Well it's a Boyes A/T rifle, which was obsolete by the start of the war and wasn't really used past 1940. Never put a scope on it to use as anti-material as for as I'm aware. But it's being used alongside a Sten Mk5, which is a '43/'44 weapon. In what looks to be the western desert, where Thompsons were the SMG of choice.

But then again it's anime so at least they are from the same war.

Eh Boyes were obsolete against most tanks, but, they still tracked all tanks, still pen'd armoured cars and were still great against troops in heavy cover.

They were used as support weapons after 40, but not as main AT shit. It was more "track that vehicle, then put a grenade in it's engine/cupola" or "there is a sniper hiding in that house, left of the window, shoot the wall" and the wall would explode. It was essentially a .65cal gun, which meant it pen'd houses and gun shields.

Nobody used it for trying to shoot a tank through it's front armour unless it was an insane shot and could put it through the view port or MG port or something.

Some of the Chinese knockoff pistols from the 30s were really interesting.
They just gave the guns to some smiths, who took them apart and just copied what they found. Stuff like makers marks and everything. And as a result you got things like iron sights that are blocked by the hammer of the pistol. Numbers and letters in places that don't make sense/have no meaning, metal stamps that make the gun more brittle and likely to jam.

The craziest shit comes out of there, because they got really good at copying foreign guns with tools given to them by/stolen from the Brits, the Americans and the Russians. These days they mostly just make crazy shit to sell to Americans because "antique" guns can be brought back into the states without question.
