The S. Croce side losed control about some referee's decisions and they punched the referees so the game was suspended. In the last years the organization changed the rules of the game because to many times we had troubles for ancient rivalries. It's the first time in ten years that something so serious happens.
Back in the days the game was different: no professional fighters and only the florentines played, mostly rugby players, amateur boxers and old time strong men. There were rumbles of course but never organized as today.
