Honestly it's waaay over the top. I'm not a /pol/tard by any stretch but Dick Spencer was right by saying that the culture surrounding football especially in the South is fucking toxic. It's mentally abusive, physically straining, and fucking disgusting. I say this as someone who has played 4 years of it in HS as a TE up in NY. I've seen friends of mine who were well-off freshman year get consumed with the drugs, alcohol, sex, etc. that by their senior year they have ED and couldn't play half the season cause of drug related issues. Also the schools do nothing to actually help the players out academically either. They just coax them along even if they're failing all their classes because they know they'll get good $$$ from the town in ticket sales if the team does well.

My junior year we made the playoffs and had to go clear across the state for our second round game. Like half the town went with us, it was that big a deal.

Texas acts all independent, but the high property tax is just how they kick money back to the private sector, and how they pay private sector developers to build football stadiums like this. It brings down the price of homes, and it raises the price of rent. There is no path to wealth in personal home equity in the state of Texas. You either move somewhere else, or you get used to big high school football stadiums

Well of course things like these are bigger in America, for example in the NFL you have a team per state, thats like 20 million people for 1 team so the stadium will always be full and have a huge capacity, now that an european league, a city has a million residents and there are 3 to 4 teams in the city for the stadiums will be smaller.
