Basketball and football don't have minor leagues so players come straight out of college. NCAA hockey also arguably the #3 development path for players, behind major junior and europe

Also hockey is regional as fuck.

Boreball is super popular in the south. Usually the #2 sport behind football.

College football and basketball pretty much came into their own prior to the professional leagues, so those teams had a culture and following. Not the case with baseball and hockey, where the original draw were clubs

A big issue that hockey and baseball have is that pro fans don't have too much interest from a draft prospective because most players in those sports play in the minors for multiple years beforehand unlike football and basketball
