Evil party.jpg

I want to build a rival party that will plague my players throughout their campaign.
The players all some version of good with a party make up of:
Dhampir Cleric (Basically blade)
Undine Druid
Half-Wizard
I'm thinking the rival party will have a Drow necromancer, a cool vampire character that can challenge a cleric, and maybe a witch to be the rival of the druid.
Thoughts?
>>

What's the setting?
>>
>>46213470
>>>/aco/455094

So are they actually together or are you guys just creeps
>>
>>46213573
Standard golarion, though the campaign is in Lastwall. It focuses on the party dealing with the Whispering Way as they attempt to revive Tar-Baphon.
>>
>>46213498
That seems like it's more a matter of girth, at that point.

Massive slut halfling can probably take 7in deep x 2in wide vaginally, maybe 10in deep x 1.5in anally.
Comfortably, that is.
>>
>>46213498

More than you'd think, because any Halfling involved in "big folk" society will inevitably have "the talk" about having sex with a human, and that will end up being a discussion on technique and position.

A Halfling slut that knows her way around a dick would probably be able to handle 6 inches.

Which isn't a lot, and it isn't meant to be, Halfling/Human sex should be, by it's nature, awkward and unfulfilling.

>>
>>46213833

An Enlarged Halfling is functionally identically to a human, that's kinda their thing.
>>
>>46213816
"You cannot bull rush a creature into a square that is occupied by a solid object or obstacle. If there is another creature in the way of your bull rush, you must immediately make a combat maneuver check to bull rush that creature. You take a –4 penalty on this check for each creature being pushed beyond the first. If you are successful, you can continue to push the creatures a distance equal to the lesser result."

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Bull-Rush

Read the fucking rules if you're running a game, god damn it.
>>
>>46213816
>If there is another creature in the way of your bull rush, you must immediately make a combat maneuver check to bull rush that creature. You take a –4 penalty on this check for each creature being pushed beyond the first. If you are successful, you can continue to push the creatures a distance equal to the lesser result. For example, if a fighter bull rushes a goblin for a total of 15 feet, but there is another goblin 5 feet behind the first, he must make another combat maneuver check against the second goblin after having pushed the first 5 feet. If his check reveals that he can push the second goblin a total of 20 feet, he can continue to push both goblins another 10 feet (since the first goblin will have moved a total of 15 feet).

>>46213902
This...is an interesting idea. I kinda like the idea of an evil little shit of a halfling. The idea behind having one of them be a vampire was to have a full blood brother to the dhampir, they share a father but the dhampir hates undead.
I'm also wondering about the makeup class wise for the rivals, since all of the players are tier 1 casters.

>>
>>46214062

Porting over Dungeon Crasher from 3.5 would be a start, but CMB is a pretty lousy system since it seems custom-designed to almost always be worse than just fucking hitting the guy.
>>
>>46214008
>he asks about how bull rush interacts with running into other creatures

It's not my purview whether or not he follows the RAW, but spoonfeeding the basic rules is tantamount to paying lip service to Asmodeus. All hail.

Grapple: If your CMB beats the opponent's CMD, you both become grappled.

While grappled, you can roll your CMB against CMD again as a standard action. If you fail nothing happens (they can try to break free on their own turn with their CMB versus your CMD, or use these options against you), and if you pass, you can use your move action to move both of you at half your speed or use it to make both of you prone, and also do any one of these:
>Beat CMD: Bash your foe for 1d6 + Str or your light weapon's damage, whichever is higher. If they are prone you bash for 1d8 + 1.5 x Str.
>Beat CMD+2: Silence your foe, rendering him unable to speak or make noise. This also begins to suffocate him for 1d6 + Str nonlethal.
>Beat CMD+4: Throw your foe, rendering him prone in a square up to 10ft away, or 5ft if he is 1 size category higher than you. If he hits an object he takes 1d6 + Str; if he hits a person along the way they both take 1d6 + Str nonlethal and both fall prone in that space. You can't throw if you are prone or if the foe is more than 1 size category above you. If they are prone you can throw them twice as far and they can collide with more than one creature on their way.
>Beat CMD+6: Bind your opponent's limbs until the end of your next turn after this. If they are prone you can tie them up with rope.
>Beat CMD+8: Hit the foe against other creatures or objects, dealing 1d6 + 1.5 x Str in damage to both targets after a successful attack roll and enabling you to roll to begin a grapple on the other one. You can release current target as a free action if you want, or you can try to grapple both simultaneously - take a -10 to your grapple checks while doing this, and on your turns you can use a standard action grapple check against both CMDs at once to determine what you can do to each foe (you can take different actions with them if you like). If either foe is prone, the other becomes prone too.

Not very good, since they only have 3/4 BAB growth. They also need a lot of feats to do well at it.

Play a Slayer instead.

Also, why do you want to be a Ninja?

You get 3/4 BAB and no way to compensate. Taking extra penalties to hit to fight is roughly as viable as shoving your own knives up your asshole and only slightly less agonizing.

Question about the mystic!

Normally you have to be able to cast the spell to create a spell trigger or spell completion item, can that be ignored with the mystic's Mystic Artifice ability?

I imagine the relevant text is
>When attempting to create a magical item for which she does not possess a prerequisite spell, the mystic can attempt to replicate the spell through her innate power with a Spellcraft check

I'm assuming that means they can, but I wanted to doublecheck.

Nah. That's just typical evil enemies. They'll get killed unless you handwave the fuck out of things, which is wrong and antifun.

Instead, what plagues them should be.....

fabulous.

Rather than direct opposition, they hound the party's achievements, always one-upping them in-town. No, this party isn't better or stronger, but while you're lugging back that dragon corpse, they've already told the whole story to *anyone* that may listen, extolling the party but also propping up their own contributions.

They will obtain glory on the PCs coattails and enjoy the loftiest of 2nd places, no matter how much shit their spreading your tales far and wide may cause to flow back onto you.

Fun fact about Ori's mutations: Orichalcus was originally born with no magical aptitude; however, the two year exposure from the Mourning's magical fallout caused something within him to manifest. Because this wasn't natural to him, the first few times his body produced Animus it physically tore through his skin, leaving behind the "Animus vents" that mark his face and body. His left eye is the only other thing that has mutated from the Mourning, and though it had developed a second iris and the white of his eye turned black, it hasn't displayed any actual benefit or hindrance. His eye simply acts as physical proof that he bore witness to the events of the Mourning despite not remember what had happened.

>>
>>46216791
Use Path of War instead of Paizo's martial classes. Warlord is basically a more exciting and powerful Fighter, and Warder with the Hussar archetype can do the Cavalier role better than a Cavalier does.
>>
>>46216795
It's a wizard archetype that grants an apprentice wizard that eventually scales up to be a Leadership cohort.

>>46216811
Because...
>Paladins are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, with all types of armor (heavy, medium, and light), and with shields (except tower shields).

>>46216791
The trick when players are using those bunch of classes is a mixture of things; give them some awesome equipment ahead of the WBL curve and they should feel awesome, and every once in a while throw out enemies and the like that the wizard/cleric/whatever can't deal super effectively with. As >>46216818 said, golems are a prime example of a creature you can use to give the warrior-types some time to shine.

That said, if your casters are reasonable folks, make sure they're aware of the paradigm; you're trying to keep the meleers feeling relevant, so get the casters in on that. Make them play with the team by providing buffs and crowd control to set up kills.

For the 1st- and 2nd-level characters, get a bunch of martial types kitted out with longbows. If possible have them be PoW Warlords with the archery discipline.

Yeah, I'm definitely planning to go over each of the Path Abilities to look for anything super-game-breaking, but I figure most things should be okay. I don't mind there being some spells above 3rd level, as long as they're not the ones that rewrite the setting and whatnot. Mostly, I'll just make it clear to the players that their choices need to be discussed beforehand, and that certain types of spells (teleportation, for example) are going to be unavailable, even if they could be gained through mythic ranks.

(It's a no-magic-item world, using Automatic Bonus Progression, so Legendary Items will definitely be a no-go. The mythic immortality stuff will require a mythic character of equal rank to kill you, rather than an artifact.)

Question.

When an eidolon dies, it goes back to its home plane and needs to be summoned back the next day with half health.

What about the progenitor's construct? It says "it's always active and doesn't need to be summoned." Does that mean I cannot dismiss it to a home plane or summon it back after it dies? Surely it's not an immortal planeless being...
>>
>>46218062

>>
>>46218062
That's a third-party product most of us have probably never heard of. Just for you, I downloaded the book and read over it. There is literally no answer to your question. They literally just never got around to detailing what happens when your construct dies.

In the absence of any actual rules, I would use
>This ability functions like the summoner's eidolon ability
and just say that if it dies, you can build a new one next morning. Because the alternative is that when it dies, it's dead forever.

It doesn't have a home plane, since it's a construct you built on THIS plane.

Depends on the campaign.

According to the rulebook, you don't have to have a patron diety.

If the Paladin does have a patron, it sort of falls under the "Associate" rule:

>Associates: While she may adventure with good or neutral allies, a paladin avoids working with evil characters or with anyone who consistently offends her moral code.
>>
>>46218668
"Associates" isn't a rule, or part of the paladin code; it's its own section.

>>46218668
There's no written penalty for it so it's just a teeny bit of fluff that can be ignored.

However upon further inspection it seems that I only get the arcane spells and not the bloodline shit from my casting class with EK.

Is this correct?

EK seems like shit desu but I've already got the arcane armor and some other combat feats and a +1 mithral breastplate so we're pretty committed to this path already.

You could go Dragon Disciple instead. It gives you more strength and some Con. Also advances your bloodline. Due to shenanigans, you can pick up pretty much all of your non-dragon bloodline, AND get pretty much all the dragon stuff too.

You'd need to be crossblooded though, to have your existing bloodline and Draconic.

Okay, if you stick to Paizo stuff - first, give them decent loot. Casters can "make"their own bonuses, martials need them from elsewhere. Still, levels 6-10 are ok.

Fighter - use a lot of the unchained stuff (combat stamina being free as recommended for them, +2 background skill points, option to VMC at the cost of some of their feats (fighters have a fair few feats). I am interested in buffing bravery as right now it is pretty bad compared to other 1st level scaling class features and is kept only for the AWTs. My idea would be something called indomitable that adds half the fighter level to saves vs fear and stamina pools, and lets you pay stamina points up to that bonus as an immediate action to get the corresponding bonus to a save. Use half that bonus for any AWT or other trick that works off bravery to keep it from messing up with other martials.

Also, weapon training gives an insight bonus to AC when being attacked with such weapons. The defensive weapon training feat adds to that (I would keep it to +2 for all, since the additional +1 or more is rolled into the feature)

My idea is to give the class a more defined niche as a weaponmaster with a very developed style and a surprising focus and resilience (a reminiscence of previous editions when they had fairly good saves). That said, fighters have received a fair few buffs from Unchained and the weapon master's handbook, so I am looking forward to the armor handbook.

Cavaliers I am less used to, since I often just go for the daring champion route. For the standard cavalier, I would say ensure the mount is not a disadvantage by having plenty of fights where the player can go mounted (less of a problem if using, say, a halfling), possibly buff the banner bonuses a bit. The tactician ability varies in usefulness depending on the group.I might throw a few free mounted combat feats, since that is sort of the main focus of the class and they only get 3 generic combat feats - and at higher levels.

It's yo boy the oppressive Wizard, looking for more loopholes to exploit:

While a wizard can target their familiar using spells the target of which usually is "you", is it ever possible to have it the other way around? That is, have your familiar cast a spell the target of which is "you", but transmit it to the wizard?
>>
>>46220379
How? Familiars aren't spellcasters, unless they use a wand, and then the wand is casting the spell, not the user.
>>
>>46220427
>then the wand is casting the spell, not the user.
Do you mean it's impossible to have spells the target of which is "you" in wands?

Also, can't you have spellcasters as familiers using Improved Familiar?
>>
>>46220443
You can have a spell that targets "you" in a wand but it's not "your" spell. So the wizard can't use it on a familiar, at least as I read the ability.

Fair point about Improved Familiars though. Still, there's no ability for them to share such a spell.

I DM PF for a table (soon to be two). Being a somewhat regular of this board, I've heard lots about how Wizards are overpowered, but I'd never tried it for myself.
The opportunity arose when I was invited to play (ForeverDM status finally broken after some 8 years), so I decided to go for a Wizard and see just how broken they were, by trying to bend everything as much as possible.

I am God on the battlefield, but the party's vivisectionnist trivializes every encounter by one-shotting basically everything.

I'm noticing a trend that there are literally zero straight people, or straight couples, worth mentioning in Pathfider material, but the more important thing is how is a straight character supposed to take this feat? It's gay/lesbian exclusive.

To buff MAD classes, to buff classes that favor a stat that doesn't apply to a save, to help monks get good AC, and because I like how 5e did it but letting everyone get +2 to one stat instead of +1 to two stats would push the game even more in favor of the SAD classes, so I limited it a bit

Hmm? I was seeing the feat is associated with the Iridian Fold and thus assumed the feat chain was only for members of the Fold, or those who practice the Fold's orientation.

Or maybe they'd have a Villainous Mentor their familiar could call up once a day? Remember that where paladin gets a shitty horse, antipaladin already gets a permanent summoned monster companion.

Just let the player pick an outsider type that has a Ring of Summoning Affinity and add those outsiders to the list, then let the familiar be the one that summons them instead of the character.

Alternatively, do what I'm doing for my asura antipaladin: Summon Guardian Spirit to get a single HD-scaling familiar-companion in place of having a new nameless summon every level.

The soul calibur sword in Soul Calibur II is split like a rhoka. The design changes game to game though. It looks pretty cool. The magus's art on pfsrd also has a character wielding a rhoka.

As a weapon it's of little value unless you get *specific* proficiency in it for free from your race or something, and not just an exotic weapon proficiency of your choice. As exotic one-handers go, the estoc strictly outclasses it as an 18-20 crit weapon (unless you can make a case for slashing > piercing), the falcata outdamages it on average, the nine-section-whip has a ton of features, the sawtooth sword is the TWF weapon of choice, and the bastard sword is the one you'd want to wield oversized and when growing to higher sizes. Rhoka have no purpose.

I discovered all this on Skype, when he forgot to remove me from the group conversation, which contained such nuggets as "Hey, why did the number of people in the game drop?" Or "Anon was a powergaming idiot who was clearly going to be a problem with the rest of the party later on."

Said party consisted of literally furries (one of which was a dom/sub relationship with collars) and generic smash-kill machines, one of which left the campaign halfway into the first session. I was playing a sophisticated (ex) college professor deep into the occult, with the personality and mannerisms to match.

I didn't even drop any dank memes when I left the group chat, I just left and unfriended any of the other players.

I mean, the more immediate problem is that he made his phylactery so fragile that a teenage aristocrat could sunder it with unarmed strikes.

Anyone ever asks why phylacteries can't be made more cheaply than 120k gold, now you now. Substandard materials ruin unlives.
>>
>>46223301

Don't you hate it when the DM is cool, the campaign is interesting but the other players are absolutely insufferable?

>>46223358

You won't believe how many shitty players there are on Roll20, I can totally believe it.

The only time I've ever heard a cool DM/cool campaign/shitty players scenario work is that anon from /pfg/ who had a kitsune wife that ripped off some pervert's balls.
>>
>>46223332
Well maybe that's the way Liches SHOULD work, they get their huge attribute bonuses and special lich powers while holding the phylactery, and if not they're *just* a 15th level sorcerer or whatever with the Undead type. That way there's power incentive and when you find the damn thing your second boss battle with him is more difficult than the first.
>>
>>46223378
Well he didn't actually make it himself.
He sold his soul to some devils for a transformation into a lich, which probably is also the reason he died the moment it broke.

I was thinking maybe of making my int 22 for ALL THE SKILLS

I'm a human Ranger 5/ Master of Many FOrms 3 level 8 so I can put a +4 in any stat (2 from human and 2 from leveling)

Also using a Monk Belt so wis to ac.

Skill ranks won't be retroactive. You would get 1 additional skill point starting at that 8th level.

>GM wants to conduct a literal skype interview
>never contacts me again afterwards
>different group, GM insists I play a "tanky martial", gives me no real information on what the campaign will consist of or how it's played
>go in with a Paladin because it's the easiest thingto set up.
>constant Paladin joke's and "dude what if we made you fall that's be hilarious"

My first Pathfinder experience was pretty shit. Using roll20 was a mistake, as was doing a voice-comm game with strangers.
>party spends four sessions intentionally making retarded, amoral choices
>we wind up in a dark cave and the GM rules that I can't banzaii charge anything because I can't see shit
>stuck doing jack shit for a few sessions while the GM strokes the ego of the party druid and kineticist

>Find new campaign with new DM on Roll20, doesn't have any red flags and fits my schedule nicely so I apply with a halfling magus
>Get accepted
>Fastforward a week to the first session, meeting the other players OOC for the first time
>The specialest of special snowflake aasimar druid with a tiger companion, a gnome rogue with a crossbow, and some generic, forgettable fighter
>startingtosweat.png
>We start in a throne room with a king telling us how awesome we are for saving his kingdom (we're level 3, might I add) and saying he will give us whatever we want
>My character's major goal is to become a merchant, king snaps his fingers and it's done, least satisfying completion of character motivation I've ever had
>Other characters ask for other stuff, fighter wants a cool sword, rogue wants to be put in charge of thieves guild, druid was all like "No don't reward me goodness is its own reward!"
>King now insists we join an expedition he's sending across the eastern sea to a new continent
>"Wait I thought you were making me a merchant"
>Turns out he's giving me a wagon full of supplies and expects me to set up business in the unexplored continent that has no known civilization on it, apparently selling supplies to the rest of the expedition

This isn't even touching on the first encounter being with a CR 18 kraken on our ship, the DM surprising us with the fact that he decided to use Unchained Action Economy (never mentioned anything about Unchained before that), or that the druid wanted her tiger animal companion to fuck my halfling. We weren't even half way through the first session and I already knew I wasn't going to come back for the second.

Did anyone ask tiger's opinion?

Because that can often mean having a lot of pages open at a time until you've memorized literally everything about every build.

Chargen tools make it quicker and easier for laypersons.
