Why can't something like this be used as a d3? It seems

Why can't something like this be used as a d3? It seems simple enough. You just have to roll it along the longer sides.

They are used. Most odd-faced die come in the form of dice sticks.

Make the triangular ends round
>>
>>46070093
Just use a d6 with two 1,2,3 each.
>>
>>46070093
>>46070157
These things don't roll really well
>>
>>46070093
I have seen d3's like that, except the edges are sort of curves so instead of three long sides and two short sides, you have the three sides and two points. Like an American football with 3 faces.
>>
>>46070562
Why do that when you can make an actual d3?

>>46070648
If it's small enough and you use enough force, it shouldn't be a problem.
>>
>>46070093
They do make them, one of the weird dice aficionados at my table has some.
>>
>>46070727
Well, just like that it'd damage the table, but you could easily round off the corners and sides.

Still, it's easier to roll a d6.
>>
>>46070093
They are used as a d3, with rounded triangular ends.

They're also used as a d5. It's perfectly random if you get the ratio between the length and height calibrated right.
>>
>>46070727
>use enough force

That's going to have things bouncing off the table, and that's ignoring the fact that "rolls poorly" means "super easy to cheat".

Even if people don't want to chat, they could easily be accused of it every time they roll a 3
>>
>>46070678
Man this is a great idea, you could roll them by spinning them, like a spinning top
>>
>>46071180
>>46070763
>damage the table
>push things off the table
I think you guys are thinking of a little bit too much force there.
>>
>>46070093
Why use d3 if i can roll a common d6 and divide by 2?
>>
>>46071374
Why use d10 if I can roll a common d20 and divide by 2?

That's exactly what they used to do though.
>>
>>46070727
Replace the flat, triangular sides with points so that the die has a football shape. Admittedly, this will give each of the 3 remaining sides a curve, but there will only be 3 sides to land on.

They don't roll across a /table/ well. The polite and acceptable way to roll a D3 is to give it plenty of visible spin in the air, but they can have more rounded edges for table rolling, too.

Unless you have one of the ones with a pointed end for spinning like a top. There are also some that look almost like D6s, but have three rounded ends, and roll across the table easily. And there's this wacky thing which is new to the scene.
>>
>>46071457
There's no need to divide by 2, tho. Just look at the last digit.
>>
>>46074286
wew lad

How did the original guys miss something that obvious? They used to be numbered 1-10 twice and they would have two different colours, so you would add ten if the designated colour came up.
>>
>>46074417
Of course, it is just as easy to add ten...
