That "10th place" team was a title-winning team that was just playing like shit so they could throw their manager under the bus. Obviously Conte deserves credit for deciding to switch to 3 at the back but it's not like he lead a team of underdogs to an impossible achievement, he didn't even have to worry about European football (which is why he managed to get away with making a third of the changes that title-winning managers usually have to make to their starting XI every season).

United had some pretty big injury problems and they were out of the title race pretty early on,so they decided to put all their eggs in the Europa League basket. Liverpool have a shit squad so they were never going to win the league. Tottenham were the only PL team to even attempt to catch Chelsea but their poor run of form came from when they were still in the Champions League/Europa League and they were struggling with fixture congestion.

If you look at the stats, a title-winning team usually makes over 100 changes to their starting line-up throughout a season. Chelsea (and Leicester the previous season) only had to make around 40. No European football really does make the league a lot easier to win, it's why Liverpool came so close in 2014 when no-one expected them too and it's why Leicester and Chelsea have managed to comfortably win the league last season and this season.

I don't think Nainggolan would be afraid of being benched by Matic given the endless long shot opportunities made for Matic. I don't think Belotti would think he couldn't improve Chelsea's counterattacks with his speed, which is far superior to that of Costa's.

Conte's management this season has shown he can get the best out of his players. That's a massive advantage he has over managers when it comes to rising stars.

But that's an advantage of Chelsea. Right now they have something established rather than needing to build. When it comes to the spending the need depth. The only real "replacement" that needs to be made is Costa. They don't need star wingbacks to replace Alonso and Moses, just some 5-7/10 guys that can play Middles borough and Swansea.
