop that kind of money after second edition, and to a lesser extent first edition.
>>
>>46798503

Homebrew for alchemicals is out now.

Officically? No idea whatsoever.
>>
>>46800259
You want that to work as an argument, go hire a bunch of professionals to do market research. Gives facts instead of speculation that they *might* make more money that way, prove that it wouldn't result in just a few thousand more purchases and the loss of tens of thousands of dollars.
>>
>>46800027
Whiiiiiiich means you totally can use the Snake Evasion booster with Dodge Charms and the people whining are fucking dumb as usual.

Or to put it another way - no, you can't Fivefold Bulwark onto your Single Point Parry, because that is fucking stupid. But you CAN still Fivefold Bulwark your Melee Parry while you Steel Devil every last cunt to death. Just costs more shiny dots is all.
>>
>>46800330
>Then why in the hell, if they rushed the art through, did it take 4 years?
>The art took 4 years
It didn't. I agree with you though, having to put quick fixes on the initially rushed art to cover for their incompetence certainly helped elongate the overall long time to make the PDF's.
>>
>>46800259
It's funny you say that, because it's a top-seller on DrivethruRPG right now.
>>
>>46800385

>>
>>46800385

You might as well say it's a "New York Times Bestseller."
>>
>>46796056
Im gonna back the next kickstarter and theres NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP ME
>>
>>46800385

How is it calculated? Do all the backers who got their PDF through them count as "sales"?
>>
>>46800355
Don't really need to do that. It's kind of common sense. That kickstarter had 4,368 backers which is more than likely the lionshare of fans for the game since we're talking about a moderately popular game in a tiny, niche industry where making a couple thousand dollars is considered "making it" and not "just barely making it." Most PDFs have a price range between 5 and 15 USD with the exception being big name games with a lot of history and devoted fans because the expectation being they can get people to pay the inflated prices because of fandom. Exalted 3e burned through their fandom at the kickstarter: they may see some trouble keeping it going at that price.
>>
>>46799751

Im sad that if you take snake than one charm becomes pointless filler. The "if an attack meets your defense, you dodge it" one.
>>
>>46800434
Yes, they do count coupons as sales, from experience.
>>
>>46800434
Yes. It also favors Fast Sales. A.k.a., the more rapidly they are "bought", the more highly they are rated, regardless of volume.
>>
>>46800460

So the fact that its DTRPG best-seller has no bearing at all on whether non-backers are willing to pony up $30 for the game.

>>46801884
It wasn't WebMD, it was an oncologist who said that his symptoms were similar to lymphatic cancer.
>>
>>46801884
nice

>>46801885
It's true, it's true!

>>46801888
It was fake cancer. Or it was real cancer. But it was fake.

>>46801900
I'm not actually clear on whether he received a diagnosis from an oncologist or simply tried to self-diagnose. Because the story has changed.
>>
Is the game no longer shit now or is it still shit?
>>
>>46801954
>An oncologist, specifically trained for cancer
>Sought out before a general practice doctor, who would never jump to that as the first symptom for swollen lymph nodes

If WebMD tells you to see a specialist, and you make the decision based on that, you are getting your diagnosis from your confirmation bias after reading WebMD.
>>
>>46801856
There's no such thing as fake caner. Docs will still charge for checking and that sort of thing. I've had two family members have to pay for shit when it turns out they were fine all along
>>
>>46801988
No longer shit, merely okay.
>>
>>46801988

Still shit.

Find another game. Godbound is basically shaping up to be everything Exalted set out to be and more.
>>
>>46801988
The game's pretty great, only one or two people investing in hating the dev team think otherwise. Everyone else thinks it's the best edition of Exalted, and a pretty good game besides.
>>
>>46801933
Paradox' attitude is "we're going to let them fail on their own lack of merit."

They specifically made no guarantees they would renew the licenses for Exalted and they explicitly nullified the license for World of Darkness. The Storyteller/ing license apparently remains in play.

Considering Paradox/White Wolf has no interest in Exalted at all, this is the best you can hope for. Most people appear to be off the waterslide to the shitshow.
>>
>>46801971
Usually, any story that says otherwise is actively fucking with you.

I know the people in the Scion team saw him face-to-face and thought he really was dying.
>>
>>46802010
>>46802004 here, I agree with this. Godbound is really going to be the thing that beats Exalted at its own niche. The fact that it's d20 only makes this that much more hilarious.

Hey guys, Exalted related question really quick.

All over 4chan, you'll find various internet defense forces that really identify with their game. (factionalism)

They will do anything they can to downplay and distract from the weaknesses/bad areas of their game, and overemphasize the plusses.

Why is Exalted the only one where the creators are worshiped instead?

Is there something special for being in the Exalted Creator Tribe?
>>
>>46802023
Why no Exalted vidya gaems? An Exalted game would be tits.

>>46802040
Godbound is legit.
>>
>>46802040
Eh, disagree. I backed it, it looks decent, but it's still basically Epic Level OSR rather than something trying to be Exalted.

Plus the author's fascination with random generator tables. I'm not sure the people who wanted Exalted 3E to be run on Fate would be all that interested in an OSR game.
>>
>>46802066
You plan your illnesses out in advance?
>>
Godbound?
>>
>>46802104
It's not. People like the game but bitch about the devs endlessly.
>>
>>46802131
Exalted OSR game made by a well-known OSR guy whose games generally don't suck. OSR = makes games like its the 70s.

Ha ha what? Most people here wouldn't piss on Morke and Holden if they were on fire.
>>
>>46802112
Something Crusader Kings-esque in Exalted would result in giving literally all of my money to Paradox.
>>
>>46802104
Guy you're quoting here, I wouldn't piss on Holden if he was on fire. That aside, he made a pretty great game.
>>
>>46802140
I was speaking about 4chan specifically.

There are dozens, maybe a solid hundred posts in this thread that are very specifically defending the mistakes of the game's developers, while letting criticism of the game slide and go.

This is highly irregular for a fandom.
>>
>>46802131
An OSR game that has you playing demigods.

Which was interesting enough for me to back the KS when it was happening, but this and Pugmire are both d20 so aside from reading this in the bathroom I'm never going to get to run/play it.
>>
>>46802151

I'd piss on Morke

I think it's largely because people are tired of the fact that bitching about the devs being big meanies is overshadowing actual discussion of the game.
>>
>>46802112
>Why no Exalted vidya gaems? An Exalted game would be tits.
It was briefly mentioned they would look at the property, but I am pretty certain the tanked brand image will keep them away from it unless they take control of the license back. So...maybe in five years?
>>
>>46802152
That is literally what I was thinking of: Crusader Kings: Exalted.

OSR is pretty much just 'games made for 1E D&D'

Which yeah, is from the 70s, but it's for a very specific game rather than just a general theme.
>>
>>46802209
>I don't think you understand how cancer works.

I should, I've been on 4chan long enough.
>>
>>46802159
Most of the bitching about the game is opinions, the discussion of the devs behaviour is facts.

Aside from the kickstarter crew here now that the game is releasing, the /exg/ regulars actually like the game aside from Crafting and Charm 'bloat'. A few people with an axe to grind calling the system shit aren't worth arguing with.

I too hate the devs though.
>>
>>46802200
The problem is with OPP, the developers of 3e in particular, not Exalted itself.

It's not OSR, though. It's somewhere in between Red Book D&D and AD&D.
>>
>>46802234

I mean...3e introduces some rewrites of the setting. That's not really controversial, but everything surrounding 3e is damaged goods from a brand rep perspective.

Give it time and they might do it, but they're doing a Vampire Crusader Kings, so buckle up.
>>
>>46802269

You'll need Brawl.
>>
The best part of Godbound is all the art is going Creative Commons which will help with the creation of my Exalted rip-off to leach off Exalted's popularity.
>>
>>46802244
Well the Kickstarter said it was OSR so I don't fucking know!

It's inexplicable how many people try to start a slapfight between Exalted likers and Godbound likers given that they're meant for two very different audiences.

They'd be better off pretending to shill for Legends of the Wulin or Earth Scorpion's 2E hack or something.
>>
>>46802289

And charms.
>>
>>46802307
Legends of the Wulin and Weapons of the Gods were good, but Chuubo's is the best Exalted game, hands down.
>>
>>46802266
Do things go up in price when you get irate? It was $30 last I checked.
>>
>>46802282
Are the devs really that damaging to the brand? I just wanted something like 2E Exalted without bullshit like paranoia combat, and since I got something that passed that bar I'm happy enough.
>>
>>46802282
Vampire Crusader Kings is also a really cool idea, provided they go the CKII route of introducing game-changing new stuff every once in a while. And it gives time for Exalted as a brand to stop being a hot potato, I guess.

Any links to info on Vampire Crusader Kings?
>>
>>46802289
IT IS DONE!

My Solar's cock will make the sharpest sword seem flaccid!
>>
>>46802340
Yeah I normally ignore anything Jenna is involved with, but Chuubo is easily the best mystical kung fu engine available in English.
>>
>>46801988
I'm happy with the system and the setting now, instead of just the latter.
>>

>7 hours since release

I am honestly kind of surprised. I figured it would be out in minutes. Not that I care as I have my friend's copy but still this is humorous to me.
>>
>>46802392
It's been so long since that conversation happened that I'm going to go "I can't Google that for you."

Sorry.
>>
>>46802399
Would Exalted be Adventure Fantasy or Epic Fantasy genres in Chuubos? I know you want to say Epic, but it doesn't 100% follow the genre rules established as epic fantasy.
>>
>>46802340
>>46802399
Too bad I'm struggling to understand the Chuubo rules even with a physical copy in my hands...
>>
>>46802420
Dewatermarking will take a lot of time.
>>
>>46802372

I can do 100 levels of damage in one attack at the start of combat.

3e fixed nothing.
>>
>>46802347

That's still 10.00 more than I'm wiling to pay, 20.00 would be fine.
>>
>>46802420
It's watermarked, that takes time.

It takes forever for Fantasy Flight games to leak too.
>>
>>46802444
I only figured it out from having a friend run a game of Nobilis for me. Now, it all makes sense.
>>
>>46802450
>>
>>46802457
Doubt it, but please explain.
>>
>>46802457
If your GM is letting you sit, using Stealth charms forever, then it's not an encounter of value anyway, and he shouldn't be making you roll JB.
Which isn't a failure of the system. It's a failure of the ST.
>>
>>46796838
If they just updated the artwork to look like the 2e version it would be different, but they did that weird thing with the leg, it looks
wrong.
>>
>>46802104
>Why is Exalted the only one where the creators are worshiped instead?
2E was hell and they through us a lifejacket with 2.5
>>
>>46802518
It's a system failure too, of course, because mortals have capped values.
>>
>>46800096
Well if your Kickstarter backer, you bought into the "Idea" that EX3 will be out, if your pissed that you're not getting your book, You should've have waited until it dropped.
>>
>>46791785
In that particular case, it's because as a child, he got rescued by a guy with hair like that, and he styles his own hair after that childhood hero of his.

Also, what did you say about his hair?!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBZaipFcMWs
>>
>>46802661

Not a backer, I don't trust kickstarters in general. OOP Happened to be a shining example as to why.
