>Southern Kingdoms
Well in short, they're vicious, unpredictable, and completely terrifying. My people have a long history of squaring off against these monsters. In only a small amount of cases have we ever captured any. For the most part we just killed them and that's worked out pretty well so far. However, I do see the benefit in this mission and what we can discover about these things will surely be helpful.
>>
>>46407445

We would be amenable to this outpost. Are the Southern Kingdoms agreed?

In other news, we would like to offer the Southern Kingdoms increased granite and steel shipments to aid in their defenses against the Wendigo.

Perhaps, but numbers are not the most important thing when facing the Wendigo.

I would also like to increase the trade between the North and South! The South has already made great strides with the Southern Trade Initiative, and we would like to spread this prosperity.

Currently, we are greatly interested in your leather and wool, and we have many fine metals, marble, limestone, granite, and gems. We also make excellent steel to aid in your military expeditions.

In order to facilitate trade, we would like to build a trading port on one of your southern isles. It would allow our sailing ships a place to rest and replenish supplies, and it would facilitate trade not only with our nation, but with the entire Southern Trade Initiative.

We would, of course, welcome your trading post as well!

I hate this map because it makes zero geological or cosmological sense. That's not how plate tectonics work, in fact they generally work in the opposite way.

While I understand that's the point, the way the biomes are laid out takes little consideration of how the earth's tilt towards the sun effects the environment.

Granted, I limited myself by choosing to be underground, but I still feel like claiming every resource and technology under the sun is a bit much. Oppana had some wars, I guess? I'm pretty sure they fought on the Black Isles. Then, there was some tension between them and Marithia, but that ended easily.

The South banded together into a massive economic alliance called the Southern Trade Initiative, now including the Southern Kingdoms, Shi' dik, Míntha, and Eloudice - a nation descended from wizards whose reach exceeded its grasp.

Hinttervold is an isolationist community of mages that have offered to train other nations' mages with strings attached in order to maintain neutrality.

At the moment, several nations are hunting Wendigo.

>The Ferron Plutocracy.

A small confederations of island city-states and minor duchies whose population consists of a mixture of 50% Humans, 10% sea-faring Minotaurs, 5% cutesy harpies, ~15% goblin slaves, ~15-20% various other sentient, non construct species, and a small but extremely powerful collection of undead Lich-Lords who control all land and political power within the states.

It's culture is mainly sea-faring, but many of its residents consider the transition to death a sacred time in ones life, so most healthcare is restricted to prevention of disease and harm, rather than treatment. It's powerful undead upperclass stems from a select few human warlords who overthrew the merfolk holding many of the lands the ferronese currently occupy and sought to keep their power by converting themselves into liches, choosing to throw away their humanity rather than let the power they worked so hard to achieve slip out of their hands due to the atrophy of age.

We have relatively low resources due to the fact we are rather small, with most of our income is from trading and selling the magical artifacts our illustrious lich-lords craft.

Our technologies moslty involve things involving ship-building and bronze-work. Our most advanced technology would be a Bronze alloy infused with magic making it incredibly light and granting its user incredible strength and unending stamina for as long as he submits his will to an undead captain, making himself essentially an extension of his commanders will.

Put me up north of the mountains above where the Bering Strait would be.

Upper Snowvakia: A land of snow, ice, and the occasional village eking out an existence way up there. Loosely united under one banner, the Snowvakian way of life focuses more on figuring out how to survive, and not on the finer things in life, leading to the sorry state of Snowvakian """"Culture"""". Fortunately, the horrible hundred-year blizzard keeping them isolated has finally let up!

>Government
Due to the isolated and sparsely populated nature of Snowvakian towns, authority is concentrated mainly on the local level, though all villages send representatives to a larger administration.

>Religion
There's spirits and gods everywhere, but they're mostly asshole Ice and Snow ones. The Snowvakians tend to worship the ones that keep their families from freezing and their towns from starving.

>Technology
Intense necessity breeds intense innovation compared to your average snowbound society. Snowvakian technology isn't known for complexity so much as durability.

All the better to survive with.

>Culture
Snowvakian culture is mostly drinking, making sure your family is okay, and then drinking.

>Military
While each village has some guards...who would ever WANT to invade Snowvakia?

>Population
A fertile land, Snowvakia is not.

>Resources
Fish, Lumber, Crops, and a mystical rock used by wizards to keep warm. All pretty standard resources.

>Magic
It's focused mostly on Fire, Fertility, and keeping ICE SPIRITS from attacking.

Greetings, we would like to discuss an alliance, this would not only expand our territories and potential trade routes, it would also expand our military forces, technological progress, magical prowess and culture. We have a strong military force, minerals that could be forged into weaponry and armor and advancements in metallurgy, Doplanovka has artillery, Paglia has agricultural resources in Cattle and Crops, and Horses for transportation on land and into battle, and the Great Islands have advanced technology and the help of the Blackrock Islands, for additional military power.

Names should work again, I believe.

Bao-Ren clans are revealed to dwell much further north than previous believed, though the culture of the northern ice-dwellers is similiar but not identical to those of the Blackrock Islands. Kayaks replace dugout canoes, and seals and whales make up a large majority of the orcs' diet. They are notable hairer than their southern kin, grey flesh covered thick white body hair.

A warband of Bao-Ren likewise ply the waters of the Great Northern Ocean and end up on the far coast, establishing a small community on the cold peninsula, making a rough living in the remote region. Raiders and traders tease at the northern borders of the UDK regularly.

>>46409678
While not asked for their opinion, the Bao-Ren do relish raiding the Ana'tres, not only due to their close proximity to the storm-wracked islands, but also due to being one of the few threats worthy of giving the Bao-Ren true combative rivals.

Corpses of the scorpionfolk are a prized commodity, being used much as the native beasts and monsters are as they are crafted into armor and crude weaponry. They are no godlings, but rather animals that walk like men.

You know, while I have my doubts that it would ever happen, it seems like the Bao-Ren, Ana'tres, and Wendigo at least do share the fact that they are the setting's most dominant monstrous races.
>>
Might be a setting, if it wasn't was for the Shit Dick Dwarves, their cock-shaped territory, and their mighty city of In the Butt.

Thank you for your agreements. In addition, we hear that the south of Paglia is under attack from Wendigos? Doplanovka could potentially build walls with high quality metal from our mountains, and if we can get Great Islands to join us, we can also use their fortification designs to further protect us, and potentially advance fortification technology.
>>46413815
That`s why I was planning on allying with the Great Islands, due to the fact that would by proxy, have us ally with the Bao-Ren Clans, due to us now being allies to your worshipped.

Eh, not really, The Ana`tres are not mindless savages, it`s mainly due to Bao-Ren attacks and a potential war from Oppana, that they have such a focus for war. If they were allied with the Great Islands, they`d have to deal with less attacks from Blackrock Islands and could potentially advance culturally.
Which is also one of the reasons which I want to ally with Great Islands, Doplanovka, and Paglia.
>>
>>46414181
To be honest, even if you were allied with the Great Islands, without a lot of convincing by the part of the Islanders, the Bao-Ren wouldn't really let up in their raiding of your shores what so ever. You are animals to be hunted, a savage foe to test one's mettle against.
>>

Then I guess we`ll build a wall.

>>
>>46414309
More advanced walls, the current PDA alliance will redefine walls and wall technology.
>>
>>46414338
It isn't much of Alliance, though. Doplanovka agreed to opening trade, while Paglia specifically said they had no intentions of entering into anything resembling close relations but simply trading goods.

The Great Islands would not be willing to share it's accrued naval advances, but would be open to an exchange of our knowledge of sea-side fortifications for your improved metal working techniques.

That also reminds me of what we would be at, considering our almost complete focus on the water, we would be fielding something similar along the lines of a schooner design for trade along our eastern shores, for the speed of getting the hell out of dodge, and something more like a carrack for going out onto the open ocean.
I had the idea in mind for a cutter, but that is vastly ahead of the times and would be pretty bullshit even for a faction with an affinity for naval action.

That sounds pretty fantastic, and the Bao-Ren would be happy to muscle others out of the waters to help you set up your monopoly. And I reckon a cutter would work well enough, given you are the most technologically advanced civilization bar none.

Also, one of the larger Bao-Ren beseech the Great Islanders to allow them to ride on your White-Winged Seabirds to travel farther than our own crude vessels can take us. We can offer our services as guards and warriors to protect both your vessels and your settlements far across the Great Ocean and beyond.

We will even give our word that these marines swear not to eat the flesh of Godlings until their service is finished, though they will wish to perform native rites to beseech the spirits of the sea and whatever lands they find themselves upon for safety.

>One of the larger Bao-Ren clans beseech the Great Islanders to allow them to ride on your White-Winged Seabirds to travel farther than our own crude vessels can take us. We can offer our services as guards and warriors to protect both your vessels and your settlements far across the Great Ocean and beyond.

It's not like we lack experience in arctic travel.
>>
>>46419466
And we are still roleplaying the war, are we not?
>>46419643
If that's how you feel, then okay man.
>>
>>46419689
Um... they can just head directly North and approach them from that direction...
>>
>>46419422
Now that the conflict has ended, are you more open to full participation?
>>
>>46419743
>>46419689
Sounds a bit like those Snowvakians are attempt to skirt Marithian authority. A dangerous precedent if you allow them to get away with it.

>>46419747
>>46419747
If you wish. Oppana can handle the treaties and agreements as they cut up the northern territory. Perhaps now the hot-blooded upstarts have learned their lesson, and to always give deference to the Protectors of the Great Islands when dealing with the Great Northern Ocean.

Rolled 5 + 10 (1d10 + 10)

>>46419840
If we're doing the war via multiple rolls, it is 29 to 31 currently.
>>
So, is there any agreement on whether or not we should be increasing our stats after major accomplishments? Like, roll 1d10+relevant stat and if you break ten you can spend an extra point? Because I've made trade deals out the wazoo, and I'd like my resource and population to reflect this.
>>
>>46419888
We aren't. >>46419466
>>
>>46419908
Maybe. For example. With the addition of several military bases and troops. Do I add 1 to military.
>>
>>46419923
It was only you who decided that, and additionally, a prior battle had several rolls, so why wouldn't a war?
>>
>>46419840
Skirt Marithian authority, charitably offer preserved food and seeds for a crop that can grow up here...

>>46419908
I'd just like to know if my Ice-Fort-Harbors are a thing yet.
>>
>>46419951
Exactly. Or if you have a military victory over someone, you can increase your culture or resources.

Given Ana'tres' stance of not suspending it's campaign against the Bao-ren, we are still hesitant to come into the fold. Unless they clarify, we will have to decline.

>>46419840
>>46419888
And I wonder given that any naval action would be a combined effort between us two in the same area would our dice rolls stack together against Ana'tres should we continue?

>>46419908
I also think I should get a plus to my tech and possibly military given previous actions.
>>
>>46419965
If you draw them and roll, I don't see why they wouldn't be.
>>
>>46419908
>>46419923
>>46419951
>>46419959
>>46419965
Ah, the inevitable disagreements and shitflinging when involved anything remotely competitive without clearly defined rules.
>>
>>46420018
Maybe we should come up with defined rules.
>>
>>46419951
>>46420010
So, 1d10 plus relevant stat, break 10 to improve in a meaningful way?
>>
>>46420010
You'd basically just join in with Oppana and us, in a 3-way gangbang.

>>46419908
Honestly, I'm sort of leery on any method of increasingly stats if only because it ends up in a circle-jerk of people trying to boost themselves and ending up at disproportionate states compared to people that might not be posting as actively. The stats offer a pretty good understanding of the rough priorities of various states, and I'd argue that everything else is mostly just fluff.

Just my $.02.
>>
>>46420071
Seems like it could snowball pretty hard that way.

Maybe 1d10+ relevant resources/magic/cultural ideas/tech?
>>
>>46420071
The issue with this is it vastly prioritizes people in their strongest stats. So it becomes hilariously easy to go from 9 to 10, while it'd take forever if you were looking to go from 1 to 2. A civilization would find it almost impossible to advance past a tribal culture to anything more developed, while it'd be a piece of cake to go from rich to owning the world's water.
>>
>>46420083
Oppana left already, and my rolls are only two less to 11 higher than yours.
>>46420100
I think we should do something higher than 1d10, maybe 1d20 to 1d50.
>>
>>46419711
The royal house naturally does not intend to opress trade only disliking the thought of foreing power having a direct say on a port inside our borders. This caused a protest from the representatives of guilds and while we could ignore them we prefer to let our citizens have peace of mind.

The royal house also suggest that the STI reconsiders and re-reads how we previously WORDED our suggestion and hopes they will be able to have new insight on the agreement or shall we send a member of court with more to negotiate in person?
>>
Whatever we do we will need a new thread.
>>
>>46420083
>>46420120
That's an excellent point from the thoughtful orc delegation.

Without consensus, I don't think anyone should boost their stats.

PS: someone already did this twice

Mark the sealevel carefully.
Remove all the water. Store safely. We'll need it soon. Some of it.
Now mark the altitude of every point on Earth and... turn it inside out. Make every depth a height, and every height a depth.
Now pour seawater into the continental basins until they fill to the old coastline. Since the continents are much, much smaller (and shallower) than Earth's seas (surprised, you ol' land animal? Do you admit to a little dirtocentrism?), you'll have a LOT of water left over. Hang onto it.
For islands and seamounts and undersea ridges, which are now deep pits and long valleys, use your judgment (and the likely local climate) to decide how deep to fill them: in dry zones, basins with small, salty seas at the bottom make sense, perhaps no bigger than their original coastlines; but in rainy zones, make them true lakes--fill them to the brim! You'll be shocked how big some of these "lakes" are--seas, really, far bigger than the Mediterranean. Be patient--there are thousands of seamounts, invisible to Earth dwellers, that suddenly become deep lake-filled valleys on Inversia. They're vital to the climate, and ecology, and our hopes for intelligent life on these vast raised ocean-beds. Without them, Pacifica for example would be an unbroken desert bigger than all the land on Earth, bigger than the entire surface of Mars. Why desert? Well, it's flanked by high coastal ranges cutting off rain from the Asian, Australian and American Oceans. But Pacifica's plateau IS broken up by the new Hawaiian and Rapa Nui Oceans and thousands of great lakes. Your task is to figure out HOW great. Same goes for Atlantis and Indiana. Their ex-ridges, now great sinuous rifts, will fill to brimming (so yes, there's still an Atlantic! Or at least an Azorean Sea.)
Speaking of Mars--pour your leftover water on it. Or on Venus. They both need it more than you.

second one
http://www.worlddreambank.org/A/ABY.HTM

Remove the world's oceans (keep them handy. You'll need them soon.)
Now mark the altitude of every point on Earth, and make every depth a height, and every height a depth. Our ocean trenches are now huge mountain ranges; our ranges, trenches. Rugged, isn't it? It's as if you'd turned Earth inside out like a glove...
Now pour your stored seawater back into the new seabeds--the Eurasian Sea, the African Sea, the American Seas. But they'll fill up fast. You'll reach the old coastlines with water to spare. Lots to spare. Keep pouring. Soon you'll be refilling the seabeds, and wondering how much land there'll be. Soon you'll be adding "if any." Keep pouring! Don't hold any back.
Look for land. Good luck. Most of our abyssal plains, which you'd think would form new continents, are just shallower seas; the bits that do rise above water are low and broken. Only 12% of Earth's surface is land! That's all.

Apologies if there is some kind of misunderstanding. Let's look at your terms:

>We shall establish a trading post on the south border and begin planning a relevant port and plan basic roads and we will build and hold control of the port.
I took this to mean that you would maintain rigid control over the port and the goods moving through it. This runs counter to the purpose of our STI trading posts, which exist to facilitate free travel and trade.

>However royal house will appriciate donations and investments for the project and will look most favorably those who do and will not leave them unrewarded.
This seems like you wish for us to help fund a port to which we may or may not have full access, which is a bit one-sided.

Now, my impression of those statements might be totally off the wall, but we have no interest in partially participating in trade. We, as a people, are fully devoted to open trade.

>The royal house naturally does not intend to opress trade only disliking the thought of foreing power having a direct say on a port inside our borders. This caused a protest from the representatives of guilds and while we could ignore them we prefer to let our citizens have peace of mind.
I see the problem.

First, your artisans and merchants only stand to profit from the STI. Facilitating free trade means that they will have access to our goods, our shipping lanes, and our foreign markets. They have no reason to be upset whatsoever.

Second, your worries make me think we should discuss logistics. We have no intention of policing or otherwise imposing our laws on a city in your borders. Being an STI trading post simply means that you agree to allow our merchants free access to the port. That means the freedom to move along trade roads without harassment, the freedom to transport goods without an undue tax burden, and the freedom to operate independently in shipping lanes.

You would be free to suggest fair tax rates and operate under your own laws.
