When I was 19 and had stopped playing competitively 3 years before.

Every year I said I was going to go back at it, and then I started watching all this other 19 year olds getting million dollar contracts while I was daydreaming.

It was depressing.

2bh becoming professional football player (not saying for the top teams, but as your job) is probably the easiest of all the major sport
Because 1. there are dozens of thousands of pro football jobs and 2. if you are good and train serious for all your youth you will end up, with a little work ethics and willpower, as a trained, capable, sueful football player (it's not that hard)
However you are completly fucked if you didn't develop excellent eye/feet coordination before 13 years old

When I was a youth player in 6th division and regulalry got to play in "young talent" tournaments and some scouts visited me and wanted me to move to a 2nd division team and I went on a trial but I didn't enjoy the atmosphere so I stayed with my mates in 6th division and never got good coaching

When I stopped growing at sixteen and realised my legs were combed as well.

Pretty obvious since first game in school break I was a long long way off the best kids. I kept on trying until I was about 9.

I only played for fun. I didn't even enjoy it when it got serious with like 3+ training sessions/week. winter training, and cardio only sessions.

I never thought I was good either. A few of the kids would literally go out jogging with the ball on their free time. I was never like that.

When Age of Empires 2 came out I dropped football like a hot potato.

the youth systems in the u.s. are ass and over-flooded with pacebabby spastics. its impossible to get noticed if you dont live in a major city, and even if you do, none of the scouting is taken seriously.

literally only way to make it onto the pros in the u.s if you dont get into a college with a soccer program is to try out for amateur teams and work your ass off so people notice your """workrate""" or other meme buzzword.

amature league have 4 divisions of 16 clubs top 3 and of 24+ 4th, if we are about 11x11
8x8 league have about 20 teams total + futsal have its own league
as i know, some teams in top division have coaches and even got bonuses for wins(money from sponsors)
