Who's got it dl'd pleaaase
>>
Finally managed to download it from archive.org. Checksums match, YAY! I don't torrent, so no seed from me, sorry.

It's an uncompressed tar, 7zip handles it fine on Windooze. Already lots of zips and rars inside, so the total amount of data may be beyond hope. Still lots of html and txt flying by in the unpack file list, so there may still be potential to save further GBs.

However, two things stood out. First is, there is a complete Android development folder inside, which takes 14.6GB alone. Seems to include video tutorials (worst info to data ratio). If this was necessary is questionable, a single 100GB file is uncomfortable enough to handle without such blow-ups.

Second, there is a Literature folder. It's not too large, but is Frank Herbert really part of everything you NEED to know, i.e. read? It can only be a very small selection, thus the value in such a collection is also questionable.

Still, nearly 6,000 folders with nearly 60,000 files to explore and sort a bit...
>>
Now reseeding this >>753040 version of the 100GB torrent.
>>
torrent won't fucking load. what the fuck
>>
I have the original torrent dl'd in full. I haven't been in a location where I could seed anything for a while, but I can now.

I'll be seeding it as much as I can. Certainly should be up at least most nights Eastern Time

Is the "computers" folder just a copy of the /g/entoomen library?
>>
how common are these knowledge collections in the torrent community? was 10 years ago much better?
>>
>>754062
There seems to be a lot in common. I haven't looked through thoroughly though, and they are different sizes - /g/entoomen library is 33GB and computers folder in here is 26GB.

There's both overlap and differences and I don't have time now to investigate it. Sorry.

>>754082
I am reasonably sure that these are much more popular now for a few reasons:
-Storage is far cheaper. The collections haven't gotten smaller really, but 50GB or even 1TB of data is entirely feasible to devote to private storage.
-eBooks are popular, which has driven demand for more numerous and higher quality electronic documents.
>>
>>753549
>I don't torrent, so no seed from me, sorry
>is Frank Herbert really part of everything you NEED to know, i.e. read?

Is it possible to be this much of a piece of shit?
>>
>>754146
a leech. doesn't want to share with his neighbor, just wants something for free.
>>
>>754146
The Frank Herbert thing is what nearly got me to respond. I mean I'm fairly used to leeches in the torrent world but that shit, god damn. That shit is just insulting.
>>
Insulting and leeching piece of shit here again. Call me names all you like, but my mental skin is now made of steel, after decades of discussions in BBSs and on the net.

It was just meant as a comment, well... maybe it is a better idea to keep any possibly helpful comments to myself.

Please don't misunderstand me, Herbert was just a single example that I spotted in the unpack file list. Nothing against him, I like his books. What I meant: There are terabyte over terabyte of fictional literature out there. Does it make sense to put such a small and personal collection into a collection of KNOWLEDGE like this? If I want to research a specific topic, most likely I won't scan through fiction. There is another thread with a gigantic scifi collection, most likely his stuff is already contained there.

And the share thing. Well, bring me an empty harddisk, and you will get it back filled to the last GB, no problem with this. But torrenting is a two-edged sword where I live. You can usually get away with downloads, but you can get in serious legal trouble for uploads.
>>
your assuming someone methodically went through this and created some organized well-thought out list blah blah, and not just made a torrent file and posted it which is probably all that happened.

if you want curated, lets see Mortimer Adler 52 Volume Great Books of The Western World, St. Johns College 4 year program, Harvard Classics Anthology.

There are departments around the world who spend with salaried faculty deciding shit like this called a syllabus.

>>
Thanks, great post
>>
that collection seems quite stupid. the info library, /fit/ library, homesteading library, and maybe a collection of literature is going to be more useful than bullshit on developing for android and especially rpg books
>>
>>757089
Unless of course you're an amateur android dev looking for somewhere to start. Or an RPG enthusiast looking for classic table top games/rules.

If you find parts of the collection uninteresting or useless then don't download them or delete them. But claiming the entire torrent is stupid and not worth anybodies time because it doesn't meet your arbitrary standards is, well, stupid.
>>
>>757139
if you're either of those things, you can download torrents that are related to those things

the whole point of an info repo is that it can provide a huge amount of info with a relatively small amount of space. 15gb of useless android dev videos and 10-20gb of rpg books is useless to pretty much everyone

the info, fit, and homesteading repos are useful because they can be used by everyone, especially if there's some sort of disaster

claiming that it's smart to include things that almost nobody will ever need is, well, stupid
>>
>>757159
Unless the point of your collection is not self preservation but the preservation of information. Because even if 99% of people will never use rpg manuals 1% will. And if this torrent gives them better access to that info it serves a purpose.

Again thinking your reasons are the only possible reasons is senseless.
>>
>>757203
if your goal is preservation then you're going to need a lot more than 100gb. your justifications are stupid. if that's actually your goal, why is there 15gb of android shit instead of info on the languages that the android shit is written in?
>>
It seems to be a personal collection of stuff, roughly sorted. Calling it "Everything you need to know EVER" is a bit of hubris, or simply a sign that the collector doesn't have a sense for large numbers.

But face it, small, large or whatever: Once you've collected such numbers of stuff, there's no chance you will ever take the time to review it, and to really evaluate it and sort things out. If you have 10,000 books, and manage to review and sort only 100 per day, you will need 100 days, 1/3 of a year!

How much files are in this collection, 60,000? You're facing 2 years of boooooring review. Whatever is in such a collection, it will stay there forever. Building a universal library can't be done by a single collector, it requires extensive community effort, where everybody only works in the parts he knows best.

Even then, there will never be really consent about what needs to be inside, and what can be thrown out.
>>
I need "nome in codice Ulisse" by Fulvio Martini.
Does someone have it?
>>
>>757249
You dont know about calibre
>>
>>761939
It will read all the ebooks, pdfs, image files, websites, videos, etc in such a collection and evaluate
- if it is current stuff, or only of historical value about things that belong in a museum,
- if it is interesting for a potentially large number of people, or only for 5 specialists worldwide, who would use their own better resources, not such a collection,
- if all the information is accurate, and not full of errors and misinformation (there are computer book authors whose books you better bury back in the garden, together with the author)

Just wanted to add to know what you're getting in this torrent. While there are some good files(books, *some* videos) there are a bunch of pictures that I don't get. Like I'm pretty sure this entire torrent was compiled by a leftist fuck. Normally I wouldn't care, but there is so much shit littered throughout that it makes me wonder why some of these pictures are even in here.

>pic related
>supposed to help build your charisma and talk to people

I think this is worth downloading, but it should be cut down and useless, propoganda pictures should be taken out. It's sad that all of these great recourses have to be mixed with liberal propoganda.
>>
>>767900
From your pic one can tell what you say is already propaganda for not downloading the torrent, what kind of political ideology do you have for doing that?
>>
>>767937
I did say it was worth downloading. Read the last two sentences. All I was saying is that, for downloading over 100 GB, I shouldn't get the pic I posted as part of "The All Embracing Library" It's not really contributing to information or learning. But, from what I can tell, there are hundreds of books and other sources of info that are worth getting.
>>
>>767900
Wait until you get in the "political" folder, it's fucking cancer.

Help me out /t/,

I love the sound of these files but I live in an area with fucking shit internet, so downloading files that are like 100gb+ is just out of the question for me since it'll take days if direct downloading and literally weeks if torrenting.

I was basically just looking for a condensed version of what has already been posted - I'm mainly looking for information on programming, starting and running a business and fitness - do not give a fuck about the occult, ghosts, conspiracies, weapons, survival manuals etc.

If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be really appreciated.

>>768516
Not trying to generate a conflict here, trust me, but this started with you posting a picture one can think has nothing to do with politics but more to do with you having a bias against niggers. Not everyone here hates on black people anon.

I do understand where you might be confused but if you see with attention, specially on the classic works, you can see works of conservative thought along with what you say, and even anarchism, philosophy of politics, etc. Of course many works a common individual wouldn't know what they are about, but they are there and you can easily miss them if you don't do a little digging.

I invite you to leave any preconceptions behind for a moment and you will enjoy this big collection that has value in every bit.

I'm a different guy, not the dude who posted that image. If you go into the politics folder you will see a bunch of images supporting communism. I don't even mind different point of views, I don't mind books on Communism or Anarchists. I literally only went to the politics folder in search for Economic books then I got bombarded with a bunch of lefty shit.

This is my political folder now, I can't post the pictures I'm referring to because I deleted all the BS.

The political folder is most definitely full of political avocation for groups. It doesn't matter if it's socialism, libertarian-ism, or any other isms of your choice. What it matters is that it's creating an agenda, and it vouches against the actual validity of these documents.
Why would you even bother reading documents that are created to pursue a political agenda, you *know* their only creation purpose is to manipulate you.
