Make this into a torrent, and I'll put it on a seedbox for others.

Yes do that! I'll seed too if you torrent it.

Okay, so uncompressed this archive is a 2.01 GB text file. It'll probably crash standard text file viewers such as Notepad. A utility has been made for Windows called LTFViewr that can open the archive without crashing, and I've uploaded it here:

The archive from mega link >>732054 has been re-compressed.
Initial seeding will be painfully slow until roughly 3-4 hours after this post and everything is on the seedbox.

i'm pretty ignorant when it comes to these things, what do you do with these set of numbers and letters?
>B3EE0BEE06C82C6DADA2E3593BF0F30A00C9FBDFD231F3AFF7622C2FA00AD81B
>>732132
I'll try my best to explain...
Those sets of numbers and letters are what's called a "hash". Hashes are the output created by inputting data into a hashing algorithm. If you ever have downloaded a file from a public hoster, you have most likely seen the terms MD5, SHA1 or SHA256. These are commonly used hashing algorithms. The basic idea of hashing is to analyze any input of data and generate a small sequence of characters that describe only a single file. Just a small change to the data input will entirely modify the hash.
So why is this important? You can take the files you've downloaded as the input for the hashing algorithms of your choice. Generate the hashes and compare them to the ones provided - if they differ, your file is modified and probably not the file you want. Essentially they're a way of verifying you've received the correct file, and that it hasn't been tampered with. Try reading the Wikipedia article here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptographic_hash_function . For Windows I'd recommend using either https://sourceforge.net/projects/quickhash/ , or for a more integrated experience, http://implbits.com/products/hashtab/. Hope this helps!
Is the 7z full of files I can search by name, or will it be a surprise every time I download something?
>>732155
it's just a single text file with magnet links
>>732155
See pic related. It's just a giant text file in the format:
Hash | torrent name | original link
Both KAT and Torcache no longer exist, so all the links are broken. You can search for stuff manually and import the associated hash directly into your torrent client.
>>732166
Whoops, the format is actually:
Hash | torrent name | category | original link
>>732160
What the fuck man
With Kickass and torrentz gone.. where do you go?
>>732196
There might be a bay where the pirates lay
>>732167
after the original link and torcache torrent file, there are some additional numbers like
>|2501446269|89|1|3|1|1467760735|1
do you know what these mean?
>>732216
No clue honestly. It's probably some combination of the number of comments on the torrent, its age, size, amount of seeds and leeches, how many files it has, etc. captured statically from whenever the index was scraped.
>>732216
THE NUMBERS MASON, WHAT DO THEY MEAN?

The bar at the top is for jumping to a certain line number. Click the binoculars button to search for specific strings / words.
for anyone on linux
this will display a list of items only containing the keyword
> less KAT-dailydump-2016-7-13.txt | grep KEYWORD
there is probably a better way of doing it but to search multiple keywords I pipe the output of grep into another grep
> less KAT-dailydump-2016-7-13.txt | grep KEYWORD | grep KEYWORD2
Resident Evil REmake infohash doesn't seem to work.
>>732785
Wrong thread?
>>732789
No he's spamming a bunch of threads on 4chan in hope of getting a few views. Its a type of low-key advertising. My suggestion is ignore it or better yet report it.
This might sound stupid but how do I use this info?
>>732815
the sticky has info on magnet links, non?
>>732783
well it's pretty likely that most of these torrents will have no seeders by now, unless they're also on some other trackers
>>732783
Still seeding anon.
>>732866
True. You can try to solve this problem by adding more trackers to the torrent and hoping there might be seeders left on the less popular trackers.
https://github.com/ngosang/trackerslist#trackerslist
>>732873
Well that will only help with clients that don't support the DHT, which all clients that support magnet links require for magnet link support anyway. So you won't catch a lot of new fish by adding random trackers, and probably no seeds at all.
>>732883
>Well that will only help with clients that don't support the DHT
Not necessarily. Using trackers is far better than relying solely on DHT imho. If you startup a torrent with no trackers, then you'll either spend forever waiting for peers to connect you to seeds, or just get stuck downloading metadata forever. Add even a single tracker, and you can instantly make an announcement and get connected to a whole swarm.
>all clients that support magnet links require [DHT] for magnet link support anyway.
I'm sure you know that the &tr=udp%3a%2f%2fxxx.xxx.xxx%3a6969%2fannounce portions in a magnet link are embedded trackers, right? The magnet URI scheme allows for trackers to be embedded so you don't have to use DHT for finding peers. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnet_URI_scheme#Address_tracker_.28tr.29
>So you won't catch a lot of new fish by adding random trackers, and probably no seeds at all.
Found at least 20 peers and 1 seed by adding trackers to the REmake above. >>732867
>>732902
>If you startup a torrent with no trackers, then you'll either spend forever waiting for peers to connect you to seeds, or just get stuck downloading metadata forever.

Nope. Thanks for the kek though.
1 peer in 20 minutes? Why the fuck would you wait so long?

Kat can be accessed through http://archive.org/web/, just put an old link and you'll get something like this https://web.archive.org/web/20150624180316/http://kat.cr/pluralsight-cissp-physical-environmental-security-sweeti-t10028661.html

Is there a way to look up a torrent via it's hash? I know that torrentz.eu is down.
I'm currently using a web version of Deluge and I can only add torrents via the file or a magnet link.
What clients do support hash adding?

thanks, but when i do it, it just keeps loading and loading and loading for me
i did manage to find this :

so far, ive manged to successfully start downloads but im not sure if its safe. can anyone verify if its okay to use?
because ive also got a friend who knows even less about torrents than me and hes interested in the kat archive as well
>>737925
>hash
So you don't need a long list of trackers for magnet urls? This information helps immensely.
>>738019
If you have the hash or magnet+hash your client should download the trackers automatically. You can add your own of course, after the fact.
>>732391
I dropped the uncompressed text file in Firefox and it opened, took awhile though. The formatting is horrible though.
>>732777
>less KAT-dailydump-2016-7-13.txt | grep KEYWORD
holy fuck no. You should learn to use grep properly if you're going to be using the command line, start with the man page. Learn about regexes too while you're at it.
>there is probably a better way of doing it
yeah:
$ grep -E 'word1|word2' KAT-dailydump-2016-7-13.txt
Don't use less unless you're going to read it.
