It isn't that much of a storytime beyond what I said, since beyond rumors able to be picked up on in-game, anything that happened in private was between the player and DM.

What I my character actually saw though, the priestess was pretty cruel since she had a chip on her shoulder relating to his faith. She treated him more like a pet or something than a prisoner or spouse and dragged him around by the arm or head and pushed him around or threw him on the ground often. Pretty vicious if he did something he wasn't supposed to like talking, and she flew off a handle if he couldn't behave properly which was hard for him because of the toll her actions had on his body, like bleeding him or carving Cthulhu cult symbols into him. Some of the rituals were pretty disturbing as well, and she pulled no punches since he was a great catalyst.

Eventually she sort of satisfied her past issues with his faith and treated him better as their relationship transitioned to a more typical marriage relationship, but by then he was already broken and not much benefit as a cleric anymore since he had been turned to her faith.

But nor could I let him go through with whatever insane ritual he was preparing to perform for his newest project. The timing had to be just so.
Jeric paused at the centre of the ritual chamber, a broad smile spreading across his face.
“Welcome, brothers and sisters,” he spoke with a civil, high-gothic accent, “We are nearing the twilight curtain of this phase, today marks a monumental event. Gods of Chaos willing, this planet will begin its ascension today. This is but the first of many plagues that will follow.”
He stepped forward, pacing around the eight-pointed star, raising a bizarre chant in a language that made my head ache and my ears ring. Jeric raised his fists for emphasis as the cultists took up his chant, swaying and waving their weapons in unison.
By the time he reached us, Jeric had almost completed his circle, and was in the process of pulling a wickedly curved dagger from his belt.
I centred myself, closing my eyes as I prepared my assault. Blood pounded in my ears, my heart thumped as though aching to escape the confines of my ribcage, and I almost couldn’t seem to get enough air into my lungs.
The heretic was no more than two paces from me.
I lanced into Jeric’s mind as I stood, causing him to stop dead in his tracks as his mind tried to comprehend what was happening.
Without pause, I lifted my Inferno rifle and shot the heretic point-blank. The sickening chant slowly died as Jeric’s corpse, completely immolated from the shoulders up, pitched over backwards.
