Any ball players who can give me some tips on shooting better? I want to become a better midrange and 3 point shooter and Im still trying to figure out how i should shoot and then practice that. So I naturally like to shoot with my leg, shoulder and elbow facing basket kind of sideways like Bird or steph does. I also have found that my shots are most consistent long range when i don't use my arm strength. I find that i get the best arc and accuracy when I literally just use my legs for the shot and extend my arm high. I get a good rainbow shot and thats what works the best for me.
However, it is really hard to control in mid range since it's from different distances constantly so I kind of use a behind the head little hop shot to put those in but i know that practicing two kinds of shots isn't going to work, i need to shoot the same way everytime.
Will i get somewhere if i keep forcing it and practicing or do I need to change things?
Almost all of my shots miss short, like hitting the front of the basket or behind it rarely from 3 point. or it soars over when i do 15 ft or so. Whenver i miss left or right i feel it before it goes in so I know that isn't a fault with my normal shot.
Also I notice that when I shoot I kind of lose track of the ball, I basically dont look at the ball and shoot it high and it just falls in, Im going on complete feeling and rhythm instead of actually aiming, but Im not sure how to aim more and keep the high arc
Any advice?
Yea tons of advice here but I'm a 2 lazy 2 type out all of it here. There's a wealth of info on the internet/youtube- Do your HW.
Nothing beats practice. A pure shooter practices everyday. Play pick up games and afterwards ask someone who has a wicked J for some pointers. Once you've mastered your shot people are going to press up on you and won't give you space to operate, this is were speed kills. You just take em to the basket and embrace them.
