i used to box middleweight South paw with 6-1 record
until i found girls. So i obviously disagree with a couch fighter.
Boxing has been stunted by the Mayweather era of safe counter punching
and it has done considerable damage to the brand with the rise of the
UFC.
The May weather v pacman was a very clear bell toll on it had gone
beyond ridiculous.
Horn is what they want in regards to aggression and heart as that what
attracts views and in turn MONEY.
The only thing that pac man beat horn at was accurate punching. But the
end result is horn was constantly moving in and attacking and so adding
his shots up for a total. You must understand that the aggressive
fighter takes the risks for being knocked out as his defenses are down
when he attacks.
The judges score for this accordingly as they should as this is the
fight game after all.
But the majority of couch fighters are unaware of this part of the
judging and thats what gave Horn the unanimous win.
Now you know and so have no excuses for making such dumb ass statements
again.

manny couldn't seem to land his left all night and his timing was shit, he never could catch horn despite the fact he kept charging in

however horn fought dirty as fuck and pulled off about a billion headlocks per round without getting a point deducted

hopefully manny retires and they feed him to spence who will shadowrealm him in the first 3 rounds

manny looked a shadow of his former self, it was quite depressing.

No. Pac won, but it was closer than thought. Pac didn't really get going until probably around the 3rd round. Pac had a bunch of moments of inactivity, whereas Horn was pressing the action and made it very difficult for Manny.

>Why is Teddy Atlas respected?

Because he's put in work at the ground level of boxing with real fighters and isn't just talking shit. He's been highly critical of Pacman in the past about his style and his initial aversion to drug testing.

If he thought it was a gift, then it was a gift.

Is this ironical? I mean I love loma but tbqh the only good fighter he beat is Gary Russel. Martinez was ok but had been ko'ed by Mikey and barely won to Salido the previous two fights.
Walters on paper is good but he was seen as the guy with a puncher's chance and was coming off a 1 year lay off.

I don't think this fight was a robbery at all. I thought that Horn barely won. It took a long time for Pacquiao to get started and he seemed to use up everything he had trying to knock out Horn in the 9th. Yeah from what I remember after the Postol fight, Arum wanted Manny to sign the fight with Crawford for last November, but instead Roach told Pac not to take it. He just saw his fighter get absolutely dominated by Crawford, wasn't going to let the same thing happen to Manny

I do feel sympathy Pacquiao. He's done so much for boxing, and boxing hasn't returned the favour.

Pacquiao was one of twin superstars who carried the sport into this century. He's given boxing numerous great fights and shed an awful lot of blood for his troubles. His handlers exposed his naivety and heart throwing him in against catchweight monsters like De La Hoya and Margarito, and he still came through.

What thanks did he get for it? Two stone dead robberies against Bradley and now Horn. After the Mayweather fight, he was crushed by the press and fans for his performance and excuses. Worst of all was the Marquez KO, the taunting that went after that was horrible, god forbid a guy go out on his shield warring after giving a 3rd straight rematch.

You just know as well his entourage robs him blind, so does Arum. Manny is just too mentally slow to acknowledge it. 'Errrrrrrrr talk errrrrrr to my promoter, errrrrrrrr God is with me', completely conned by him own people.

The UFC isn't involved in the undercard so most people expect nothing but Mayweather Promotions showcase fights. The only fighter officially listed so far is Savannah Marshall, an English fighter signed to cash in on an eventual fight with Claressa Shields. Rumor has it that they're also looking to add a fight between Gervonta Davis and Orlando Salido.

GGG-Canelo I have no idea but I'm afraid it might be thin since they're getting beat to the punch by Mayweather-McGregor. Would like to see the Jacobs-Lemieux rumor come true but who knows.

Face it man, the sport is becoming more and more irrelevant. Literally having to have a crossover fight between the UFC to stay relevant. The only fights the masses talk about are fights with major names, and the 2 biggest are in their way out. This fight only got attention because Pacquiao was in it and it was free. If it was any other fighter other than Mayweather, there wouldn't be this shit storm because nobody would care.

That's how boxing has worked for decades. A big star comes along and sells a shitoad of PPVs, they retire and everybody says boxing is dead, and then somebody else comes along. It's not a league with team franchises so public interest changes drastically in short periods of time. Same old

Boxing TV ratings in 2017:

5.1 Million peak for Thurman vs Garcia
Pacquiao vs Horn highest rated cable fight in a decade

Boxing PPV sales in 2017:

Joshua vs Klitschko 1.2 million
Canelo vs Chavez 1 million
Haye vs Bellew 800,000

Boxing attendance in 2017:

90,000 for Joshua vs Klitschko
51,000 for Pacquiao vs Horn

>>
>>76905794

Yeah but that was last year. We've still got 3 PPV to come that will sell over 1 million buys (Canelo vs GGG, Mayweather, Joshua vs Klitschko 2). The UFC had a very good year last year but it was only McGregor and Rousey selling big numbers. One is retired and the other quit to become a boxer.
>>
>>76884438
The issue is that those shows he is on usely don't pay much to the oponent. So he isn't getting other A side fighters. Eventually he will move up in weight and go to 147 were he can do proper PPV's.
Take a fight like Crawford vs Mikey Garcia. both would probably be happy to do it but it's hard to actually get them both a worthwhile pay for a fight like that. it has to get "marinaded" and hyped up enough to be worth it moneywise.

>>

Italy is pretty much irrelevant in modern day boxing. Italian-Americans traditionally been some of the greatest fighters who ever lived. Pep, Marciano, Graziano etc.

At this point, I wouldn't worry up nationality, I'd just watch entertaining fighters. Canelo and Golovkin fight in September and are great to watch for different reasons, one lights you up with combinations, the other mauls you to pieces. I'd start with both of them.

Nino Benvenuti is probably the best boxer Italy produced, won an Olympic gold medal and was a three-time world champion in two weight classes, fought and beat a lot of all time greats.

Duilio Loi won the light welterweight title twice, has a really impressive record.

Alessandro Mazzinghi was a two time light middleweight champion.

Primo Carnera was the world heavyweight champion for one year in the 30s.

Bruno Arcari held a light welterweight title for four years.

Vito Antuofermo was the middleweight world champion for a year and fought a lot of all time greats.

Other world champions from Italy are Loris Stecca, Maurizio Stecca, Carmelo Bossi, Mario D'Agata, Francesco Damiani, Giovanni Parisi, Massimiliano Duran

Roberto Cammarelle and Clemente Russo both had good careers in amateur boxing

You can look up more current and historical boxers here http://boxrec.com/records

There are also a lot of Italian American boxers who rank among the sports best. Most of the best white American boxers were either Irish or Italian.

Rocky Marciano is the only world heavyweight champion to go undefeated.

Willie Pep is considered the greatest featherweight, is in every top 5 GOAT list, probably the best defensive boxer.

Tony Canzoneri held five world titles in three weight classes (back when there were half as many)

Jake LaMotta defeated the GOAT Suger Ray Robinson in his prime, arguably beat him twice out of six bouts. Was the middleweight champion of the world. Well known for his biography turned movie Raging Bull.

Carmen Basilio was a world welterweight and middleweight champion, went 1-1 with Robinson

Arturo Gatti (Canada) won two world titles, lots of fight of the year awards, and is considered one of the most exciting boxers ever

Others include Johnny Dundee, Lou Ambers, Joey Giardello, Willie Pastrano, Fred Apostoli, Joey Maxim, Rocky Graziano, Sammy Angott, Ray Mancini, Vinny Pazienza, Paulie Malignaggi, and many more.

2.5 months is plenty for Eubs to prepare for the WBSS if he wins. But even if he loses, he can still sell it based on his name.

I would like Smith to join, he'll probably be the best one there, since DeGale/Ramirez aren't joining.

Don't think Cox/Skoglund is even in the top 15 of any respectable list. SMW definitely isn't as heated as Cruiser.

Yeah I think it's a possibility he joins, they just won't be announcing it before he's done with Abraham.

It's not as good as the CW one but if they can get Smith, Eubank, Benavidez and Groves then it could have a better final. I don't think any single SMW would be as big a favourite as Usyk is at CW

>>
>>76912719

Yeah but if Bellew actually wins it'll be hilarious
>>
>>76912719
If Ward blows out his knee or some shit during the fight, maybe it'll be good. I seriously think Ward could win by TKO.

If Ward's fight leads to Whyte or Joshua, though... that could be spicy.

Now that the dust has settled, who REALLY won the fight?

Bundu is a good lad, happy he has some fan in the us.
>>76906727
We are better than france, which is still pretty shit
>>76906880
Gotta love Paulie.
>>76906915
Russo is a fucking joke
>>76907584
Bhop also wasnt in as many wars as Pac and had a complete different style.
But if he still wants to fight he can be competive at 135 I think (except Garcia which mauls him), maybe a catchweight at 133 vs top 130 guys.
>>
>>76913125
Pacquiao won the fight, clear as day. The ref didn't deduct a single point for all the elbows and headbutts Horn threw and the judges must have been high as fuck. Horn did well for a no name against an old legend, but that doesn't mean he should have won. A rematch will be called, with new, better judges and Pac will blow out this aussie shitposter.
>>
>>76913261
The ref was complete shit too. I didn't notice the NUMBER of blatant elbows until I saw the video. I don't know why Pac and his corner didn't complain. Many instances where points should've been taken off.

Pac looks like a shell of his former self in this fight (and past fights) but he still clearly won.
>>
>>76912719
Bellew isnt a champion unless they fight at cruiser for the wbc (bellew technically was stripped but can still fight for him), it would be shit if they fought at hw for a title. At cruiser is a "good" fight.
>>
>>76913193
>We are better than france, which is still pretty shit

Don't think so. France has four EBU champions, Italy has one - and the Italian champ, Blandamura, was beaten by a Frenchman and only got the belt when the Frenchman vacated it. France also got a gold, a silver and two bronzes in Rio, while Italy got nothing. France is solid, check their top ranked active fighters on BoxRec

errol will be the one lad
he's very good, powerful and actually likeable
plus I don't think crawford beats him at welterweight
>>
>>76912010
because its entirely possible GGG straight up KO's him

when was the last time canelo fought someone genuinely bigger than him, let alone it being GGG of all people
>>
>>76913452
GGG will fight scared again like he did vs Jacobs. He doesn't like return fire, and Canelo will be countering him over his jab and sinking big bodyshots in
>>
don't get how people don't like bellew
he's just an irl shitposter

hopefully he KO's ward and solidifies his position as a top 10 p4p of the 2010s
>>
>>76913472
no he won't
canelo has a lot of snap but jacobs came in huge that fight, canelo won't have the reach or power he had, nor can he move his feet as well

GGG will swarm him, it won't be anything like the jacobs fight
>>
>>76913496
>GGG will swarm him

I bet he doesn't. Canelo hits just as hard as Jacobs and is a far superior counter-puncher. He will hurt Golovkin repeatedly, especially to the body, where Golovkin is weak
>>
>>76904524
>its actually mma that has been name dropping or calling out mayweather for years
Unironically this. Dana White would never stop shutting up about how Ronda could beat Floyd.
>>
>>76913525
well we'll see won't we
how will you claim GGG is a bum after he beats canelo

>huge
do you not realise how fucking big canelo is? if he rehydrates to mid 170s from 154 hell be touching 180s from 160.

IBF wont be on the table due to this fuckery screen cap this
>>
>>76913547
I don't claim he's a bum, but he's old, he doesn't like being hit hard and he believes in his boxing skills, and this makes me think he's going to approach this fight cautiously, just like he did against the other two big hitters he fought. Canelo is a better fighter than Jacobs overall, and he will push GGG hard, if not win. And if it's close again, GGG won't be the one getting the generous scoring this time
>>

look at a picture of them standing next to eacother

GGG's skeleton is significantly larger

Of course man, Bundu is part of a handful of fighters that I absolutely love!
Got front row seats for his fight against Errol because I thought he was going to KO him instead I was the one surprised to see bundu get KO'ed. I was impressed with Spence, I didn't give him any credit before the fight but stopping a man like bundu is tough !
>>
>>76913609
he better fucking not, after all this chit chat of mexican style.
a reserved approach will end in a unanimous 116-112 in canelos favour, no matter how ggg does.
or.
>its another close split decision where the 3rd judge scores it 118-110
>>
>>76913694
anyone calling it a robbery is just showing their casual

it was close sure, and personally i thought horn won, but he should have had points deducted for excessive grabbing, but i can understand a close decision for manny

in no way did manny control that fight, and even if he damaged horn more and won the "fight" that doesn't necessarily mean he won the boxing match

its like badou jack vs degale, jack beat the shit out of him, but if you follow the way boxing is supposed to be scored, then the draw was a pretty fair decision
>>
>>76913525
I doubt he hits harder than Jacobs. His power is good but not outstanding as GGG or Jacobs.
He needed 8 rounds to break Liam Smith down, while Jacobs and GGG would have done in less than 5.

4.4 million viewers was the peak for Pacquiao vs Horn

http://www.boxingscene.com/pacquiao-horn-highest-rated-boxing-telecast-on-cable-06--118149
>>
>>76914004
Ooh, I see. I remember reading the ratings were 2.4 previously, and since ESPN is in 120M American homes and an average American family is 2.53 persons, I thought it was ~7M viewers.

Good to see an actual number.
>>
are head clashes common in orthodox vs southpaw?

why can't people leave my boy horn alone and give him some credit for a great fight
regardless of the 117-111 he still got 115-113 from the other two judges

its not the head clashes that were dirty, it was the incessant headlocks
>>
>>76914113

>elbows

No, I will not leave him alone. Even if he didn't do them on purpose, he should have had more restraint and tried to fight a cleaner match.

I'd gladly sacrifice viewing the 1 minute break in-between rounds for commercials if it'd mean a free fight or at least a cheaper PPV.
>>
>>76914286

Top Rank is on ESPN now and PBC does fights on CBS and FOX so that's the direction it's going in

sky sports does PPV AND adverts during the break
