What's the oldest a game has gotten that you were apart of?
A year? Two? Longer?
>>
I'm coming up on seven years with the same GM and the same setting and the same character and we still even have a couple of the original party members

Maybe a few months, at the very most. None of the groups I've been in have ever lasted long.
>>
I've been in a few games that have lasted a couple of years, the longest is three or four years.
>>
>>46727393
Longest I played in was a year and a half. Longest I ran was a bit over a year.

I was also in a "game" that ran for over three years, but it wasn't technically one campaign, it was three consecutive Pathfinder games. It was the same GM, almost all the same players, and the same setting the whole time, but it was technically three campaigns, because we changed out all the characters twice and totally changed location and story. sort of weird.

I actually don't like super long games anymore, especially not as the GM. The games I've been running the past few years tend to range from 3-6 months in length. That's a good length to me. It allows you to have a lot of story and character development, but also have an arc and a resolution, and avoid either feeling like the game is going on forever with no progress, or that you are continually ending one plot only to replace it with another. Most importantly, as the GM, it's hard for me to stay really invested in a story and a setting for much more than a few months, and once my interest begins to wane, the game starts to suffer.

A year and a half.

The campaign ended where I wanted to end it.
Players made it a great ending.
>>
>>46727393
Five/four years
>>
>>46727393
1 day.

I swear to god, nobody will play with me more than once.
>>
>>46727393

>>

>>

>>

Six years. People came and went, timelines advanced, the world changed, and still it trudges on with the original five players plus three new-ish people. The system is no longer recognizable. Four of the five are now married, two with kids. The sixth is rather too preoccupied to play much of anything, but still comes along from time to time. Is good.

good god. story time anon. Is it an epic? or have you made absolutely no progress.

Viddy Well my droog. Story time incoming shortly. We'll start off with Ye Olde Dragon Filled Dungeon. This is set in our GM's homebrewed world, which contains stolen elements from Gazeteer and Faerun.

The Party.
Iron Bear, the Taltos (Mongolian) Shaman. and his bear cub Grahl.

Kirk the Theodin (Roman) Rogue, though he said he was merely a merchant blessed by many friends.

Sasha, Human Druidess and her (original) companion the Wolf White Fang.

Ryu the Swordsman from Kara Tur, called himself a Samurai whatever the hell that shit is.

And Lastly my guy, Arioch the Kazmur (Landlocked Spain) Wizard and Doctor. With my Magen bodyguad (Magen are a 3rd Party precursor to the Warforged)

In our first session, which I tragically had to leave due to work calling me in. We were in a tavern out in the middle of nowhere when Guards, bearing the insignia of the local lord had attacked us unprovoked, we slew a few of them and fled into the forests. During our flight we encountered a band of slaughtered elves, one of them was still alive. Deciding to save him we discovered he was the fourth son of a minor elven noble. Tending his wounds and escorting him home we were granted sanctuary in their hidden city under Three Spoken conditions and one unspoken one. First, we would perform 10 tasks for them (I was gone by this point and was only ever informed we had to do A single task) Second, we never reveal their location or existence (As High elves in this world were considered Extinct) and Thirdly, to not bed their men or women. The unspoken condition was that if we couldn't keep it in our pants to at least not knock anyone up, this is important later.

We were gifted some minor trinkets and favors by the father of the Elf we saved. And then we were off on our First task (and only as far as I knew). Which was to reclaim some holy objects from a fallen city of theirs and if at all reasonably practical to reclaim their city.So we continue in part 2.

I DMed a campaign on and off from August 2013 to March 2016. On and off because the players and I are all college students and we didn't play during breaks.

A band of heroes explored the underdark, destroyed an evil artifact, defeated a black dragon, and spared civilization from a united monstrous horde. Then they went to the Nine Hells, murdered some high-ranking devils, helped out some innocent people along the way, and rescued a former party member from a pit fiend in his fortress on the third layer.

It was a grand time.
>>
Played in a few that lasted one year and ran another that lasted two.

They were all good times and whatnot, but I've started to believe that shorter is better. 3 to 4 months has gotten the best results from my experience.

Over many days we traveled and befriend a lone Wildling (minor fae creature. Size Tiny) named Je'eeb, we called him Jeb. He guided us through the woods and a nasty swamp filled with Lizard men. Eventually we reached the City and gazed upon it's ruined splendor, destroyed buildings reclaimed by nature. And a band of Orcs who we shortly found out were in service to a Green Dragon. After a brief battle and a narrow escape we hid in the catacombs and began making our way to the Temple proper. Dodging Orcs and the dragon shooting his breath weapon into the holes that were present. Entering the temple and fighting our way through Orcs and Hobgoblins we made it to the to main altar area and barricaded ourselves inside while we searched for the few items we were after..

Finding them and some quick prayers to the God this temple once belonged to we were given the smallest amount of divine assistance from the nearly dead god, we found a secret tunnel and fled into the woods. Unfortunately the dragon was chasing our poor level one asses. So we ran through the dense forest, the only thing keeping us from certain death was the cover provided by the trees and a few cheap spells before we hit a raging river. Dragon certain doom, River, good chance of death but not 100%. So in the drink we went, where The wizard proceeded to find every last rock and just about died. Through some dark sorcery I do not understand we managed to limp back to the Elves alive and with our precious cargo. Our wildling scout asked us to help out his people and so once we were rested we took off to assist with his problems.

Will continue a bit later, ahve some stuff to handle, lemme know if you want more DnD or if y'all want Superhero shenanigans.

Metal Rogue Solid
>>
>>46727393
Almost a year.
>>

Metal Rogue Solid. This was a few sessions after our escape from the Dragon and part of the mission to help our Wildling friend with his problems. Turns out a Cult of Demon Worshippers were encamped near his people. We tracked down their camp, noted that there were a couple hundred of them so we waited until nightfall and sent int he Rogue to scout it out and report back to us.

Kirk had other ideas about how to go about this plan. So he crept his way inside their ranks adn began to slit throats one by one. Starting with the perimeter guard and working his way in slowly. A few he drug off into the bushes to "ask" some questions before sending them to their gods. Meanwhile, back in the woods watching is the rest of the party anxiously awaiting the information. Five more hours of this. As he systematically killed EVERY LIVING THING in the camp aside from the High Priest. He then ninja'd himself back to the party and dropped a sack of loot in the middle of us.

We then took off to do battle with the High priest. Which was a long battle with an Evil Cleric. The Druid got annihilated by a nasty Inflict Wounds.

The Pathfinder PbP I'm in is coming up on three years, by the calendar> But that doesn't count the various breaks the GM has had to take for RL reasons.

Right so there we were, 100 miles into a desert. Pretty much out of supplies, only magically conjured food and water left to us. Been battling a band of Githyanki/zerri could never remember who were the bad ones. And so we come across a patrol. With an Adult Red Dragon, a feral one. So we prepare to the battle as they rush towards us. Our fighter utters a prayer to his god of Battle and War and Carnage. (Our gm allowed anyone to pray and there was a chance something could happen if one was pious enough, there was a point system to show ones piety). And so he called upon his god in this most desperate hour of need. "GRANT US GLORY IN BATTLE!" And so his god, the greatest warrior to have ever drawn breath in history looked upon the field of battle. Six Gith, One dragon vs a dozen 14-16 level adventurers and said that there was no glory in such a weak and lopsided battle. And then there was 11 more Dragons. We lost two PC's that battle. Alexis Drake the Bard and our Cleric, Holy Bishop Andrew Cross.

Some time later, towards the end of the current storyline our fighter prayed for a Challenge worth of remembrance. A Pit Fiend somehow noticed us in the midst of the battle and came over to say Hello. After that anytime he started tos ay 'I pray to my god" he had shit thrown at him. Usually pillows. One time a open can of beer.

So far, 2 years, but we had one that was three before that. We meet pretty regularly, but it's been a bit more difficult as of late.
>>
>>46727393
Five years. We had to move online because how we started spreading out.

One member caught an IED in the sandbox, and another got shot over twenty dollars when the mugger got jumpy. Game didn't last much longer after that.
>>
A year and a bit for an AD&D2e game, a little over two for a Traveller game.
>>
>>46739497
True to the source material.
>>
>>46727393
Well, with basically the same core group, I've been storytelling since 2013.

It is the same continuum, but some of the heroes have since retired or gone off to greener pastures.

Right now there's one hero who's been with the current big Campaign for 1.5 years, and another character who'se been with the group from the very fucking beginning but took a break inbetween.

So, 3 Years plus and counting
>>
>>46727393
All games I've been a player in have dissolved in a few months, usually to GM/DM losing interest in the system or setting or module and suggesting something else.
HOWEVER, the game I'm GMing has been going on for about a year, year and a half, and I will hold this fucking thing together as long as my players are still enjoying it, even if there's only two of them.
