The thing is this has been pretty obvious for several months. It's not news. That's the whole reason the Paul George trade didn't happen, it's the whole reason that David Griffin got fired, it's the whole reason that Kyrie asked for a trade in the first place. LeBron and Dan Gilbert don't trust or like each other. Lebron doesn't want to stay unless Gilbert commits to the future, Gilbert doesn't want to commit to the future unless he knows that Lebron is staying. Nothing about any of this is going to change at all. And they also know that they don't have a realistic shot at beating the Warriors this year with the team as presently comprised.

Lebron is definitely leaving. If they trade Kyrie, it's going to be for young players and future assets. They're probably not going to trade Kyrie. I do agree that Danny Green would help them a lot against the Warriors and if they could pick him up for free that would help them a lot. But he doesn't come close to helping them enough to make up for Kyrie's absence.

Second, LMA doesn't improve their roster over Kevin Love even if he's better against the Warriors (and I'm not sure he's all that much better against the Warriors). I guess if your plan is to deal KLove and Thompson and go to war with LaMarcus Aldridge at center, that could make sense. But the problem I have with that is that if the Cavs could get a satisfactory return for Love, they would already have done so. If they want to move Love for a player who would help them against the Warriors they could just... do that without trading for LMA. And then trade Kyrie for a player who also helps against the Warriors more than LMA does. Or just.... keep Kyrie.

LMA is just a really weird player for the Cavs to target and the benefit of getting Danny Green doesn't come close to making up for it.
