This one is a little less thought out.

Creating Crossblooded ImpossibleArcane Sorcerer level 11 his main thing is crafting and diplo/bluffomancy.

Books allowed: Any Paizo

Traits
Looking for Work Perception as Class skill and +1

Spark of creation 5% off magic item creation cost and +1 to craft
Normal Wealth level which is 82k

Question 1: Does Craft Wondrous item work in character creation as in can I spend my starting gold on shit I create?

Also using Human taking Focused Study instead of bonus feat. Also taking Silver Tongued Human.

Should I put Skill Focus into Spellcraft and Diplomacy first or just get bluff and diplomacy.

Also what should I put my feats into?

Don't know what to put my 1st 5th and 9th feat into.

Maybe Persuasive for 1st level? Possibly Signature skill for Diplomacy as well. (Who doesn't want standard action diplomacy

I am using sorcerer bonus feat for Craft Magic Armor/Weapon and Craft Wondrous is free at 3rd level form Impossible along with the ignore 2 requirements bit from bloodline.

Any help is appreciated.

>>
>>44418338
There's a feat that allows you to enter a style and a stance with the same action.
>>
>>44417015
That is just not true. At high level there are of course imbalances but the majority of class features are unavailable in an E6 game. Feat advancement doesn't create any real feeling of advancement either so you essentially hit a progress wall nearly immediately after which you will never fight anything more difficult than you have done so previously, because you are incapable of it.

Whilst you can then show players in magic items to help them compete with classic fantasy villains like dragons or liches, you are just raising the power level again and defeating your own idea.

E6 doesn't balance anything at all because of two fundamental failures to understand the system it makes. The first is that the game isn't functional at high level, which is not true. The game works aside from a handful of spells that are ludicrously abusable. The second is that the game is more balanced or more functional at low level, which anyone whos seen sleep, color spray, summon monster etc can tell you isn't true. Ultimately E6 simply traps you in a lack of growth for no real improvement. You play a stagnant character who can only grow emotionally, never mechanically and who can't go on any long term adventures or face any threats above CR 10.

>The first is that the game isn't functional at high level, which is not true.

Pathfinder is fundamentally broken and unenjoyable at or near max level. This is not a thing you argue. This isn't an argument, this is literally the selling point of the game.

>The game works aside from a handful of spells that are ludicrously abusable.
...which players have complete and unrestricted access to outside of the DM saying they can't because he needs to create difficulty since it's impossible to challenge them otherwise.

>You play a stagnant character who can only grow emotionally, never mechanically and who can't go on any long term adventures or face any threats above CR 10.
Mechanical advancement is the least compelling reason to keep playing a character, and the whole point of E6 is that you fucking balance the enemies around it.

Yes, the players will not be punching Zon-Kuthon in the face because they can. Yes, they will not be wrestling Cthulu for fun in between creating their own universes. That's THE FUCKING POINT.

Homebrew archetype to fix rangers:

Ranger Lore
At first level, a Ranger gains a +2 Bonus on Bluff, Perception, Sense Motive and Survival checks against creatures for every 5 ranks with which the Ranger has knowledge of the associated creature. Likewise, he gets a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against them.

In addition, at every 5 ranks the Ranger allocates to Knowledge, the bonuses against the associated creatures increases by 2.

List of Knowledges and Associated Creatures:
Arcana: Constructs, Dragons, Magical Beasts
Dungeoneering: Aberrations, Oozes
Nature: Animals, Fey, Monstrous Humanoids, Plants, Vermin
Local: Humanoids
Planes: Outsiders
Religion: Undead

This replaces Favored Enemy.

Take note: Rangers get 6+INT to skillpoints, so this means even with a flat 0 to int, they can put ranks into knowledge to gain bonuses vs everything.

Some anons argue this makes the Ranger MAD (Str/Dex for combat), (Wis for spells), (INT for ranger lore) but the counter rebuttal is that they can use guided weapons to alleviate the issue anyways.
>>
>>44418551
I mean. It's not like 50% of the spells are broken. It's like less than 5% that are offensive. You're really overreacting.

So /pfg/, I want to build a character centered on Great Old Ones, Lovecraftian horrors, and all those things. Sort of like CoC professor-type, who gained eldritch powers, but went insane. What class/build/etc would it be? A refluffed Wizard sounds boring.

>>
>>44418551
If you care about a setting getting ridiculous due to a few spells, then come to an agreement with your players to alleviate that. Banning, restricting, or reworking a few spells is a less extreme approach than neutering the entire game. I don't see why this is an issue.

The Warrior, Expert and Adept can functionally be a boon to a group without stealing any established roles.

Warriors have full BAB and fewer feats than the Fighter.

Experts have access to all skills but without being the supreme skill monkey like the Bard and Rogue.

Not sure if it fixes anything or if it's truly a houserule, but it's fun. Every NPC that has to be statted has a PC class. If the character in question is not a martial (I use PoW) or caster (psionics and pact magic go here), it's some sort of rogue. The class level is ususally character's age divided by six, starting at adulthood (children an minors are never statted because reason), and then modified by the NPC's supposed rank or expertise. Also, there's a megaton of adventurers who roam the lands and are not subject to any restrictions.

Unfortunately, some class archetypes grant leadership, so you may as well address a fix instead of a ban.

Speaking of Leadership. I take it usually after I gain some base of operations. The cohorts usually oversee it and defend if needed (they are either more then capable commanders or casters), and most of the followers are valets/innkeepers/merchants/spies/whatever, scattered throughout the world, so I don't need to bother with inn stays/infiltrating guilds/finding a fence/etc.

It's actually implied somewhat that Albedo might be a Nalfeshnee. Shaltear calls her a "gorilla," she's got high physical combat power rather than magical, and she does that creepy wide-mouth thing that none of the other D&D fiends sport. More likely it's that succubi in overlord 'eat men' in an unseductive way, kinda like how shelltear's true form is an ugly long tongued lamprey thing. Albedo's stats can easily be explained by her job levels which are all tanky as fuck.

>10 guardian

Anyone know anything about the Blood War (The fight between devils and demons?)
Lay me down with some lore.
How badass do you have to be to get hired as a mercenary?
>>
>>44418515
I try hard not to let myself get too carried away with fixes to any D&D 3oid. It always tries to get away from me and turn into making a complete new system.

I independently did almost all of these >>44418894, and I'll probably start using the ones I don't already

Beyond that, I allow a good number of options, am easy about letting people that gimped themselves (eg, playing fighter/rogues) rebuild, and play with people that are not asses that get their jollies out of abusing the campaign with the most terrible spells.

I know for a fact it doesn't exist. I've checked every issue of Dragon and Dungeon from 3.0 onwards, as well as even the obscure setting books.

The closest we've got is Dread Witch, which does it for fear effects, or hitting them with Humanoid Essence/Spark of Life beforehand.
>>
>>44420846
>How badass do you have to be to get hired as a mercenary?
Do you want to be paid? Then you have to make it worth their while. The devils, that is. The demons are as likely to betray you as pay you.

I'm not actually judging the viability, because without knowing the actual campaign, it's a total irrelevancy, but I did look over a bunch of stuff just out of curiosity, and most of it looks accurate enough. Who is crafting those custom unique Wondrous Items for you?

Because anyone could homebrew anything and go "NO THAT CLASS WAS TOTALLY IN THE GAME BECAUSE SEE I WROTE ONE SO IT WAS IN THERE", but that wouldn't make it true.

>Who is crafting those custom unique Wondrous Items for you?
Our GM told all of us that we had access to artisans who would make us combo items. That items for spells would have to be negotiated with him, but items that were merely combinations of existing items could just be plugged into the formula and purchased.

You can't punch Zon-Kuthon in the face unless you are like level 25 and using mythic rules and the same goes for grappling cthulhu. Doing that sort of thing requires going BEYOND the pathfinder rules and beyond level 20.

None of what yo think high level is actually exists. You have to go outside the pathfinder rules for people to be powerful enough to fight gods or cthulhu.

Some advice for fellow DMs.
These are not CR 3 and CR 5. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM. THESE THINGS ARE NOT CR APPROPRIATE. FAST SWALLOW IS TOO STRONG.

Bite for 2d6+6, followed by grab at +12, followed by fast swallow at +12 with an immediate extra 2d6+6 damage then 1d6 each round as they helplessly roll around in the gut.

What? 50% of all attacks dont work against him unless you subject yourself to permenant insanity and he has a death or stagger aura that will cripple anyone without an amazing will save. Not to mention he has wish, SR 41 and immunity to just about everything.

It's only a DC 40. One optimized level 20 fighter could simply kill him. (Hell, I was the guy who posted the fighter above, it could kill him easily, all he'd have to do was buy 1 scroll of true sight. With a +34 will save and rerolls he'd be very likely to pass, and as soon as he passed Cthulhu would be the loser in the situation).

If I changed him slightly specifically to fight Cuthulhu (which is changing out 2 feats and a weapon enchantment). He has a +36 will save and up to 7 rerolls, or a +41 if he needs it.

He does on average per round 656 damage spaced out over 7 attacks. With DR 20 that's -140, plus fast healing that brings it down to -170.

On average one of his attacks misses, so that brings it down another 50. So that's 434 damage per round towards Cthulhu death, or death in 2 rounds.

In contrast Cthulhu only hits him on a 14+. So only a 35% chance of hitting. He can't grab the fighter because Freedom of Movement, and simply won't be able to do enough damage to kill the fighter in time.

The fighter repeats when he reforms. If he's feeling like he is at low health then he uses a Heal scroll.

So for the price of switching 2 feats, one weapon enchantment, and buying a True Sight and a Heal scroll the fighter can easily win.

To add to this, the best option to win for Cthulhu is to wish the fighter away, but the fighter is dimensionally anchored and very likely to pass a save if Cthulhu decides to use the wish for that instead to recreate a spell or undo misfortune. Wishing himself back to full would merely buy time.

Also his mythic surge would help him hit, but not enough to make the difference to kill the fighter unfortunately. Especially if I change 1-2 things around and increase the fighter's AC by 4. I made the fighter more widely effective, a few changes makes him basically as good but also fantastic at killed Cthulhu.
>>
>>44421442
Dimensional Anchor doesn't mean anything against Wish's transport clause, but as you note, the fighter could probably pass anyway.
>>
>>44421413
Unfortunately the wish won't work too well for reasoning I sited >>44421442

Unless he is gonna use the "likely to be fucked over" wish, then that may work.
>>
>>44421458
It doesn't you're right, huh. I thought the wording was "similar effects" not "similar spell-like abilities". Though it is debatable because it is a spell like ability that teleports you, but again the fighter can simply pass the save.
>>
>>44421113
Huh, it's like a weedier version of the Froghemoth. Which is something like CR8-12.
>>
>>44421359
Actually it's not the rule fault here. He just conveniently skips a lot of detail in Perception skill to makes his argument sound better.

> Check: Perception has a number of uses, the most common of which is an opposed check versus an opponent's Stealth check to notice the opponent and avoid being surprised. If you are successful, you notice the opponent and can react accordingly. If you fail, your opponent can take a variety of actions, including sneaking past you and attacking you.

Perception is also used to notice fine details in the environment. The DC to notice such details varies depending upon distance, the environment, and how noticeable the detail is. The following table gives a number of guidelines.

So there is no freaking Perception check if you are already in combat. Unless you wants to see Cthulu detail for some reason.
>>
>>44421407
A visible creature is a fine detail according to the table, similar to the smell of garbage or the sound of walking.
>>
>>44421533
You are purposefully twisting language to make it seem like you see fine details ABOUT the subject on the table. The table however lists its entries as "details". Not as things you see details about, but the details themselves.
>>
>>44421442
>>44421468
>>44421366
One thing to add! Cthulhu can indeed run if he fears death. However the fighter can merely teleport next to him if he decides to run. If Cthulhu pushes the matter he can indeed disengage and move, but then the fighter can keep up by running. The only way Cthulhu can get away if by taking the run action, which provokes an AoO. However the fighter can not actually trip him to stop his movement due to Cthulhu having a fucking 90 CMD.

So running is a viable strategy for Cthulhu, but will provoke multiple AoOs. He may die just from that because the fighter can take 7 AoOs per round, and he'll trigger several while moving away.
>>
>>44421576
Cthulhu is not a detail. Cthulhu is a geographical feature.
>>
>>44421592
He's a visible creature. I am not trying to say i approve of RAW, i approve of this about as much as i approve of sleep, color spray or the fact you can only "aid another" in a group grapple for a fucking useless +2. But that doesn't make it less true.
>>
>>44421617
>I am not trying to say i approve of RAW
Then why do you keep arguing it, you sausage?
>>
>>44421625
Because the game is played in RAW and if we want to theory craft about fighting cthulhu we have to use RAW or a specific set of DM houserules as its impossible to know what an individual DM will rule.

Also I'm talking about this because you guys are spreading incorrect information about how perception works by RAW. I hate certain rules (like this one) but when you guys are trying to teach people that perception doesn't work the way it does its going to fuck them over in any future RAW arguments.
>>
>>44421654
>Because the game is played in RAW
Not by any sane group.
>>
Cthulhu doesn't just have Wish, he has Mythic Wish.
Which you can use as an Immediate action before a d20 is rolled to decide what the result of that die is.
He can force you to roll a natural 1, which is an automatic failure regardless of bonuses, on anything he wants.
Meaning, he is capable of automatically killing you with his Unspeakable Presence. If you're Immune to Fear, which you could be, he could instead do it with Insanity or Feeblemind.
If you were Immune to Mind-Affecting in general, which you could be, that'd be more challenging, but he could dispel it with Greater Dispel Magic. Actually, Greater Dispel Magic could be used for removing your Immunity to Fear, or turning off any magical items too. It's a useful tool.

It's really stupid cheeky 'MYTHIC' bullshit to be able to just tell someone that they rolled a '1' and auto-failed something, and I agree that it's retarded and that in most cases a party should destroy Cthulhu, BUT in the case of a single person vs. a single Cthulhu, there's a good chance he'd still win.
>>
>>44421576
It's "Notice a visible creature" not "See a visible creature". If you already notice him (ie. Combat already start) there is no needs for perception check.
>>
>>44421654
I have never met a GM who actually played with the "You can't see horses at 100 ft" interpretation of RAW.

Mainly I would say that PFS, and all APs don't use that interpretation. If Paizo doesn't treat their down system that way, why should we during arguments?
>>
>>44421666
He makes me roll a 1, I reroll the save. How many times can he do that?

Because it seems like that is really easily beaten by rerolls. How many dice can he decide?
>>
>>44421660
WHO THE FUCK PLAYS PF AND IS SANE?
Who among us who has stuck with this system can pretend we are rational people or that the people we play with be it in person, on roll20, on play by post or at PFS bullshit is fucking sane? Most people think kineticist is OP.
>>44421671
That's true, but cthulhu has perception +52 so its going to be hard to notice him before he notices you. He will get a surprise round in, but it seems like he can only really use it to run against that fighter.
>>
>>44421676
What makes you think APs dont treat it that way or that PFS doesn't? In PFS you never see something more than 100 feet away anyway since 99% of it is in cramped corridors.
>>
>>44421698
Doesn't Cthulhu shake the ground when he walks?
>>
>>44421707
Because I have actually been to PFS games and am actually (for some fucking reason) licensed to officially run them. As for APs you can get this from Iron Gods and Reign of Winter. Both have examples in just the first book.
>>
>>44421695
In the scenario wherein you get a reroll on a failed save, that lets you succeed against this, I think.
Lots of characters don't get rerolls on failed saves as a non-action, even at 20.
>>
>>44421727
If he can only do it once there is an item that lets you do it once a day. 12k to counter his mythic wish.
>>
>>44421617
Oh you wants to go by RAW? Then there is no needs to stay away from him from even preventing his aura. Just run in and die.

Unlike being unconscious (a condition that makes you helpless), Dead doesn't prevent you from acting by RAW.
>>
>>44421708
Hearing that would probably be easier than seeing him. I forget what the rules are for pinpointing a creature by sound, but it probably does count as noticing like >>44421671 said.
>>
>>44421737
Right, yes, I'm aware of this.
But, as I mentioned, most characters don't buy that item, and/or don't have a granted ability that emulates it.
>>
>>44421740
Dead creatures are inanimate objects by RAW.
>>
>>44421754

>>
>>44421755

>>
>>44421755

>>
>>44421777
>If you're fighting Cthulhu you might as well prepare to fight him. Honestly I buy one of those for all my characters because rerolls are fantastic.

I actually really like that item and I consistently buy it as well, but I completely disagree with the concept that you should know you're fighting Cthulhu before you fight him.
When you start getting into Batman's Infinite Prep-time, the concepts that govern whether something is actually viable start to disappear.
For the sake of the discussion, it was assumed that neither of you knew about the other, or Cthulhu would have his own prep-time to buy his own items and gather his own army and do his own retarded shit that anyone might do when prep-time is available.
Obviously, someone built to kill Cthulhu can kill Cthulhu, yeah? No one needs that particular question answered.
>>
>>44421785
>>44421792
Its a holdover from 3.5. You can target corpses with spells that only affect inanimate objects because they are inanimate objects. I don't think it was ever reprinted in PF, just an assumed rule crossed over from 3.5.
>>
Anyone got some magical realm/ERP campagin stories? I literally am a slutty elf in every game I play.
>>
>>44421740
Dead creatures souls leave their body. All other soul removing effects explicitly state this prevents the creature using that body for its actions, like magic jar, trap the soul etc.
>>
>>44421805
Well, if I was not built to fight him then likely the level 20 fighter I made would have an 'ok' chance at killing him. He has a free action reroll and six normal rerolls. He does enough damage to tear Cthulhu a new one.

I just never wrote what scrolls he carried around (He has the UMD to use them). They would be the following if I wrote a list:
2 Plane Shift
2 Greater Teleport
2 Greater Invisibility
2 Greater Scry
2 True Seeing
2 Heal

Because those are useful scrolls to have sitting around.

So basically unless his consumables had been exhausted and he was yet to buy new ones he would likely win the encounter. Particularly since he can pump his saves to the point only 1s mean he loses, and can beat the mythic wish with a reroll.
>>
>>44421823
And thus by RAW it is not a rule.

>>44421844
>Dead creatures souls leave their body.
Point to the rule that says this.
>>
>>44421846
Yeah, I still think the Fighter you statted above would have a decent chance of winning.

I'm just saying that your Fighter, statted above, is in no way indicative of the average level 20 character. The average level 20 character would suffer significantly more than you, due to their lack of rerolling failed saves.
>>
>>44421855
Dead

The character's hit points are reduced to a negative amount equal to his Constitution score, his Constitution drops to 0, or he is killed outright by a spell or effect. The character's soul leaves his body. Dead characters cannot benefit from normal or magical healing, but they can be restored to life via magic. A dead body decays normally unless magically preserved, but magic that restores a dead character to life also restores the body either to full health or to its condition at the time of death (depending on the spell or device). Either way, resurrected characters need not worry about rigor mortis, decomposition, and other conditions that affect dead bodies.

There isn't a blood war in PF's cosmology, at least not to the extent that Hell would feel any desire to directly employ mercs unless it was a scheme to corrupt them.

In D&D it began as a war between Law and Chaos. Eventually the sides divided further into Good and Evil and mostly chilled out, but the demons and devils never stopped, except for the one time they did long enough to absolutely skullfuck an invading Good army. While they genuinely hate each other, neither side actually cares about the war that much. Asmodeus and the archdukes are more concerned with soul harvesting and pile all the work onto Bel, and the demon princes just haphazardly throw shit at hell because they're infinite.

Bel has to take it seriously and does hire/assist mortals that offer to fight, particularly ones with abilities the devils lack, and he doesn't try to fuck them over with contracts or anything.

The average fighter doesn't have nearly enough optimization. I built that fighter out of necessity because my last few characters got chewed through the grinder that was my friend's level 20 one shots.

My last one was a pre-errata scarred witch doctor, and he barely managed. This fighter is meant to be "survivable".

Also he was built with the same philosophy as that one wizard that gets posted on the forums. It's called like "Lord if the Infinite Wheel" or something. He's in the body of some powerful daemon or demon (can't remember). If anyone could find it I'd love to see it again.

Basically I built the kind of fighter that might be able to be in a party with a wizard of that caliber.

Most of the time it doesn't matter because encounters pop-in like GTA V on the 360. While I've not played through every single one of them I'm quite confident you could have a guy with 60ft altitude and +20 left on his perception at a thousand feet, and even in an open field you'd STILL only get to find out there's something coming - or at the very least get 'cinematic approached' - into melee charge range at the most.

But I'll say that its 75% GMs and 25% adventures; because the majority of the time, it's that range or detection would bypass or ruin the GM's "scripting", and most can't handle this.

Downtime's actually running two of that campaign in different places, after the group turned out too big for one party.

One group is in the west, rebuilding infrastructure and trying to up the standards of living and technological level of the region for the good of all, and the other group has evil undead and is probably planning some kind of anti-life equation with giant robots.
