So what did Germany so right to improve from the low point of the Euro 2000, while England is still a big disaster?

You guys changed your entire youth system to focus on developing good and disciplined players while England still sticks with "let's pick the fastest lad around"
>>

You mean the Kosovo refugees?

Were they such a source for new players in Germany?

literally who is making these selections in England? haven't they realized how wrong they are over and over?

stupid beaners it's not a pk when the ball bounces in your hand from a foot away and you clearly didn't want to touch it.
if that was the case then everyone would just kick the ball into the defenders from all positions over and over until they get penalties.

IIRC handball rule used to be much more strict and back in 2002 that was a clear as day penalty.

Generally that was probably the most undeserved final of a team ever at a WC Germany played like shit every game and only got ridiculousy lucky. Under normal circumstances this team would have gotten relegated in the group stage or round of 16 at the latest.

>>
>>76863259

>>
>>76863281

>you could score a legit goal with your hand if you touch the ball unintentionally

there's no fucking way this is true.

if a defender handles it unintentionally and doesn't rob the other team of an obvious goalscoring opportunity, it's fine. but if an attacking player handles the ball unintentionally even if it's not in the box, it's a foul.

you literally don't even have to be in the box and it's a freekick.
>>

Because he thinks it was deliberate usually, It's ballsy to allow advantage to be gained from a handball even if they technically should and i feel most refs would rather just assume it was intentional and not have to deal with the scrutiny of such a call.

You can say what you want, but Leon Goretzka is in fact a native German.

Also, just look at >our U-21 and this Confed Cup team. >Our most promising talents are Horn, Süle, Rudy, Kimmich (this guy is still like 22), Goretzka, Weiser, Brandt, Meyer, Werner.
This is close to a complete team and all of them are native Germans.

Everybody knows those Merkel-Germans are nothing but memes. Even you know if you're honest to yourself. However, Löw is known to make memes work anyways...

Shit happens. >We always get better in the later stages of a tournament.
Remember 2010, when >we beat Argentina 4:0?
Serbia defeated >us 1:0 in the group stage.
>many such cases!
Even that U21 that became Euro champions were the only 2nd place of any group to reach the semis. It's always like that
>>
>>76864411
You could see that penalty coming from a mile away - that was probably the worst England side i've ever seen, the quality of the squad dropped off a cliff after 98
>>
>>76864475
>were the only 2nd place of any group to reach the semis
1) You were playing Italy and aren't they your bogey team?
2) The Slovak PM is demanding an inquest claiming that you and Italy rigged the match to get both of you through
>>
>>76862255
I'm convinced the FA doesn't actually care about winning. Rather than hiring an actual manager, they hire yesmen who just order our players to run around like headless chickens for 90 minutes. It works well enough during the qualifiers since we're almost always put in an easy group but we end up always underperforming during the proper tournament and everyone ends up being confused as to why we did so poorly. Also we just call up players based on what club they play for rather than how good they are or what role fits them best. A big issue we had a few years ago was that both Gerrard and Lampard were so good that they were undroppable, but they couldn't play together so they were unplayable. I think Gerrard also mentioned during an interview that the players rarely talked to one another due to their club rivalries. I'm not sure whether that's still the case since football is a lot more plastic now than it was back then, but my point was that every other team that performs successfully has a system. Leicester won the Premier League because they had a system. Wales and Iceland performed much better than us despite fielding Championship-tier players because they had a system. Meanwhile Hodgson didn't even know what our best starting XI was during the Euros and he put the top Premier League striker on corner duty.
>>
You have to remember we were entering into a 'golden generation' at the time, and there was a lot of expectation for these players, particularly after the 5-1 win against Germany.

Many achieved success domestically and with British teams in Europe.

I think it wasn't till it became apparent that the golden generation wasn't going to win anything, and the British manager and youth ploy didn't work (probably 2014) that real changes were made.
>>
>>76864613
Remember all the shit Hargreaves got for playing in Germany? And then he was the best player in the 2006 world cup.

Too sad that what happened with him after the world cup.
>>
>>76864613
Hodgson keeping his job after the worst WC performance ever says it all, I don't care if he didn't have much preparation time. Appalling.

It's painful to think what the mid 2000s team could have done under SAF for instance.
>>
>>76864679
It's pretty sad that we have outperformed you in international competitions this last decade with our shit players and meme managers. I bet some autist playing FM would be a better manager for England
>>
>>76864613
>players rarely talked to one another due to their club rivalries

wouldn't look too much into that, you always saw all of them hug each other before club matches so they were clearly close friends. the problem was as you say, lampard, gerrard and scholes being top class midfielders but all playing the same deeper role. that's why gascoigne was so great, one of the very few proper english #10s who could break down sides
>>
>>76864613
>Also we just call up players based on what club they play for rather than how good they are or what role fits them best

Yeah but when Southgate tried to do that by starting Livermore while Henderson was out, he was roundly ridiculed. Ignorance is general in English football. It's not just the suits and coaches but the fans too
>>
>>76864882
Equally he was praised for excluding Rooney though. Dropping the England captain and "all time goalscorer" was a massive statement.
>>
>>76862255

The DFB put a shitload of money into Youth Academies in the early 2000's, we are now reaping the rewards from that.

Also the Bundesliga isn't as overloaded with foreign players like the Premier League so domestic talents can flourish better.

That was a rare occurrance. Except for that period of late 90s-early 00s, Germany has always been toppest competitive whereas England has always been a flop.

It was just a return to normality. And even at your lowest you still managed to get to 1WC Final.

Also, our team had the least resting days before the Ro16, so there was in fact a downside of finishing 3rd place and the team managed to get around it.

Anyways, people get angry at us for something that we don't control. It's not our fault. Those were the rules agreed a priori. If that 3-3 against Hungary knocked us out, I'm sure Portugal wouldn't sit around keeping the draw with two defensive midfielders.

I really really hated how even our coach decided to go with the "I'm okay with Portugal playing ugly football as long as we win" just because he didn't want anyone to criticize Ronaldo

João Mario and Guerreiro were making some really combinations only for Ronaldo to get the ball and completely ruin the flow of the play and in the end who gets criticized is the team for "playing bad football", Moutinho made an amazing pass against Poland only for Ronaldo to miss the ball in front of the goalie but in the end what did the commentators and social media say? "Moutinho shouldn't play" (not that Moutinho plays amazingly but there was literally no one on tv criticizing Ronaldo)

placed all the team under the bus just to not hurt Ronaldo's feelings, they didn't do that with Ricardo Carvalho doe

Yeah, I remember a lot of complaints between 2002-04 were blocked by saying "But we were 2nd at the WC" though their path to the final was a joke. 2004 made everyone realize that there is a problem, so the changes started. Klinsmann became Bundestrainer and though he isn't a great coach, he made people appreciate a modern take on many different aspects of football.

You got lucky, if England had gotten runners-up at the World Cup (despite the Germans probably being the worst team in a WC final I have ever seen) in-between two group stage eliminations the FA would use it as evidence to not change for another 50 years

Thankfully the Germans didn't listen to the "but 2nd place" meme people after 04 and rightfully so, and have pretty much only improve since

One of the greatest strengths that German football has is that they from their failrues

and it was cringy as fuck to dedicate (i think it was pepe who said that) the victory to ronaldo - something like, ""this victory belong to him". fuck the rest of the team, fuck the portuguese people who cheered for them, amirite?
even this "the national team released me earlier to see muh baybees"... who believes this bullshit? he threw some tantrum because he wouldn't be in the final so they let him go. if portugal won against chile he couldn't care less about son #2 and daughter #1. just shows the integrity of the "captain", who should be the last one to leave the ship, literal or figuratively

England fired Big Sam

They can only save themselves with Tony Pulis now.

if it had been any other player no one would've said that

don't really care about Ronaldo being released as I'm tired of seeing his shitty stepovers fucking up Bernardo's plays but I don't like how he's the captain, Cedric, Adrien or Pepe are all better choices

>carried us to the semi-finals in 2012
I barely remember him in the first two matches, but fact is that the media was sucking his cock after the matches against the Netherlands and Czech Republic.
No wonder we can't diverge from this "ronaldo+10" stigma, when our own media likes to suck his cock so much and ignore the rest of the team.

he was great with the dutch though

this shit got me mad too
what a silly excuse to let him have earlier holidays, fuck the rest of team, fuck the players who need to have earlier holidays too because they have CL play-offs and domestic supercups but need to play the losers match of meme cup
>>

>you now remember when Ronaldo "carried" us to the 2014 WC against Sweden all the assists were done by Moutinho

I've never seen any other team being seen like this, I mean if you base it off the social media our team is seen like a team like Wales

Postiga delivered against England at least, the only good thing Gomes did in the Euros was 1 pass to Ronaldo, got in Barcelona, had a complete shit season, still gets called and still starts

>>
>>76868287
The only thing Postiga delivered was 1 half decent season in porto where literally anyone could've scored 20 goals (go ask Pena who did it in a much weaker team) and then proceeded to be cancer wherever he went, capping it off with that wonderful 30 games, 1 goal season in sporting. And he still got called up because "lol, no strikers" as if he'd ever actually struck anything. Éder doesn't get this treatment and the poor nig even got us a fucking euro.

Regardless, Gomes needs to gtfo.
>>
>>76868402
yeah, I was just saying Gomes is even worst than Postiga
>>
>>76868239
Postiga for an average striker delivered way more than what was expected from him.

So long Löw doesn't reactive Podolski and Schweinsteiger the future looks bright for Germany.

We only need to get rid of Meme Müller and Götze.

>>76867590

>>
>>76874974
>i-it's just the confed cup
I don't know about Spain, but that's not the spirit here. There's a lot of criticism on Fernando Santos's choices and we're worried that all the shit he does might get a pass just because he won the euros.

Yeah, we're very thankful to him, for winning that cup, but deep down we know it was a lucky win and now that there's a reputation to maintain we don't trust Nando enough after this shit performance in the confetti cup. We can do better with the players we have.
