I mean, are bitrate and resolution the only things I should check or there's more?

As you see in >>772470 vs. >>772472, neither resolution nor bitrate are a useful metric

You can upscale a shitty blurred version to any arbitrary resolution for no gain in quality, and you can blow up the bitrate to encode invisible noise, again for no gain in quality. Generally large files just means the encoder was being an idiot. (Coalgirls, I'm looking at you.)

The only useful metric is if it looks good, and for that you'll have to watch it to compare.

Which is why I downloaded the first episode of both Monster encodes, before settling on the smaller res one which had the best quality. And then cutting the bitrate to 30% at no noticable loss of quality, so it's 8GB instead of 27GB. That's a more reasonable size for this resolution.

Usually download an episode and check for yourself. Afterwards, it's a matter of trust. Some uploaders really are consistent with their uploads (I usually watch super robot-style shows and EG or OZC are a god-sent).

generally japanese BD rips are fine if usually a bit excessive on the bitrate

Best akira version? I've downloaded the 25th anniversary edition but the noise is too much. I've find another version that is de-noised but the quality is just way off. Does anyone have a good version?

There is a remastered version out there, but it is 480p. I was under the impression that the blu-ray releases would at least look a little better.

Well the x265 re-encode is ok in video but I'm bummed out since it only grabbed the English audio track only and non-styled subs.

I know about lossy-to-lossy, I'd appreciate some feedback and maybe if it's good, I (or you) can shave off half the size, I've got the CPU cycles to spare.

Hello /t/, may I ask if anyone has a decent Dual Audio version of the series Azumanga Daioh?
All the links on the Nyaas and the like are very dead or of very poor quality. There's not even a quality Jap audio/Eng-subs option.
One that does have seeder has bad audio channels (plays English one one side only) and the Subs are distractedly ugly. Another issue is that, since they are old uploads I guess, turning off Eng-subs removes important non-speech texts; signs and the like.

Alternatively, some Eng-subs that are accurate and timed to Moozzi2's amazing upscale would also be good.
Though I would prefer the Dual Audio as I 1st watched the series dubbed, and don't want to lose the option.
