The NHL playoffs are losing to dog shows in the ratings.
Is hockey officially dead?
Fun fact: The NBA playoffs on the same night drew 5 million. WOW
Percentage of concern outside the USA about American TV rating for hockey: 0%
most hockeyfags just illegally stream it anyways, I hope no one actually illegally streams dog shows.

Without the American market, the NHL isn't a 4 billion dollar business.
NHL would be Aussie Rules tier.

Too many teams enter the playoffs. Sure there can be upsets, but if half the league makes the playoffs whats the point? Also hockey is watched regionally.

The national broadcasts are just to catch the dregs of neutrals who MIGHT be interested in watching, the core demographics for the matchups are covered elsewhere.

A FUCKING DOG SHOW
BAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA
I keep seeing threads like this for every american sport every year and it nothing ever amounts to anything

These are American TV ratings, though. It's hardly a secret that the NHL gets a massive percentage of its audience from Canada, hell, isn't half the league still Canadian?
I don't care about hockey at all, but it's not fair to say that hockey is dead. It just gets most of its fanbase from a foreign country. Of course it's not big in the USA, but it has literally never been big in the USA unless you live in Minnesota, or you live in Chicago in a year when our hockey team (the Chiefs? The Sioux? Whatever, there's a Native American in the logo) wins the title.
A dog show
A fucking dog show.
This year isn't all that great. Ratings will reflect that. Everyones getting injured and the only draw for new fans this year is rookie talent.
Yes hockey sucks. In other news the sun is hot.
