you ever have one of those games where you seem to have the perfect silver bullet to steal the game?
>playing wrexial
>bobrygmos drops a choke
>sets me back about 4 lands, still have nonbasics for blue mana tho
>remember earlier in the game when a player used fact or fiction, realize the perfect answer is in their graveyard
>get to my turn without anyone realizing or at least not doing anything about it
>cast beacon of unrest, ask tasigur for his graveyard
>slap his stormtide leviathan down
>now lands don't untap at all
>leave two mana open for a countersquall while I beat people to death with a giant catfish
>the only player who runs a lot of spot removal was almost tapped out at the time and doesn't have the mana to do anything about it
>after I killed the first player the other 2 scooped
>shitfuckle boborygmos takes that choke out of his deck

it's wonderful when it happens but I don't think I'll have a game fall into my lap that smoothly again for a while
>>
Has anyone made a successful old Drana list? I'm thinking MBC, but what else are my options (besides Vampire tribal).
>>
>>43904220
>Cheeky Shit
Daretti Stax is entirely possible. Use any possible card to ramp him to T2 or T3.
Then use Stax stuff. Crack the Earth, Tremble, Smokestack, Winter Orb, Static Orb, Storm Cauldron.
Then use Land Destruction. Ruination, Wildfire, Destructive Force, Epicenter, etcetcetc.
Your only big creatures should be Myr Battlesphere and Nullstone Gargoyle.
>>
>>43904318
take literally any MBC list and put drana as the commander instead and it still works.

>it doesn't get exiled at all, fucking retard
>Ashling player decides fuck it

You're going to have to be more specific if that resource doesn't help you.

Generally It's either control goodstuff deck where ojutai is just a beater, or its a midrange deck with some voltron capabilities and kills with commander damage. Here's a hint ; Untap it or give it vigilance.

Sigarda or Dragonlord Dromoka? Which one is the better sounding GW voltron general?

built in hexproof on Sigarda is good but it should be easy to slap hexproof or shroud on Dromoka and then suit her up with swords and shit.
>>
>>43904879
Sigarda is just WAYYYYY more resilient and efficient given her built-in hexproof and sacrifice clause. For can't be countered run things like leyline of lifeforce and for his other effect run grand abolisher, dosan, and city of solitude.
>>
>>43904835
avarice amulet is a pet card of mine for any deck that likes having its commander out a lot.

But otherwise, idk, most sigarda lists I see are just enchantress voltron. I guess they wouldn't spring for any controlly good stuff. your unique cards seem like alright choices tho
>>
>>43904879
use both. Switch the general depending on meta. Dromoka is better in a blue-heavy environment, but Sigarda has more firepower due to being cheaper.
>>
>>43904879
I'm partial to the lifelink ability honestly, and you're right that you can slap hexproof or shroud on Dromoka. Throw Stoneforge Mystic in and you're good.
>>
I hate people who get salty when they lose, like it's a part of the game.

>turn 1 flooded strand into steam vents (needed the red mana), tap 1 for sol ring, tap for izzet signet
>alara guy gets annoyed, "bro no one else wanted to play anyway"
>they all drop a land and pass
>drop an island, cast goblin electromage (why does that not sound like his name), sapphire medallion, pass
>they do some nonsense, one guy casts a bolt at karlov
>karlov player furious, angrily moves his commander
>my turn, cast melek and pass, revealed card is arcane melee
>karlov is cast again with nothing else
>my turn, reveal seething song (best card ever), drop land cast melee. Cast song, copy with melek, copy song with twin cast( revealed under song).
>so much mana, cast young pyromancer
> everyone scoops, karlov guy starts hitching about free advantage and fair decks
>told him I had a perfect opening and draws, I couldn't have stacked it better if I wanted to
>Said young pyromancer was unfair and should be banned with seething song

I didn't have the chance to explain that his main problem was casting a fucking karlov with no lifegain or protection anywhere, but I digress

>goblin electromage
the card you're looking for is goblin electromancer.

Are there any good R/B enchantment synergy cards?
I'm running Mogis with around 20 enchantments and the only thing like that I have is Thoughtrender Lamia.
I was also considering adding white, but I like Mogis as the commander.
The deck is a lot of discard, LD, wrath, resource denial type stuff, and I like that him and the enchantments can survive through a Jokulhaups and keep hitting people in the face
Is there a R/W/B commander better suited for this kind of thing?
Other general card suggestions welcome

For the Kalemne deck I've yet to make a decklist on tappedout... or any of my decks for that matter. For what I can tell you:
* I usually bust it out in a 2 to 3 player game. It packs instants that react to opponents spells (I'm talking 1 to 2 mana spells like God's Willing, Apostles Blessing, Boros Charm, and Valorous Stance)
* Equipments are amazing on her since she can hold them well.
* I use the three red Evoke dudes to EXP her.
* I use various creatures that can sweep smaller dudes as my board wipes. Elesh Norn, Magma Giant, Thundercloud Shaman, Sunblast Angel, and the like.
* I try not to over-extend and always have an Instant at the ready.
* I have killed people in 4 player games, but never seemed to have won the entire thing. Granted I made a few mistakes here and there in hindsight.

Honestly, she's really fun. Other possible routes you can take her is Giant Tribal, Angel Tribal, or hell, even Artifact-Matters. (Think a beatdown Daretti deck.) The latter I want to test out one day, but focus more on aggro/artifact recursion/proliferate than straight up combo. (Something Daretti does much much easier.)

>>43905403
>use the three red Evoke dudes to EXP her.
I don't think this works. She cares about you casting. You're casting them for cheap. I could be wrong, the rules are fucky like that sometimes.
>>
>>43905523
Evoke casts are sometimes more expensive though.
>>
>>43905523
>When you play a spell by paying its evoke cost, its mana cost doesn't change. You just pay the evoke cost instead.
>>
>>43905523
alternative costs don't change the attribute labeled the "mana cost" of the spell. cyclonic rift is always a 2cmc spell even when you pay 7 to overload it. shriekmaw is always a 5cmc spell even when you pay 2 to evoke it
>>
so I've been in two separate games now where some retard doesn't get the difference between an ETB and a cast trigger and it ends up to nearly flipping the table rage that prematurely ends the game. is there anything in the comprehensive rules that specifically defines the difference so I can fucking print it out and carry it around in my deck box?

>>
>>43905645
>601.2h Once the steps described in 601.2a-g are completed, the spell becomes cast. Any abilities that trigger when a spell is cast or put onto the stack trigger at this time. If the spell's controller had priority before casting it, he or she gets priority.

>603.6a Enters-the-battlefield abilities trigger when a permanent enters the battlefield. These are written, "When [this object] enters the battlefield, . . . " or "Whenever a [type] enters the battlefield, . . ." Each time an event puts one or more permanents onto the battlefield, all permanents on the battlefield (including the newcomers) are checked for any enters-the-battlefield triggers that match the event.
>>
>>43905691
forgot to add, calmly explain how the triggers are different. a cast trigger happens when you place the ability on the stack and very few things can counter it.

If you ever get the chance, printing out the comprehensive rules and making some tabs for useful sections is a very good idea. my last semester of college I still had 300 pages worth of credit for the university printers so I printed off the entire comprehensive rule book and put it in a 3-ring binder

Cathedral and New Benalia are pretty terrible. Not sure why you're running Melira. Even with an enchantress theme I don't see Ghostly prison belonging in Sigarda. I really like Darksteel Mutation (ran it for a very long time in Uril). Honestly I don't think card selection is the deck's biggest problem, I think it's the fact that you're splitting the baby and running so much equipment alongside your enchantress package.

>>43904879
Sigarda hands down. If you can stick regeneration or indestructibility on her she's almost impossible to get rid of. Cavern of Souls, Dosan, etc can help you stick her.

Both Mizzix and Arjun, from my experience, are equally unfun to play against. Both just turn into infinite masturbation by turn 4 and you'Re lucky if you get to take your next turn within the next 20 minutes, after cycling through 4 different hands yourself because of forced drawing.

Here's the Rakdos list:
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/29-05-15-gvk-rakdos-lord-of-riots-edh/
Its my pride and joy. I've been building it and tuning it for the past two years.
Basically you do nothing the first 3 turns except play a pinger, then play Rakdos turn 4, then go off turn 5, then win turn 6. I'm hoping to get a chrome mox for the deck to speed up this process.
I don't even have a decklist for my Dralnu deck yet. It is in the PRE-alpha stages of development. The idea of the deck is to basically play all the lich type cards(like nefarious lich and Demonic Pact) along with some uncontrolled life-loss cards(demonic tutelage and Pitiless Horde) and give them to an opponent with sky-swallower or donate. VERY casual, unreliable idea that I'm just putting together for fun. Here are the cards I have put aside for it so far:
>Sky Swallower
>Donate
>Demonic Pact
>Immortal Coil
>Phage the Untouchable
>Summoner's Egg (Phage and Sky Swallower) Shenanigans)
>Endless Whispers (See "Summoner's Egg)
>Nefarious Lich
>Colfenor's Plans
>Abyssal Persecutor
>Dark Tutelage
>Repay In Kind
>Plunge into Darkness
>Witchbane Orb(so people can't give me the stuff back)
>Herald of Torment
>Pitiless Horde
>Dark Prophecy

-Have cast Shu Yun with 15 mana before

-Once dumped three full hands of creatures in a single turn with Rakdos

-Have yet to have a Yasova game where someone doesn't get triggered by me taking their creature
-Have forced numerous UGx babbies to kill their own Prophet in response to me taking it

-Once made a 40,000/40,000 Thromok (sac'd 100 tokens), then played a Fungal Sprouting. Doubling season, Primal Vigor, and Parallel Lives were ALL out. The two games going on nearby all had a good laugh, as everyone commented about how this was why EDH was made.

>>
>>43915661
Today I kinda went apeshit with Rakdos. He's gonna have to lay low for a while and hope the game doesn't become legend.

>Turn 6
>Lim Dul's Hex hits 3 opponents
>Rakdos gets a full connect, so -9
>1 mana for Kozilek
>Play the Sol Ring I drew
>BB for Sidisi
>Self sac, tutor Winnower
>Drop him for free
>Drop Soul of New Phyrexia for free
>Drop Artisan of Kozilek for free
>Dat cast trigger
>Reanimate Sidisi
>Self sac, tutor Blightsteel
>3 mana for Blightsteel
>Still got mana up for Undying Evil

Game went Archenemy very quickly, but they couldn't get through the Winnower. They were chaining that Eternal Witsnake with Meren to Blustersquall me down every turn, but soon after Sheoldred got back Sidisi and Dread Cacodemon put a stop to that bullshit because Meren couldn't be recast due to being even.

Fucking Winnower man. They didn't even care about Blightsteel or Rakdos, Winnower was THE problem for them.

She has very modest CA potential and locks you into an extremely weak strategy. If you must play monowhite use Heliod.

>>43915592
That way it's your fault when they lose because you're "too competitive," not their fault for making misplays and running shitty cards. Stomping them with precons, like I did to a "casual" group I play with last weekend, shuts that down pretty quickly.

>>43915572
>recommendations
Build some kind of control next. Maybe stax or MBC.

>Stories
My Uril deck won a 20+ turn game once. Opponent was running a Brion prison deck, which managed to kill Uril a couple of times and resolved a land wipe. I cast Sigarda with my survivng dorks and rocks, which stopped him from doinking the last of my life total with Brion. There was a hilarious moment when he cast Devastating Dreams, dumping his hand and wiping his own land. I drew a second white source just in time to sneak Serra's Embrace under some other mana wipe and safely punch him to death.

yea gimmick is not the problem and neither is money. Look if i am into EDH i have probably been playing for a while and have a lot of old powerful cards that i don't get to ply with in other formats. Lets name a place for Niv Mizzet besides as a commander. How am i an asshole for putting a tropical island in my deck when i have own once scene beta?
>>
How do I compete in a high-power / high budget meta when i don't have money to dump? My LGS has a lot of legacy players, and as such EDH nights are filled with people who have access to a lot of expensive, powerful cards. Dual lands, force, mana crypt, ect.

My problem is that I am not a legacy player, and I don't have a lot of cash to throw around to not get trashed at a casual edh tournament.

I don't really care what playstyle, what colors. I just want to be able to stand next to these guys and not tumble over.

tl ;dr how do i make a competitive deck with very little money?

Where did I say that I did that sort of thing myself, dipshit? Also, tuning and having an arms race are two different things. Tuning is just improving your deck while having an arms race is adding cards to deal with another person's deck specifically.

Alright, I need some help:

Hmmm, on deeper thought I might just go R/B/W Zurgo and use the pieces of the Boros and Orzhov Commander 2015 that haven't been broken up into my other decks. That way I can use the many "entry" effects I want to use.

Come to think of it, if I do this Mardu deck and a Gruul deck (I'd probably go with Angry Omnath and Elemental tribal) I'll have a commander deck for every possible color combo:

>Mono Red: Ashling kills everything and everybody
>G/W/B: Ghave, swarms of tokens and counters and much sac
>G/W/B (many shared cards): Doran the Treefolk Tribal
>R/U: Mizzix multiplayer mayhem (totally chaotic, 100% political, and not competitive)
>G/U: Ezuri's exotic elfish zoology
>W/U: Noyan-dar, roil masseuse
>B/U: Szadek voltron, but changing to Phenax, God of Walls
>R/W/B: Zurgo Zerg rush, kekeke (haste/entry effects with allies and giants?)
>R/G: Omnath elemental tribal (bffs with Titania)

You can expect him to design all 5 decks after Ezuri's Predation.

If I made her shit because of the lack of Skullcombo, it's because that being her strongest ability is actually limiting.

If you give a token any other equipment it's kind of just an okay token. If she was able to give any other creature some equipment then she suddenly becomes more flexible either as a general or in the 99. Without clamp, Nahiri is pretty mediocre and that says a whole fucking lot about her as a whole.

I've been dabbling with Grixis in standard lately and yeah, I'm actually enjoying it there.

Though there's not a whole lot of commanders in U/B/R that'd interest me. Jeleva seems like the most unique out of all of them, since Thraxi and Sedris are pretty basic graveyard fumbling.

U/B would probably mostly interest me for the milling aspect. Phenax and Szadek both sound like they could be fun and rather effective, though Wrexial and Lazav are probably more interactive I'd assume.

>>
>>43919723
He did play a part as consult this year for Magic: Origins, but don't remember anything being said about Commander 2015. Anyways, cards like that are "broken" in the the sense that they break (not bend) the color pie. Green isn't allowed creature removal without having creatures already present on-board. Also, Red isn't allowed removal like that (on it's own), even if it's random. Cards like that undermine the color pie's purpose and no format of Magic, under any circumstances, should be allowed exceptions. That is not to say that color bleeds shouldn't be allowed. Worlds like Innistrad or New Phyrexia beg for it. It's unavoidable and in fact are a very helpful tool for design. Mark is aware of that and is open to it.

However, this does not all mean that colors are set in stone on what they can or cannot do. Magic constantly changes and needs that change for new design space to feel fresh. In fact, with this next coming set, it was told that Mark was convinced by an R&D member of something he once thought a color can't do. So I'm excited for that.
>>
>>43919943
Her ult is the main problem. If she became a creature for +0 until end of turn like Gideon and picked up an equipment on her way out she would be usable. That plus a second 1/1 token on her +2 would make her good.

Not an expert on her, but it's using somewhat voltron-ish tricks to keep her alive when you need to and to get as many free triggers before you set the bomb off.
She's basically a chargeable anger of the gods on legs with potential to get a pretty huge body if there is no need to use her for a wipe.
She can also defend herself against targeted removal, since you'll just blow her up in revenge and kill the rest of the board alongside her.

Can be pretty fun and surprisingly political to play.

She's dirt cheap to cast, so it doesn't matter too much if she dies and you can get her out quick. If you have Opal Palace, she actually comes back more dangerous each time she dies. You can slowly build her counters up and voltron her to survive her own blast. Using mana and damage acceleration means that she can easily insta kill all players with about 8 or 9 counters on her.

Essentially she's a cheap, repeat-use, at-will boardwipe. The biggest drawback being that she'll possibly kill you and anything you put out as well.

I've also tried mill with Oona, but it's just too slow.

Everything you said is stuff he says all the time. It's true, for the most part; my problem is that he is not consistent with the shit he says. For instance, blue's weakness is supposed to be that it can't answer things once they enter the battlefield, but Pongify and bounce spells are okay (They aren't actually removal guys), and shit like Claustrophobia has been printed every set since the dawn of time. If that thing hits one of your creatures in most formats, they might as well just Doom Bladed your creature.

>B-but creatures an integral part of the game and thus every color needs answers to them!
Sure, but then things like card advantage are also integral part of the game and every color, even white, should get access to it.

All the non-blue colors are held in place pretty tightly. There's actually some precedent for Song of the Dryads, despite Maro's bitching and moaning.
>>
>>43921157

I'm still tuning so no final list. I've been experimenting with different combos of stuff I've seen on EDHREC and also am waiting to acquire some of the more expensive cards (Gauntlet of Power, Basilisk Collar).

I will tell you some must-haves though:

>Magebane armor
>Darksteel plate
>Opal Palace
>Blade of the Bloodchief
>Ring of Valkas
>Caged Sun, overflowing chalice, thran dynamo and anything that can give you some beefy mana ramp in red
>Red card draw/discard
>Stuffy Doll
>Repercussion
>Gratuitous Violence, Dictate of the Twin Gods and anything else that doubles damage
>Grafted exoskeleton, but some groups might scorn infect in EDH

The biggest disadvantage I've encountered is that people can see what you are doing a mile away and don't like their creatures getting wiped, so you are prime target #1. Go fast and fuck the po-lice.

This, and red is held TOO tightly, both mechanically and flavorwise. I've bitched about this many times though, instead I'll focus on something positive - I think green is in a great place. Everything about it makes sense from the very beginning of the game. It promises nature magic and big ass creatures from the get-go and doesn't disappoint on the follow through. And if that's not your taste, there's always elves.
>>
>>43921331
Fellow Ashling bro here, you forgot to mention Glacial Chasm so you don't nuke yourself with Grafted Exoskeleton. I would also caution using stuff like Magebane and Darksteel on the grounds that one of her biggest strengths is being able to nuke herself. It's less threatening with Tuck being axed (my group still uses it), but control magic and/or threatened effects still exist. The former is particularly difficult to deal with in mono red if you're not using REB/Pyroblast.

Blue is allowed Polymorphism effects. Although, with Pognify he prefers that the creature is not destroyed, instead exiled as so the original creature cannot be brought back (kind of breaks the flavor too). As far flickering and tapping down creatures, Blue can do that.

White, I don't believe is allowed card as advantage, card draw is fine though. At the very least, it should be the weakest of colors for either.

Yeah, looking at your list, I see we are playing her a little differently. Magebane and Darksteel are actually more for protection from my playgroup than herself as certain other players use other massive non-combat damage shenanigans or nasty, swinging voltrons. I'm taking exoskeleton out. I had good jolly fun with it once but some other members suggested that it was amusing that one time, but they're not too enthusiastic about infect in EDH. "Blue can do that" is a retarded answer that completely misses the point; Pongify and Pacify auras are overturning blue's "weakness" of not being capable of answering things once they get on the battlefield. Much like Ezuri's Predation breaking the color pie even though green can do tokens and fighting, any card that lets blue answer shit on the battlefield break the color pie, even if "blue can do that."
>>
>>43921856
my biggest issue with these destroy/exile and replace spells is they're too mana efficient. polymorph is a 4cmc sorcery that could potentially whiff and make your situation worse. these spells are low cmc instant speed that can turn a game ending threat into a vanilla punk ass token you can deal with more reasonbly. they definitely break the color pie in what they accomplish, and they trample all over the rules of how blue's removal is supposed to be shittty.
>>
>>43921937
Blue could maybe get a good (cheap/efficient) removal thats temporary maybe?

Yeah, both Red and Black have issues with enchantments. Red can't do it because it can't destroy intangible things. Black can't do it because it has trouble killing things that don't necessarily bleed, i.e artifacts.

Personally, I love playing with Jalira.

Very, very wrong. He answers color pie questions, especially about Blue all the time. In facts, makes entire days focused on such topics. Hate him as you wish if that's what makes you happy. Just remember that there are a lot of other people that take part in the game and he is not the sole source of all the things you love and hate about the game.

If you want someone who's not MaRo, but is extremely knowledgeable about the color pie and posts content regularly, look up Sarpadiaempiresvol-viii on tumblr. The guy's articles are well written and informative.

So this is my first time posting my list, so i decided to see how colors are represented between my commanders.
red-6
black-7
white-7
blue-8
green-7
blue used to be my least favorite color and its is the most represented color. My favorite color combo is g/b/w, so I think I might build that next, although I am thinking about taking apart a few decks. Mainly trostani, maelstrom wanderer, and shu yun. Trostani is too durdly, shu yun aside from being a meme one shots someone and then I get ganged up on, and Maelstom Wanderer, although fun started off as a janky fun deck that turned into good stuff that isnt fun to play anymore.

>prefers that the creature is not destroyed, instead exiled as so the original creature cannot be brought back
How is this fair at all. This is the kind of shit that just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. It should be INSANELY hard to exile a creature without significant drawbacks, and a polymorphed token is hardly a drawback. Especially when you consider blue also has bounce, which to token creatures is ALSO exile.
>>
>>43921776

Your group sounds like it needs to grow up if it's bitching about infect. It takes a lot of setup for Ashling to win with Exoskeleton, more so than most of the popular infinite combos. The truth of the matter, and I'm sure it applies to you as well, is that I hardly ever win with Exoskeleton. It usually ends up being bait for something better. It's a boogie man because "muh infect", and you're playing mono red. Fuck their feelings. If monored is the "that guy deck" in your group, then they deserve to be ruled by it.

If DSP and MBA are more meta calls than for protection, then go for it. They've usually backfired on me before by not leaving enough mana to pop, or by being unable to remove her from the table. It's the same reason I dialed back on certain equips like Sword of Kaldra. It's fantastic, but the cost is prohibitive when Collar does the same thing 95% of the time. The biggest exception to the protection rule would be a Sword of Fire and Ice if I had one because of the card draw.

Anyway, I switched over to Chandra between Origins and BFZ. It might be time to switch back for fun.

>victor has Brago out and has nevermore shutting krenko out

normally I would but I have too many no fun/power decks. no one really likes playing against half the decks I own, I built brago thinking that it would be low powered I mean I run a seller of songbirds as one of my blink targets and even that deck is starting to annoy people. Is there a fun commander in junk colors? Something that is good but gimicky and fun to play with and against.

>Commander that synergieses extremely well with with many different strong cards
Skullclamp is probably her strongest synergy, and anything that craps out 1/1s works almost as well
>Lets you play living weapons for free and fish your equipment back onto the battlefield.
Recursion is good if stuff happens to get destroyed, but Sun Titan pulls back most of the equipment worth running and is stronger in other areas. The only living weapon that's good in this format is Lashwrithe.

>Can help you go tall and wide very efficiently and protects herself more readily with a +2
5 for a 1/1 every turn is horribly inefficient.

>Only argument I could see is that you cant win by doing commander damage.
Which is the only realistic way for an equipment themed deck to win. Combo will go off while you're durfing around making 1/1 kor, goodstuff will destroy your tokens and/or equipment then snap back with blightsteel or craterhoof, Voltron will one shot you and ignore all the useless life you gained from Loxodon Warhammer or whatever.

Nahiri decks can only beat precons or comparably low powered decks; any random intermediate table will stuff it and at best it can play king maker.

What's not to get? The whole flavor of polymorphism is that the original target literally changes into another being, essentially. Destroying the target just gives access to bringing it back, which undermines the whole point. Exiling something was never an effect that *needs* a drawback.

I think being allowed to exile tokens might just be a power level thing. Being able to exile tokens might just be a power level thing. I know that Creative is making the push towards spells effecting creatures should effect tokens as well because flavory there is no difference.

>>43922626
That card seems cool, but I don't see much use in it. Coincidentally, Blue is my least favorite color, but Polymorphism is so fun.

>>
>>43922713
You are operating under the pretense that the only way to build a strong commander deck is to have your commander as the wincon, plenty of commanders support other cards in the deck or win with synergy. I still fail to see how a commander that can make kor soliders (which is important as soliders have a great deal of tribal support), play equipment for free/resurect equipment (which can get around counter spells and things like you cant even eldrazi), and then can put out a 5/5 double strike indistructible sword (that isnt legandary so it can be coppied) that equips for freeif yiur opponents leave her unchecked could be concidered bad. I understand she isnt perfect, but what commander doesnt have flaws?
>>
>>43922819
>Destroying the target just gives access to bringing it back, which undermines the whole point.
You heard it here folks. Kill spells aren't good enough for blue. Its not like destroy effects aren't what 3/5 of the color pie rely on most of the time with greater costs and drawbacks, no simply "killing" a creature just isn't powerful enough for blue mages.
Fuck that. That other anon was right. By your logic all removal should exile.

Actually, I'm on the same boat you are. I'm only recently getting back into EDH, and even when I was into it, it wasn't so much.

>>43922895
I think you missed my point. With Polymorphism, it's important to exile so that it flavory makes sense and doesn't make it as powerful. Sending something to the graveyard is typical and is set so that it *can* be brought back.
>>
>>43923053
It's more of a flavor thing.
>>
>>43923084
Polymorphism can usually be reversed. Going by flavor, all Pongifies should be auras that change base power so that they can be reverted.
>>
>>43922968
>You are operating under the pretense that the only way to build a strong commander deck is to have your commander as the wincon
In the case of equipment you do. Starting life is doubled, board wipes are everywhere, and most games end with an infinite combo or an attack step that deals hundreds of damage.

>play equipment for free/resurect equipment (which can get around counter spells and things like you cant even eldrazi), and then can put out a 5/5 double strike indistructible sword (that isnt legandary so it can be coppied) that equips for free
You're living in Magical Christmas Land. Making the sword requires your five mana planeswalker to be left alone for five turn cycles, seven if you cheat out another equipment first, which only the most terrible of terrible tables will allow. Most games don't even last long enough for you to drop a low impact, 5 mana walker and durdle around with it that long. The games you win by sticking equipment onto 1/1s you will win no matter what your deck is.

I've played with her. She's terrible. Don't rate cards based on Commander Vs videos.

Why doesn't polymorph work like this?

Curse of the Swine
XUU - Instant
X target creatures lose all abilities and become a 2/2 green boar.

Polymorph
3U - Sorcery
Target creature's controller reveals cards from the top of his library until he reveals a creature card. That creature becomes a copy of the revealed creature, then that player shuffles the revealed cards into his library.
>>
>>43923582
Why even bother with that. Just have the blue spell wear off when the creature dies. If it works for aura spell flavor, it should work for this.
Polymorph spells should be auras anyways if you ask me. It's a permanent change to a creature and should be reflected in the cards.

GHAVE ALL THE WAY. NEVER TURN BACK FROM THE GURU
>>
>>43923582
>Pognify an elf

>Necromancer brings back elf gibblets
Makes no sense. Polymorphism doesn't kill the subject, just changes what that subject is. Mechanically, exiling it signifying that it isn't dead, but rather changed into whatever it is now.
>>
>>43923679
Except auras represent the change better than exiling does. All exile does is make it feel like a swords to plowshares.

Making the effect done through aura probably does make the effect more consistent, but I'd argue that it what it gets flavorly, it loses is gameplay as the effect no longer as clean. However, that's just a baseless assumption, so I can't argue. If you're implying that SoP is a mistake, you're right. White isn't allowed creature removal at that power level. It undermines having Black as the best at killing.

Actually black is the one most out of it's pie because it's pie is sopposed to be "Anything at a price".
Now it's "Second best at draw, second best at removal, second best at creature size, second best at creature utility, discard is unfun, land destruction is unfun, aslo everything hurts you because lol everything at a price ;^)".
They take every step to keep black down because it's the color closest to beating blue for dominance and whenever it gets good cards it shows. RTR-THS has the best Wrath and best card draw effects ever and still Mono Black Devotion was dominating that shit to the point UW control had to splash black to compete using Thoughtseize.

Black can counter spells, and it's not "destroying" artifacts/enchantments so it's within the color pie.

Exile is the most powerful form of removal, it's White primarily and they get steep drawbacks on agressively costed exile spells.

Woodfall Primus + Mazirek + Sac outlet is infinite non creature removal. Actually, anything with persist and Mazirek + Sac outlet is infinite. Have you considered Mikhaeus, the Unhallowed? Pretty good with anything with a persist ability. Phyrexian Altar is a monster and can produce infinite mana. Ashnod's altar isn't amazing, but infinite colorless isn't something to laugh at. You could throw in tutors for consistency. Make an on-death token producer work. Golgari Germination comes to mind. Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos is insane for creature removal. Imagine it. Turn 5. You have Gpact out. Primus. Phyrexian Altar. Mazirek (consider using as general, please, he's bonkers). You just annihilated literally everything in the game. Throw in on-death draw effects for bonkers draw. Smothering abomination is good. Consider Harvester of Souls, Dark Prophecy (this is deadly), Fecundity. So many good things.

not really looked at going infinite, i kinda was a huge target in my playgroup because of a damia deck. mikey was in it for a while, along with peregrine and other things. tutors ive avoided for the reason we all agreed that they were too linear. birthing pod and my friends sissay deck are exceptions to the rule. i have dictate, harvester, and smothering in the deck already.

fecundity was in it but i cut it as it gave oponnents card advantage as well. dark prophecy is a nice one but i thought abomination would work better, and is cheaper on the black. gpact was opted out for dictate, in the early stages. lgs dont have the altars nor primus, but i considered ashnods for a while. spawning pit was available and filled that roll. mazirek ive not considered, might have to make a mimeo with him in it possibly. ill go over some tests to see if i can add more intesnsive spells though for gpact and necropotence though
