2006 was a bit unlucky and another example of a World Cup where most teams were fucking shit. I don't even care that England didn't win that one but it still annoys me that a team as shit as Italy did win it. England were heavily favored, scored early and pretty much dominated the 1st half.

Then, of course, the 1st shot the US takes on goal gets spilled into the net by the goalie under no pressure, or so we think. (Hey look, another goalkeeping howler. Why does England have so many again? See below) and the US scraps a result they had no business getting.

England generally has tons of talent but tends to choke in the spotlight (mostly due to the unrealistic expectations placed on them by their media EACH and EVERY tournament).

In contrast, the US tends to overachieve in tournaments, because they don't play scared to lose.

If England had the US's mentality towards soccer they'd easily have won a few more World Cups.

Not convinced. So many of our players are good athletically/skills-wise but can't actually play football.
