Being a decent backup QB isn't really about being as good as a starter. It just means not hurting the team, and back then Mallett was kinda like that.
5 picks at practice, tho. Fucking kek.
>>77348104
HOW DARE YOU.
NFL isn't cancer, it's CTE, get your facts straight.
>>77348248
>throwing a pick in practice
I don't care if you're 30 and made $50 million last year, you do that shit that should be fifty push-ups on the spot.
>>77348150
Toxins fan, here. Can confirm. Mallett is an ungrateful, lazy, unmotivated, overrated hick. Dude couldn't make the team plane to Miami on a fucking Saturday morning because of """""traffic""""" (of which there isn't much on a Saturday morning). He had to be scolded in training camp because he overslept due to a dead, uncharged phone (as seen in Hard Knocks).
Mallett can only throw at one speed: as hard as he fucking can. He has no touch and poor accuracy. After he left Houston for the Baltimore, he tried to throw shade at the Texans QB room for being too competitive or some shit. Basically he's a fucking pussy.
>>77348248
He was not horrible for 1 (one) game, hell, Matt Barkley managed to look semi serviceable for longer before throwing a gazillion picks and crashing back to Earth.
>>77348248
>5 picks at practice
Thought you were talking about Gawoppolo lel
>>77348176
>Clausen
Don't know much about him, so whatevs.
>Schaub
He died in 2013. Schaub never had much of an arm to begin with. To throw it deep, he needed the run to set up the bootleg so he could roll out to buy time to wind up. He also tended to throw behind receivers, especially on crossing routes over the middle, which forced them to slow down or stop to try and catch the ball, resulting in either an incompletion or the receiver getting smashed after somehow catching it. This happened frequently with Andre Johnson.
You guys think Big Ben is gonna retire soon?
Redskins/chefs broship when?
>>77348364

Clausen threw like 3 TDs and 13 picks or something like that in his only year starting at Carolina and back in 2015 he hadn't thrown a single 200 yard game (don't know if the streak stands). He's probably the worst QB to start multiple games this decade.
>>77348364

Good idea.
Now that we're on it, who have been great backups?
Recently, all I can think of is Hasselbeck (who was a starter for many years), Charlie Batch (GOAT backup imo) and maybe Jason Campbell (who also kinda was starter material for a few years).

Jeff Hostetler, Frank Reich, Earl Morall, and Gus Frerotte are guys who come to mind. I think all 4 had full seasons where they were the starter, but also spent a lot of time as backups and did well when called upon for a game or two.
Backup QB is a fun position to talk about because there are so many schools of thought on what makes a good backup. Is it Aaron Rodgers, the clear starter-in-waiting? Or is it Gary Kubiak, who can function as an assistant coach but isn't expected to ever have to play? Something in between?

Replacing old man Free who was easily the weak link on the line, almost surely the biggest upgrade from last year
Also TEs James Hanna and Geoff Swaim are healthy again after missing most of last year, both excellent run blockers so look for the Cowboys to do a bunch of running plays with 2 TE sets which they couldn't do last year.
>>77359900
It's amazing how young the Cowboys O-line still is. It's been dominant for 3 years now, and the pro-bowl trio are all just 26. They haven't even hit the average age that an O-lineman is in their prime yet.

That's more like the very upper end of age in which any QB has ever managed to stay productive. Most QBs hit their cliff before that.
Brady is in no man's land right now. He's been extraordinary healthy throughout his career and takes great care of his body which helps him, but he's got about 1 year left before you're probably better off betting against him maintaining his current level of production than for it.
>>77361091
The NFL is doing the opposite of looking the other way on domestic violence with Zeke and trying to look tough by suspending a guy who is in all likelihood innocent.
I know Zeke certainly isn't helping his case with all the dumb offseason stuff, but you read the details of the DV accusation, there hasn't been a shred of evidence that he did anything. The cops didn't observe any visual evidence of injury to the victim, not a single witness has corroborated her story, and there are supposedly texts from the her saying that she wanted to frame Zeke. She also chose to not press charges until after he came to the NFL and got a payday, which is obviously fishy.
The guy investigating this case on behalf of the NFL is also apparently a self-proclaimed Giants fan which is ridiculous.

No contending team is gonna risk bringing in such a huge media distraction in the locker room just to have a decent option at backup QB which eliminates 2 of the best fits for him, Seattle and Dallas. Seahawks fans would by and large support Kaep's protest, but not at the cost of inviting even more media distractions to an already very distracted and polarized locker room, and Jerry Jones has never shied away from to taking on controversial players if production comes with it, but a backup QB isn't worth it.
>>77357952
They tried an onside kick because they failed the two point conversion you dunce. There was plenty of time to get the ball back
>>77362084
I'm skeptical of the reports of Kaep asking for starter money. Him and his agent would only do if they were intentionally trying to not get signed. It's completely obvious nobody would ever give him that kind of money when he's current situation is comparable to Tebow and Vick when they needed to simply find a team that is willing to even take a chance on them for penny wages.
Backup QB is the absolute least desirable position to have a player that attracts media attention. Even if they're actually very good like Romo behind Dak last year, its a huge headache to deal with.
>>77360996
He's not good enough to justify the money and media circus that comes with signing him

Never played football again and if you didn't read up on this stuff you wouldn't even notice.

they have the 12th-ranked strength of schedule, so upper-middle of the pack. pic related, their schedule
The NFC opponents are a joke, and the only really lose-able games are @Oakland and @Denver.
They never sweep the division and always lose at least one other game they should win, so it's pretty remote.
12-4 seems to be the default worst-case scenario in recent years, and 15-1 is possible. I don't think it'll be another 16-0 season though. I feel comfortable pegging them at 13-3.

Can a Trump voter explain this to me
Why did people get so upset over Kaepernick kneeling during the anthem which showed disrespect for the country?
According to Trump, America is a huge sewer, a cesspool of crime, filth and failure that was one of the worst countries on Earth and needed to be made great again

it's the nature of our media today, Moss didn't have to deal with many of our BS "social media" and "sports journalism" outlets during his better years.

As you post on a SPORTS forum and struggle to think of a creative Muslim please tell me you're not so ignorant that you don't realize Western countries have killed literally millions of Muslims who were no threat to you in your lifetime and in fact the U.S. is taking part of an illegal invasion of Syria right now to battle the "rebels" they have been arming for the better part of a decade.
Because you have to TRY to be the fucking stupid.
>>77372533
>literally millions
>illegal invasion
>actions done by an impervious government justifies the countless terrorist attacks and general criminality of muslims, arabs, and blacks throughout the entire world

I agree. Im just saying all arab culture is despicable. produces nothing of merit. islam as a whole deserves nothing but merciless ridicule. the entire islamic world is endemically corrupt with no hope of salvation. it has no redeeming values. they are incapable of putting themselves in someone elses shoes. sympathetic reasoning is beyond them.
I totally agree about Syria my nigga. I pray Assad wipes out those gulf state cats paws foreign jihadis. and I agree its totally a state department (Israel) creation.
>Because you have to TRY to be the fucking stupid.
youre the one here arguing like a fucking woman. IM JUST SO OUTRAGED BY UNCONNECTED THREADS OF CONVERSATION. ILL JUST MAKE TONS OF ACCUSATIONS AND INCORRECTLY POINT OUT THINGS AS ACCOUNTABLE WITH NO ACTUAL BASIS AND IF I BULLSHIT ENOUGH HE WILL LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!
>>77372780
>all arab culture is despicable.
Every culture is garbage. I largely adhere to my own culture due to laziness - a major trait of my culture.
>produces nothing of merit.
A Muslim invented scientific method. Again, my own culture is garbage. Have you seen the Independence Day films? Who were these films made for? What level of fucking retard was entertained by this? Turn on your TV right now - what do you see? Absolute fucking garbage. Non-stop fucking garbage made by morally bankrupt retards for brain-dead retards (yes, retards who have suffered sever head trauma leaving them even more retarded).
>Islam as a whole deserves nothing but merciless ridicule.
I have no religion but since I've been shown proof there is something out there bigger than ourselves I admire the strength of their faith. No less deserving of ridicule than America, whose level of religious fundamentalism is on par with Iran's.
>the entire islamic world is endemically corrupt with no hope of salvation.
This doesn't apply to the West? Who's in the White House? Who did he run against?
>it has no redeeming values.
As though white supremacy and greed are redeeming values.
>they are incapable of putting themselves in someone elses shoes.
Hating on a people you just admitted you're aware your nation is committing genocide against them. #Quality
>sympathetic reasoning is beyond them.
I'd like to take a look at your data that justifies such a moronic generalization, but am assuming it's just grubby bigotry for bigotry's sake.

This is the weirdest goddamn thing to come out of the Trump era.

Person B: So?
.... How the fuck do you respond to that, other than advocate white genocide.
p.s. not everyone who disagrees with you is non-white. you're just an idiot.
