Mahrez is proven quality in le premiere of ships (even on a rainy night in stoke). I liked Lemar the couple of times I've seen him in the chimp league but Mahrez was the key reason for Leicester's title and that sort of quality doesn't just disappear.
I believe Barcelona where genuinely interested, only his weak last season is making him a possible Arse target and that only happened because he was ready to leave and proper offer didn't materialise, so he had to stay and was shitty about it.

Michu
>>

>>
>>76962134
Michu was basically a striker/poacher, iirc, a position that has a lot to do with luck and confidence, as well as the quality of the team serving and assisting you, so where you constantly have one season wonders.

Mahrez showed vision, touch, passing and crossing quality, none of which Michu ever impressed me with. He also managed to make Vardy look good, enough said really.
>>
>>76960638
Why is the 3-4-3 a meme? It's working for Arsenal right now, why revert back? I'm actually is kinda nervous if we revert back to 4-2-1-3, since our midfield and CBs can't defend for shit. Early last season, the team do look solid with Mustafi+Koscielny, but once Mustafi got exposed and either one of them injured, instant wrecked. Do you want Gabriel to play at a back 2? Oh, I know I won't.
>>
>>76962229

Are we really gonna live at a time where more than 5 of Arsenal starters will be decent to hunt a league down?
>>
>>76962648
Nah both Bellerin and Kolasinac are too good to be dropped for this 3-5-2 of yours.
My 4-2-3-1 seems the way any coach would go but can't be sure who the box to box will be alongside Xhaka. Elneny, Ramsey Coquelin , Czorla in my opinion dont cut it. If it were up to me Id sell all 4 and with their money in total buy one decent one. If there is one box to box I think would fit Arsenal in that position and would easily agree a move probably is Crystal Palace Milivojevic. The guy is practically a 3rd CB who plays in the midfield. You let Xhaka try to create balls for the up front elite (debateable) Laca, Ozil Sanchez and Mahrez, while this guy defends his a$$. He is a cheap Ngolo Kante in white colour.
>>
>>76962824
Yeah I would have included Kolas had I remembered. We played like shit until we switched to 3 at the back, to me it feels like playing 4231 is just as outdated as 442 now, I'm hesitant about playing like it. But I admit it's the best in terms of squeezing in all our best players
>>
>>76960964
For leadership maybe. It seems none of our players have redeeming leadership qualities. I also have been wondering are our players close to each other? Alexis and Ozil seems not particularly close to others.

What leadership qualities does he really have though? He was in the team that got twatted 6-0 by Chelsea, 6-3 by City, 5-1 by Liverpool etc. Also on the sidelines as we conceded 15 goals to Bayern in 3 back to back games.

Arsenal went 49 games unbeaten because if you underperformed you'd get a bollocking from Vieira. Adams would straight up tell them they weren't good enough for Arsenal. That's how leaders motivate players.
>>
>>76963016
Messi's natural position is cam, yet he plays RW or striker because it benefits the way his team plays more, I see your point tho m8

how can anybody possibly come to this conclusion. predominantly one footed, dribbles a lot and can instantly spot clear shots however congested the box is. coming in from the right does nothing but make those things harder

>>
>>76963538
He played box to box, that's the role you mentioned
>>
>>76963078
Yeah, in the first place it seems Mert got chosen as Captain solely because of his seniority, a father figure. He doesn't really say much except in tunneI I guess. Really dream about alpha leader figure who will call out everyone those underperformed in our team, sadly most of them move to other clubs because of ambition.

>>76963065
Are you really Nepalese, or proxyfag, or a tourist, or an expat there?

Is Lukaku going to United over Chelsea good or bad for Arsenal

It also means Chelsea will likely sign Belotti or Morata

I think this works out better for both Man United and Chelsea (if they sign either of those mentioned) but time will tell

I also think Lacazette was the best choice for Arsenal of the four strikers

Win for everybody? which is ultimately a bit of a loss for everybody too...if that makes sense
>>
>>76963299

Alexis has basically said he's out.

Ozil is not far behind.

>>76963428

> how can anybody possibly come to this conclusion. predominantly one footed, dribbles a lot and can instantly spot clear shots however congested the box is. coming in from the right does nothing but make those things harder

The guy literally played RW his entire life, he play Lw at the NT now because:

1) Our left side is the weakest one
2)we don't have a "9" so we'rew playing 4-3-1-2 formation now.

pd: Alexis is more an a playmaker that a full striker, you need to leave him free, he need FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT, RW --> LW , RW ---> ST, LW ---->ST, LW ---->RW, ST ---> CAM ----->LW----> RW.

His natural positions: 4-3-3 = RW with freedom
3- 4- 3 = same
4 - 4 - 2 = LW with freedom (left because no "9")
4 - 3 - 1 - 2 = Againt, no "9"

t. literally watched him play since his FIRST 1 division profesional game.
>>
>>76963611
I don't think it's any coincidence that the two best captains in recent years have both fallen out with Wenger. Even long after retirement their criticism shows their natural ambition.

There's absolutely nobody at the club like that today

>get into top 4 somehow gives Wenger rights to heaven and being divine manager
This is why AKBs are just Wenger's worshiper not the club's.

>>76963757
Who was the other one, Adams and? Why those alpha leaders like RVP opted to change clubs rather, did they feel hopeless to change the mentality of the squad?
>>
>>76963812
Vieira, seems to have cleared up a bit but a few years ago there was real hostility.

RvP and Fabregas have similarly been ostracised by Wenger. Both came as kids and grew into world class players, really strong and driven characters. Inevitable that they'd leave to win trophies after a decade of failure
>>
>>76963936
Were they just not good enough leader to change the mentality of the squad and Wenger's ways of doing things? Surely they knew better than anyone else what is wrong with the squad and what area that needs to be changed, have they tried to talk it to Wenger and staffs to change the trophyless before moving to other clubs? Or they have tried that but only fallen to deaf ears of Wenger, staffs and weak teammates and felt hopeless so they changed clubs? Really need interview from them of this, though it would be sensitive subject for many.
>>
>>76964018
Do you remember RvP's statement when he left? He said exactly that, he'd spoken to the manager and directors about where the club was going, why they weren't signing quality players and they just ignored him.

Ironically he might have stayed once he saw the likes of Cazorla come in. Fucking disgrace how the club handled his situation
>>
Actually gonna be really disappointed if Giroud leaves. Lacazette isnt really a threat to him, as much as he should be a threat to Walcott (and lesser extent) Perez.

Giroud in the squad means the ability to play a very different game, very useful when its a plucky relegation tier club, everybody sitting in their own third, hoping for a draw episode.
>>
>>76964343
Welbeck can take over holding the ball up duty even at RW whereas Giroud can't play wide at all. Lacazette is guaranteed CF as long as he isn't shit.

I'd like to think Wenger would force him to see out his contract but that won't happen.
>>
Still need go clear out deadwood and get a cm (Santi and Jack are always hurt and Ramsey is inconsistent). I would like to believe that Ramsey/Xhaka would work but Ramsey is too inconsistent.
>>
>>76963403
against your average team we rarely need more than one guy back and that's even only with 2 cbs not 3
against great teams maybe drop ozil for ramsey to add more graft
>>
>>76964506

Ramsey- Xhaka doesn't sound scary for the opposition at all, need someone really consistent next to Xhaka

Not selling Ramsey to someone for 50m after his one good season was a mistake
>>
>>76965706
Nobody ever actually made a bid for Ramsey. If Barcelona or PSG really wanted him they would have got him.

This is why I won't blames player who wanting to leave because of ambition. Everything's Wenger's faults.
How about Fabregas though? I guess he wanted to leave because of Barca's element and his origin. But why we don't accept Fabregas to join us and make him play alongside Ozil. Rather than skill and flair, leadership is more important recently. Why does it seem Fabregas + Ozil combo can't be done? Wilshire and Ramsey can fuck off and play for Bourne and Wales forever.

>>
>>76972765

>>
>>76972735
if it was something to do with how the entire academy worked, other teams would copy it like for like. Maybe Southampton and Monaco both have scouts with degrees in biology and know which genes to look for, that might indicate that player will have faster recovery times, or maybe they just run different tests with the players, looking at their eyesight, or spatial awareness, just vague things like that that make a difference. Money is clearly not indicative of success, Oxford's academy is 10x what City's is
>>
>>76972827
I remember reading that the early signs of >Martial being world class was him being able to dribble fast in straight line from a very young age

>>76972827
could be club culture or something equally abstract i guess. if they did those tests that could be copied too.
monaco gives more youth players more minutes, so if they let 10 play in the first team and 2 become good it could just be that there is a bigger sample size. the difference is that monaco constantly has GREAT young players which is weird

30% in my opinion

the fact wenger is going after all these pleyers early than he would is a strong indicator to me

i can't think of many reasons to be optimistic about him staying

i like mahrez' playing style better but he's literally ozil on the wing. plays some nice football but when the going gets tough or when he needs to dig in and fulfill his defensive responsibilities he turns off. we conceded a bunch of retarded goals last season because of ozil being a retard on the ball when we're defending by giving it straight back to the opponent or not making an interception when he easily could have.

lemar on the other hand has the workrate of sanchez and his defensive contributions were a big part of monaco's success last season. he's a well drilled team player. mahrez always used to get subbed off at the end of matches even in Leicesters winning season because he couldn't/wouldn't defend.
>>
>>76980230
@MrArsenicTM
>>
>>76980263
He has more flair than Ozil and a bigger goal threat, plus he's nice as fuck to watch play, that above all is the reason i want him

Lemar seems sort of boring imo, i'm sure he has good numbers but i just prefer Mahrez, just more fun to watch

Mahrez only played well in the CL, he didn't seem to care much about domestic as he had a hangover from winning the Premiership with fucking Leicester. Hope Wenger can negotiate a 40m deal as 50m is a bit too much for a flakey player who may or may not recapture his 15/16 form which was just as good as Alexis was in 16/17 if not better.

No, we don't, we need a ball-carrying midfielder with loads of stamina that makes loads of runs and can properly contribute to the build-up. Like what Ramsey has been doing, that role gives Xhaka much more room and it improved his form massively.
Only we need someone much better than Ramsey and less injury prone too. Like Leipzig's Keita.
>>
Would anyone ITT have preferred Lukaku to Lacazette?
>>
I just hope all the best chances we create falls to Lacazette, remember when most chances fell to Gervinho?

>>
>>76990600

>>
>>76990725
i don't think they're that different in speed
>>
>>76990642

Coquelin's short-comings were masked by the fact that he was playing next to a technical demi-God in Cazorla. He's been pretty mediocre when played next to anyone else and the midfield has badly suffered in those situations.
>>
>>76990600
no. Do you know how selfish that guy is? He wouldn't fit in. Besides I think he's way older than he says he is
>>
>>76990600
It's not that he's not good, it's just that he's a better version of Giroud and I've personally have had enough of watching that.
>>
>>76990600

I'd literally prefer Giroud over Lukaku within our style of play.

Lukaku's touch and interplay is often embarrassingly poor. His strength lies in being a powerful striker that can bully mid-table defences. In our system, he'd be an even more frustrating version of Giroud.
>>
>>76990828
lukaku is not like giroud
>>
>>76990836
He's improved a lot in that respect this season

>>76990845
He has more about him than Grioud and is a bit more mobile but he's a target man, let's be honest.
>>
>>76990642
Okay. However, we're not playing like that at the moment. Getting someone in like Wanyama would sabotage someone like Xhaka and cripple Arsenal going forward. Besides, someone like Keita has the stamina and the insight to be a ball-winner and actually be able to play football at the same time.
