If the guy talking about doing the B-1-Team is still around, here's my opinion.

I would say not to have your players play true characters at all.

Because the whole point about B-1s is that they're endlessly replaceable, disposable, dopey bastards.

Have an entire warship full of them with an onboard foundry to pump out more. Play them however you like, and if the one you're playing dies then give no shits about it and bring in the replacement.

If you need another role filled, like a pilot or a sniper or hacker, don't try to diversify the abilities each droid has, just give your players multiple droids per person to control.

So in the Saga edition example of play, the Jedi player declares he's using a nearby table as cover after the DM declared the thugs would be shooting at her. What exactly is happening here? Is she using the force to pull a table in front of her? Is she diving towards a table even though it's no longer her turn? Is it just a designer over sight?

The Dark Side can draw energy from any powerful, passionate emotion, including hatred.

Vader completely and utterly loathes himself and what he's become, but feels he can't stop walking the path he's started down.

Other Sith draw power from their ambitions and their hatred for other things, but those can be shaken. Vader hates himself so much that it provides him an almost bottomless well of dark side power.

The most visible thing we see Vader do with the force is throw crap at his opponents and choke people. It's more likely that he focuses on using the force defensively which is why he can tank insane amounts of punishment, or to just plain make himself stronger.

Fighting Vader is like fighting entropy. He might not kill you if you're sufficiently fast and skilled, but he is tireless, remorseless and pitiless. You will not defeat him, he will not stop, and at best you can slow him down. The best you can hope for is escape because while he isn't the fastest, he is implacable and nigh indestructible.

I'd like it if Snoke had a Napoleon complex, he doesn't have to be Yoda or Tyrion sized just a head shorter than the average Storm trooper, because that type of insecurity would humanize him.

I think people don't "get" the acting in the prequels. I know, it sounds pretentious and apologist as fuck, but it's true. Lucas has stated plenty of timed that 30s cinema and film serials, along with 50s samurai films were his biggest influences.
If you go back and watch these works, they feature the same "wooden" acting. It's not inferior, it's intentionally cheesey and melodramatic. Realistic acting dominates modern cinema, and that is what we compare these films to, which is unfair.
Like in a musical, in which characters express themselves by dancing and singing, in Lucas' space operas they act over dramatically and emotionally and narrative setpieces are laid out in a structured, planned manner as to make it more visually appealing.

Take these films are you'd take an opera: they're like dramatic reenactments of a tale from a long, long time ago.

I've had Vader show up in 2 of my EoTE sessions so far and this is how I play him. Granted my players couldn't touch Vader to begin with but yeah - he is walking death.

You run and you pray he doesn't notice you. He is a hound and if killing you is the goal, well he has many resources at his disposal and he is implacable.

Is a full Tie Adv x1 squadron any good? Or better yet, two Tie Adv x1 and a Tie Bomber?

So, did the Integrated Astromech really fix the T-65 X-Wing in XMG?

A few of us in my group of X-Wing players have been trying to run them more, but the problem is the supposed fix just makes the T-70 an even easier pick over the 65. I also still feel it isn't really points efficient in most cases, especially seeing as you have to give up your mod slot to get that fix.

What other potential fixes can people think of for the old girl? My group is considering a simple houserule in the form of a title that just gives it 4 attack, putting it firmly into the glass cannon role it seems to want to fill.

Which is very true, but modern audiences aren't in that mindset anymore. And unfortunately, most of us are not fans of 50s Japanese cinema and depression-era serials, so then nuances of those films are lost on us.

The prequels, if you mute them and have only the soundtrack playing, Attack of the Clones and and Revenge of the Sith come across much better and you can see what he's TRYING to say with them (one is still a mess, but has some very striking moments), but only by divorcing from the dialogue entirely and engaging only the visuals and the music.

And that is unfortunately going back even earlier in cinema history. When was the last time you ever saw a serious silent film? I don't even mean the spoof bits in Singing in the Rain, but an honest to god silent film? Modern audiences aren't in the mindset for that either.

So, in conclusion, George Lucas was very definitely stroking his not-so-inner artist, but as anyone who has ever had to create or to edit can tell you, that's NOT usually a good idea.

Mary Sue =/= Special Snowflake. Yoda's pretty special, but he's not a mary sue because he never steals the show.

A Mary Sue is a character who steps into a scene, and suddenly all of the focus is on that character. The actions of the other characters are based around how they think of THAT PERSON. Their decisions seriously take THAT PERSON's thoughts, feelings, and actions into account, even when it's out of character to do so. Every event has to be based around THAT PERSON, no matter who the viewpoint character is.

In the story that the term Mary Sue comes from, every character either falls hopelessly in love with, is terribly jealous of, or becomes a sycophant of the Mary Sue. She demands attention and fixes the situations by being there, and never comes into any difficult conflict because that would imply that she'd be seen in a negative light (of struggling with something). Adv Homing are crit machines, and that list is all about spamming faceup damage cards. Maarek gets to draw 3 and pick the one he likes the most, which is pretty great, also I don't have the points for concs.

As for the way they play, I find they excel when focusing fire and outmaneuvering less agile ships, while against flimsy, high Ag enemies you can afford to split up and use either an abundance of Crits or Accuracy Correctors to kill them in a couple of turns, while being able to take more hits than such dogfighters. They struggle most against high shield enemies as being unable to spam crits against large HP pools renders them substantially less scary.

Off the top of my head, you could explain this as the droids communicating with each other to look out for enemy sight lines and sensors. Each squad has perfect discipline and efficient communication so more units puts more eyes on the field to notice things that single units might miss, like guard positions or security sensors.

That's pretty much it. Lucas made the movies for himself in most respects. The fact that the audience was willing to pay to see anything he did only set the stage for that creative freedom. His only constraint on the prequels was the producer, who had a decent amount of faith in Lucas.

It's not that they cost a lot, it's that they cost a lot for something that:

Now, missiles are better than torpedoes in this regard since a few of them let you keep the TL for the shot, but:

Point is, a missile or torp is often throwing a lot of attack dice, but without ways to reroll or convert results, you're spending an awful lot of points on a "might hit".

At least with cannons you don't discard the upgrade after the first shot.

I am unsure what I do and do not have at the moment, it just seemed that the collection is very incomplete, skimming through it.

Also, you guys keep your FFG Gameline books completely separate; and on my computer it's all just FFGStarWars, and I've got some extra stuff from last time I GMed the system, like a compilation of all the careers (at the time) in a single document, ripped from the other books; because to me it's all just one game.

I'd suggest EotE as the core book you refer to, and then just allow the content from the other books to be used in your EotE game.

I don't think there's any difference in quality between any of these, only a difference in peoples' ability to run them. Each one has a very specific thematic scope; buy the one that appeals most to you and your players' sensibilities.

As for why people think EotE is better, I think it's much easier to conceptualize. Samurai films, westerns, and their modern reinterpretations; these kinds of stories inundate our culture. It's also a lot more similar to standard medieval fantasy fare in terms of plot/story, where the party has a legitimate excuse to be murderhobos. Contrast that to a more regimented Rebel lifestyle or the strict thematic and moral demands of a Jedi-based story.

I actually have an interesting idea I'm running in my campaign, since it involves a squadron of TIE Phantoms acting like a U-Boat wolfpack.

I thought it would be interesting if Stygium crystals were specifically "lightsaber" crystals harvested from Malachor - and if you socket them in a lightsaber, you can get a black blade. But their tainted because of Malachor.

It also allows the Jedi PC's to sense the wolfpack by the force wake of wailing of the damned

Actual lore? That's a misnomer. There were multiple interpretations and subcontinuities in Legends.

But yes, cortosis and other lightsaber resistant materials were pretty common in the KOTOR era. Every shlub probably didn't have it though.

If you mean nucanon, lightsaber resistant materials aren't really a thing there. Only force-fielded materials can do it.

TOR is set after KoTOR 2. So if you're going through all the games, you'll probably want to hit that with some of the mods that improves it first. So, it looks like I might end up doing a second FFG RPG star wars campaign - this one is looking like an All Jedi Party.

So I had this idea, basically. Setting it in that nebulous 10 year gap between Ep1 and Ep2.
the characters are thrown together in a group for "at-risk padawans" - basically, each character was trained with a master, and over time, developed such a bad relationship with that master, that the they were pulled, and placed into a single class - kinda like discipline case kids getting thrown into a special class. so, that way i can have the characters, as a group, being taught by one master - and get past that whole "the code forbids it" nonsense - also, not overloading on a bunch of NPC's

plus, the master is such an inoffensive cool dude, that his teaching method isnt about limits, its about comradery - so he'll let them go wild (like an old grandpa) and theyll likely love him for it - which is all part of the method. Once they stop feeling persecuted, they can then be softly molded - all the better if they are all pulling together as one

The core method of his teaching is basically this

Philosophy is very Zen in practice, and probably the most radical aspect of this guys teaching. To him, adherence to hardlines doesn't make you a better jedi - discipline is something that must be learned the value of, not forced until its something to be resented. He doesn't even think robes are necessary, because being a Jedi isn't an occupation, its a moral calling - forcing conformity doesn't open you to the force, it narrows vision - the most important aspect to being a Jedi is the value of life, and that life creates the force - once you value life, all those other things like compassion and peace tend to fall into place.

As someone who just recently bought the YT-2400, how does this work specifically well with Dash? Is it just so he can more easily Push the Limit to get into range of a Heavy Laser Cannon on the Outrider?

I stand corrected. Even so, the titles are at their best when the Phantom is docked, which is one less ship on the board that you paid for.

No, this is a ship with Red 1 and 3 turns, and a 5 K. Probably the best of that, is that it's K-turn is 5, and you can throw Kanan on it for shits and grins, and to open up it's stress-shedding moves. Otherwise it's greens are limited to the "Headhunter-standard". Which isn't all that great. Hera's ability is really good for it, but you're still looking at being limited to switching between greens and reds, and at PS 7 with no Vet Instincts option. In other words, Arc-Dodgers be Arc-Dodging for days.

Now, in contrast, Dash's dial has the same maneuvers, but trades the 5-K for a 4. AND, his 1 and 3 turns are all white, with 1-banks being his green instead of 2. Plus he gets an Elite slot.

The Ghost itself is a good ship, and it will be a nice, thematic addition to X-Wing. The crew options are immense, and the Dorsal Turret will be a good fallback for a cheap turret option if you don't want to pay for TLTs on bomber Y-Wings or support HWKs. However, let's not kid ourselves into thinking that somehow the Ghost with Phantom and kibbles added in, is somehow going to rock the meta anywhere close to what a Super-Dash with Kanan on board is going to be capable of. Stress will have nothing on him, as every goddamned non-K maneuver is essentially going to be a green. You can even change it up by throwing Kyle on Dash's ship, and keeping something with Kanan nearby.

Depends on his setup.

Super-Dash was traditionally Dash Rendar with the Outrider, HLC, Kyle riding shotgun, Push The Limit, and Engine Upgrade for extra swank. The idea was slow-rolling/boosting Dash around the board to make his donut unpossible to get into without some serious help. He sheds stress, and gains a focus every turn through Kyle. But it's predictable. You know that for Dash to pull this off, his maneuver will ALWAYS be a 1 or 2 forward, or a 1 bank.

Kanan Super-Dash will trade Kyle for Kanan, and make it so he'll have to use one of his PtL actions to get a Focus. BUT, he can use ANYTHING short of a K-Turn to shed that stress. This means, 3-turns, 4-straights, 1-turn knife-fights, whatever... You have no fucking clue what his dial will be, without Intel Agent.

And if you really wanna be a dick, throw Kyle on Dash's ship, and have a Falcon with Kanan nearby giving him all of the stress-shedding dial along with the free focus every turn.

Kanan is about to be Dash's second best friend.

As mary sue as it sometimes is, I like the idea of unconventional Jedi that still embody what Jedi are supposed to be. One of the main inspiration sources for Jedi is Buddhism - I prefer Zen a lot more - and a Zen Jedi is an interesting idea.

In a lot of ways, Jolee Bindo could be used as an example of a Zen Jedi

My personal preference is to emphasize the Knight aspect of Jedi and turn up the dial on the Chivalry. Jedi PC's I've made in the past have been dragon slayers and damsel rescuers - always ready to jump into the shit on behalf of someone else - even when the rules say "Jedi should literally never do this"

Going to run a Saga Edition game for the first time ever. Got two jedi, a scoundrel and a scout.
We're playing during the early weeks of the jedi purge and i'm doing a 'prequel' private session for everyone.

One on one for everyone except the two Jedi, who will be playing through their first session together. I plan to place them inside the Jedi temple during Anakin's raid.

The Fetts aren't Mandalorians. This is actually going back full circle on Boba, as when he was created he was just a bounty hunter wearing the armor of the Mandalorian Supercommandos.

Note that nowhere within the films are either called Mandalorians. In TCW S2 "The Mandalore Plot," the Mandalorian Prime Minister says that Jango Fett is a pretender and a thug when Obi-Wan tries to say he's a Mandalorian.

Thus far all canon sources that mention the Fetts simply refer to them both as being bounty hunters. Jango wears the armor because it's damn good armor, Boba wears it because his father wore it.

You have a warrior culture that dates back millennia in the EU, everyone is a Warrior + another profession, and they're a combination of Mongolian, Celtic, and Norse cultures. Then you have the best bounty hunters in the galaxy, and of course they're from this culture of total warriors,
they were raised from birth in a culture that had waged wars for thousands of years. They were as good as a non force user could get.

Except now they were just some wandering warrior types with mysterious backgrounds who for some reason were some of the best combatants the galaxy had ever seen.
