In the defensive scheme of things, what is more important
A good pass Rush or Good secondary?
A good pass rush can make a bad secondary look good.
A good secondary can make up for qbs being able to stand in the pocket uncontested.

Pash rush. Give a good QB (IE Tom Brady) and let him sit in the pocket all day. He will pick you apart. Watch the AFC championship game against the Steelers last year they had no rush. No matter how good or bad the corners are wide receivers are going to find a way open. Man coverage is dying in this league in favor of zone because there aren't enough corners who can consistently shut down a WR1 in man

Pass Rush
any qb given enough time will beat you
A good secondary can shut down a good wide receiver.
A good pass rush can shut down a quarterback. Pass rush wins.
With the current rules, pass rush by a long shot. Not even the best secondary in history could stop an above average qb consistently

If you don't have a superior defensive line, it really depends more on the luck you have on play calling. If you can just 4 man rush and crash in within 3 seconds then it won't really matter who your secondary is, but if you have to rely on LBs to create pressure then you start to leave holes in your secondary and any good QB will find a target within the time it takes for the LBs to get there.

Pass Rush, reciever play has only gotten better, but Oline play has basically plateaued and almost seems to be regressing
