there were something like 100-200 kids trying out for 3 teams. I was one of 5 that didn't make it.

Similar case here. Thankfully they were pretty fucking bad, so they were always kept in check by the other towns.

ILB and FB, 4 years in varsity, and defensive captain for 2 years. During my time there, we only lost 1 game per regular season.

pregame and in the huddle, everyone listened to me. I led all hype and commanded all plays, no one dared speak against me because they didn't want to go one on one afterwards. Opposition coaches came to me and shook my hand, reporters knew they had 5 minutes for interviews, and my coaches knew I controlled the defense.

it was great, you could do no wrong in school because of the prestige that came with being a star athlete. I could ditch class without any repercussions, my homework was always accepted whether it was late or not, I could spend extra time on tests and projects, and teachers rarely had anything to say to me.

outside of the classroom, everyone gravitated towards you--no girl was off limits and all your bros had your back like their lives depended on it. After every game, we'd hit a local food place, then go home and shower by 11. We'd hit the parties in full swing by 11:30, drink free liquor, and dance the night away with any girls we wanted. What made it even sweeter was having my own car, everyone literally fought to ride with me and girls always wanted to ride (in more than one way).

I do miss it, but I don't think I'd want to do it over again.

My high school was full of manlets. We were beyond shit like 0-16 lions bad, and fuckers still acted like hot shit. The basketball and soccer team guys were cool though

I have slight aspergers though, not memeing. My coordination was shit and I could barely cradle, permanent JV benchwarmer. Didn't give a fuck either, never really wanted to play. Just didn't want to take gym.

I was a slightly controversial character, but I think people respected me, (except for at least one, who will remain anonymous even to me). It was a catholic school too.

I hated the school but I liked to get fucking nuts during football games to blow off autism steam. I went shirtless for snowy playoff games and I think I was probably well known for not giving a fuck. Never talked to girls, never tried. Now I'm a physics and I spend all my days doing math.

Dunno what it's like where you are but being in Perth (and maybe the high school catchment areas I'm in) but high school footy teams/carnivals were scouted quite a lot and players offered invites to come and train a level higher than they were playing on the weekend so there must have been some prospective talent floating around. Guy in my year went first round (Rhys Palmer kek) and a guy the year before ended up playing for Essendon for a while possibly as a mature age pick (Hardingham) just as all the drugs shit kicked off

Well my cousin is not a quarterback of handegg, but he does play in the youth of BVB Dortmund and is a really promising talent. I don't know if it can be compared to Highschool Eggball stars, but although he is extremely popular at school and can have any girl he wants, he basically has no life since everything is about football. He doesn't drink, stay out long, or eat unhealthy, because you know it might ruin his career. Hes also not into girls very much because he says they are just a distraction.
