the world series made sense when the MLB did it because there were two separate leagues which were literally the only professional ones inthe world and each champion played each other hence "world series." college is just named after it. also, allthe best players in the world are in the MLB. if they had a world cup for pro soccer wouldn't a european team win every time? same idea
