Zidane had 0 experience as the manager of a professional team before being hired by Madrid. At the time, it was perfectly reasonable to think that he would fail. I don't think anyone, even the people wo believed in him, would have evee thought he would be so wildly successful. His appointment had Klinsmann at Bayern/Giggs at United written all over it.
