So here's a question for you guys that I would have taken to /asp/ if they all weren't currently busy talking about pro wrestling...

Setting aside all grappling based martial arts (BJJ, even Sambo or Krav which involves grabbing and throwing around your opponent) is plain pugilism/boxing the most practical combat sport? Can a well trained boxer who masters dodging hits, punching hard, and strategically overwhelming his opponent...defeat someone trained in some other martial art that's predominant on striking, like Muay Thai for example?
