ordinarily when they move they keep their history.

the confusing one is the Cleveland Browns.

Cleveland Browns decided to move to Baltimore.
Fans sued, and the city of Cleveland kept the history.
The Cleveland Browns became the Baltimore Ravens (a new team)
Few years later the Cleveland Browns (a new team) were brought into existence, and despite being a new team were given the Cleveland Browns' history.
