I know none you will care about Scotland but in the final game of qualifying for Euro 2008 we were refballed out of a chance to qualify versus Italy. We fought so hard in the qualifying group. We were up against Italy, world champions 2006, France, finalists 2006 (who we beat twice) and a good Ukraine team. We needed to beat Italy to qualify, which would have sent them out. It was all or nothing. The game was ticking down and the ref awarded a free kick to Italy that was a blatant foul on Alan Hutton. They scored from it and we went out.
