Actually, depends on how you read the spell. Personally, I also think it would leave the mental scores alone. That's why the table of possible reincarnations only mentions changes to physical stats.

"A reincarnated creature recalls the majority of its former life and form. It retains any class abilities, feats, or skill ranks it formerly possessed. Its class, base attack bonus, base save bonuses, and hit points are unchanged. Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution scores depend partly on the new body. First eliminate the subject's racial adjustments (since it is no longer necessarily of his previous race) and then apply the adjustments found below to its remaining ability scores."

When it says to eliminate racial adjustments to your stats, I think it's only referring to the physical stats, based on the sentence coming before that says the physical stats are partially dependent on the new form.

That all said, pulling a Reincarnation in your backstory for better stats is a scummy thing to do.

Well actually, another way of reading it is that it removes ALL racial bonuses, and then you only apply the changes from the table. If the table doesn't have anything for mental stats, then you don't get any bonuses to mental stats that aren't listed even if the race would normally give them.

Which means JJ is taking a deliberately powerful reading of the effect for his waifu.

I mean the obvious answer is it's a JJ OC so it gets super special stats in a non-legal way to allow him to fudge the point buy and do shit like drop his wisdom to fucking 7. I don't mind min maxing but I do mind obnoxious cheating and pretending it's totally fine because it's part of the story. This isn't even fucking part of the character's story as ti happened when she was an infant so it's LITERALLY ONLY THERE to give her stats. The Druid could've just found a baby they planned to enslave. Or a million other things.

As something that happens to the character after they've come in, and with the random element inherent in the Reincarnate spell, yeah I would agree that it's okay to do that.

But just saying "My backstory is that I was born a (race with awesome mental bonuses) but then got killed. Fortunately someone cast Reincarnate to bring him back. I agree that it's open-ended and that it's a scummy move in either case. I'm not bothered by the idea of reincarnating into a race that gives you better stats, because you've also got a chance of reincarnating into something with worse stats and seeing strange things like that happen can make the game interesting anyway. But using it as a backstory element and picking what you come back as is sketchy in my opinion. I don't know if I could trust a player doing it no matter how many times they told me they weren't doing it for the stats, unless the stats really didn't help them much at all.

I'd be more inclined to accept it if it did totally wipe away your old stat adjustments, mental ones included, and replaced them with the new ones, mental stats included (which is obviously not how it works RAW). At least then you can't squeeze stat bonuses out of the spell.

That's not how that reading of the spell works either. He's suggesting that you only ever change the physical stats after a Reincarnate spell. The mental ones remain unchanged, neither losing the old race's modifiers or gaining the new race's modifiers.

The problem then is that you could take a race with good mental scores like an elf and then reincarnate into something with physical bonuses but mental penalties, to end up with net gain that's normally not possible.

In the case of an orc reincarnating into an orc, the stats would remain unchanged.

This thing where you seem to thing multiple Reincarnate spells somehow stack is just wrong. Whenever you're subject to Reincarnate, you lose your race's physical adjustments (positive or negative) and then gain the new race's physical adjustments (positive or negative). Mental stats are left unchanged; you keep the stat adjustments of your original race.

You might be able to argue the case that you could lose a change to a mental stat in a case like that, but it wouldn't be RAW anymore. It also still couldn't lead to cycling Reincarnate spells into a stat of 0, because if you can gain that penalty for reincarnating into that race, you should be able to lose it for reincarnating out of that race.

Spellslinger gives you x3 crit multiplier on your spells, and the ability to add gun enhancement bonuses to spells shot through the gun. Named bullet makes any ranged attack auto crit. Do the math.

I got the go-ahead to build a PoW character, which is going to be a Dex-based AoO/Trip-based Polearm fighter.

If you're dipping Fighter, you want to go Lore Warden Myrmidon 4/Warlord n, with Practiced Initiator (Warlord).

Use the myrmidon maneuvers to set up prerequisites for your Warlord maneuvers at level 5 (with IL 5, so you can pick up 3rd-level maneuvers), and just focus on maneuvers that don't use your Mymidon IM (wisdom) because Warlord's is Cha.

Well, Lore Warden is a bit Int based, while Myrmidon is Wis. Personally I would go Mutation Warrior, bit Lore Warden does help you a lot more in the skill and versatility department

I recommend grabbing Dancing Spear style asap though and keep the full Myrmidon levels so you can get weaponweapon training at 5th and plly its benefits to all polearms and Spears, especially since it also give you Finesse with those weapons which would help being a Dex build. After you get training in both Spears and polearms, spend the rest of your Weapon Training on some advanced Weapon Training stuff, like the one that grants skill points.

She's only level 8, polymorph any object is level attained at level 16, which would be one of the few semi-permanent means of doing it. Generally 16th level spellcasting is hard to find I imagine, not many people are that high level wizards/sorcerers. I am unsure elixir of sex shift would work properly on someone between sexes.

I'd say she likely hasn't because she can't yet, simply by availability of proper magic.

Just read through the entirety of Reign of Winter, the Shackled Hut and here's what I found out, all the characters I chose were those where the gender was mentioned and their Intelligence was above 3.

The bias towards hostile males could be either because the books are targeted towards male players (same for video games, most games have male antagonists to match male protagonists), or it could because of some in built hatred by paizo. Hey can someone help me clarify some things about Insinuator Antipaladin?
The Ambitious Bond ability says i have to take a single outsider of my Invoked Outsider's alignment but otherwise works as the antipaladin ability. The antipaladin ability says i need to take either a fiendish animal or something with the chaotic or evil subtypes. RAW doesn't this mean i have to take an outsider with the chaotic or evil subtype meaning i cant summon LN or N outsiders with this ability?

Also the list is very limited unless i take Summon Evil monster, which is a bizzare feat for a guy who can only use the spell through this one ability and lacks spellcasting otherwise.

Oh hang on, i see. My Outsider Servant doesn't have to be an "Outsider" it uses the term Outsider Servant to refer to the creature summoned by the ability.
So i can also have a Fiendish Animal, so long as it is of the alignment of my Invoked outsider. Since animals summoned by Summon Monster are always my alignment, this means i should invoke my own alignment so i can get Fiendish Animals instead of Outsiders whilst I've got the low level summon monster spells.

Its a shame it doesn't seem to remove the "Fiendish Animal or Chaotic or Evil subtype" clause, because the ability to summon Elementals when i invoke them would be very cool.

Is there any reason that Synthesist wouldn't work with an Unchained Summoner?

Also, what is the best argument I can make to reassure my DM than Synthesis isn't overpowered?

If the monster is meant to be a martial, then martial classes are +1 CR per level.

If the monster is meant to be a caster, then caster classes are +1 CR per level.

If you give a caster monster martial levels or you give a martial monster caster levels, then they're +1/2 CR per level for a number of levels equal to the original CR, after which they're +1 CR.

So an ogre fighter 5 is +5 CR, a succubus sorceress 4 is +4 CR, an ogre wizard 2 is +1 CR, a succubus fighter 4 is +2 CR.

Since an ogre is CR 3, only the first 3 levels of wizard are 1/2 CR, and an ogre wizard 6 would be CR... +4, technically, with rounding. And since a succubus is CR 7, only the first 7 levels of fighter are 1/2 CR, so a succubus fighter 14 would be... CR 17.


Of course, like Pathfinder in general, it overvalues martial abilities and undervalues caster abilities, but that's the RAW as I can remember.

Actually, no, fuck that: the CR rules *wholesale* are just awful. Don't rely on them. They might get you in the ballpark, but the ballpark is still give or take 50% (barring extreme cases), and absolutely inappropriate shit is well within the margin of error.

tl;dr: SLAs, some spammable, combined with lifesense.

It can teleport at will, fly, and has lifesense, which is basically blindsight as far as PCs are concerned. It can create magical darkness that the PCs can't see in but it can still locate them automatically, can create antilife shells to fuck melees, has constant entropic shield to annoy archers, can cast silence to fuck casters, can cast dispel magic at will, and can cast enervation.

Basically, for a monster of its CR it has a lot of ways to shut down the PCs, and can teleport around as much as it wants, especially with greater teleport. Hit and run tactics are viable, and prebuffing is also viable. One sceaduinar is a pain, even more so for a low-level party, but multiple sceaduinar are much scarier.

Actually, I'm looking at the Reincarnate rules, and that's relatively reasonable:

Where this fucks up, on the other hand, is that she was an infant when she was reincarnated, so honestly, there's absolutely no reason to apply the reincarnation rules. She's spent 99% of her life as her current race, her birth race honestly shouldn't matter. And I'm pretty sure an infant won't have poison use or hand crossbow powers.

I prefer my bards suave, seductive, and totally in control of the situation.

I am running a dungeon crawl for my group over break and I need some advice. The party knows this will be way more combat focused than normal campaigns, however, they (intentionally) rolled up weak characters. We have a fighter archer build, unchained monk, dragon disciple, and paladin archer build. I tried to steer them a little bit, but they were adamant on their choices.

Do I just nerf the dungeon to their level or kill them off if they fail?

I'm sure by now there's a Pathfinde Tomb of Horrors, and if not, 3.5's isn't that hard to convert on the spot.

However there IS Rappan Athuk, which has a dedicated Pathfinder Version. It's about as insanely hard as Tomb of Horrors and Temple of Elemental Evil.

There's also the official Emerald Spire for Pathfinder, which is also a megadungeon. Not sure if it's as hard, though.

Irabeths father is a Lawful Good Orc, Pure Blood Orc, that got his hand on a Holy Artifact.

Evil Races aren't inherently Evil in PF, I just don't think they focus on exceptions because people would start screaming Warcraft at the top of their lungs.
