Any news on the expansion move sets so far? I want to see just how horrible the Dragon God is to fight.
>>
>>45957830
>Building your own box
I'm guessing printing 1500+ double-sided, colored, high quality cards and tokens would set you back... oh about $400
>>
>>45957971
Let's just say that the Dragon King has an ability that literally nukes everything on the field ahead of his position (and in his blindspot).
It's called Meltdown.

The resulting Desintegration Wave thing is quite nasty.

Though it shouldn't trigger too early in the fight, as it has some conditions that need to be met.

Also, you can get nuclear powered weapons for your survivors.
>>
>>45958531
Also someone has a 3+ chance of exploding in a ball of radioactive fire to get the resource needed for said nuclear weapons!

As far as the Dragon goes... wounding often causes Lava terrain to spawn, which then can turn into pillars when he Meltsdown. He gets minus toughness tokens when you wound him, then does damage based on how many of those he has.
One hit location he uppercuts the survivor into the air, where they'll leave the board for a turn and then fall and get hurt a bunch
>>
>>45958531
But we still don't have the AI cards?

Hey guys, and if you're watching, I'm really sorry Poots.

I'm scanning the cards for Gorm at 600 dpi.

Each image is turning out to be something like 25 mbs so I'll have to upload it all on a mega later.

Here's the first 8 one for Gorm that I've resized.

I'm planning on scanning everything, but that's going to take several days if not weeks.

Just anything they have on hand that matches what I want, or any heads of theirs I can get for a decent price. Other day I got People of the Sun to use the basic model, switch for the head from the current Thief model on sale, and then I'm going to sculpt over it a lot.

Other than that just grab heads I can find. Currently working on a new army and some of the squad leaders don't have helmets so I swap em out.

So glad I grab this and the dung beetle knight from the KS.

I can't stand Spidey but I love the armor set. So I'm on the fence about not getting that one.

>>
>>45960428
Welp, this'll be the first expansion I buy when it hits the stores. I do need more huntable monsters.
>>
>>45982344
It probably doesn't hurt that the Gorm armour is incredibly defence focused, a survivor in a full set with a good shield is a terrific tank and damage sponge.
Great against some of the Nemesis encounters (the Butcher comes to mind).
>>
>>45982344
All current expansions except Lion Knight, Manhunter and Slenderman add a huntable monster and we don't know if The King in the Lantern Festival will be a nemesis or a quarry.
>>
>>45982534
Do keep in mind that the Sunstalker, Dragonking and Flower Knight offer Alternate Campaign starts (the first 2 even with unique settlement sheets).
These different starting positions can dramatically alter the way the campaign plays out, and sometimes even changes the way you think about your survivors (the Dragon King in particular does this).
>>
>>45982636
I was surprised by the flower knoght campaign being a thing. Always thought it'd be something more along the lines of the manhunter.
>>
>>45983716
That was initially the intention I believe, but it grew into an option for an alternate start over time.
>>
Thanks for the scans! But there should be some events/rules as well, could you scan those as well please?

Yesterdays session taught me that we should never play KD:M again if anyone has a unlucky day, because the amount of stuff a few dice rolls can change is phenomenal.
>go hunt our second Lv1 Lion after the first one killed the entire hunt group
>pretty much our last hope, settlement only has 6 survivors left, hunt group included
>find a path on the first hunt event which leads us directly to the lion, we ambush it
>showdown is still very tough, bad rolls for us everywhere, in the end we still make it with two survivors dead
>coming back to the settlement, we suddenly realize we only have a single female left
>pray to roll our first Intimicaty on Augury, got it thanks to the three understanding our oldest survivor has
>roll on the Intimicaty table and get a freaking 1, which pretty much means freaking Game Over with our best survivor and our only remaining female running in to the dark
>decide to say fuck it and cheat, reroll it and get a 8, normal baby and select Protect the Young
>next Intimicaty we get extremly lucky, thanks to the Hovels we got this round we get a Special Child, Dream of the Beast
>next hunt she absolutely destroys the Lion with almost no effort, get Criticals left and right
That was a well needed positive experience although stained a bit by my reroll. Now the Butcher is knocking at our door, could I get some ideas how to handle him?
>>
>>45984206

>>
>>45985569

>>
>>45985569
Unlike KDs usual resin miniatures, these plastic expansions are meant to be available on a much wider scale than the limited miniatures (much like the game itself).

Once they're available, expect regular restocks on all of them.

The biggest thing will be how much of a production run Adam will select.
The plastic sprues really lend themselves to large scale manufacture more than small batch stuff, so technically the bigger the batch, the cheaper per unit it'll be for Adam.
The cost of the print materials will be another thing though.
>>
Is the Bloodthirsty Mood of the White Lion really so OP as I think it is?
It basically gives the White Lion a extra attack every round, seeing how almost all his attacks are two hits and thus give him two tokens if they hit (which they mostly do with 2+).
So once it gets rolling, he gets up to 4 tokens in his round, and that is not even taking Reactions into consideration.
>>
>>45985745
All mood cards are extremely dangerous, which is why its highly recommended to have the harp.
>>
Any scans of the other expansions will be greatly appreciated! :-)
>>
>>45985866
If the lion would drop anything else instead of stupid useless tails and curious hands, we might even be able to make some of those usefull items.
>>
So what's the story of this game?
>>
>>45986440
There was a good who crafted people to his likeness.
And made them suffer horribly because he's an asshole like that.
>>
>>45986440
The Scribe (God in this realm) writes the players into existence to feed the horrible monsters that inhabit it.
The players disagree with being eaten and set up camp near a horde of lanterns they find in the darkness.
The players then battle the beasts that live in the dark, growing stronger, making equipment, hunting stronger and bigger beasts, until the final boss shows up.

Once the final expansion (the Lantern Festival) gets to players they'll be able to progress beyond the current final boss of the core game to take on the Scribe itself.

There are 2 Alternate Campaigns possible at present (with the Sunstalker and Dragon King expansions) where players have a different starting point, story and a different final boss as well.
>>
>>45986466
Actually, its the other way around. The Entity didn't have a physical form, and made many the monsters to worship him The Dragon King is implied to NOT be one of the Entities creations, and the Gold Smoke Knight is implied to be the previous god, before being overthrown by the Entity.. However, without a physical form, there was nothing for them to worship, so he built Humans as a quickly reproducing food source for the monsters that could also function as extensions of its will to build massive cities to be worshipped in place of the Entity itself.

The Scribe is, supposedly, a minion of the entity meant to do all the work while the entity gets all the credit. There are multiple Scribes (as implied by being able to find copies of their books as a hunt event), and the Entity itself takes the form of The King, which is a mass of humans directly controlled by the Entity, as opposed to the rest of the Humans, which are simply devoted to it through the Wet Nurses indoctrination. Likewise, while the Scribes are given a portion of the Entities omnipotence, the Hand is given a portion of its omniscience.

Survivors are humans created merely as food, without the Wet Nurses influence, but managed to actually kill the monster they were created to feed. Unless you were never ACTUALLY meant to be the lions food source, and were deliberately woken up before that to fight back, create a culture, and actually were just a food source for the Watcher, which is why the Kingsmen and Hand just control the population and development of your settlement, instead of destroying it outright.
>>
>>45987102
So the guy behind everything is literally the idea of evil with everyone else being his god hand?
>>
>>45987102
It wasn't the Golden Entity that overthrew the Golden Knight, it was the Necromancer, as revealed in the Lion God expansion.

So the major players at work here:
>Gold Smoke Knight
The former guardian of the Holy Lands. When the land got corrupted, the Golden Knight's body changed to reflect that, becoming its current form.

>The Necromancer
A parasite that takes control of its host, and is effectively immortal. Seems to be a rival to the Golden Entity, which makes sense given it is represented by silver.

>The Golden Entity
God. Wasn't the ORIGINAL god, but is the creator of humans and current ruler of the Holy Lands.

>The Goblin
We don't know jack shit about it, but it is definitely a big deal, whatever it is. Seems to be very recluse, and viewing it will drive monsters insane, and kill humans.

>Dragon King/Tyrant
Not sure if I should include him, as he has little stake in this war. He is extraterrestrial in origin, is the last of his species. Very hard to kill, as his dragon form is really just organic nuclear powered armor, and he just sneaks out of it if it gets destroyed. He seeks to revive his species, or at the very least create a legacy so they will be remembered when he dies.

>others
>The Watcher and the Ancient Sunstalker
Just monsters that serve the Golden Entity, and get provided a regular supply of humans as food.

>White Lions
Former residents of the Holy Lands, from before the Entity took control. Though, there is conflicting information about this, as their backstory specifically mentions humans in it, which did not exist before the Entity.
>>
IS this worth me buying? i really do love the concept of this game, the manner of the figures and hobby im use to im just afraid it would be difficult for people to get in an actually combine these mini's with a good role play element of the social interaction of the players i.e. knowing the reaction and attitudes toward this hellscape an its creatures certain death
>>
>>45987102
>>45987342
The King isn't the entity.
>>45987065
Neither is the scribe.

As (>>45987102) mentioned, the entity doesn't have a physical form, and just takes over humans. The King is probably its closest thing to an avatar, but its not actually the entity itself. The closest thing to the entity that exists in the physical realm, are the Chosen that are created by the Grand Mothers.

>all this lore
Love it when the threads get like this. I'm now going through the store descriptions again, picking apart the lore.

>mfw it turns out there are actually 3 Lion Knights, and I somehow missed this
So we have an expansion of the 2nd, we have a mini of the 1st and will probably get an expansion of it, who else is hype to see the 3rd Lion Knight at some point?

>>45987590
Yeah, there are multiple Kings, and multiple Hands. Each share a portion of The Golden Entity, but none are the entity itself. I dont think its ever stated as fact that there are multiple Scribes, but >>45987102's argument about the book being evidence for it makes sense.
>>
So who is the Entity/God which makes the Saviors?
Or the God of the Dreamworld?
He seems like another big player.
>>
>>45987065
>There are 2 Alternate Campaigns possible at present (with the Sunstalker and Dragon King expansions)
How can you proceed beyond that point if Sunstalker destroys your whole settlement one way or another and Dragon King's power wipes victorious survivors?
>>
>>45988114
You do not, hence the alternate start. Only the core game final boss is a point you can progress past (once you incorporate the Lantern Festival).
>>
>>45988114
Can you explain a bit how those two campaigns work? What is the final event and such?
>>
I've just skimmed trough the core book, and it looks pretty amazing.
I am sorta new to this tough; there is no other way to get into this and support the creators than buying that 400$ monster box?
>>
>>45988477

Not really.

You might be able to find it cheaper on Ebay, but then you wont be supporting the creator.

You can buy promo minis for much less money and support poots, but those don't let you play the game. Many of them don't even have game rules yet, assuming they ever will.

400 sounds like a lot of money to drop on a game, but its actually not that uncommon in a /tg/ hobby. Its usually just spread out more.

Its easy to drop more than 400 into play 40k or card games, though I guess in RPGs you have to go pretty far into splatbook city to hit $400. That or drop money on minis.
>>
>>45988565
Yes but on all the others you can just decide to stop buying if you don't enjoy yourself after the first 50-100$.

Also, all the others aren't working off on a kickstarter, both GW and MTG has a lot of capital.

A real pity.
>>
>>45988466
>People of the Sun
Different intimacy table that is a bit less lethal, but at the cost of requiring you to take Survival of the Fittest. You can also trigger it for a much lower cost. They also get a triggerable event which lets you create a new type of 'savior'. Final event is the Sunstalker raging and coming down to attack the settlement.

>People of the Stars
The Dragon King raises your survivors to be strong enough to continue the legacy of the now extinct Dragons. He will periodically fight them to test them, and genuinely wants whats best for them, considering them his children. Final event is him testing to see if they truly are worthy, through a final test against him at his full power.

>The Bloom People
A minor variation, its just a normal campaign, except your settlement is located in the forest. Can be added onto any other campaign. You can't hunt the flower knight, but have easy access to flower resources. Also, its super easy to reincarnate survivors through the Sleeping Virus Flower.

>>45988477

Just a rough summary as I don't have their storybooks handy at the moment.

Dragon King:

Rather than setting up camp near a Lantern Horde, you find the humanoid form of the Dragon.
You build a throne for him, and in return for your worship you get a portion of his power.
Your survivors can get dragon abilities instead of fighting arts, once you complete a "constellation" of these abilities you get a pretty potent bonus.
As a result, individual survivors become far more important and far more powerful.

At the end, after the humanoid dragon tests you (and your growing number of "people of the stars" survivors) a couple of times, he instructs you to build a tomb for his body and you fight him as his Dragon form to inter him in it.

Sunstalker:

You find "the sun" flying around (the Adult Sunstalker), you worship it and form a symbiotic relationship with it.
End result: 1) you win, but the baby sunstalkers eat everyone. 2) you lose, baby sunstalkers go out into the wild and continue the cycle.

>>45988839 summarizes it quite well.

There is one big "but" to this campaign though, if you ever fail a Nemesis encounter the Sunstalker wipes out the settlement resulting in a game over.
There are less Nemesis encounters, but each and everyone must not be failed, or else...

>>45988965
I made a mod for it a while back, which people have since reuploaded onto the workshop with minor tweaks (like 3d models, a game box, stuff like that)

Speaking of, here is a what the next version of the mod is gonna look like. New hunt board, new AI board, new tokens, and some changes to card backs to make the custom scenarios/homebrew a bit easier to handle than the real game. Also like 20 different versions of the proxy cards, each with a card back matching the various decks. Also, not pictured, the bags for each monster are replaced with a small deckbox featuring that monsters emblem/crest.

Im also working on a version with cards completely designed from scratch, so its better quality than just the scans, easier to update with errata, and lets me make some homebrew myself. But it turns out making the AI cards and Hit Locations is a bit of a bitch, due to how variable their formatting is. I expect the same issue with Settlement Events as well.

>write up long post about TTS and the various pros and cons of each virtual tabletop
>drop mouse and accidently close browser
Fuck. Okay short summary.

>Roll20 does good character sheets/maps, but you cant mix cards from various decks, which KDM needs
>Maptools hasn't been updated in years, and has nonexistent card support
>LackeyCCG has good card support, but cant really do battle maps or character sheets
>OCTGN is customizable enough to possibly handle KDM, but is fairly clunky, and requires you to program in the most minute details, and I doubt it can do character sheets
>VASSAL is able to do all of the required stuff, but isn't very user friendly, and is a bitch to program for.
>TTS is able to do all the required stuff, and mods are fairly straightforward, but also can't do character sheets.

That said, TTS is a physics engine game. Cards will flip over and go flying across the screen, dice will roll off the table, minis will get stuck clipping into the board. But it remains the easiest option for any game that has grid based combat and card shuffling, as well as deckbuilding games.

But without character sheet support, its not really worth 20 dollars, in my opinion. Wait for it to go on sale. Still, 20 bucks is cheaper than 400. And yes, you can play with others online.
>>
>>45989139
>>45990124
Also, one of the nicer things about playing over TTS. You can copy cards, so no need to 'Record and Archive' cards like fighting arts, disorders, and resources. And you never run out of gear cards.

Doesn´t the Lore on the 2nd Lion Knight kinda conflict from what we see in the Lion Knight expansion? Why would one of the highest generals of the Holy Lands goof around the lands and let himself get killed in a stupid theatre piece? Would that not make the settlement get completly wiped out by a army of White Knights?
>>
>>45990969

Two points. First, the 2nd Lion Knight is said to love humanity and all its creations, so it's not unheard of that he would faff around observing settlements he perceives to be harmless.

Second.

So, does anyone have a list of Errata for the game? I know it has been mentioned before that the Dung Beetle expansion has a typo in it, but I have other questions as well.

Like, is Legendary Horn (a requirement for the Lance of Longinus gear) a real thing? Its not in the rare resources deck. Is it supposed to be Spiral Horn?
>>
>>45997485
Well, no errata yet for the expansions probablu, but if you check the kingdom death website, there's an FAQ and the like for the core game.
>>
>>45997485
Legendary Horns supposedly come from the L3 antelope, I believe? I think it's in the rulebook under rewards, the antelope equivalent of the super lion claws and the phoenix crest.
>>
Any one in the UK got the expansions yet? Or am i needlessly panicking.
>>
>>45997582

Nope. L3 Pheonix gives you the crest, L3 Lion gives you the elder cat teeth, and L3 Antelope gives you... Broken Lantern?

Broken fucking Lantern?

Which is twice the bizarre, because my Strange Resources deck has no Legendary Horn, but it does have Second Heart, which doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere or serve any purpose.

So this is just all sorts of fucked.
>>

You can get second heart from Crush & Devour IIRC. I'd check over my own contents to see if I've got anything different than you, but I'm not at home ATM.
>>
>>45997929

Its not a hard thing to clear up, but i can't be the first person to ever notice that a resource doesn't exist and a piece of gear is literally uncraftable.

I don't need Poots to send my an apology letter, I just need some kind of list of mistakes and their intended replacements. Because this one is obvious, but others might not be.

Its totally understandable that this is a thing, typos are an issue even in games that don't come out of kickstarter. But come on, Poots. Some kind of official errata page on your site. That's all I ask.

I don't have the game in front of me to verify, but IIRC, the antelope has a Legendary trait that can pop up called Legendary Horns or something like that. The Legendary Antelope has this trait in play by default.

>>
>>45987502
It's definitely "worth it" in the sense you get an appropriate amount of props and miniatures for the price point. 400$ is very steep for a boardgame, but very affordable for a miniatures game that will last you a good many play-through.

The game itself I think encourages a very emergent form of role-play and storytelling - survivors just naturally end up differentiated from each other due to swings of luck and wounds taken in battle. Even if your group is not very familiar with role-playing conventions, the game generates very memorable situations and characters that can't help but stir the imagination due to how many things it tracks - fighting styles, special arts, permanent injuries, mental disorders, etc. etc.
>>
>>45990124
You can mix cards from various decks in Roll20, but this needs a referee and a bit of setup time.

What you do is create a separate deck for each AI category; then when it's time to generate a deck simply draw the requisite number of cards from each deck and construct a new deck based on the cards in hand.

>>45990124

>(or Hand before Phoenix if you plan on failing the campaign)
It's quite possible to be successful without really devoting much if any effort to phoenix hunts. Phoenix gear is great but Weapon Crafter and Leather can get you there.
>>
>>46004634
No, I don't think that at all. I never even mentioned the White Lion Knights.

Check the store page for Lion Knight 1st and Lion Knight 2nd. LK1 mentions that he was made to lead the Entity's army, but went to insane to be effective. LK2 mentions that the armies were lead by 3 brothers, with LK2 being the middle brother. This is pretty much straight up confirmation that there is a Lion Knight 3rd, who is the youngest brother that leads the Entity's armies.

>>46004626
I suppose it's possible, but I doubt it. I feel like it would be more clear if that was the case. He definitely used to be a lion, but Lions existed before the Entity, I believe. Gold Smoke Knight was a defender of the silver city, before the Knowledge Worm turned their king into the Lion God.
>>
>>46006423
I read it as:
>The Lion Knight 3rd was the Golden Entity's general to the area where the silver city will be
>Necromancer came and took over, created the silver city, which represents its "corruption" / influence, like the Holy Lands' cities represents the Golden Entity's influence.
>Corruption from the necromancer spreads, and LK3 tries to push it back, but eventually loses, turning into the GSK
>Golden Entity, seeing one of its favorite generals get corrupted by this opposing power, gets off its ass, kicks the Necromancer in the nuts, punishes the Necromancer / silver king by cursing it to become the Lion God
>>
>>46006668
Backing myself here:
In >>46006423 you say
>Gold Smoke Knight was a defender of the silver city, before the Knowledge Worm turned their king into the Lion God.
But the GSK blurb says
>There was once a fertile land of golden grass and prideful lions. Uncounted centuries ago, a parasite took root and over time a corrupted city grew to engulf the plains.
>a corrupted city grew
The GSK was the guardian of the land before the city grew there.

>>
I have to say, the way KD lore is parceled out is fascinating to me. Yeah, it means having to work and debate for your info, but on the other hand assembling the picture from the disparate pieces is really rewarding and thematic.

We seem to know a good deal about the Holy Lands. We know they used to be lion plains but then the Knowledge Worm showed, created the Lion God, and had the Silver City built. We also strongly suspect that the Entity's turf has something to do with this because the Entity has gold and lions as two of its big motifs. Some people suspect the Great Game Hunter City might belong to the Entity, but I'm not sure I agree with that as despite it at least sometimes being called Golden the glimpeses of GG Hunter life we've seen don't seem to jive with how the Entity does things. I don't think you'd see hunter houses with Wet Nurses running around. But then, if they aren't under the Entity's auspice, how do they survive? Kingdom Death isn't the most HFY of settings, but could a society survive without a patron? Maybe.

There's also the King and the Scribe. I don't think we actually know their relationship to the Entity, though there is IIRC implied to be one. I think it might be possible that there are multiple sources of humans. By Kingdom Death standards we're short-lived and fertile with top-tier upward mobility, so the Entity uses humans as the backbone of the Holy Lands, breeding and raising them in an industrialized fashion with Chosen presumably being the endgame? The Scribe doesn't really need to breed humans, he can write them into being and seems to do so for the King. What does the King want? Is the King really in charge compared to the Scribe? Hard to say. And then there are the 'independent' humans like Hunters, White Speakers, and Twilight Knights. It's possible in my mind that humanity in Kingdom Death may be older than its Entity/Scribe branches...

I'd say Lantern Festival would be more expensive than Dragon King. My rationale:
* Same / slightly smaller amount of plastic: Dragon vs King, Tyrant vs. Scribe, People of the Stars vs. Hunters, Armor kit vs. ??? (not known if LF will contain an armor kit)
* A lot more printed material (We know Adam has been packing all expansions chock-full of more content. LF originally had, for example, 75 AI/HL cards where the DK had 25 (+25 with the tyrant). Same thing for events, locations, etc. etc.
* Comparing the pricing at KS time ($30 vs $45), and the planned MSRPs ($60 vs $65).
My guess is that lantern festival will be at least $120, too, and more probably $130-$150.

Okay, seems reasonable. Lantern Festival seems the most important expansion to get, so I´ll probably wait till it is out.
I just hope they maybe can sell it through their warehouses they also shipped the various waves from.
Otherwise, shipping would most likely rape me hard.
Also this way I could probably just drive there and get it since the "warehouse" for EU is maybe half an hour away from me.

Is a single miniature, not a 4-dude Armor Kit wit tons of bonus parts for all available weapons and accessories.
>>

Right, I forgot about that.
Though it's probably a single model, not a full blown million options armor kit.

Can't wait to see if/how the Twilight Cloak works with the Twilight Sword. Maybe the master can stay in the settlement?

The Manhunter also raises a lot of questions. He clearly seems to come from the GGH city as he uses manufactured tools, a gun, traps, the works. He is also probably human, as he carries a lantern, but his lantern has strange properties, and he himself seems to have some augmentations. Also, obviously, he traded for people for some unknown purpose.

Maybe the GGH city is the hopeful city for survivors who have lost their lantern hoard or other town core, but it's society principal is extreme survival of the fittest. If you can't succeed, you are a slave, put to work to manufacture the goods that the city NEEDS to survive without having a core or a patron monster. Maybe in trying to survive the monsters, the people have become the kind of monsters that only people can. It seems to fit the theme of the world.
>>
>>46010939
GGH city is actually full of aristocratic clans afair.
They just hunt for the thrill/fun
>>
>>46010995

This. Though you are probably right in that their technology and tools are what keeps them safe from the monsters. The strange lantern that the Manhunter carries means he can walk around the darkness and be basically invisible to the monsters. Assuming this is not a unique artifact, the city is probably the safest place you can be.
>>
>>46011102

the aristocratic clans thing also fits into the view I presented above >>46010939
here. Probably at the start there were just who clans, two groups of survivors who both managed to survive their patron monster and found each other in the darkness. Then another clan came, and another. Eventually, the clans became houses. Clans, or houses, that are weak are culled, used as slaves. Clans that are strong rise and become the game hunter houses. Maybe the nemesis encounter with a GGH (assuming there is one) is about proving that your clan is strong enough to be a part of the city.

The people he takes presumably are brought to the GGH City for whatever they were selected for. Strong Fighter, Young, Smart, or Slave (breeding iguess?)

You're right in that if you don't succeed there, youre shit outta luck. Ammo slave fluff blurb says that if a GGH House fails, everyone associated with it (patriarch down to tits footmen) are turned into slaves/ammo carriers/cannon fodder/generally humiliating tasks.

Cut-throat high tech city where the rich get richer and lots of trying to screw other families/houses over for self gain

Another interesting corner of lore is the mass of the Forest and the Abyssal Wood. Presumably the Flower Knight/Spidicules forest is not the same, or perhaps the survivors don't go deep enough to mess with the black hole. For reference, I think this is most of the lore on the Abyssal Wood...

> The Abyssal Woods exists on the precipice of obliteration, its heavy limbs pulled inexorably towards black hole at its center. The Flower Witch flickers through the woods, tending to inscrutable tasks that keep it from swallowing itself. Her seemingly random alterations create wonder and death for foolhardy travelers.

> A coven of disciples that assist in the care of the Abyssal Woods; clearing trails, calming boiling rivers, balancing bacterial colonies, and most importantly, clearing the clots from the infinity web that encloses the vacuum at the heart of the forest.

> The staves of the disciples are topped with a dense mineral, so saturated with colors that it appears black to human eyes. The mineral is the heart of a plant that lives in warm nests deep within a great inverted mountain. The Flower Witch teaches its disciples to use their staves to manipulate plant life cycles, commanding them to grow or wither.

> The uniforms of the disciples, their dresses and hats, are spun on the same loom that weaves the goblin's garments. The fabric is a woven parasite, its fibers absorbing the wearer's blood. These vestments enable the disciples to grip the ground with incredible strength allowing them to move freely through the Abyssal Woods even when everything around them is a swirling vortex.

> A hole the size of a grain of sand breathes at the center of the Abyssal Woods. Every inhale threatens to devour the forest, an intense vacuum rips roots from the ground and sucks waves of tumbling debris through the air.

(contiued)
>>
>>46012711
> Above all else, the Flower Witch teaches the disciples about ego and the beauty of life and death. Cultivating immaculate beauty at the precipice of destruction strengthens the ego needed to wield the Flower Witch’s powers and maintain her knowledge.

> Everything that lives in the Abyssal Woods evolves to survive the tantrums of a tiny, unpredictable orifice at its center. Insects with opposable thumbs cling tenaciously to trees, whose roots have become powerful, gnarled hands firmly gripping the ground. Seasoned visitors carry chains and hooks to secure themselves at a moment's notice to the largest things in sight when the winds pick up.

> Beyond enabling the disciples to survive the hole of the forest, continued wear of their garments deepens a symbiotic relationship, granting them even greater understanding and power. However, an intense caloric intake is required to keep the fabric fed. This can pose a great challenge for young disciples, who often starve to death or are simply consumed by their hat.

> The Sleeping Flower has 13 petals, which is as many disciples as the Flower Witch will ever keep. However, the fifth petal never uncurls, even when the flower is in full bloom. Its contents are a mystery to all but the Flower Witch, who privately muses that it will be the burden of the disciple that succeeds her, inheriting both her mask and her many mistakes.

Which has some great, weird stuff (including one of the odd hints about the Goblin).

I'd really like to see how she'd go as a monster, possibly using the Spidicules/Sunstalker formula to have 0-12 disciples on the field with her, mucking with things. Heck, part of me would want to see a Disciple deck so that whenever one comes out it's slightly different than the others.

>>46012711

Well, right, but still more human than a kingsman probably. He strikes me as the most "human" of the monsters you encounter outside of maybe the Lion Knight's retinue, just because he does seem willing to barter with you. I'd put him more human than the butcher (who, as much as I enjoy the fight, don't enjoy him as a character because he is a nemesis who comes out of nowhere with no explanation or precursor like all the other nemesis have), but less human than, say, a bone witch.

>Dragon King
The Dragon King's species is long dead. It remains alone, clinging to the memories of its once mighty race. Its destructive moods swing wildly from impotent rage to obsessive nostalgia. It stalks the darkness, lashing out at anything it meets. Survivors that run across the moody monster usually fall prey to the unseen waves of ruinous pain that emanate from the monster's glowing heart. Those survivors lucky enough to drive off the monster will be amply rewarded with a trove of new armaments crafted from the abandoned husk of the monster's body.

>Sunstalker
Once sky had no day. There was a Shadow that was sad, it could only play in small light of a lantern. The Shadow found a hole in the sky and decided to steal enough lanterns to fill it. It took many generations, and when it was done the shadow slept under its big light, dreaming dreams about how it would play. When it awoke, all of the light was gone! At the center of the hole in the sky, was a tiny shinning entity, with a great big mouth. The shadow named the tiny thing the sun and they played forever.

>Dung Beetle
Resourceful and hungry, this cunning species has evolved a knight's shape to fool booth predators and prey. It rolls a massive resin ball formed from spit used to collect rare feces for its meals.

>Flower Knight
This enigmatic knight is the source of many tales and the muse of many pieces of art. Its ethereal beauty is hard to capture and its swordplay is unmatchable. The Flower Knight expansion provides a new challenge for daring survivors. The monster rewards luck and punishes survivors who try to gang up on it. Its rewards explore the themes of addiction and short-term gain coupled with long-term losses.

>Gorm
The Gorm travel enormous distances in their life cycles, shaping the landscapes with their enormous appetites and extreme bodily functions. Young Gorm roam the darkness devouring anything that moves (and many things that don't). During their mating season, older Gorm produces storms of incredible destruction. Ancient Gorm that have lived hundreds of lantern years will make a final solitary march to the fabled gormyards to die. The Gorm is a volatile quarry, but the complexities of its anatomy can unlock powerful tools for the settlement.

>Green Knight Armor
Good luck completing these insane recipes!

>Lion God
Warped for millennia by the tormenting whispers of an evil parasite, the last great ruler of the Silver City would be unrecognizable to their subjects if any were alive to see them today. Lacking the faintest glimmer of its former glory, the Lion God stalks the dead streets of its once-bustling kingdom in a mindless rage. Anything that comes within reach of its filthy, petrified claws is eaten or destroyed.

>Lion Knight
Incapable of emotion, the Lion Knight seeks to understand the world around it through its bizarre, self-serving stage productions. Between performances, it is a distant husk, unaffected by the normal world. When the time comes, "actors" are gathered by the Lion Knight's masked retinue to join it onstage. There, it hopes to capture and vicariously experience their excitement, fears, and ultimately, their deaths. However, it remains up to the survivors to decide whether or not they stick to their scripts.

>Lonely Tree
If you can see the Lonely Tree for what it really is, it's probably too late. This carnivorous organism hypnotizes anything that comes near, luring prey with hallucinations of their innermost desires. Once they draw near, the hallucinations turn to ceaseless dreams, while the roots consume the victim in their sleep.

With each meal, a grotesque bulge, appears on the Lonely Tree's branches which slowly swells and takes on certain qualities of the devoured as they are digested. This "fruit" of the Lonely Tree is its true prize, as eating these conglomerations of phytohormones and human gristle can have beneficial (albeit bizarre) side effects. However, make sure to handle them gently while they are close to the tree, as the chemical volatility of the unripened morsels doubles as the Lonely Tree's primary form of self-defense!

>Manhunter
Hailing from a far away city, the Manhunter is a sadistic killer. It brutally executes survivors, cowing settlements into willingly submitting people to it. No one knows why is abducts survivors, or what they're used for, only that once taken, they are never seen again. Settlements will have to choose: take up arms against their fellow man, or accept the blood tax.

The Manhunter is a brutal foe, preferring to break enemies' bodies before ending their lives. If it can be defeated, the scarred survivors will benefit from the monster's invaluable hunting tools. If not, the settlement can submit to its will and trade their kin for resources.

>Slenderman
The Slenderman is a dark, cold hole in the memories of the few that have seen it and lived. Within this chilling gap of recollection, terror thrives, growing into panic and jumbled tales of warning. Facing the Slenderman tests the teamwork and sanity of the survivors that face it. The monster's movements are unpredictable, and it will often vanish from the board, leaving the team to carefully coordinate their actions to bring down their foe.

Cards, Boards, Cardboard tokens, and Rulebook are the major cost. Printing and ink are expensive.

Our axe woman got a broken back somewhat early in the mid-game (Less movement, can't use any weapons over STR 2). She has the highest courage and understanding across the entire settlement. And has 5 axe experience as well, so we have two ideas on what to do: we turn her into a support character with the Harp, Cats Eye headband and sickle. At least until we get axe mastery and can give the entire camp specialization, then by the time the family comes around she pops out as many wee baby axemen as possible until she dies in childbirth?

Or should we just retire her now and work on a newbie survivor?

Has anyone had any positive experience with a crippled survivor?

>>
>>46019482
Somewhat crippled survivors can still be great characters if you have a loadout that doesn't fall prey to their weaknesses. A dismembered arm is nothing if you don't want a 2h weapon, for instance.

The kind of things that cause the crippled to sit at home forever are generally movement penalties and effects that penalize the settlement as a whole like Hoarder. Even movement penalties can be played around but some monsters REALLY like moving so if they're large it'll be agony even to a ranged character.

If you have Family, though, assigning the normal loadout to an heir might be better. With Clan of Death they're even likely to be more powerful than their parents. And you can't gain weapon profs if you never hit, so pure support has... issues.

>>

It may behoove you to set up "clans" of weapon users. Send them all out to fight at once, etc. You get half the experience that one of the parents has, so it can easily just be a numbers game. And remember, you don't need EVERY mastery.
>>
>>46020445
>>46020459
Agree. Dragon King is the superior alt campaign to Sunstalker and the better mini. Dung Beetle is the one Poots clearly put his heart and soul into -- look at the mega and you can just FEEL the effort on that one. As for Gorm... eeh, it seems like an OK monster but I find the mini unappealing and Gorm Climate just seems like such a slog: hard (not bad on its own...) and not necessarily fun.

I only skimmed the book because I didn't really care so I'm not super sure.
>>
>>46021741
No, it's a monster in it's own right. Here's the order of operations.

>Lonely tree appears as terrain in an encounter, either from random terrain selected at the start of an encounter, or because of a new hunt event card.
>If the tree still has fruit around it at the end of the encounter, you get a Nightmare Fruit resource card
>A survivor may eat the Nightmare Fruit in order to trigger a story event that lets you hunt the Lonely Tree.
>Lonely tree encounter is a brutal nemesis encounter that punishes keeping your heroes separated from each other and not using axes.
>Win or lose, get another Nightmare Fruit. Winning means getting a second fruit that gives a permanent stat increase, as well as a unique ability to whichever survivor eats it.

It's not a great expansion, but it's not terrible either.

I am happy I got the Lonely Tree for $25 during the Kickstarter. It's an absolutely GORGEOUS model, and I like that it is so easily integrated into the campaign without having a major footprint. It does seem hard to justify for $75. As someone who owns it, I'd suggest picking up one of the new huntable monsters instead, like the Gorm or the Lion/Flower Knights. Those seem to add a lot more to the actual game, for a comparable price point.

Some of it is fair and some of it is on GW levels. Mostly the Lion and Flower Knights, Slendie and Manhunter are really over priced in my opinion.

It's a rape cave.

I ordered everything. Someone hold me.

I'm still debating going all in.

It'll cost me about 700 for all the stuff I want..

We have *some* info about him. He's a Forsaker gone full berserk mode

Technically, Choreia does not require you play with the Spidicules in your quarry list, it's just a Forbidden Dance consequence that comes in the Spidicules expansion.

why 965?

Also content creation / testing and offseting losses from selling some of these at less than production costs (looking at you, early bird KS supporters, and you, Dragon God KS option)
>>
>>46022234
Naw bro. It was one of the most expensive expansions during the KS, at $30. Only the major expansions cost more than it (and The Dragon King cost the same and now costs double)
>>
>>46023702
It was $30 during the Kickstarter, not $25

Any chance we will get more scans to do the 'Building your own box of the game out of poorly scanned documents.'? :)

Sorry I was $5 after buying it 5 years ago, you autist

Can someone give me a brief TL;DR of this game? I play a lot of bard games (arkham, elderich, descent, King of Tokyo, etc..) and was wondering about picking this one up.

Hunt Boss Monsters, use their bits to build up your tribe/civilization and make better gear, hunt more Boss Monsters. Highly thematic in a literally dark, very lethal world of Gieger-esque Nightmare-Horror.

>Hard: Success requires strategy and planning
>Random: Character death (And FAR less frequently mission failure) can occur at the whim of the cards/dice
>Randomized Setup/Iterated Random: No two hunts or fights will ever be exactly the same.
>Campaign Play: You are meant to finish a chunk of game, not the entire game, in a sitting.
>High Production Values: Component quality goes above and beyond the call of duty for a game: Miniatures, cards, tokens, and Rule/Story book are all of good value.

some of the minis seem a bit...fetish-y? Is this a game i could bring to my local game store?

Is it cooperative, or competitive?
>>
>>46031168

It's fetishy the same way the Xenomorph is fetishy. It's meant to be grotesque, not sexual. Most of the monsters in the base game are honestly pretty tame; it's the pin-ups that are racier.

Cooperative, with the monster more or less controlled by its deck of AI cards.
>>
>>46031168
There aren't really fetishy minis in the actual game components. The game was promoted/funded in part by the sale of "Pinup" miniatures. The starting survivors (all four, two of each gender) have "a towel" for clothes but are decent and otherwise you won't find fetish in the core game unless you consider a xenomorph fetish-y (Again, some of the visual design borrows from Geiger). The core rulebook art may feature limited nudity on a couple pages so maybe don't let kids flip through it but frankly the nudity isn't really sexualized and is probably less harmful to the young than the horror/gore.

It is a cooperative game, 1-4 (with optional rules for up to 6) players versus the game. The way the boss monsters run themselves is probably one of the most mechanically innovative parts of the game.

A few final notes. The core game box is $400, which seriously smarts, but it is both High Production values and... a LOT of stuff. Frankly it's a personal matter whether what you get justifies the high buy-in
>>
>>46031168
Cooperative. 4 players I think.
It has an elaborate system where monsters are controlled by the players, but they are still random enough while sticking to their own behavior.

You could call the game "fetish-y" but I think it's more grotesque, Altough the two seems to be the same these days. I am not sure you can bring it or not. It involves cannibalism, Lovraftian scenery, and other similar horrors

scans for lion knight tomorrow. Had some things to deal with.
Sorry.

I know we have some out of game knowledge about him, but nothing in game. It just seems weird to me. All the other nemesis creatures give some foreshadowing that they are coming, including the new ones added with the expansions. The butcher just sort of... shows up, out of nowhere, and waits at the edge of town until your survivors come out to get their ass kicking. No story bits, no reason to care about this guy, nothing. It seems weirdly lazy compared to every other monster.

It's fine man. One thing that all KD players have is patience, waiting a couple days is nothing.
>>
>>46031818
>nothing in game
I think that most of the lore (with some blatant exceptions) in the main game is from the survivors point of view so it makes sense.

Does anyone have the scans of the promo stuff? i ordered the naked promo pack so i have all the figures but they didn't come with any cards. Has anyone uploaded them before?

On another, somewhat related, note: i found a website that prints cards for personal use and you can customize them so if i could get high resolution versions of those cards i could print them and make them look like the real deal.

heh, a bit of research and i found that they will have the promo cards avaliable later for free: "These were sort of a flop. We worked pretty hard on them, tested and tried to ensure each was a fun little mini game. The feedback from the beta’s has made it pretty clear and I see no reason to finalize them any further. They will remain online and available for any to enjoy as they are.

I will be taking a new approach with the content. Mainly the gear. The gear will be revisited, redesigned and given crafting recipes, so that it can more naturally be added to campaigns. The PDF’s will be made available for free and a printed pack of cards will eventually make its way to our online store, available for free + packing and shipping.

I love all the characters involved, so I want to ensure that the content evolves appropriately."
