Why are refs so mollycoddled? >Managers can't criticize

Authorities must be respected.

Call into question a single ref's or reffing as whole's competence and it's calling into question the competence and legitimacy of the league itself. Leagues can't have that, the stations who pay a lot of money to air them can't have that, etc. so they try to shut down any discourse to that end before it starts.

Ref is the policeman, the judge, the appeal, the executioner and everything in between. Why? Efficiency. Can we put into question what ref chooses? No. If yes, the ref system collapses, and so the game. Do you want that? No, probably

one of the many reasons why baseball is the best sport, you can scream and curse at the refs even after you get ejected and you only get penalized for making physical contact.
