A big part of the problem is there aren't a lot of smart GM's or head coaches in the NFL right now and all the front offices want to see results immediately or they hit the reset button. Because the Pats are so good the Jets, Dolphins and Bills have become a revolving door of coaches, GMs and QBs because their owners don't give any of those factors enough time to develop. 2016 is omitted from that chart. AFC East had 10 - COUNT EM TEN - more wins than AFC North last season. So it's not a 4 game lead for most wins by a division since realignment, but 14.

The Bills insist they are in rebuilding mode as the new HC starts cycling out the players brought in by Rex Ryan, they end up going 4-12.
The Jorts continue their rebuild and their defense takes a step back, giving them the worst record in the NFL at 2-14.
