If sweet ain't for you, why not try the Charlotte Motor Speedway's signature Crank Shaft Burrito. This bad boy is a 6.5-pound masterpiece that can feed a family of four or more, all for just $25. At 5,047 calories, the gargantuan burrito consists of four 12-inch tortillas stuffed with 1.5 pounds of baked beans, 1.5 pounds of coleslaw and 3 pounds of Carolina pulled pork, tossed with house-made 'Speedway City' barbecue sauce, and topped with 8 ounces of white queso, 4 ounces of jalapeños, more baked beans, slaw and pulled pork.

Nothing was wrong with the format. When you have so many rules that literally every competitive car is running about the same speed, then you put em on a a cleanairwinslol track, this is what you get.
The problem is Charlotte. Move the all star race to a fun track if you wanna improve it imo.
2018 All Star Race format:
>qualifying order decided by billiards competition
>qualifying consists of 6 rounds, with the odd-numbered qualifiers moving on in each round
>final round is run clockwise with mandatory one crew member pit stop
>three tire compounds: hard, soft, and mystery.
>as an added twist all the tire sets are actually the same but with different color logos to confuse teams
>option 6th lugnut only available if caution flies on the 4th sub-stage of stage 2
>optional Liberty Mutual (TM) 7 inch front splitter to help drivers Worry Less (TM)
>mandatory 3 tire stop at the end of stage 5
>pit order decided by alphabetical driver breakfast cereal preferences
>>76035460
and then cleanairwinslolagain
>>76035460
I like these rules
>>76035459
Agreed.
Move it to daytona
As someone who lives in NC, charlotte is a boring track. Martinsville, darlington, talladega, daytona, the road courses, hell even repaved boring bristol are more exciting than charlotte. The 600 is only exciting because of th chance that someone will run out of gas on the final lap
>>76035628
Also rockingham and N. Wilkesboro were all way better tracks than charlotte is today
>>76035628
An all star race at the Glen would open up some stupid hilarious options for gimmicks and would be an awesome track for it. Will never happen obv.
>>76035628
>someone will run out of gas on the final lap
And that is guaranteed not to happen anymore because of stages. Just get Rockingham operational again and move the race there. If it has to be an active track Darlington has history and is close enough to Charlotte. Plus they should have a second race date anyway.
ARCA race replay just started, and already it's a better race than the "all star" race
just turn em loose on the charlotte dirt track across the street

For all the talk about young stars in NASCAR with Jones, Blaney, Larson, Chase, etc, Suarez has kinda been under the radar. He inherited a great team obv, but he's gotten better as the season has gone on. Been pretty impressed 2bh.
>>76036504
to be fair dale's brain is soup these days
If Rick can get Larson or Blaney, he has to do it.
If not, Bowman would be a good fit. I think Bowman would inherit a lot of Jr fans too.
I could see a future where Jr owns a big stake in HMS. Rick is getting up there, and with JRM already being HMS affiliated, there's a lot of possibilities. Or maybe a satellite team like FRR to JGR with Jr fielding a couple of cup cars.
He has the money and the love for the sport. I don't think he'll be able to get away from it. And he obviously loves Bowman...so I'm pretty sure that's gonna happen.
>>76036537
Dale said Blaney's locked in with Penske, and I don't know how long Larson's signed with Ganassi
>>76036674
i don't know if larson would like to join a big team, it would mean he won't have as much freedom to race other cars like he has with ganassi
also with ganassi he can have a shot to race at indy and le mans
I could see Bowman winning an all star race fan vote next year if he's in the 88. I think he'd inherit that many Jr fans.

>>76037272
Following up on this because I kind of misunderstood the question: No one was particularly enthralled with how the race went, but we were prepared for it. My boss was telling me that part of the reason we try to make things as easy for the media members as possible (Giving them cart rides from their parking spots to the media center, keeping them fed, etc.) is that so if the race is a dud, they'll write better things out of appreciation for the work we did.
Overall I got a real appreciation for how working PR at a racetrack requires being a jack of all trades. I was taking things down and putting them up, working with Velcro and LED lights, setting up stages for photographers, the nitty gritty.
Here are some tidbits and anecdotes:
>The two drivers I dealt with directly were J.J. Yeley and Ben Rhodes. Yeley was hanging out in the PR room and messing with me about how I look like a young Bob Pockrass (I have been told this before but he took a picture of me and compared it with Bob and everything). Rhodes is cool. He was talking with us because he knew one of the guys I was working with from back when he was a media member but he didn't put on airs at all.
>The most glowing things I heard about any driver concerned Regan Smith. Apparently he's extremely nice and all the PR people love him. Clint Bowyer is also supposedly a ton of fun.
>In terms of driver gossip, I heard this: Erik Jones is quite polite but he can be whiny like Kyle Busch is, Noah Gragson is apparently a super good guy and really puts the effort in to make it so that people think he's more than just another rich kid from the West (Christopher Bell is more of a diva speaking in terms of KBM drivers), anything you've heard about Denny Hamlin liking party drugs is true, Michael Waltrip drunk stories are apparently amazing - I didn't hear the specifics but apparently one time someone he was with had to kick him to see if he was alive or not.
>>76036000
I get the feeling that JR is basically coasting and trying not to scramble his brains again.
>>76038167
I would believe the Waltrip story, he's notoriously drunk and also cheated on his ex wife at home with strippers. He sent her on a shopping trip to New York and she came back earlier than expected. According to some people I knew from iRacing who lived in NC, he was living in an apartment above Pie in the Sky Pizza in Mooresville. His ex cleaned him out

I'm thinking Junebug will probably work out a deal with Hendrick to buy the 88 team and run it in cup as JR Motorsports while acting as a satellite to Hendrick. That gives Hendrick an open car to run the 25. It would also give Bowman a chance to run the 88 while Hendrick gets their choice to fill the 5 and 25. Byron is 2-3 years off though (Natural talent, but the guy makes way too many mistakes to be viable for cup now).
But then there's gonna be a shitload of seat hopping at the end of this season so it's going to be interesting to see who goes where.
>>76041868
Who do you think is seat hopping?
>>76041868
Danny or Matt are going to move so Jones can go back to JGR
motor/sp/ort general got slid off the board so I'm bumping this
>>76041868

Anyone else taking cover in Toledo from the rain today
>>76038816
I think Waltrip has tweeted that he lives in an apartment so I don't doubt it. Wish I had asked for a specific story besides the walking home in his socks one
There was also a Kasey Kahne story that was funny as fuck. Without going into too much detail it involved a PR guy getting super drunk and calling up Kasey about how he had 15 black hookers and blow and to come on over. Kasey thought it was hilarious AFAIK
>tfw ARCA doesn't have jet dryers and are drying the travk by dragging tractor tires
>>76042610
Junior's out of the 88. We know that.
Kenseth might pull a surprise retirement, probably depends if he makes the playoffs or not which will bump Jones to the 20 and leave the FRR 77 open
It's really unlikely Danica's going to stay unless she finally gets a win or SHR get her an extension to hold so Cole Custer gets another year in Xfinity and SHR start figuring out their driver development program (If Custer even makes it to Cup)
It's really obvious Harvick is thinking beyond racing with the amount of TV time and booth work he's doing for Fox.
Kahne's contract is nearly up with Hendrick and it's unlikely he will be asked to stay on either.
It's a real transition period because a lot of drivers are ending their contracts or thinking about retirement so there might be some seat hopping. The problem is it's too early to call who is going where. Byron and Custer are too inexperienced for Cup. So they aren't going to move up till 2019 at least. Junior's pulling for Bowman in the 88. The rest is a crapshoot. How do you get someone in the 10 if they know they are getting replaced unless they can be moved to the 4 once Harvick is gone? Lots of drivers want stable contracts that they can get paid for instead of just a ride.
Silly season is going to be ridiculous this year.
>>76049061
Benefits Mr. Hendrick as well because they can effectively run 5 cars and not have the legacy of the 88 on their back either. It's win/win especially since the 25 would be fast enough it wouldn't need a charter.
