I also think it's because AIBA tries to present itself as more presentable and less brutal and they believe that women and children getting all cut up and swollen is bad for their image. Even with the new men's rules they stop the fight whenever blood is flowing in order to wipe it away. AIBA boxing, when televised, is usually in the afternoon on free TV, so I guess it has to be more family friendly and emphasise the sporting side rather than the entertainment side
